Hard sales tactics disingenuous: I'll not use them again
Pros: The car was nice and drop off was easy.
Cons: At pickup the sales person up-sold me a bunch of insurance products I didn't need or want, but she rushed me through and brushed aside my statements of not wanting the products. Not pretty. It took me several hours the next day to deal with getting rid of all the un-needed products. I won't use Hertz again.

Pros: After hours drop off was much appreciated on a Sunday.
Cons: Wait time to pick up car was long, not enough employees working. At one point there were 6 people waiting, their 2 phone lines were ringing off the hook me not a single employee was in the building. The car has alignment problems and pulled to the right. Ridiculous to have to pay $13.50/day for an additional driver.

Hertz is awful
Cons: Plane was late. Couldn't pick up car. Took five minutes to navigate automated service. Talked to human. Human did their job, but as Hertz's policies are awful it took him twenty minutes to explain how I might get my money back for a car I never used. I hope to never use them again. Ever.

Pros: We really appreciated the unlimited mileage and friendly staff. Drop off was really easy. Accommodation for holiday business hours and gave us an extra day free.
Cons: Almost gave us a rental just returned that had not been cleaned. Staff noticed exterior and got it washed but we had to clean the inside of car before use.

Took a long time to get the vehicle, and it could have been cleaner
Pros: Nice car, good value
Cons: Took 45 minutes to get a car with 9 people in front of us. The windows were very dirty, especially the front passenger side window that was smeared with a sticky substance. We had to buy glass cleaner and paper towels and clean all windows inside and out.

Cons: I asked for airport pickup but my reservation ended up being 20 miles from airport. The staff at pickup had no idea what they were doing. It took too long and my contract had to be redone bc the fuel gauge was read incorrectly.

Car rental not at airport
Pros: Car got me to where I needed to go and back.
Cons: I had to spend a great deal of money to get from the airport to my car and then back to the airport. I rented the car thinking it was at St. Louis airport. However, it was at a different Hertz location. I inquired at the airport location how much it would be to get a car there and they said it would be 5 times the price I reserved with Kayak. The Hertz crew at the airport also would not help me get to the other Hertz location. There are enough car rental companies. Hertz is done. Never will use them again. I, like most others, did not know what the address was for the airport in a city I don't live in. I will take responsibility for not being diligent in confirming that this was the airport Hertz location. However, maybe Kayak/Hertz should consider making sure it is clear that this is not an airport location. I decided to use Kayak and Hertz and was disappointed in both. Too many options out there to deal with this.

Last car in the row
Cons: We searched st Louis airport and reserved a car but the actual location was not at the airport. Close but no way to get there by shuttle that the airport provided. Had to get reservation moved to different location and there a ton of fees with this. Bad Hertz, Bad. Our last time with renting a car with you. We then stuck with the last car in zone 3, an ultra compact when our reservation was only for compact. Scary when surrounded by big trucks two hours away where our destination was.

Loved the upgrade
Pros: Comfort of the large suburban. Surprised at the good gas mileage.
Cons: Not very clean when we picked it up. He cleaned it but we had to take it to the car wash when we pulled off the lot.

Cons: Rental car location was not at airport, this was not indicated when I rented the car on Kayak. Had to find another company as the only car available was $190 a day

Not good at all
Cons: Signed up to pick up at airport location and got there only to find out not airport location, then was asked for 350 extra to rent there. Horrible experience first and prob only time will use kayak to book travel

Pros: On your website I picked St Louis airport and then selected prepay on a hertz rental car. Got to the Hertz location and they told me that the location I am rented at was 25 mikes away. Huh? So they would not transfer it so I ended up getting a taxi and that cost me a fortune. And no refund for the rental. Shame on you guys offering locations that were not in the search criterea.

Pros: Nice car. Easy pick up and drop off.
Cons: I live in Texas. Sad I wanted to rent car at St. Louis Airport. Got a price of $349. Got to the office at the airport rental and was told that our reservation was at another location. We asked can we get a car here. Yes but it will be more. So we had to pay $539.00. Two hundred more. Not happy at all. We assumed that if you say it is at the airport that it is at the airport We were told the other office was several miles from the airport. This is false advertising.

Hertz was great Kayak was lousy
Pros: Jason at the pick up point was great.
Cons: You set up a pick up location that was an hour from the airport. I was not informed of this. I depended on Kayak to arrange a car at the airport and you failed me. If I ever use Kayak again I will have to check up on you at every step. Hertz was great and helped me out. Kayak was lousy. I spent more money on cabs than I did rental.

Cons: I booked and thought this was a pick up at the airport. Very misleading representation on the part of Kayak. Actually, I would call this a bait and switch. Had to take a $100 cab ride to pick up the reserved car. Luckily, I got there before the shop closed. Very close in time and unnecessary stress. I will never use Kayak again. Now, I clearly understand the process but this should have been made specific in your representation.

You Screwed Up
Cons: I booked the car through your web site for St Louis Airport. Once we got to the Hertz counter I was told the reservation was 10 miles on the other side of town. Ended up paying $300 for a 2-day rental of a small compact car. Shame on you guys

Cons: I wanted a car from the Hertz STL airport. When I got there, the reservation was for another location. The email confirmation that Kayak sent, only had Hertz customer Service numbers. I had no way of contacting Kayak to transfer the reservation. So I ended up with a compact(instead of a mid size) that cost four times as much!! I've very disappointed that Kayak makes it so difficult to contact them and I don't think it wouldve killed Hertz to just give me a similar rate To help out a customer. The car was fine but I've never waited so long for shuttle that Took me back to the airport.

Cons: I cancelled my car rental days before I was suppose to pick it up, with hertz and with kayak and I was still charged the full amount even though I did not pick up the car (if I knew I was going to be charged I would have) and every time I call customer service the call gets disconnected. Very unsatisfied.

Cons: thought I was renting a car from STL airport, when I arrived they told me this rental was from a different location in St Louis and ended up charging me almost $200 dollars more than rate

Cons: i came back about 2 hr after drop off i needed to pick up my tablet that i left in the rental car . was not allowed to get it or look for it .i could not come back the next day because i needed to leave for my flight. i sent a note online and have heard nothing back. very poor service!!!!

Kayak booked the wrong place
Cons: When I booked through the website, I hit the button reserve at the airport button. Kayak booked me at another destination that involved a 30 minute taxi ride. When we tried to obtain a refund, we were told that it was in the contract and they would not refund us. We will never book through Kayak again.

Pros: Pick up and dropoff was good.
Cons: Car was not ready when promised even though I called before going to pick up the car. I was told that it was ready and when I arrived it wasn't at the location. I had to return.

After a Surprise, quite nice.
Pros: The staff at Hertz (where I finally picked up the car) was excellent, very helpful, very friendly. Couldn't have been better or more accommodating.
Cons: I thought I was picking up the car at the airport but it was reserved at a location 25 miles away. I know I put "Lambert International Airport" in for location but somehow it switched locations but did not readily identify that on-line.

Cons: It was a scam. Your site gave me the option to select St. Louis airport pickup and when I got there to the hertz rental at the airport said Kayak reserved my car at a hertz rental 25 miles away. I called and called but kept getting voicemail for Kayak saying they can't change my reservation I would need to work with Hertz. I had them cancel the Kaayak and I had to pay twice as much to Hertz. I think Kayak still billed me for the rental too. What a nightmare! My email is firstname.lastname@example.org

Service uneven and needs improvement
Pros: After my plane landed, I went to pick up my car and I was told I was at the wrong location. I had specified the airport Hertz but I was told by this woman at what turned out to be a club counter that I had to contact Kayak to change reservation or go to the other location - 20 minutes away. There is no easy way to contact Kayak and I tried multiple ways (more than a week later no one from Kayak has contacted me). Finally, I went to the regular checkin counter and was told by a man there that it was no problem to change the reservation to that location. In about 5 minutes, I was in my car. I have no idea why the quality of service was diffferent but it was a huge difference. I'm relieved it was settled but a very unsettling expereince.

Confusing Holiday schedule
Pros: I liked that eventually we got the hertz location to work with us and they made the pick up work with our schedule and the original price.
Cons: I did not like that when they called to confirm my reservation- they then told me they would be closed. When I asked them if they could move my pick up they said sure, but at an additional charge. I told them I based my pick up based on the charge- also, why should I pay more because they allowed me to make a reservation and then changed it? I had to continue to call them in order for us to work things out even though I was promised a call back. When I dropped off in milwaukee that location was also closed and we were not aware nor told when we picked up. I had to call hertz in order to figure out how to drop off. The whole reservation was a little kerfuffled. I wish that because it was a holiday they would have been more on top of making sure we knew what to do.

Cons: They did not have a vehicle available. Called the next morning to say they saw my online reservation, but there was no vehicle for me.

Pros: Hertz phone service kindly rebooked me at the airport
Cons: Hertz staff at airport offered me no direct help at all. They did let me use their phone.

Cons: There was no call to confirm the reservation 24 hours before which would have saved a lot of hassle. When my mom called to ask about the pickup they had already cancelled the reservation. When she made a new one she made it clear she was picking it up for me and that another driver was involved. They did not mention 1) that there was a fee for another driver and most importantly 2) that the other driver had to be there. If someone says they're picking the car up for their daughter and their daughter can't come and you know the daughter has to be there you should say on the phone before the person comes into your store "Your daughter has to be here." They didn't. My mom went to the store and had to wait at the store for 3 hours because her ride had gone to work. Absolutely horrific customer service. The car itself was pretty mediocre. There was no cruise control which I honestly though came pretty standard on almost every car made within the last 20 years. Other than that there was nothing wrong with it and nothing great about it which is alright since it's just a rental car. Mainly just be very upfront when people call on the phone with tricky situations rather than making them come in and sit at your store for hours.

slow check in
Cons: Check in took too long, over 40 minutes for a confirmed reservation and I was only customer when I walked in. Staff tried hard to sell me multiple insurances. At turn in location, computers were down.

Pros: When I submitted my order it changed my location so when I went to pick up it was wrong. Thank goodness they were able to fix it.
Cons: The over charges for not staying in the area. I could have driven as many miles in St. Louis and been charged less. Ridiculous !

Worst Car Rental Ever
Cons: I rented with Hertz through Kayak. I asked for rental at St. Louis Airport. The car was not at airport. They wanted to charge us an extra $200. We took Uber to actual site. A car was not ready. They washed a car for us to take. They hassled us about "add ons".

Pros: I arrived very late at 3am and a car was ready for me to pick up. When returned, the process was very efficient and only took a few minutes with a shuttle ready to take me to the airport. I will rent from Hetrz again and KYAK rocks.
Cons: They should have a few more clear EXIT signs around the lot. I was a bit confused as to how to make my way out of the lot.

St Louis office needs help
Pros: Car had a nice large trunk. Reasonable gas mileage. Judy in the Hertz billing office was able to adjust my bill to the agreed upon KAYAK rate after I returned the car. Thank you, Judy. (See next box for complaint)
Cons: Pickup experience in St Louis was dreadful. I had a new agent who was inexperienced and couldn't figure out how to give me the rate on my KAYAK reservation, and the location manager didn't respond to her requests for assistance. We were running late and needed a car, so she rented me a car at a "walk up" rate which was about $200 more than I had been quoted.

Great value, pickup flexibility at Hertz
Pros: I had to move up the pickup time a day earlier and was able to do so without any problem. The big surprise was that the price even went down!
