We waited for 3 1/2 hours after our schedule pick up time awful servic
Pros: The rental car was nice
Cons: I was scheduled to pick up the car at 8 AM the customer service didn't arrive until 9 AM Done even though the cars were sitting in the parking lot they couldn't get the paperwork together until after 1130

Cons: That I wasn't provided a spare tire and had to pay for a taxi costing more than Hertz would reimburse plus the cost of AAA to tow the rental car for a simple tire replacement plus getting stranded without a replacement vehicle 17 hours but still charged the FULL rental fees

Cons: it was 40 miles away from the airport. I started my search at airport rentals and somehow was changed to a different location and didn't see that until it was to late.

Pros: The car was just what I needed.
Cons: Not being given an option to return the tank full instead of having to pay for a full tank. Wound up using less than one-third of the tank during the 4-day rental.

Pros: The car was clean and I didn't have to wait too long at pickup which has been an issue in the past.
Cons: I picked the car up at the airport. Upon pickup the girl told me that I should drop it off downtown (20 miles away). I told her that was an error and I was picking up and dropping off at the airport. She indicated that she understood and would fix the issue. When I dropped off the car at the airport it became clear the first employee had not corrected their records. I was told that I should have dropped the vehicle downtown. I explained that was inaccurate and an error on their end but they ended up charging me an additional $20 which I didn't have time to dispute because I was running late for my flight by this point.

Pros: The car was fine. rental place was way too far from airport, but getting there via shuttle was not that bad, just added an extra 20 min
Cons: I did not get a receipt, system was broken when I dropped off car.The person I dropped the car off to was in such a bad mood, I thought he was gong to kick the car. he was so visibly mad that I thought he was going to do damage to something. He told me" I can't give you a receipt, I can't ******* do anything just get out of here and get on the ****** shuttle. He said it would generate a email...never received that either. I need to call Hertz this morning to make certain that they actually have me as dropping the car off. not happy

Pros: Excellent experience with Hertz. Received a new, clean, gas efficient, iPhone charging, Spotify playing car for a very reasonable price on Kayak. Despite having to extend my drive by 4 extra hours, the ordeal was doable because I was able to get a comfortable car at a rate a graduate student could actually afford. Additional bonus, a 24 hour pick up and drop off location. Saved me quite a hassle and the customer service was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It is understood that drivers under 25 are expected to pay an extra fee, but I wish the additional cost of this fee was easier to find. Less surprises during the final billing that way.

Cons: scheduled rental for airport pickup, but car was reserved for off-site pick-up somehow. caused a bit of angst and delay that was unneccessary.

Cons: Windshield fluid froze up - so I assume it had water in it, otherwise I won't thought it would have frozen.

Pros: Abandoned with no car after I paid
Cons: No way to talk to customer service. Didn't get a car that I had already paid for. Had to pay high rates from another company just to get a car that I paid Hertz for. Never again using them.

Pros: Bianca at the Hertz counter in Cleveland was amazing in the early morning hours. Our flight was delayed, Bianca was the only one working. The line was long and I was at the end of it. It looked like another half hour already tacked on to a longer than necessary trip. But with cheerfulness and efficiency, Bianca moved the line, and I moved from cranky to grateful.

Stick to my choice
Pros: Clean car but Never Lost needs a sheet of instructions (particularly to set sound level). Hertz cannot help the ridiculous location and difficulty of getting to and from their rentals.location at CLE Hopkins.

Nonexistent Car Return site
Pros: Car was nice and checkout was easy.
Cons: The site that Hertz told us to return the car to, Alan Vigil Ford Autobody Repair, is now an Enterprise Rental site. Your data base needs to be updated. We we're terribly inconvenienced, had to dive 30 mins away to return the car and missed two appointments due to being late. not a great first experience with Hertz.

Pros: The car was great but it came without a snow scrapper and we are in Cleveland and the car froze over so easily. Also the car had no windshield wiper fluid so I couldn't really see. When I complained they were hardly appalegetic

I didn't know cars existed with this few features
Pros: The price was great for this rental. I just did not realize that cars this stripped down with no features still existed so I would have paid more to be comfortable and have some more features.
Cons: The car (no cruise control, no remote mirrors, a 6" trunk, plastic and cheapness)

Kayak rate not charged at counter
Pros: Clean car - al in great shape At drop off - very smooth, well trained and friendly, polite check in staff
Cons: When picking up car, rate Hertz attempted to charge was 30% higher than rate I had booked. Booked $49 (& change) rate on Kayak. Confirmation indicated that I was charged full daily rate of rental and charge included all taxes and fees. At rental counter, they indicated full charge of approx. $65. After booking, card was actually charged approx. $35 (rental only) and there was an additional $30 in taxes/fees due at the counter. After 45min and a phone call with supervisor, they agreed to only charge me the additional (approx) $15, bringing my rental to the original $49.xx cost. Hertz claims that additional CLE airport fees were not included in original quote, they agreed to waive that for me at that time to get rate down to original rate that I booked. Big time waster and frustrating experience overall. First time booking car with Kayak after years of trouble-free bookings on other sites. Will not be booking cars on Kayak in the future.

Smokey car and hidden fees!
Pros: Easy pick up and drop off.
Cons: Car had been smoked in previously and the fees and taxes doubled the price of the rental!

Pros: The price and the ease of dropoff.
Cons: The pickup. The Altima that they brought up looked great but they could not find it in their system. Took over 30 minutes of them trying to figure it out before they gave up and brought up an Nissan Rogue SUV which I didn't order but took so I could get out of there. I did end up liking the Rogue but the experience at the counter was horrible

Cons: When I went to pick up my rental it took 90 minutes just to get the paperwork done for the rental. Then we decided to add a day to our trip and they wouldn't honor our rate and tried to charge is for a weekly rate that was $200 more then our original bill. Management came to speak with us and was not helpful in anyway. We eventually stood there so long trying to figure it out that we just cancelled our whole rental and went with someone else.

Had to wait over an hour for our vehicle
Pros: The vehicle was fine, but the fact that Hertz wasted an hour of my precious vacation time was inexcusable.
Cons: When we arrived to pick up our vehicle we had to wait over an hour until one was available. There were about 10 people in front of us also waiting for vehicles. We were not early - we arrived at the time we reserved (slightly later, in fact). As a result of this, we were late to our intended destination.

CLE = BKL. NOT!
Pros: I used the Kayak interface to book my flight and rental car, but mistakenly did them as separate transactions. The result was i flew into Cleveland Hopkins airport and my rental car was at Cleveland Burke Lakefront airport. The Hertz counter personnel could not do anything to fix my reservation and instead told me to call the 800 number on a Hertz advertisement card they politely handed me. I called the number and was told Hertz could not give me the earlier rate and was then quoted a new rate which was over twice as expensive as the booked rate. This was all occurring at midnight so i was getting a little nervous. I immediately went to my Avis app on my phone and was quoted a better rate for a better vehicle. I asked the Hertz counter personnel if they would match that offer and they said they couldn't. I walked three counters over and rented from Avis.
Cons: Hertz was shamelessly taking advantage of my plight, not even willing to salvage the reservation when given a competitor's quote they could have easily matched and still made more than my booked rate.

Rental location did not exist, was not able to get
Pros: not much
Cons: I booked a rental for a sunday a.m. pick up at Burke Airport in Cleveland. When I went to the pick up location, I discovered that there was no Hertz rental office at that location. Calls to Hertz were unhelpful as well; an agent, who was very hard to understand (sounded like an Indian call center?) simply kept telling me that there is no Hertz office at that airport, and told me to go to the main Cleveland airport to get a car, for much more money. I abandoned that plan and went to Enterprise in downtown Cleveland to get a car immedieately, and for less money than the original Hertz reservation.

Hertz Saved The Day
Pros: I somehow booked at the wrong location through Kayak, but Hertz was able to fix everything and get me the car I needed for close to the same price at the right airport.
Cons: Next time I will reserve through the Hertz system itself rather than a third party.

Cons: The rental wasn't thoroughly cleaned. I also had difficulties with my reservation, making several changes. Initial pick up was at a private airport which no one told me I could not pick up without flying into that airport. Good thing I called ahead about a question, otherwise I wouldn't of had a rental for my vacation. The pick up location was changed to an airport, which was a two hour round trip.

Pros: NOTHING !!!
Cons: They say that they are at the airport (they are at a private airport 30 mi away) they even ask for your flight number. They tell you they have a shuttle. All leading you to believe you have rented at the Cleveland International airport. You find out when you get there that your car is 30 mi away and you have to get your own transportation at 11:45 pm. Then to get the same car at the Real airport is an additional $100. Never will I rent from Hertz Again !!! Also customer service is Overseas and they do not understand your problem.

Pickup spot dosnt exisst.
Pros: Car was new.
Cons: I rented a car from Hertz Burke Airport in Cleveland. Hertz closed its office at that airport 6 months ago. Had to take a $40 cab ride to the nearest open location. My car was covered in its shipping stickers. All doors had seals that said "do not open".

Pros: Pick up was relatively easy. The car handled well. Drop off was relatively easy.
Cons: I was not offered any type of upgrade options. The compact car (Hyundai Accent) I rented did not have cruise control for a long highway drive which was tiring. The car windshield also did not have any type of sun protection and I ended up getting sunburned through the glass during my drive.

Pros: The car - a Hyundai Accent - was amazing. I rent a lot, always choosing economy/compact because of price (I don't need to show off for business with a bigger vehicle, and I like to save on gas) and the Hyundais (any one of them) are miles above all of the Chevy's (total trash), Toyotas (decent but not nearly as nice), Fiats (crappy gas mileage for such a small car, and no space), and
Cons: car interior was dirty and bumper was detached in the front. clerk was alone servicing a big group of people, however, the lady in front of us had a card problem and needed to call her bank which put her on hold for a looooong time. The clerk just waited around until I asked him to start our reservation (we were next in line). It didn't make sense for us to be kept waiting seeing as the lady still didn't get on the phone with a teller as we were already leaving.
