Check in and check out worlds
Pros: Rental return was an absolute breeze.
Cons: Waited for off airport shuttle transportation for at least 30 minutes and no answer to phone to request it. Waited another 1+20 minutes for the rental process to be completed. All this near midnight with a 2+40 minute drive to complete. With four renters the process seemed overwhemed. Car was somewhat clean but windshield was well spotted with bugs.

Cons: They put on extra insurance which I clearly stated I didn't want any off. The manager said "let me get real with you" and pointed to the contract.

Didn't tell the whole truth
Cons: When I asked if there would be an issue or cost for adding a second driver I was told no. But after looking at my bill I found out there was a $56 charge for an additional driver.

Pros: The shuttle drivers were very courteous and helpful.
Cons: They did not have the car we reserved available. There was not even car in the same class available. They were unwilling to do anything but offer a smaller vehicle at the same rate. The said the cause were other renters who did not turn in their vehicles on time. The had many vehicles on the lot that were in need of repair. It seems like they are not well controlled, and offer low rates to make up for abundant issues.

No cars at Advantage
Pros: The shuttle bus driver was very friendly and helpful
Cons: When I arrived, they were out of cars! They had rebooked me (at a lower rate) with another carrier, and took me over there, but the whole thing felt shady and I was a bit nervous as I was traveling solo with my baby. In the end it worked out, but I will not book with advantage again.

Pros: Nice car and more than I paid for.
Cons: Wasn't informed of their gas special which would have been cheaper than filling up at a station and easier to submit as an expense to my business. Wasn't notified that there would be an additional charge for an additional driver. Long wait at the airport. Other rental agencies had 2 or 3 vans come by before advantage came by

Maybe it's not their normal
Pros: The two guys who helped us at pick-up were nice and accommodating. Clearly something wasn't right.
Cons: We tried 3 cars; each was filthy inside. We had ants inside a days later. Seemed like everyone else had similar problems. They had a recent hail storm so maybe it wasn't their normal.

Great car - under staffed
Pros: I got upgraded for free and my car was clean and in good shape.
Cons: Waited twice as long for a shuttle than any other car rental Company and once I was picked up the driver held us in the van with no AC on (van not shuttle - so there was nowhere for bags) so that someone could follow us back to the rental car facility? Was just inconsiderate. Also, once we finally arrived there was only 1 checkout attendant... Overall, I was fine... But would have not been good for anyone in a hurry.

Pros: staff were friendly. we did not have to wait long for shuttle at SA airport nor at time of return. the minivan we rented was comfortable and easy to drive, seating as depicted on website.
Cons: we rented an 8-seat minivan for extended family. opened up the back seats and they were full of trash. luckily we were still at rental lot, but had to wait while car got re-vacuumed.

I'd definitely use Advantage again!
Pros: Easy check-in process, car was clean, everything worked. Extremely quick and easy drop-off, quick shuttle service back to the terminal.
Cons: The a/c totally did not work in the car originally assigned to me, and they were going to let me just drive off with it. The flip side is that there was no question or hassle about getting another car, even though they had to give me an upgrade; so, very little harm, and no foul overall.

Pros: I appreciated our shuttle driver that brought us to pick up our car. He gave us good tips to prepare for our drive around the city of San Antonio. The wear Ther was a mess, but getting a heads up on the flood area made it easier to maneuver. Checking the car in and out was a breeze. Thanks for having such wonderful staff.
Cons: The only disappointment was my trip was not longer. Thanks

Cons: The auto that I was issued the seat was too low and couldn't be raised making it hard to see out of the rear. Driving between 65-75 mph the front wheels shimmy making your hands feel funny.

San Antonio Advantage
Pros: not much
Cons: took over 30 minutes for the shuttle to show up and get me to the rental car lot. I tried calling at least 15 times and the line was always busy. The car I got was really beat up, dented and dirty inside. customer service didn't seem to be a high priority. I will not likely rent from them again.

Pros: Vehicle was clean, desk clerk was well mannered and professional. Checkout and return were quick.
Cons: Only 2 parking spots by office. Gate employee was annoyed when I couldn't produce inspection form- he was more annoyed when he saw it in the cup holder! How am I to know what a veh insp form is??? Had to find a creepy swing gate in back fence to get to where my truck was parked. Gate guy and desk guy fist bumped and talked sports at desk- didn't seem very professional (they were both 25 y/o African American, I am 55 y/o Christian/ Anglo/ Veteran) ...awkward.

Pros: Close to airport. Shuttle service timely.
Cons: Original online quote was $154...ended up being $230 when all was said and done. Kinda bait and switch although I did add an extra driver and paid ahead of time for gas tank fillup. Facility was dirty--I wouldn't use their bathroom. Car was also needing a good cleaning inside--stains all over the seats. In the end, don't think this "budget" car rental company was worth it.

Terrible customer service. Staff were rude to seve
Pros: I liked that the car was in good condition.
Cons: I will never go back here. The staff were rude. They tended to the customers when they wanted to. They would hide in the back office. Im not sure if they did this for entertainment. A gentleman came in without a reservation and asked for a car. The staff said, we aint got any cars." The guy asked if he needed to reserve online and the staff responded, "what are you not getting? We dont have any cars." The staff acted like street people without training.

Pros: People who picked us up and dropped us off were great. The location of the actual office is bit ride. The agent who checked us out was extremely nice and accommodating. The car was great - a brand new Camry! The price was very reasonable.
Cons: I was very pleased with Advantage in AAT.

Pros: The only good person was the young man checking me out of the lot. He was being over worked that evening and by himself.
Cons: They are not located at the airport. Must take there van to there office. I was charged a deposit of my credit card that I was not expecting. The manager told me to chill. She did not like to be questioned. The car was not ready. Once I got the car it was wet, Windows wet and not completely dried off. I will never rent from them again. Extremely poor customer service from the manager on down.

Pickup experience not ok...
Cons: After arriving at the pickup area with our kids and bags - we expected to pick up the car in less than 15 minutes... it took over an hour. First, we were told that we'd need to put down a $200 deposit. That was NOT explained clearly when booking the reservation and is not something we've been asked to do at other rental agencies. Second, we were told that our card would not go through. We tried it three times and then called the bank to see if there was a lock on the account due to traveling so far from our usual area of account activity. The quickly added the travel advisory to the account to ensure transactions could process from where we were. Again, the agent ran the card and again stated it had not been cleared. This happened six more times. In between each "try", the agent helped other customers (who had not been asked for a deposit). An hour later, we called the bank and had them stay on the phone to ensure plenty of funds were available and that the transaction was cleared. The agent ran the card again - denied. This time he claimed my credit had been denied. I've NEVER had a credit check to rent a car in my life! Nor did I fill out any paperwork authorizing such a thing to take place. Finally, my fellow traveler had to use her credit card to rent the vehicle with the deposit - but surprising without a credit check. I had to be added as an additional driver at an extra cost of about $10 per day. A cost we didn't need to pay had the agent simply accepted payment from my account. To top it off - we had to witness employees fighting and cursing at each other in front of my children as we loaded into the car. As a Veteran, Federal Employee, and frequent traveler - I expected better treatment. I would rather walk than deal with Advantage rental ever again. Never again.

Cons: Turned car in on scheduled day then two days later they called meand wanted to know when I was going to turn the car in. They lost there own car. Hope they found it cause i left on their lot.

Not what I expected
Pros: The vehicle got good fuel mileage.
Cons: Booked a "Jeep or similar". I don't think a tiny Mitsubishi SUV is at all similar to a Jeep. If you don't have Jeeps, allow us the courtesy to call it what it is. "Mitsubishi or similar" Booked a rental from Advantage based primarily on the fact that the location said "In terminal" . Fount out that this was a blatant lie. There is an in terminal counter that is not staffed. To get to the staffed counter and car, you HAVE TO TAKE A SHUTTLE. Don't call it "IN TERMINAL" if it is NOT. I didn't want to wait for a shuttle, heft my luggage on and off the shuttle, wait in line at the rental lot because I was last getting my luggage off the crowded shuttle while thinking about how the return trip would be exactly the same. AND I'll have to leave 45 min earlier just to return the car and wait for the shuttle again! $65.00 for a one day rental so you can deal with the company's misrepresentation and lies is ridiculous.

Slow pickup, car smelled powerfully of upholstery
Pros: The price was 1/3 less than the nearest competitor. Returning the car was very fast.
Cons: Waited for the shuttle for more than 10 minutes. When we got to the counter there were two attendants and four people ahead of me in line, but it took over thirty minutes to get a car. Once we got the car, it had just come through the washing process and smelled powerfully of what I presume was upholstery shampoo since the seats were ever so slightly damp. We drove with the windows open for the first day until the smell went away.

Pros: Overall a great experience. I was nervous not renting from one of the big companies but the value was outstanding and I couldn't pass it up. I ended up with an extra passenger and needed to upgrade to a larger vehicle and they were very accommodating and gave us a mini van for a very reasonable price (versus the outrageous prices usually charged for mini vans). All the rental companies were off site and we arrived on Christmas day so I was a bit worried about how often a shuttle would show up. We waited maybe 5 or 10 minutes max and once we got to the facility everything moved quickly and smoothly. Drop off was a breeze as well. I would definitely rent from Advantage again.

Cons: The listing stated that the business was "in terminal", so I choose it solely because I didn't want to have to take a shuttle to pick up the car. This is NOT TRUE! It was actually the furthest rental place from the SAT terminal. Also, I had to wait 10-15 minutes at 0500 when dropping the car off because the office a was locked. Not good when you have an early flight to catch.

Advantage much better than Hertz in SAT
Pros: Easy in and out. Very good price, our vehicle only had 500 miles on it.
Cons: Physical inspection of the car, outbound and inbound.

Cons: flight at 6 am, your office opened at 5, almost missed flight! Your offices location was not at airport as advertised, never again! you need to tell the truth about where your location is, not at the airport!

Pros: Access to a bathroom at the pickup location. Found my charger/cell phone dock before i left them.
Cons: 1)Pickup van took 45 minutes to get to the airpiort on arrival. 2) We called 10 minutes before we returned to have them keep the van since we were running late. The guy on the phone said the van was there. The van left right as we pulled in, the driver just looking at us as we frantically waived her down. 3) On arrival the clerk told us the fuel prebuy would be prorated if we brought back the tank at half. 4) The person checking the car at the beginning and end had zero experience at costumer service, bordering on rudeness. 5) The car was 4,000 miles past service when we discovered the warning on our 3rd day. 6) The clerk was visibly annoyed when I kept asking what the items I was initializing were about. 7) Was given an SUV upgrade which was ok, but really wanted a more economic car. Please pay the couple of dollars extra and go with a good rental company, namely any but this one. You have been warned. We expect better of Kayak, they should remove this company from their list of recommended companies.

Missinformation from employees lead to disaster.
Pros: Car was comfortable to drive.
Cons: I called the night before my drop off to make sure there would be a shuttle available early in the morning. I was planning on dropping off at 5:30am. I was told that not only would there not be a shuttle but that the location would not be open until 6am and I could not return until that time which would make me miss my flight. I ended up having to change my flight to a later time which cost $150. When I went to return the car at 6am I saw that they were open at 5am for drop offs. I will never use Advantage again.

Cons: The inside of the van was a little worn worn down. Especially the seat that can be taken off in the middle. The very back seat belts didn't lock when the van was moving.

Not overly impressed
Pros: I was provided a Toyota Camry, which was convenient since our family drives a similar upgraded model at home.
Cons: The car had 32K miles, bald tires undetected for the first 4 days and damaged front grill from prior drivers running into parking curbs (I had to snap loose parts back in place prior to leaving the lot on day 1). Camry's have little front end clearance and should always be backed into parking locations to prevent this problem. As with most other car rental companies, Advantage attaches all car keys to a heavy cable for the Rental company convenience - not the customer. They keys must be detachable to permit at least one key to remain with the customer comfortably. Suggest revising this process and make the customer responsible for any lost keys. Use Advantage Again- Humm????
