Pros:Drop off clerk was friendlyCons:I had a reservation and my car was not ready. I had to wait off to the side of the counter for an hour. When I was given a car it was not cleaned. The floorboards were dirty snd the car had not been washed. Worse l, it reeked of cigarettes and pot. Had there been other cars I would have rejected it, but I was already late and the line inside was very very long. It was evident not enough cars or staff were available. I will not rent again from Thrifty and I will share my unpleasant experience on trip advisor. Additionally, the car was squealing as if the fan belt was a lot to go. Just a poor vehicle and 75% poor courtesy from with staff. It didn’t effect me, but the staff that day was yelling to the long line of customers that “if you made a reservation today, it will NOT be honored”. That seems unacceptableReviewed Feb 21 2021

Pros:Nothing. Maybe the price but didn't get to partake in it and lost $50 in the end.Cons:The attitude of the lady helping me. My overall experience was bad. My wife and 21 month old old son took a one way trip to Atlanta, GA so she could fly for the first time ever (after 43 years). This was a decision she had made when our son was born in March of 2019. A couple weeks prior I had made the decision to cut up my credit cards, not even thinking that I may need them for any sort of car rental. The website doesn't even mention this. We successfully landed and went to get out rental from Thrifty and the lady that helped me appeared to be running the shift at the time. She asked me for my license and credit card. So I gave her my license and one of my bank cards. She then physically stepped back for some reason, as if I was going to attack her and told me she needed a credit card. As I started to discuss any other type of way for me to possibly rent the vehicle, she kept cutting me off. She was curt and non-compassionate. Horrible customer service. Absolutely no smile and did not look or act like she wanted to be there. My time in the rental area took about an hour, the fear that I would be able to get my family back home to Orlando, FL and lots of tears. Finally, someone at Budget was compassionate enough to help me. I will be sticking to budget from now on because of the individual there who saved me and my family. I will never go to Thrifty again and never recommend this place to family and friends. It's no wonder why you all are cheap in price. Human decency requires cash, and sometimes a credit card.Reviewed Feb 23 2021

Bad customer service and lack of knowledgeCons:When I went to pick up the vehicle I was told that it didn't matter what time I returned the vehicle because I payed a daily rate. Then I payed for prepaid insurance which I told the lady at the counter and I was told they did not know what that was and still charged me for their own insurance. The vehicle smelled like an ashtray when I picked it up and when I was leaving I told the person at the gate and they said they'll make a note of it. Then when I returned they proceed to tell me there's and hourly rate and tell me that my rate has been changed to a weekly rate which doubled the price of my rental in total, then when I asked to speak to the manager she comes up and takes care of another customer who came after I was there and then proceeds to tell me she can't do anything about them changing my rate. I will never be using thirty again. Everything about their service was poor. I fly multiple times a month to Georgia and would have given them allot of business but after this experience I will take my business to enterprise or hertz.Reviewed Dec 26 2016

Pros:Nothing about this company I liked. The man mike who works at Thrifty location in Atl (221 Peachtree Center Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30303). Was extremely nasty with communicating with me and streotyping me. By telling me “Chime isn’t a major bank company, may to you n your people. Only major banks we take are Chase,TD,BankOfAmerica for example.” Even tho my chime card was a credit card. So by telling me this I couldn’t not get my rental car at all. Even though my bank account was charged. At this point I was completely off. Kaya or Thrift don’t let anyone know this information so I have to take the fall which is not far. About which credit cards can be use or not. Also, I called kayak about the situation and still haven’t received my money back where I have to make a dispute now. If you ever decide to rent a car DONT NOT BOOK IT THROUGH THRIFTY OR KAYAK THEY WILL SET YOU UP FOR FAILURE SMH.Cons:EVERYTHING!!!!!!Reviewed Mar 2 2021

Felt Like a Bait and SwitchPros:I entered my correct dates for pickup and drop off as well as my locations and was given a rate that made the one way rental economical. Armed with my rate and confirmation I went to the airport to pickup and was blindsided with an increased rate that was triple what my confirmation said. The agent says there's nothing she can do they should have added the drop off fee This experience left a sour taste in my mouth with using Kayak for car rentals and luckily I was able to talk with an Avis agent that was able to work out a better rate than the one on Kayak with ThriftyReviewed Jan 2 2017

Pros:I liked that we got to pick which car we wanted.Cons:We were not told it would be extra for another driver until we picked it up. We were also given no instructions. The guy at the desk gave the people before us a whole run down of the process and I wish I could have heard him because we got nothing. Also, there was a guy working for the garage in Atlanta that did not help us when we were lost and just texted in his phone and laughed at us. The car had not been cleaned but it was the only compact car my husband was comfortable in. The other one if the same model smelled like marijuana. The whole Atlanta pick up was not awesome. It’s hard to find the right place to go, the staff was not friendly, and the car was not clean. The drop off in Indy was good.Reviewed Mar 31 2020

Cons:Never renting a car via a third-party again. The location was not the airport, which I know now to check--but I don't expect many not from the area to not to assume the rental car location would've been the airport. At the airport, I waited for two hours in line for them to notify me this wasn't the right location and the right location was now closed--so I was effectively without a car. Yet Dollar was kindly able to offer me a rental for $450 for two days. I feel ripped off. A simple warning by the address that says this is NOT the airport could've saved me hours of time and hundreds.Reviewed Mar 22 2021

Pros:The staff was helpful and tried to be accommodating.Cons:The initial rental was picked up at the Atlanta Airport and the vehicles A/C stopped working and was returned at the airport South Carolina (I waited to speak to roadside over 40 minutes and never spoke to anyone) The 2nd vehicle broke down at a BUSY exit ramp where I had to direct traffic in 96 degree heat with my 77 year old father in the car and have it towed to a safe location, the Walmart parking lot. (The wait time was 71 minutes for Roadside Assistance, just to be told that I had to call back after the vehicle was towed to give its location & that I would be re imbursed for the tow charge which was $60. ) I had to arrange for someone to pick me and my father up from Walmart and take us home. After calling a 3rd time and waiting 38 minutes, I spoke with a young lady who arranged to have someone do a drop & swap but I had to meet them at the Walmart with keys to the vehicle which was 17 miles away. The 24 hr Roadside Assistance line was a huge problem. The wait times were extremely long. It was funny that after waiting so long that the agents would ask if you were OK and in a safe location and that a tow was never offered.Reviewed Sep 8 2020

Cons:We had to go all the way to the atlanta airport to pick up this vehicle. When we finally found the counter, I gave the rep our business debit card and she informed me that I had to have a round trip airline ticket to use it for the $128 rental. Had to use a credit card. I don't use credit cards so I only have 1 personal one with a small limit. She wanted to put a hold on over $600 for this $128 rental which she could have asked for up front and been paid. Didn't have $600 available so we had to leave without the truck and thus unable to complete our job. We rent U-Hauls and from Avis etc. with this card - no problem, yet we couldn't get a $128 rental pick up truck!!!Reviewed May 16 2017

Buyer BewarePros:The young man that checked me in very pleasant as were the young ladies at car pick up and return. The car that rented fit my needs at the time.Cons:I made online reservations for one price and at the check out counter my bill came to almost double that amount. I honestly couldn't afford it. When checking the additional unnecessary charges I was charged for insurance, which I didn't need, I have Geico, a car upgrade, that I didn't need and the accompanying fees and taxes. This caused me undue stress. Who wants to start a vacation with a financial tug of war? Eventually when I stated that I would only take what I originally agreed upon I left paying a price close to that I was quoted online. For these reasons I would not use Thrifty again. I prefer to avoid the bait and switch.Reviewed Feb 26 2018
