Cons: The staff were not particularly friendly and did not appear to be well-trained in customer service. When the credit card machine would not read my corporate card, the staff member was not particularly sympathetic about the situation and was prepared to end the transaction without my rental. Apparently this is corporate policy now, because she had no way to key in my card number, but she wasn't friendly or understanding about it.

Cons: Go to Alamo instead. Dollar tricks you into saying yes to insurance that is not mandatory. For me, that resulted in a rental cost that was nearly three times what appeared in the online reservation. Then they hold an additional $200 on your credit card. So, had I been stupid enough to carry out the transaction, the $103 charge I was expecting became a $500 hold on my card. I said no thanks and went to Alamo, where they don't hold the additional charge and they don't try to trick you into insurance that heavily inflates the rental cost. The charge they submitted at the time of the reservation was the real, actual final charge. They're also really nice and they give you bottled water (Alamo, NOT Dollar).

Everything good except the false price
Cons: Kayak said the price would be about $79, and it ended up as about $89. Kayak said it would be $20 per day, and Dollar charged $25. I'm not if this is Kayak's or Dollar's fault, but either way, that sucks.

Cons: I wasn't able to rent a car from Dollar,because of their new policies against using debit/credit cards. Additionally, Dollar wanted to charge a $350 deposit for a $78 rental. I was forced to find another company to rent from at 1 am.

Worst rental experience ever
Pros: Nothing was likeable.
Cons: The Dollar shuttle never showed up at the Detroit airport, and it was really cold outside, so a shuttle driver from a rival company offered to drop us off as it was on his route. When we got to the Dollar/Thrifty rental place, there was one agent working the counter----at 6 PM the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The line was huge, and people at the front of the line told me they had been waiting for over two hours. When customers got upset the Dollar representative screamed and threatened to cancel their reservations. People repeatedly asked to speak to a manager and they refused to locate one. I used my smartphone and booked a car with a rival company for $300 more and walked over to their building and only waited five minutes in line. I must have seen 10-15 other families/individuals do the same thing once they saw the abysmal situation at Dollar. I will never book a car with Dollar again.

Cons: Dollar does not accept debit cards for rentals. This "new" policy is only available via handmade sign sitting on rental desk.
Pros: The employee and her manager were very friendly and they went out of their way to accommodate us. I was amazed since I have not had this kind of service at other rental car agencies.

Pros: The car was clean and nice.
Cons: The lines were long. Adding spouse as driver would have required additional $10/day, so made this unaffordable for the long rental period. The electronic process didn't work, so we ended up in the in-person line anyway.

Easy, fast, great experience
Pros: The pickup and dropoff process was a well oiled machine. There were 3-4 cars in the class that I had reserved available for me to choose from, all of which were in good condition. My chosen SUV was clean and drove well. No issues and altogether a great experience/value.

Adding spourse to rental cost extra
Pros: I liked that you could pick any mid-size car that you wanted. Great customer satisfaction.
Cons: When we have rented from Alamo previously, the spouse was able to be added as a driver free of charge. For some reason, the rental in Detroit charged an extra $10 per day to list my spouse.
Cons: Look up the address of the drop off ahead of time - slightly confusing to find.

Pros: Staff at Detroit airport was fantastic. The team went out of their way to get me the right vehicle with features I wanted.
Cons: Pickup was my best car pick up experience possibly ever. Great team.

Cons: my biggest complaint is being totally ripped off for having gas put in. there were no gas stations locally and was pressed for time to make flight. I had to pay more than the cost of renting the car fro two days just to have gas put in it. my rental fees were $97.15 and i was charged an additional $127.42 because didn't fill it with gas. The car was a Chevy Impala.
Pros: The employees; at pick up, check out & return!
Cons: Not a fan of the jeep compass; driver seat not comfortable large blind spots.

Pros: The automated system when calling was convenient and had a lot of options
Cons: The bad thing about the automated system is it seemed almost impossible to speak to a real person I had a simple question that the automated system was not able to answer it took me about 4 hours three phone calls and maybe 3 days to actually get a actual person to answer a simple question which took them three minutes to answer answer for me maybe having the option to speak to a real person in the beginning menu should be a thing although your automated call system has a lot of options to choose from from Renton to drop it off at a different location and all other things some people just like to speak to a real person I believe giving them that option will set you ahead of the competition
Pros: The car was great and drop off was quick and easy.
Cons: The pickup was terrible. Attendant in the lot just stared right through me as I asked a question 3 times and then yelled into his radio. Eventually I gave up and figured it out myself. He never acknowledged that I was even standing there. Then i walked all the way across the lot to the building and the clerk inside asked a bunch of questions about insurance even though I purchased it when I booked the car. I didn't know it was third party but he acted like it was no good. Then told me to go out by the fence to get a truck. The only vehicles by the fence were needing maintenance. Someone drove by and told me to go back in and have him call for one. So I did. Waited 15 more minutes and the lady from Alamo came to ask if I was waiting for a truck and that it had been parked on the other side.

Cons: Your website had a picture of a convertible which is what we wanted. Of course there were none but the people from National said that this is a trick by Kyak to deceive their customers. We were really wanting that car and got screwed. Thanks for the LIE
