Cons: Basically forced us to take the additional insurance at $45 per day. If declined they wanted a $3000 deposit on the car. Never had that experience elsewhere

You need to read the fine print.
Pros: The price if it would have been the price I expected.
Cons: Once I arrived at Thrifty, the price for the car was accurate, but you are required to have insurance on the rental and that raise the price another $30 per day. This was not in the reservation I saw on Kayak, or at least not that I could see. I ended up cancelling the reservation and going a different route.

Cons: Lie, prices not as described

Pros: Nothing! the location was closed, and I was left hanging looking for another car company.
Cons: The location was closed, I had to get Eurocar to rent me at a higher price and back of the line...

Price was real.
Pros: I paid 85 cents a day. I did leave a $2000 visa security deposit for insurance but i was refunded all of it back and only paid 168 pesos total for 7 days of rental...this was including tax.

Price is in the insurance
Pros: Good service
Cons: Rates online overly reasonable but the entire price of the car was in the insurance. Even the lowest level, just liability was over 3x the daily rental fee. Not a fun surprise.

Cons: Unprofessional service.

Overcharging the clients including unnecessary ins
Cons: The way they trick clients to buy more expensive insurance.

Not as cheap as you think
Cons: It seems like a great deal... until you get there and have to pay hundreds of dollars in insurance! Unless you have a credit card that has a rental car insurance deal, beware you'll be spending 200-400 in insurance.

Be prepared for insurance fees and long turn in de
Pros: Easy online but at desk was badgered for normal gas and other add-ones, but also for insurance. Desk was crowded and hard to understand due to small space between customers and so many people in a small area.
Cons: Online price is not representative. Turn in was a mess due to them losing their paperwork and general disorganization. Glad I turned in my car a day early before flight.

Pros: Easy and quick drop off
Cons: The counter person tried to bully me into buying the extra insurance. He said that Mexico required this but according to Mexican law, the rental car companies have to include the basic insurance in the base rental price and contract. Even after I told him this (which he was surprised I knew) and that my credit card has worldwide travel coverage (I had a letter of coverage from my credit card company) he still tried to scare me into getting extra insurance. When I finally got the car, the attendant didn't want to write on the assessment sheet that the car had a large scrape on the bumper. He finally made a mark but it was barely a pinpoint mark so I asked him if he would circle it but he refused. After giving me the keys he then flat out asked for a tip which I thought was so rude. Who does that? I will hesitate before renting from Thrifty again even if its less expensive than another rental company. Its just not worth the hassle. Also the car had manual windows and locks and the stereo didn't work. Very disappointing.

Cons: They are trying to scam you for the insurance.

Things can improve
Pros: People were very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The time to pick up the car was too long. And when we returned the car, it has a little scratch. They charged us 150$. There is not price list for the damages, so you can only trust that the person charging you is fair. I wasn't very happy about that. And they charge twice my credit card! :( what I fixed with my bank afterwards, but still...

long check in process
Cons: we had to wait over 45 minutes to pick up the car because there were no car available.

Pros: Clean car. Good gas mileage.
Cons: Major hassle at pick-up and drop-off. Long lines. Angry customers. Charged my card $5,000 in order for me to leave with the car. Solicitors welcomed in the lobby. Employees asked for tips for "washing" the car (when it was raining out). Additional insurance was more than the rental itself and staff basically alluded that you would be screwed if you didn't buy the insurance. The whole process was unnecessarily stressful and could have easily ended badly.

Cons: They stick you for the extra insurance charge, the check-out/check-in process is horrible, and they claim I scratched the car and charged an extra $50...overall worst car rental experience I've ever had!!!

SCAM and they know it
Pros: Car was clean and the shuttle was prompt.
Cons: Kayak does not reveal in its pricing that you get charged a daily insurance rate along with the daily rate. This changes the price a lot as you are required to carry some form of "their" insurance. Expect that cheap Kayak listed price to in fact be very misleading. When I returned my car they came right out and began the inspection. Three guys came out and started a detailed examination of the car. Checking everything including under and then huddling up to discuss. Meanwhile two other drivers drove up, one person did a circle around the car, handed off the paper work and the car proceeded through the process unscathed. I did not. After consulting the pre-inspection, this team of inspectors decided that a small (and I mean small) ding on the left side was caused by me. You could barely even see it and could be easily missed by anyone. They didn't and proceeded to ding me $49.99. Had I read the other reviews and noticed that they tend to act this way I would never of chosen them and that is why I am leaving this here for others to be aware of the price listing and when you turn your car back in. They either knew I took the least amount of insurance offered and was therefore liable, or knew this car had the preexisting "ding" and everyone who gets this car gets collared. Either way, the guy who handled the process knew it was a scam, couldn't look me in the eye. He acted and looked guilty. I refused to sign anything and have spoken directly to Thrify and disputed the additional charge on my Visa. Just watch out.

Pros: the car
Cons: the insurance rate

Insurance is a rip off
Pros: The daily rate was great so I booked it but it turned out to be a bait and switch. The insurance was 24 times the daily rate . I had to take it since it was Mexico and had no other choice. But this is a rip off by Thrifty. We should have a fair rate for insurance.

Cons: Cancun. MX. They wanted to charge a $3000 deposit unless I bought their insurance. Then it would have been $300 deposit. I had previously called Thrifty and was told there was no insurance requirement but wasn't told about the deposit. I didn't rent the car.

Pros: Car was clean and in decent shape
Cons: Felt like a criminal that I took the minimum SLE insurance mandated by Mexican State Gov't even though I'm a VISA Infinite Member and have rented cars in Mexico for 20 years. If I hadn't thoroughly went through vehicle before picking up they would have gotten me on about 7 previous dings/dents.

Pros: The shuttling to and from the airport.
Cons: It is a little hard to communicate in another country.

Rip off. $500. For 6 days or go to a Vida presenta
Pros: Only the car
Cons: Rip off.!! Insurance is $87. Per day. Plus car rental of $35.00 perday. Never again Thrifty.!! Mexico and Thrifty allow high rates or tell you to go to a time share presentation to get a discount. Cancun airport car rental will rip you off.

Pros: Great servive, car at a great price.
Cons: Pushing to sell us the insurance.
Sep 23 2016
Pros: Clean Car, Simple Check in
Cons: Not too much personnel, I wait 35 minutes

Manager tried to shake me down for $40
Cons: The manager at the Thrifty rental office at the Cancun Airport was a con artist. They tried to shake me down for $40 to buff out a scratch on the bottom of front spoiler that was not even noticeable that I did not do. I will never rent from Thrifty again, Rob
Jul 31 2016
Pros: Did not give us a hard time about insurance which we have had to deal with in the past when using Thrifty and other companies.
Cons: When traveling to Mexico ALL the rental companies allow the dollars to be converted to peso's which would be fine except the the companies use an over inflated rate of exchange which we end up paying more than what we were quoted.

Good a good deal
Pros: I was able to negotiate the price. As is typical in Mexico, the insurance cost is way more than the car rental, but you never want to rent without insurance in Mexico.
Cons: Long waits at the counter to get the car and to return it. They should get up to speed on automation.
Jul 13 2016
Don't waste your time
Cons: Says open 24 hours. Isn't. Said would deliver car in the morning to our hotel. Didn't. Refused to help out at all with anything. Book with anyone else, these guys are terrible.

Pros: Initial car rental was cheap
Cons: Customer service was poor. Car was dirtiest I've ever seen a rental car.
