Nice service from the staff N/A
Great location: shops, restaurants, bars and an underground station just around the corner. The room was quite spacious and had a small balcony. The staff was really friendly. The room was very noisy. To some point I do understand that because Gran Via is just under the window but then again the insulation of balcony doors could have been more proper and the windows thicker. And frankly, the room (inlcuding the bathroom) needs a serious updating. And there was no safety deposit box. Or there actually was one but it had no lock on it.
the ground of the bathroom was dirty around the WC. The frame of the door of the bathroom is broken.
service room standard not so good
spacious rooms the variety of breakfast
good location. good hotel
the view from the balcony was superb. the room was large. no emphasis on free sauna etc
Location View from the window on a interior court
Clean and comfortable hotel, bathrooms have some unique designs which make your stay that bit more interesting. Good loaction for staying in the city.
delightful art, furnishings and decoration; storage of luggage on final afternoon; jacussi advertised but not yet available; small room
Location was excellent The breakfst was quite expensive for what was offered
The Restaurant The Mini Bar to be replenished every day
Cleanliness of the room and bathroom, and quality of the rich breakfast Tiny dimensions of the room with double bed not exceeding 1.3 m in width
The staff could not have been more helpful. One of my credit cards was stolen and they really did everything they could to assist. The room was small, even for central Madrid. The cost of the room was high for its size, but it would be unfair to single this hotel out. Comparable hotels at this location are all the same.
Comfort, central position, friendly staff Extremely noisy, especially at night. Very poor sound proofing - we could hear the man next door snoring!
I am satisfied with the Hotel. The location is in the centre, free Wi-Fi (I even have it in my room as well not only in public places), friendly staff, good breakfast.
the excellent location of the hotel in center of city! good breakfast until 11 a.m. unfortunately we didn't sleep 2 nights, very noisy outside until 6 a.m. on thursday! poor isolation of windows and walls, so we could hear when neighbours used toilet and spoke. quite little room for 2 persons and room doesn't correspond with those pictures, that are shown in internet!!! very old-fashioned and has specific smell.
Great Location! Second time in this hotel and I wouldn't try staying anywhere else.
The location of the hotel was perfect and so was the parking service which is so difficult to find in hotels nearby. The room was really good, really confortable and clean. The staff were very helpful. The beds were too small for a hotel like this and I don't understand how possible it is to have staff in the reception who speak english so so bad!!
location quality dropped a bit compared with my visit 5 year ago
swimming pool room walls where damaged: visible has had a water leakage on the roof, poor facilities, small room, not enough water pressure in the shower.
Location is perfect. Wi Fi it far too expensive. View.
Location - excellent size room - TV channels poor - I do not watch TV but others may and would find it dissapointing
Location, helpfulness from staff, roof pool, fantastic room - two showers!! and great view also
The roof pool and the central location of the hotel
The hotel's location is a huge asset. It's central location enhances access to the various interests in the city. Room was slightly smaller than expected - but acceptable nontheless.
-The location was great -Staff was very helpful -The pool and roof deck were amazing -Hotel was very clean -The wifi was slow and it had a two device limit -The room was somewhat small
Only the pool is the only big pool in Gran via sed the is open till 9 pm when summer time in Madrid is light till 11 pm First when I arrive after long fly from New York the told me the room no ready I bin waiting from 9 am till 2:30 pm service sooo slow line for the front desk is over size waiting and the worst the don't speak English well , when I get the room finely it was look sooo different from the pic and so small that I was can move there I sleep I wake up and I cancel all my rest of the stay in this hotel and I go to other hotel horrible experience never recomed this hotel
loction executive lounge marginal, no wine available
hotel statt , facilities , cleqnliness of hotel and room , situation of hotel hard of Madrid
Location Small reception area
The location was great, the staff spoke english, the rooms were quite comfortable, and they had good toiletries Elevators were quite small, as was the lobby. Room lost power and had to change rooms. But they were very accommodating and it was easy to do.
Excellent placement, excellent breakfast, excellent view, excellent room ! I will stay in this hotel again. The reception area, too small for a 4* stars hotel-may be is provisionally, due to refurbishment. But is functional, so there is no bad points !
Excellent location, very cozy. Nice terrace bar with additional wrap around balcony with beautiful city views. No fitness facilities.
Very well situated at the junction of Gran Via and C. Alcala, a short distance to f.ex. Puerto del Sol. The room was great, breakfast is superb (bit pricey). As others have mentioned, there is no reception area to speak of (small), but the bar at the top is nice and after all you are on a city holiday. Short walking distance (2-3 min) to the metrostation Banco de Espana, and you can take the metro to/from the airport there by changing two times (at the stations Mar De Cristal and Goya). Recommended for the price. Small elevators yes, as some people has mentioned but that didn't bother us even with 2 large suitcases.
Mainly the location, and the lady on reception was very helpful with giving tourist information and places to go. Asked for a couples room - I got 2 seperate beds - I also put on my booking that it was a romantic get away ....our view was basically a building site so i felt very let down. For that reason I wouldnt recommend the hotel to couples. - If the price had been lower inlcuding these reasons I would have felt more statisfied.
The room decoration - as said, the classical modern feeling of it -, the large windows on one of the main streets in Madrid (perfect sound insulation), the breakfast on the terrace with a view. The bathroom fittings and cosmetic kit (exquisite fragrance choice for the shower gel, shampoo and soap). Breakfast selection was good and fresh, excellent coffee. I found the two tiny and slow elevators extremely unpractical but I understood there was little room for improvement since the initial building's structure was such.
The location is truly Ada Palace's big selling point! While not exceptional, the room was comfortable and -- at night -- surprisingly quiet despite facing busy Gran Via. I found the reception staff to be courteous and helpful. All in all, an above-average option for travellers looking for a place in the centre of town. The lifts are indeed small, but -- lacking any mobility issues -- it wasn't a major issue for us. In addition, older reviews made note of the lifts, so we were able to take this into account before booking the room.
The reception area was tiny and there was no one to help carry our luggage up the flight of stairs. There's no bellhop. I booked 2 mos. in advance and was given a tiny corner room with a view to a construction site. The tv was on when we put our card in the electricity slot, and the screen said, "no signal". We couldn't turn it off by the remote or the power button. I went told the front desk at about 6:00pm. We arrived back to the hotel at 10pm, it was still on. I unplugged it. At 11:45pm, someone knocked on the door to fix the tv. I told them that I had unplugged it. This was too late to be making a service call. (creepy) My daughter found a large, black bug on her pillow, and when I looked under mine I did too! Ain't a Palace!
location, accessibility, lovely ensuite, 6ft bed, roof terrace, very pleasant staff tried to book a flamenco night, place we wanted was booked up, man at reception recommended another place a bout 5/10min walk from hotel, same was very disappointing flamenco show was good, food was awful, tables jammed together
location of the hotel
buffet breakfast was excellent if somewhat expensive the room fridge/minibar was warm not cold(thereby saving me a fortune). There was a dreadful smell of drains outside the breakfast room and throughout the central stairwell every morning.
Central location close to metro, clean, modern, big room and bathroom.
Location. Beautiful hotel. No bellboy service.
luxurious, comfortable room & bathroom. perfect location.totally worth! breakfast price was high -15eur
The room and the bathroom are beautiful. It was quite and a nive view from the room 1008. It was nice to have an opportunity to get 1hr spa. I would prefer to have a different shower (not enough pressure).
Excellent central location close to numerous metro stations. The hotel itself was very interestingly decorated and funky. Clean, tidy and cool.
The friendly and competent staff. My stay was excellent.
It was very comfortable and was very close to the stations
good price. great location. big rooms. clean but a little bit dated the hotel is rather old, but the worst thing is soundproofing - it's terrible. you can hear everything happening at the coridor and in the neighbour rooms as it's happening just next to you. you have no chance to sleep when your neighbours are just talking with each other in their rooms.
the location is very close to the metro station (plaza de espana) on gran villa street. the stuff are helpfull and do speak english the room is small, not very comfortable. the internet for 1 hour is 6 euro. rooms are not sound proof as they said, but any how it is location and it is price are good comparing it with other hotels at same location
Great rooms, very cozy hotel, and in a great location. Very limited internet, it actually didn't work for most of my stay. Check in was delayed, there were a lot of exhausted travelers waiting for their rooms.
Good breakfast, nice staff and clean rooms. The hotel has old inventory/furniture and could use an upgrade, but still nice.
Comfortable, a very good location, and staff very friendly. The walls were a little thin.
Actually nothing to mention, service poor, facilities extremely poor and lack of maintainance everything! i book a double or king size room = i receive a poor "mini" doble bed that i cannot fit (im just 1.78 cm). shower not working, all appearance of room old, holes in curtains, bed, everywhere, a very poor internet services, they charge for every single thing, sistem in room door not working spending more than 30 minuts to open the door, and the worst part the hotel is located besides a "cabaret" that makes the whole night a nightmare. thats just the
The room was beautiful and spacious and comfortable. Pleasant receptionist. Hotel is within easy reach of restaurants and shops, and is situated in a lovely area. The fact that room was done only after we asked in the afternoon
Clean room for fair price. Hotel situated in the very heart of city. Did not take breakfast as it was very expensive (15 Euro pp/pn), no great chose. Several breakfast opportunities in centre for only few euro's
Rooms very clean. Staff very helpful . Decor lovely. and excellent location. Written directions from the metro - i.e. which exit to take and which direction to go to hotel on arrival would be helpful on internet site.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful No restaurant
staff very friendly and cleanliness of the room I would of like one speaking english tv channel
Great location; large rooms and spacious bathrooms; safe available in the room. Perfect for a short city break. Good value for money and willl definitely return when next in Madrid.
Very comfortable and nice hotel situated in 1 min from Gran via. Easy walking distance to tourist sites, shops and restaurants including fast food. Rooms are clean, large and convenient. Great breakfast. The street seems strange but safety.
Very good position close to the centre Free internet in the lobby The street of the hotel wasn't very nice with in the evening some prostitutes in the aea
Shower was great, towels big and soft, nice toiletries, beds were comfortable enough Friend's rollaway bed broke the first night but was replaced the second night. Wifi is not very strong and need to keep entering a 16 digit code. Fairly noisy outside late into the night on the weekends.
Location is amazing. Almost major turisty places are within walking distance.
Hotellet ligger meget centralt, men uden trafikstøj. Værelserne er store og komfortable. Morgenbuffeten er rigtig god.
The location was excellent! Just off of Grand Via which connects to all routes with buses and Metro. The staff was very nice and even though language was an issue (we don't speak Spanish) they tried their best to assist us. Free internet throughout the hotel. Best breakfast that we had on our entire stay in Spain was provided free with room!
Nice for this money
I liked the mix of heritage on the outside and modern design inside with attention to both tourist & business needs The hot water in the shower was only warm, I like it a little hotter
it was in a good position prefer breakfast to be included. Strange lighting in corridors, very dark.
Good location! The price of booking.com was fair, actually the price mentioned at the reception is too high.So I advise to book this hotel only in case of special offers. We paid 380 Euro for 4 nights and the hotel price for 1 night is 330 Euro (unreasonable).
friendly staff, could speak english clean modern room 24hr reception no bar dining area small
comfortable and clean hotel with friendly staff. Easy access to city centre and shopping. Lots of eating places around. a little bit cramped
The hotel is central. I didn't like the decor and lighting - way too modern and cold looking.
it was only a few mintutes from the city shops and resturants. the hotel was very nice and quiet and the staff were very helpfull. the shower easily flooded the bathroom floor after use, so it had to be mopped up everytime.only a minor issue
Very nice and a good location. The heater was too high.
the wireless servise is very good ,the location is very good.
This was one of my favorite hotel stays in my life. I was traveling with my husband. We really enjoyed the ocean view (We also saw what the city view would be, and I'm sure it would be nice). The location was excellent, right on the water but also a very short walk into old town. The staff was the nicest and most helpful in Spain, especially the concierge, who gave great recommendations for everything we wanted to do. Location, staff, view, concierge.
Excellent hotel. Recently renovated. Conveniently located in centre of city. Great staff. Warm and friendly. Hop off and on bus tour close by. Nothing
Great location, clean rooms, strong AC, shower pressure was very good, and the room is quiet considering the noise outside the hotel. The wifi was spotty and slow.
The location was central and close to restaurants and bars. The buffet breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful with any queries we had.
good choice for a short break with adequate facilities in a convenient location
This is a beautiful, well-maintained property in a central, convenient location. All requests for the room were met, and the facility was quiet and had the amenities expected in a four star establishment. The staff was overall wonderful, and would have rated excellent but for one individual. The hotel phone system seemed unable to connect us to an international operator to make a collect call to our credit card issuer; the front desk staff, however, who were always cheerful and helpful, eventually connected us directly to the credit card company. A bigger problem was the attendant for the buffet breakfast on Friday (another young woman managed the breakfast on Wednesday, and she was quite helpful). On Friday, however, coffee was only served once and halfway through the meal, and our complaint about the cold and overly salty scrambled eggs was ignored. This was a disappointing lapse in a wonderful hotel, with an otherwise excellent staff.
Great location between Gran Via and Chueca. Close to Banca de España metro. Quiet. Wooden floors mean there is a lot of noise from other rooms and hallways. Walls also seem very thin. Can hear everything.
i like the location amazing close to everything almost i dont need to use a taxi.i would recommend . the only thing i didnt like is everyday i put the sign of no disturb and i leave my room and when i comeback they change it and they clean my room which is i didnt ask for cleaning so i explain to the reception and they inform the cleaning lady ....at next time they throu my personal shampo they found it and i could not do anythiung anyway its fine loool and it was my final day but i had to use there shampoo :( which i dont like to use hotel shampoo ever.
Great location to walk to all museums and tourist attractions and great shopping and eating. On a cool street just around the corner from Metro stop. Small room. Hard bed and not many pillows. Still a great value.
This was a phenonemal place to stay in Madrid. It is perfectly located off of the Gran Via and is in a quiet neighborhood. We were able to walk to the Prado and the other museums in the area. The staff was especially gracious and went out of their way to secure any service we needed. Absolutely nothing.
Clean , modern and businesslike. Hard to be recognized as a Hotel. Entrance trees-flowers need upgrading..... Eingangsbereicht ergr
Very good position, near the center and the underground Poor barh amenities
It was very relaxing staying in the hotel. Although you were in the city the rooms are soundproof and that was a great help. Everything is within walking distance from the hotel which was great. Also, I was with my parents and tea/coffee facilities in the room was great. I would prefer a more varied menu in the hotel for the evening. Maybe some more comfortable seating for at night would be good. Also the airconditioning needs to be a little more efficient rooms very warm at night. But overall excellent.
The fact that the hotel was central and everything was accessable
lovely breakfast. great choice. beds comfy which we could elevate to watch tv. great location
Hotel staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. Good location. Our room was too small. The lights were too confusing to work properly. They don't allow you to use the exercise equipment before 10:00am. Would have liked them to serve breakfast at least until 11:00.
location, hotel views the hotel look a little old, need a refresh
I had a very comfortable room with excellent facilities. The hotel was very convenient to shops, sights and restaurants. The reception area and bar need upgrading. They are rather basic and not what one would expect of a four star hotel.
The location is fantastic, but since I already know Madrid I knew this going it. It's about a block and a half from the Plaza Espana metro and it's very accessible to pretty much everything. I also liked that they had a free mini bar though there were just a couple of Pepsi's, bottles of waters, a couple of juice boxes, and an alcohol free beer. It was still a nice bonus. Another surprise was how big the bathroom was, nearly as big as the bedroom and there is a remote control for the bed that elivates it. The room was also really clean. I was disappointed actually, despite of all the things I said prior. It's listed as a 4 star hotel so I had high expectations and it didn't meet them. The room was an interior room so there was no view, fair enough though, I guess they can't all be. There was only shampoo/ body gel in the shower, I'd fully expected if not tiny bottles of each, then dispensers for all three. Also the decor was quite outdated looking, not old fashioned in a tasteful way, but outdated. Like it was still stuck in the 80's. One other point, I was really excited about the spa, but that was the most disappointing part. No seperate changing rooms, 1/2 the jets didn't work and the jacuzzi was tepid, also the sauna was broken.
very good location, near metro station and shopping. the bedroom was really a family room. at 9 floor there wasn't any noise of the street and trafic. the breakfast not included and too expensive
everything. super location
Location and the spa
Great location & overall atmosphere I didn't like the fact that guests have to pay extra to use the spa facilities. It's the first time I see that. Usually, all you have to pay is for massages, not to use pool & sauna. The hotel has Spa in its name which leads one to assume that the basic spa amenities are included.
Very accommodating staff, and wonderful location and rooftop bar! Waitstaff at rooftop bar weren't very friendly!
Comfortable bed, quiet room No help with bags, elevator not at ground level. Bathroom shabby.
Apart from the obvious location, the feeling and the decoration of the room and the size of the bathroom were both great. It is a hotel with high standards. The spa/fitness room was under refurbishment during our stay, so we couldn't use the facilities.
Beautiful hotel with nice amenities, a comfortable bed, stunning city views, and a great central location. Easy to walk to most major highlights and the metro station is only 1/2 a block away for anything not walkable. Would love to stay here again. Restaurant closed during middle of day. Rooftop lounge closed during my stay.
lovely style and comfort, great location. no breakfast
Location, Design, Bar Staff, Bathrooms, Room Size Check-In Staff Rude, THEY HAVE NO ON SITE PARKING (Site Lies) - expect to walk your bags at least 1/2 mile or more. Beds on floor.
The room was lovely and in a good central location. The restaurant/bar area were badly run. The staff were not well trained and the services were chaotic, especially at breakfast. We also tried to eat an evening meal there as well, and waited an hour for a course. Then the food arrived barely cooked. Other guests made formal complaints to management but it didn't improve. The rest of the hotel was very good.
The rooms were spacious and comfortable, especially when compared against other standard rooms typically found in European Hotels. Cool, more modern decor, in a romantically old but well-restored building. Lobby is small and off-putting as a first impression- makes you nervous the hotel won't be nice; when in reality the rooms and lounge are quite nice and fun!
I loved staying in De Las Letras. The staff was wonderful. Ana was very helpful with her restaurant recommendations and she doing reservations for us. She also recommended a nice outlet stores and they picked us at the hotel and brought us back at no cost. The stay was wonderful.
Located right at the centre. Helpful staff. Nice room and bathroom. The main street is very noise, evening time especially; a better soundproof windows would be a great help.
The desk personnel were very courteous, helpful and attentive. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The room we had was on Grand Via and it was exceedingly noisy all night.
The location was ideal. We took the option of DLs room which offered a jacuzzi and terrace however, the room was smaller than expected for the price. The use of poetry was personal and we liked the use of natural flooring to give a modern contemporary feel. The reception area didnt do justice to the hotel. The breakfast was overpriced for what was offered.
the hotel is in the middle of the city very handy for geting around the town , lots of places to eat and drink very close by the bathrooms are a bit odd with glass walls and doors .
The location is just off Gran Via Shower flooded as drainage was poor.
The Location was very good, central and within 50m of Gran Via Metro stop. Excellent. I Also appreciated the fact that the hotel, even though located on a very busy street, was quiet and easy to sleep in. A VAT "inclusive" figure would be more beneficial in quoting rates as I was a little suprised at having to pay another 7% for my room... Also a radio/Hi-Fi would have been a very simple but welcome addition to the room (that or a faster broadband internet connection/more modern equipment to allow access to Internet radio etc.)
I liked the fact that there was a PC installed in my room.
The staff was very friendly and most helpful. The location is great since it's very close to the Gran Via Metro station and conveniently located with respect to many of the wonderful tourist sights.
The location was excellent, the room looked as it does in the pictures and all the facilities worked, which is always a bonus! The staff were very nice too.
Free Wifi was nice. Staff were OK
Location was very central for shopping and the sights. Breakfast buffet was great. This was the worst sleep I have ever had in a hotel. The noise from outside was unacceptable. Woken by drunken people and sirens until 4am and also the internal lift. I would never stay here again
The location is really great Too noisy
I enjoyed the great location and wonderful accomodation.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. I had virtually no Spanish but they helped me out and switched to English almost immediately. The room itself was small, but all that I needed.
Nothing exept the location The small rooms, poor menu, lack of improvements & not for a 4 star it's 2-1 star
Very confortable high level hotel in a central position. The week end offer had a very favourable price to quality ratio. Confortable rooms. Room insonorization towards outside could be improved.
excellent location, walk distance to anything very friendly, English speaking personnel good a/c that can be regulated comfortable rooms - both street and back ones, no noise in the room and they serve wine in the afternoon! nothing
The locality is excellent for sightseeing Madrid. It is a neat hotel with friendly staff. Well worth its rate!
The location is excellent for all sight seeing! Relaxed, friendly atmosphere, good English spoken by staff, quiet although very central. Breakfast is also very good. Shower had no curtain, just a partial glass cover, so water spilling could be an issue.
Right on the Gran Via, a perfect location for enjoying the heart of Madrid on Foot
Location and all services Perfect in every way!
Great central location, close to underground. good breakfast.
The location was absolutely perfect, The evening meal was excellent. The staff were friendly, helpful and well presented including the chamber maids. The only thing I found annoying was the price of breakfast. Most hotels I have been have breakfast included, but at 14 euro's a breakfast even if you had cerial and coffee.
The room was very clean and comfortable. The reception staff was very helpful and nice.
The location is, by far, the best part of this hotel. it is right in the middle of everything! Despite this, not much noise could be heard from the street. 1. Internet is weak (connection on/off, very slow, etc.) which is very disappointing for a hotel that pretends to be high tech. 2. Soundproofing clearly needs some fine-tuning as all the noises of the corridor (people walking, talking, cleaning staff, etc.) were in my room!! (I asked to be re-located to another room but the personal did not take my request seriously). 3. A small bedroom with a big bathroom (unusual). 4. The room was dark, very little day light.
Convenience and room for Four. Noise at night was very loud.
Excellent location to the Grand Via, shops, market and other general tourist spots.
Location Needs repairs
The location was supper
I thought the hotel was very modern and very reasonably priced considering the location was so central. The only thing I would say is that although the reception staff greeted us very well, the other members of reception staff could be a bit dismissive and slightly rude.
Location central, walking distance to central plaza and queens home. The room was dirty the sheets were dirty not dusted or swept. The maid service never changed the sheets. The free WiFi is by ticket in 120 minute incriments. You have to keep going back for tickets. The room decor is from the stone age all dark brown. Rooms are small even a triple room is only for two. Lets not forget ladies of the evening working around the hotel at all hours.
Location was great, just what I wanted. Value for the money was good. It's a personal preference, I suppose, but I thought the bed was hard. A very small complaint in the scheme of things.
The location is perfect. We had a balcony to our room which was brilliant and the beds were really comfortable. N/A
Great location, nice decor with beautiful bathroom. Very small room, even by European standards. Prostitutes right outside on the public street.
The room was of a very good size, well decorated and maintained. The bathroom was of a very high quality. It has an excellent central location
Our room viewing the noisy Gran Via was very quiet so we could rest and sleep at every hour of the day or night. the room is big, clean and the bed is comfotable. wish there was a coffee making posibilty in the room.
The location on Gran Via is excellent. The bathroom was spacious and the double room was great. The single room was tiny. I felt like I was thrown in a broom closet it was so small.
Amazing beds and great location
Staff members, including the concierge, were very polite, helpful, and accommodated my needs to my satisfaction. The room on the fourth floor, facing the inside, was very quiet.
location, bathroom computer was broken in the lobby. Breakfast was good but was expensive.
Compfortable room with view over the ciety
Excellent location and friendly staff.
Good location. Only a block from Gran Via and two blocks from central shopping areas. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Carpets in room were in bad shape and seemed a little grubby. Bath was clean. Lots of street noise with windows open. Quiet when closed
Great location, close to 3 metro stops and very easy to get to from the airport. The breakfast is good, it will fill you up for the day. There was construction work going on at the hotel between 8:30 and 7 ish every day. It was impossible to relax or sleep. The walls are also really thin, we could hear everything from the other rooms.
The staff is very helpful and very friendly. The breakfast is quite healthly and fit. And the hotel is a few steps away from my favorite Restaurante Chino near the corner headed towards shooping street Gran Via.
Handy to city and easy airport transfer No
The location is really good. Its is very close to the main turist points (walking), underground and bus station. The room was very dirty. Its under construction, so its very noise. There is no internet connection, no ac and the breakfast was not so good.
Location is great
location very good, very easy to find from metro, wide choice for breakfast, all staff ver helpful and friendly. building work starting about 8:30 am
