Appalling, never again
Cons: They blatantly lied to my face and stole money from us. I will never rent from Dollar again and I think less of kayak for even featuring then on the website.

Cons: My reservation was just $4 USD, when I got there they started to add many things, taxes, insurance, etc, etc I was not expecting to pay just $4 for the whole week, but what's the purpose of the quote then?

Extremely expensive liability insurance required
Pros: Close to airport
Cons: The Car rental price was to be $40 for the week which seems like a great value, but when we got there we were told we were required by law to add liability insurance which pushed the cost of over $400 for the week .

Pros: Wish I had something to write about that I "liked"
Cons: When I arrived to Cancun airport I was notified by the man in charge of my rental that the company was "out of cars" I couldn't understand how my FULLY PAID RESERVATION was basically non existent... my experience was terrible, especially since I was unable to reach anyone at their office. I had to rent a car through firefly (hertz) which cost me three times as much as my original rental. NEVER AGAIN

Cons: Booked the car on Kayak for 160$, had to pay over 700$ at rental location for insurance.

Poor Car maintinance / Insurance gouging with a sm
Pros: Paid money. Got car. People where nice. No hassle during return.
Cons: Upon arrival I had to remind them that I had already secured the car for $158 for my trip (they initially tried to charge $380). Then came the required insurance (you can pay $16/day if you want to pay for the car in full -if it where stolen or choose a $49 or $59/day option of actual insurance). I could of looked into other insurance options beforehand, but if $16/day is "required" it should be included in the initial quote IMHO (I'm sure this is all in the fine print but just giving a heads up). The car worked, but the windshield wipers had a greasy mes that cut out visibility when the rain picked up and there was zero washer fluid. Had to perform car maintenance that the rental co should be performing.

Pros: I requested a 4-wheel drive Jeep and was given a jeep with a removeable top. I was very happy about this!
Cons: We got swindled into paying $25/day for Mexican car insurance which only insured us for liability. There was no indication of this extra charge until we picked up the vehicle at the airport. The first tank of gas that was left in the vehicle must have been watered down because we got half the gas mileage as any other tank we filled up. The battery died with 3 days left on the trip. We had to jump the vehicle every time we shut off the ignition.

Watch the outrageous fees
Pros: I reserved a standard car for a week in Cancun for $10. I knew there would be extras. Thankfully I confirmed with my CC company that they cover CDW. Dollar charges $59/day for it!!! The mandatory liability insurance was $29/day so the rental was $250 total for the week which is reasonable so I'm not arguing. However it would be a lot better if these companies posted the mandatory rates on their sites so we can be informed and compare. Overall the Dollar people were pretty nice. Car was a VW Vento which was fine for the 3 of us. Small by US standards but a good ride and great stereo.

Very disappointing! Be prepared for surprise. And
Pros: The car was OK and Clean, and they had a lot of cars available.
Cons: Be prepared to be surprised with hidden fees. I was in line for 1.5 hours, I had 2 sets of rentals 2 different days. And believe me, I saw about 20 customers, you wouldn't see a single customer that was happy, some walked out cursing, some like me were disappointed but didn't find any other option. So many hidden fee,s but main thing was mandatory insurance (apparently US liability is not covered there and you have to get it, which is about 36 USD per day after taxes). In my first case I ended up paying 40 USD instead of promised 5 USD, and in 2nd case 1300 USD instead of the promised 740 USD. I hear this is every car rental in Cancun. So I don't want to bash Dollar with this; but my main problem was they didn't even care. The worst customer service. They declined connecting you to a manager or customer service. Very unfriendly and not cooperative at all. A very sad, angry environment with all upset customers. Don't be surprised if you prepaid some insurance, they still push a lot of other insurance that you should get. I didn't try this, but I think you better be off getting an Uber and get into the city and deal with a most friendly rental. Still possibly same price (because again the claim is this is law) but at least you pay less fees and deal with nicer people.

Cheap rental but with strings attached
Pros: Brand new car for rental very low rental rates
Cons: High insurance rates even on minimum insurance required Did not specify insurance requirements at the time of booking Very long wait time for both check-in and check-out.

Do not get car from them
Pros: Nothing. Total scam.
Cons: They will tell you that the rate does not include the minimum insurance which is $70/day which is only the liability insurance which does not cover anything. Also they need a $2500 deposit for the car. Ended up going to hertz and getting the rental from them for an all inclusive no fuss or scam car rental.

When renting in MEXICO - beware you have to pay fo
Cons: Apparently your state farm nor your credit card covers Mexico rentals. So when you think your paying 279/week for a car, you have to add on like almost $40.00/day. Its insane!

Cons: Took over 1 hr to get the car (being the only costumers there). Didn't like that they require blank signed receipts of your cc charge.

Pros: The car worked
Cons: 1. Arrived airport at our scehuled time. Waiting 90 minutes for the shuttle. Called local office several times, no answer, had local Mexicans call for me on their phone as well in case I was mis dialing . No answer. Finally paid driver of a different car rental company to drop us off at Dollar. It was only a few blocks. Office was open, no explaination for not answering phone. 2. We were only customers, 4-5 employees on site and it took 45 minutes to get car. 3. They pressured us, successfully, the pay unnecessary insurance fees which over twice the cost of the rental Awful experience

Good Service and economical upgrade added
Pros: Staff was friendly and offered a very inexpensive albeit off-season upgrade.
Cons: Vehicle was clean and good shape but was missing the radio antennae and the lug nut lock die. Even though I asked for both, they didn't have them. I would have had a problem if I had a flat and no music on the radio when 20 minutes outside of Cancun. Be careful with your credit card when filling up at the Pemex at the Cancun airport. The gas attendant swapped my credit card and later made unauthorized charges. Keep your credit car in sight at all times at gas stations in Mexico.

Renting from Dollar Car Rental CANCUN
Pros: Process was fairly fast and easy and it is located right at the airport.
Cons: The insurance package was ridiculous. They charged $59USD a day with a $300USD deposit for insurance. If you didnt choose that one they wanted to put a $3000USD deposit.
