easy access to monument and transport. The cleanliness of the hotel
Great, comfortable bed, clean room and very friendly and helpful staff In the morning the noise level coming from other guests and/or cleaners opening and closing other room doors and talking in the corridor was quite high. Luckily my room had a second door that helped to reduce this noise somewhat. Slightly better noise insulation from the hallway would be a significant improvement.
the staff was very helpfull and ansewred our questions with smile. in the firsy night we wanted to switch the room, due to noises we heard from behind the wall (the elevaitor was close). the switched our room no problem at all, and we got even bigger room from the first one. they also help us with reccomendations on places to visit and resturants.
The bed and bathroom. And the hotel always smelt lovely and clean. Disabled facilities were great.
Great hotel location (Central and near metro and bus stations). The hotel is very old where it must be renovated in my opinion.
We enjoyed the situation of the hotel very central and near metro and bus stations. A special mention for the beds who were particularly comfortable.
Well located near Plaza Espana. Close to restaurants, convenience store. Short cab rides to major attractions. Garage on property. Caters to Americans. Business and leisure clients. Excellent beds. Bilingual staff is very helpful. No
Very, naturally friendly people at reception. Seldom nowadays. Rooms on the small side but nicely appointed.
Comfortable bed expensive breakfast
It was a very warm spell during our stay but the room temperature was quite good. Better than some more modern hotels. The food was disgusting. I eat very, very little of the one evening meal we took - and got food poisoning. I am still unwell, 3 days later.
Location. Friendly & helpful staff. Bar was only open on demand and staffed from reception. I would prefer a "breakfast included" deal.
ease of parking and access to major roadways good breakfast service lack of free use of PC's with nternet access
Good location Easy Access to city centre and Metro Hotel requires decorating and general upgrade
1. Price Old and very run down.
Close to the city center. Plaza De Espana is 2 minutes far walking. Internet was not working at all. The receptions told me that it was due to fact that my room was far form the access point..... They suggest me to go outside of my room to use internet...
cleanliness no parking
Excellent location, near Plaza España. I travel with my dog, dog welcome (notified with booking), but very expensive. Garage next door, easy access from the North towards Madrid (i.e. A6). Noticed other people complaining about room, but I got an excellent twin room at the back side of the hotel, so very quiet. Bathroom fine. Breakfast good. Didn't dine here. I spent six days here and found it comfortable enough. The surrounding parks are great when travelling with a dog. Hotel is used by many groups, some can be quite noisy. High cost of dog not notified to me in advance. When I asked about this they told me "But you made your reservation through Internet", as if that should make a difference. Hotel seems to be in need of refurnishing but not to the point that this is annoying. Poor plant on Floor 3 didn't survive neglect of staff, guests must have watered it, but is was too late...
Front desk staff superb, our room was very comfortable and within walking distance for everything, so we though it was perfrect! We asked for a king or queen bed, non smoking, and got twin beds, the smell of smoke lingered in the air, but I imagine there is not a lot you can do about that. Smell of cigarettes....
The Cason det Tormes has an excellent quiet location, being in a side street only a short walk from the Plaza de Espana metro where 3 metro lines cross. A couple of things I especially liked about our room were the blackout curtains wich made it easy to sleep on in the morning after late nights out (essential in Madrid!), plus the shower was really powerful. The staff at reception were friendly and quickly recognised us and knew our room number: a nice personal touch which is often missing in other city hotels. On our last day we were able to leave luggage free of charge to collect at the end of the day before we went to the airport. We had asked for a double room, but unfortunately the hotel staff did not notice this request and gave us a twin room. They did offer to move us the following day, but we decided to stay where we were as the room was quiet and comfortable.
Position near metro The noice from the neighbouring rooms
The location that was excellent, near of the Gran Via and other touristic atractions.
Location is perfect. Very quiet. WIFI works great. Staff are nice Nothing
The friendliness of the staff
Very calm. It should be noticed that the price/quality is a great plus of this hotel. We realy liked this hotel and I guess it would be hard to find better for this price. Metro station is 2min. walk and the royal palace 5 min. maximum. Go there It stays a 3 starts, but it is a very good 3 starts
Staff were always pleasant and helpfull and fluent in English.
proximity to downtown, but not on major street, so not too noisy
Value for money for a clean room that is 2 minutes away from the main shopping district in Madrid. The hotel is located in a small lane, not that we encountered any serious issues with safety. As others have said, the water pressure of the shower is really low, although thankfully, hot water is always available.
Great location. Helpful staff. Clean and spacious room.
Location Counter staff quite curt. No attempt to make a visitor to their country feel welcome.
This hotel is so bad and it should be 2 star max the rooms are not clean , toilets are also not clean and old fixtures with no maintaince, no proper aminites as in any 4 star hotel ,Breakfast is poor an ,overall it is not a hotel to be recommend , nothing
Good central location A little shabby
were left in peace to sleep as long as we liked!! room was a bit noisey (could hear plumbing)
location of hotel, staff could speak English
if you are sensetive to the noises and commotion, i do not recommend this hotel. you can always hear not only noises in the street (during whole night) but also the voices behind the wall of other rooms.
The Location is excellent as you can walk across the street to the Pio Principle train station. There is also a small shopping mall there as well. The price is inexpensive. The room Air conditioning was almost non existent. It was very warm in Madrid when we stayed. I need to be under the covers when I sleep. The pillows were the worst I have ever encountered! They were long and thin so they offered no head support. If you folded them in half it was worse because it became very firm and uncomfortable like sleeping on a bath towel that was rolled up and then folded in half. I need absolute darkness to sleep. The light illuminating from the TV literally lit the room up. It wasn't until our last night that I figured to cover the TV with blankets. The walls and ceilings seem thin because I heard banging and conversations going on in other rooms, both above and on the side of me. You could even hear the people across the hall. The complimentary breakfast buffet also was not worth even going to. Everything was not only substandard and cheap, but while we were there the hotel was at capacity, so the buffet area was extremely loud, and everyone was grabbing food as fast as they could. We ate breakfast outside each day after that. Bottom line...Spend a few extra bucks for a more comfortable hotel, with a better breakfast!
The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and had wonderful views over the Royal Palace. Access to the city centre was walkable or useof the "R" underground route ran every three minutes and got you to "Opera" close to the city centre. Perfect location for a quiet comfortable good value for money hotel.
clean cold in the rooms, very noissy from elevators
Good quiet location, but only a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro, and a 15 minute walk to the Real Palace. Staff were always helpful when asked for advice on tours, the metro, etc Breakfast could have had more variety (eg yoghurts, some eggs, etc.....as an Australian I guess I just can't get the hang of eating meat and cheese rolls for breakfast!!!), I ended up buying breakfast ingresients from a supermarket for a few of the mornings
Location & Help-full reception staff Room requires small fridge not mini-bar type
Rooms were nice Staff was helpful Nearby transportation
It was functional but Spartan. Good location. Good breakfast, we got two for one (12E) but would not have paid for one. Front desk staff very nice. Could have been more comfortable.
Very good location, near to main area, but back off main street so nice and quiet. Very clean and modern
Simple but good rooms, big beds, nice little kitchen, good safe, spacious and well-protected parking place beneath the hotel.
Very helpful, friendly and polite hotel staff, nice & clean rooms, nice buffet breakfast (until 11:00 Hrs), good price, good location close to the area where I needed to be : highly recommended no water boiler in the room to make your own coffee/tea.
The location is very good: the centre but the quiet street at the same time. But opposite to the hotel is the school so you won't sleep after 8.30 (the children won't let you), if only you are not lucky to have windows on the inner court. The rooms are rather spacy (specially in comparison with Paris hotels), the facilities are good. They have mini-bar, fan, condition. The style is also very nice. It was not as quiet as I expected thanks to the school opposite the hotel. And the breakfast could have been more "healthy" (more fruits, yogurt etc). But to say truth the hotel is nearly perfect, I can't say that I really didn't like anything.
The front desk staff - in particular a gentleman named Alex was extremely helpful. Since we are from the US, we needed a lot of advice for getting around in Madrid. There was no espresso bar or place to get a mixed drink in the hotel. Also, to eat anything substantial for lunch or dinner, you had to leave the hotel or cook in your room.
One thing - I did not understand when booking that I had to request certain facilities that were listed - eg tea/coffee making and kitchen equipment
The room & staff No!!
