They made a mistake and gave us the wrong car at the first rental car pickup, but then they were nice enough to make it up free of charge at the second pickup location.Cons:
The first pickup location (the original), did not have any compact cars, only trucks and SUV's, which we did not want at all. So we had to take part of a day from our vacation replacing the car, which took a few hours and some very unhelpful people at the national budget phone line (when I called, I couldn't talk to any local representatives, only national and they did not seem to understand my request). The car we finally got was also not great at accelerating, which made entering the freeway a little hard every time we tried.2.0 Poor

Budget didn't honor the price of the reservation, is charging us double the rate quoted in the booking. When we tried to correct the error, we've been given the run-around. We've been given 5 different customer service numbers to call and still haven't reached a representative to help sort out the issue. The staff and manager we've talked to say they can't do anything, we have to reach customer service, who won't answer the phone or emails. Plus, a part fell off the car on the highway, which I'm sure they'll charge us for too. I will never rent from Budget again!6.0 Okay

I'd informed the counter at the time of pickup that I intended to drop the car off the next day. The counter failed to inform me that, due to the MLK holiday (Jan 16), the dropoff site at Webster St would close early, at 1pm. The site was closed when I arrived at 2:30pm, with a homemade sign on the door noting the early holiday closing hour. After a long call with several agents on the phone, they told me I'd need to drop the car off at Oakland airport. I spent about an hour in traffic and $20 on a taxi because the desk failed to inform me that I needed to have the car back by 1pm on Jan 16.Hertz

Poor customer service at Courtyard Marriott Emeryville. Yes, we arrived near closing, not aware of the closing hours. They did not have a car for us that we prepaid for, nor did they have a similar car. Will not use kayak, nor Hertz at this location again. Nor will I recommend anyone else to do so.Cons:

I picked my car on Friday 4/2/2021 and sropped off the same day at a dfferent location. On Monday, I received an email that I was a no-show for my rental pick upi and that a charge of $50 will be applied to my credit card. I tried to call but the cale was disconnected twice and after that there was a problem wtih a website. Absolutely a dishonest service! I am shocked!8.0 Very good

This was a little far and might have been a 30 dollar uber to the Oakland airport but I had a friend to take me anyway...
