Clean, nice staff. Great location. Strongly recommended!
The location, the staff, the room decorations, the room service, the quiet at night and particularily the breakfast. hi speed internet, Rather small elevators [to be expected in a building of that age], A/C a bit undersized.
It's clean easy access hotel No food available in the afternoon (not even a sandwich)after our arrival.
location excellent , staff good , quiet and relaxed atmosphere spa very poor and antiquated , swimming pool closed ,
We all loved our rooms and found the amenities to be terrific. Our beds were luxurious, with freshly pressed linen sheets. Who can ask for more, when coming from the desert in Morocco! Only one elevator in operation.
It has been my favorite hotel in Madrid for a long time, and it is still great.
The location was perfect, as well as the room and the whole setting of the hotel. It is a very nice hotel. Too bad that the Spa/Relax closes at 18.00 on Sutarday, and at 15.00 on Sunday! This is not 5 star service. Spa should be open until 21.00, at least.
Kabuki Wellington is worth a trip to the hotel on its own, though you obviously do not have to stay at the hotel in order to dine there. But being able to walk right upstairs after an amazing meal there is fantastic.
The hall and the dinning room. Fitness gym was great The carpets and the paper of the corridors looked very old
Very classy hotel, and nice location if you like running (Retiro) and shopping Staff at reception is rather old-fashioned, not extremely service oriented and misses soem basic standard actiosns in their check list (like let the customer check the bill before paying etc). rest of the staff was OK !
Luxurious charming hotel wonderful location
excellent staff nothing
The room was really nice with lots of room for the extra bed. Staff were polite and efficient The TV channels were very limited. Not a single children's channel available, and the movie channels were not working
First time visit to Madrid and our visit was enjoyable from check in to check out. The staff was helpful, the room was what we had reserved, and the breakfast was fantastic. We had an opportunity to use the pool and the spa and it was a wonderful way to take a break from sightseeing. The hotel was located near the park and metro.
Great bed and amazing pillows....very quite despite its central location. Quite expensive breakfast (buffet) for what is offered.
its close proximity to museums and sites. the high cost for internet usage.
Have stayed there before and was 'welcomed back'. It is ideally located, overall a very pleasant hotel. Excellent staff.
Close to museums Over priced! Everything is outrageously expensive. Staff is not interested in the guest. No room facilities for heating water for coffee or tea. Not enough towels.
Great location. Beautiful old hotel. Concierge excellent. Breakfast very expensive. Staff was not well informed of the hours of restaurant.
Staff was unfriendly
The location was perfect because our goal was to be able to visit the three major art museums within walking distance to our hotel. Parks, restaurants and shopping were also right there. The concierge was excellent in making flamenco arrangements for us. When I called ahead to check our reservation, the clerk answering the phone said that we would need to stay in one queen size bed and that to have twin beds would cost 500 euros per night. When we arrived, the registration clerk upgraded us to two twin beds at no extra cost.
The calm atmosphere and the beautiful interieur. Luxurious but still nice and comfortable. The price of two drinks was about the same as the price of one flight ticket back to Oslo . . . .. .
Location of hotel Comfort of bed was spolt by squeaking everytime you moved in the bed!
Fantastic, we generally dont spend that much money for a hotel but after a terrible experience the night before, it was worth it!
The room The location The general ambience We reserved a room with breakfast thru 'get a room' and surprised to see that it was not a buffet breakfast!!! for getting the buffet breakfast we needed to add some more money.... Not all the recommendations of the concierges were good, sometimes it seemed like they recommended places that they had personal interests/connections in.
Hotel staff were fabulous ,location excellent As long as you dont mind a bit of faded grandeur and pink wardrobes an excellent choice
Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!
The pleasure that a very comfortable and opulent hotel can give. The reception rooms are magnificent and staff and service were excellent, as you would expect.
Old world charm and location. Great lobby and dining rooms Room furnishings and hall carpets need refreshing
The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street. Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from. Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience: While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things. Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up? Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant. Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.
I loved the hotel, the look of the outside and the entry. The service is not what I have experienced at other Ritz hotels. The rooms were dated.
We liked this hotel very much, luxury. Staff was very polite, we arrived 13 p.m., check in should be 14 p.m., we were offered to wait 20 minutes and offered drinks free of charge. In room we also found compliments, it's very nice, when you arrive. Buffet breakfast costs 30 eur per person.
The location, comfort and style. We stayed at the hotel 7 days and the 4th day we had to ask to vacuum the room. Only one arm chair fitted into the small room we had. Cleaning inconsistent. Not much selection at breakfast even when it was very expensive.
The staff were very pleasant & very helpful. The location is very central to all the necessary activities. Very good value for the money. I have no hesitation to strongly recommend the hotel for my friends. Next time I'm in Madrid , I will be at Grand Melia Felix . Dr M. Mamdouh Aker , Urologist & Commissioner General for ICHR,Palestine honestly, neither my wife ,nor myself have anything to complain of
excellent service, excellent facilities and fantasic breakfast no complaints
Very attractive, well located. Helpful staff. Construction outside in street, debris around.
Excellent facilities. Excellent and efficent staff. Great breakfast buffet. Convenient to public transport, shopping, walking and all categories of dining. Modern with strong presence of traditional, quiet comfort. Reasonable prices for drinks and in hotel dining.
Everything from checking in to checking out. Will be booking again soon.
I liked the decor and the location of the hotel. Rooms were a little small for a luxury hotel in comparision to the United States standards of luxury. Food was way-overpriced for what you got.
Central location and good bedrooms. The bathrooms are far too crammed and small. We had to move rooms as first one was far too small and unclean. M&R in bathroom poor.
location concierge / assistance not on high standard as in another EU countries.
Location, location and location and offcourse the room comfort. busy reception
Great location, great hotel for the price.
the location was great It has Wi Fi feee just in the lobby, and you need a different code eny time yo connect.
Splendid service.Very comfortable rooms. Excellent location. The rooms are too dark. More light would be nice.
Excellent location, great room, very clean, large, quiet, comfortable bed, clean, excellent breakfast, with the exception of one lady at the front desk the receptionist staff was very friendly.. I found the lady at the front reception very rude the way she talked to you, she talked down to you, very dissappointing.
Location to downtown Room layout. Very cramped. Too many ammenities for room size
We loved the central location. the staff was helpful and attentive. WE loved the in room shampoo and conditioner. Is it possible to get it in the USA?
Outstanding location. Excellent value. Courteous service. Good laundry. Very good breakfast. Very nice bathroom, excellent shower, but the bathroom was very dark and position of the floor-mounted door stop was a hazard (several painful impacts with toes).
The location was excellent. Very clea room, bed was very comfortable, bathroom well-equipped and very modern. Front office staff courteous, polite, and helpful. Hallways to room had a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke.
Smart hotel in very good location, good deal if booked in advance
the exceptional good breakfast and nice bathrooms
b&o electronics, comfortable but separate beds, deep carpets, well appointed bathroom even though no tub, facility was very quiet, staff was helpful, friendly and spoke decent English room lighting tried too hard for ambience, resulting in the lack of a good, bright reading lamp
quite and relaxing
Very Clean & well designed. Bed was super comfortable. We liked the location. Located in quiet & beautiful area. Nice walking through the Park to Prado Museum.
The comfort and cleaniness of the room. The staff was excellant. The open plan style of the bedroom/bathroom needed to be adjsuted to.
Nothing Small pokey room with inefficient air conditioning. Indifferent staff. Very expensive mini bar ie 5EUR for a small bottle of water. Would definately not stay here again nor would I recommend it to anyone else. Stay regulary at 5* Hotels around the world and this has to be classed as medicore 4* at best.
Staff helpful but not intrusive. Room was modern and airy. Very large comfortable bed. Breakfast good quality
great size of room the toilet was across the room from the sink--makes it tough to wash hands. Also, no doors between room and shower area, makes it tough for those sharing a room who don't want to be so exposed, like grandmother and grandson!
We liked the baythroom set up and the comfort of the linens and beds
The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location just perfect - right in the city centre.
Location, bellboy service, Expensive, old rooms, poor service, low water pressure of the shower, not worth the money..
Excellent location. Beds very comfortable. Hotel still not fully open and noise of workmen woke us in the morning. Bathroom wash area actually in the room not standard 5 star - no desk area.
At 5:40 in the morning intruders entered our room as we slept. They entered with flashlights through a side door and only left when we began screaming. It was a terrible experience. The hotel's reception seemed very surprised but did nothing to reassure us that we were safe there.
I like the small size of the hotel, quietness, no noise from neighbours, good modern design, comfort, new furniture and bed linen. The size of rooms could be bigger. There was no bath in the room only the shower. The hotel staff is polite but not well trained (for example VAT shall not included in the hotel bill during check out if booking is made via www.booking.com site). More information in the hotel shall be provided about city attractions, restaurants etc.
The location is truly Ada Palace's big selling point! While not exceptional, the room was comfortable and -- at night -- surprisingly quiet despite facing busy Gran Via. I found the reception staff to be courteous and helpful. All in all, an above-average option for travellers looking for a place in the centre of town. The lifts are indeed small, but -- lacking any mobility issues -- it wasn't a major issue for us. In addition, older reviews made note of the lifts, so we were able to take this into account before booking the room.
Mainly the location, and the lady on reception was very helpful with giving tourist information and places to go. Asked for a couples room - I got 2 seperate beds - I also put on my booking that it was a romantic get away ....our view was basically a building site so i felt very let down. For that reason I wouldnt recommend the hotel to couples. - If the price had been lower inlcuding these reasons I would have felt more statisfied.
The room decoration - as said, the classical modern feeling of it -, the large windows on one of the main streets in Madrid (perfect sound insulation), the breakfast on the terrace with a view. The bathroom fittings and cosmetic kit (exquisite fragrance choice for the shower gel, shampoo and soap). Breakfast selection was good and fresh, excellent coffee. I found the two tiny and slow elevators extremely unpractical but I understood there was little room for improvement since the initial building's structure was such.
The location was great, the staff spoke english, the rooms were quite comfortable, and they had good toiletries Elevators were quite small, as was the lobby. Room lost power and had to change rooms. But they were very accommodating and it was easy to do.
Very well situated at the junction of Gran Via and C. Alcala, a short distance to f.ex. Puerto del Sol. The room was great, breakfast is superb (bit pricey). As others have mentioned, there is no reception area to speak of (small), but the bar at the top is nice and after all you are on a city holiday. Short walking distance (2-3 min) to the metrostation Banco de Espana, and you can take the metro to/from the airport there by changing two times (at the stations Mar De Cristal and Goya). Recommended for the price. Small elevators yes, as some people has mentioned but that didn't bother us even with 2 large suitcases.
Excellent placement, excellent breakfast, excellent view, excellent room ! I will stay in this hotel again. The reception area, too small for a 4* stars hotel-may be is provisionally, due to refurbishment. But is functional, so there is no bad points !
Location Small reception area
location, accessibility, lovely ensuite, 6ft bed, roof terrace, very pleasant staff tried to book a flamenco night, place we wanted was booked up, man at reception recommended another place a bout 5/10min walk from hotel, same was very disappointing flamenco show was good, food was awful, tables jammed together
Excellent location, very cozy. Nice terrace bar with additional wrap around balcony with beautiful city views. No fitness facilities.
The reception area was tiny and there was no one to help carry our luggage up the flight of stairs. There's no bellhop. I booked 2 mos. in advance and was given a tiny corner room with a view to a construction site. The tv was on when we put our card in the electricity slot, and the screen said, "no signal". We couldn't turn it off by the remote or the power button. I went told the front desk at about 6:00pm. We arrived back to the hotel at 10pm, it was still on. I unplugged it. At 11:45pm, someone knocked on the door to fix the tv. I told them that I had unplugged it. This was too late to be making a service call. (creepy) My daughter found a large, black bug on her pillow, and when I looked under mine I did too! Ain't a Palace!
The staff were very pleasent and helpful
easy access and clean with friendly staff, intersting interior and nice open area for guests A little noisey at night due to disco accross the road
nice interior room cleaning was late
the atmosphere and style of the hotel was excellent only thing i did not like was a bed in room. Pure design but not comfortable.
Different to the run of the mill hotels. Location was excellent.
Central location Overpriced for the facilities
excellent central place for shopping very poor number of TV chains
the family room is perfect to travel with family and child and the espectacular ubication no nothing
Ideal location to access galleries and shops. Good access to the metro means ease of travel through the city. Salamanca is a charming and quality neighborhood close to wide range of restaurants. In room computer a bonus too.
Central, clean and nicely decorated. Staff were very pleasant
The excellent location close to subway and the interior design Rooms to the street are rather noisy due to missing anti-noise features
Convenient location, helpful staff, nice room. Our first room had a blocked shower, which had wet the rug. So we moved. That room then had a broken towel hook. Seemed odd for such a new facility.
Location. the room is very small but well appointed. The room is quite small.
Great location in a nice high end neighborhood, full of boutiques and also very convenient to main tourist attractions, like El Prado, Cibeles, Paseo de la Castellana.
The location of the hotel, and the bathrooms in the rooms were very nice and very spacious There was very little storage space in the rooms and they were a bit small.
the locatiin is perfect. accesible to transportation. beautiful place. the matress is kinda hard and it's in a flatform type of bed. it shifts everytime we move and we have to keep adjusting and fixing the matress back to it's position. overall the place is nice.
well located, close to the Serrano metro station
Good location, at walking distance almost all things I wanted to visit. I loved the Salamanca area, good for shopping and eating no fitness center
Had problems with the WiFi; no leisure facilities
The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, very helpful. The hotel is quite upscale but not in a stuck-up way. Everything is top notch but the atmosphere still quite relaxed. The rooms are big, nice furniture, very comfortable bed. The hotel is very quiet, so you get really good sleep. Fantastic bathroom, all you can think of is there, robes and slippers and everything. The hotel is in a shopping area and a nice short walk from the Retiro Park and Prado museum. The centre is about a 30 minute walk away. Metro station half a block away if don't feel like walking. For me the staff was the thing that made this hotel so good. Absolutely no complaints, very nice place for a couple to spend a romantic weekend away!
The hotel was very elegant and sophisticated. It was located in one of the nicest sections of Madrid, Spain called Salamanca, and is very close to the most important museums and monuments.
Staff will do anything for you, room very clean, recommended.
Staff was extremely helpful. We arrived in the early morning and were given an early check-in to a great room.
The good breakfast. The obsolete bathroom: dusk and with an old shower.
The best thing in this hotel is the location. I thought its 4 stars hotel not 5.
the elegance, quietness and the staff made our stay delightful. The restaurant was exceptional
The location. No front lobby.
The hotel's location was very good. We also liked the rooms, and we could sometimes open the window for fresh air. no
The Young lady on the Reception (early evening) when we arrived on 14th September 2010 was very helpful and friendly, the young waitress who was in the dining room for the buffet breakfast was very attentive and is a credit to the Company, she remembered what we liked for our breakfast and was very helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good. The Hotel was fine, I wouldn't call it a luxury hotel, but for a short stay was adequate. Although the furniture is considered to be modern, I feel that it could do with a little attention. Otherwise we had a good stay and would return again should we find ourselves in Madrid. The only thing that I found was that the dark brown of the furniture in the bedroom made the room a little oppressive but otherwise it was fine, the room was a good size and two big windows.
The location in a quiet , lovely area of Madrid was great. Metro right outside door but could also easily walk to all sights in city centre. Hotel staff very friendly and let us check in early after long night flight.
Close to Colon Centro. Pretty quite neighbourhood. Very good prices in the Hotel Restaurant!!! 20euro for 3meal course with good food. Internet only in one shared facility and 2euro for 10minutes is very very expensive.
The location dark room, little small
Clean, quiet, very centrally located. Good value for money and a very good breakfast! I would definitely stay here again.
Localization Staff should be more gentle.
The staff were all polite and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was great. The air conditioning did not get very cold. It was quite dark in my room due to it looking out onto an innner courtyard. Decor ddn't help as lots of dark wood.I would have liked tea and coffe making facilities.
