Securing a car rental in Staten Island is critical if you want to maximize your time in the borough. What’s more, having a rental car in Staten Island provides you with easy access to other boroughs, as well as to the northern part of New Jersey.
If you are flying into the area, you’ll likely land at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) or John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)—both of which are located in New York City's Queens borough. Each airport has service desks for brand-name rental car companies like Hertz, National, Enterprise, Alamo and others. From LGA, you can expect all shuttles for car rentals to pick up and drop off at Terminal A—the shuttle will take you to the car park facilities for each of the companies, which are located in disparate areas throughout the airport’s property. If you have landed at JFK, simply take the AirTrain to the rental car location and head to level three to grab your vehicle.
Traffic in Staten Island, as with all the boroughs in New York City, is an unending stop-and-start race through traffic lights. In areas where there are bars, restaurants and nightclubs, keep vigilant for pedestrians crossing the road, especially in undesignated areas.

I spent over three hours going back-and-forth before I could get a car, because they did not honor the original agreement saying that it was Memorial Day weekend and they would charge me for Tuesday even though I was dropping the car off on Monday, it’s a scam. They said they had to create a new agreement and not use the old one, I now I have to call Budget customer service for a refund, the customer service office told me that I need to call after I complete my trip. This was the worst experience I’ve ever had renting a car.
The service I received was very good. I got a free up grade and was quite surprised!

Pros:
The mileage on the car was excellent.
Cons:
Guy at the front desk was incredibly nice when going to pick up the car. However, at drop off he was a completely different person. Picked up my rental and it had cigarette smell that increased overtime and the car said “Maintenance Required”. It drove well but he just waved his hands and said I’d be fine. Willing to give them another shot but you could tell they’re just there to collect a paycheck. Would be nice if these people cared more about the service. Especially since I brought up all those things, the response was “well what can ya do *shrug*. No compensation or anything. I guess you’re better off just going to enterprise.
