Was closed when I got there
Cons: Maybe it's my fault, but I wish there was some notification that the Payless kiosk closed at 11:30PM so that when I got there at 11:40PM I didn't have to find a new solution to my car situation. There wasn't even a sign at the kiosk, just an empty desk - the people at Budget had to tell me it was closed. Is there anything you can do to help cover the more expensive rental I ended up having to get?

Cons: Waited 30 min for shuttle and it never showed. Called and was told it would be there momentarily. Finally a hertz. Shuttle offered to drop me off at Payless lot. Arrived at lot and the Payless shuttle was still sitting in the lot. Car had the previous renters leftover breakfast in the hatchback. No attention to detail. Weak customer service.

Cons: My flight got delayed and I arrived at the counter at 11:10 PM. However the counter was closed and there are no notice on where I can go to get the rental car. So, I went across to Avis for the rental that was double of what I booked with Payless.

Cons: No rental agent at counter, never showed up, no sign, nothing. Was told by Budget agent that was right next to Payless that they were transferring reservations to Budget and someone would show up, but never did. We waited 20 minutes, then rented from Alamo and even after renting from Alamo, there was still no one at Payless. They left four of us who were waiting just sitting there with no direction on what was happening. Will never rent from them in the future, super-poor customer service or should I say non-existent customer service.

Go Someplace Else
Pros: The price was cheap, but so was the service was cheap to. I guess you get what you pay for.
Cons: All the cars are filthy (there is no car wash onsite), the clerks have poor attitude. when you return the car there is no employees in the lot to check you in. You have to go into the office, wait in line and eventually the clerk will go outside and check your mileage. This was Houston, Tx during Super Bowl weekend and believe it they had NO additional staff on duty. From the time I got to the lot it took over 30 minutes before I could leave the lot to go to the airport.

Pros: Quick service and cheap price.
Cons: The car reeked of cigarettes. Considering their paperwork said they pride themselves in a smoke-free fleet, it was especially nasty.

Cons: I could rent the card because I Didn't have a Social Security. I'm a International Tourist doing transit from Miami, but still they couldn't Help me. Weird company policies, thank God, another company (Dollar) save my trip.

worst possible customer service!
Pros: The return at IAH went very well - the lady was very nice.
Cons: Horrible customer service. The Van driver was parked in the wrong spot at the airport. I walked over and had to knock on the window 3 times before he replied "get in". I asked if he could open the back door for my luggage and he said "no, just put on the other seat." The receptionist was almost as bad. She never took her ear phones out so she couldn't hear my replies to her questions. Finally, with complete attitude, she takes our her ear phones and says " have you ever rented a car before?" To which I reply "not from Payless, and not likely I ever will again". Awful experience!

Cons: the car wasn't clean and the vehicle needed an alignment and the service soon indicator light came on immediately. And while I could have complained right away, I needed to get on the road and they were running short on cars so who knows how long it would have taken to get another.

Pros: Nothing!!!!!! I have never been treated this way. I will explain with a call,
Cons: Your customer service agent was Extremely Rude and Un-professional and I would like for someone to call me at 407-509-9294, due to the fact that I was over charged and complained before ,about this and no one followed up to get back with me. I am not one to drop an issue, and I will follow up with this.

Overall good value
Pros: The car was reasonably priced and had a typical pickup experience.
Cons: Car was dirty inside and out. You could tell it had been run though a wash but was still dirty and windshield was dirty which caused visibility issues. Also, they didn't have anyone to check in the car outside when u pull up. Had to go all the way back inside just to drop off the key.

Payless Cheap but Good
Pros: 30% cheaper than all the others. Line was short but slow.
Cons: Line moves slowly. I would not be happy if 3 people were ahead of me.

Worst car rental experience of my life.
Pros: Nothing. They were sketchy and rude.
Cons: Everything. They attempted to double the price. Then they told me they didn't have a car available and I would have to go to the other Houston airport. And after I took a $30 Uber to the other airport, the Payless rental place was closed. The neighboring Avis wouldn't honor the Payless rental, but could rent me a car at 3 times the price. Payless is a complete scam. I would never use them again.

Cons: double taxation. Got to the counter and agent was in the restroom for about 30 minutes and the shuttle driver had to go and remind her again about a customer waiting at the counter. She finally comes out of the restroom and asked for my driver's license and credit card and I handed them over to her. I asked her how much is going to my card and she tells me it be additional taxes added. I told her that when I made this reservation online with KAYAK, and she Payless Agent tells me that it does not matter and that I still had to pay additional taxes at the counter. I then told her to cancel the seservation and I left.

Pros: I liked the price that I got this car for and the car was comfortable
Cons: The car smelled like smoke which was very annoying at first, the maintenance light came on while we had it and it was impossible to get a hold of an agent at the office where we got the car from, returning the car wasn't as easy as just dropping it off, I had to go in the airport to get my final bill which was not convenient and I accidentally left my glasses in the car and was not able to get them back and it was again almost impossible to get a hold of anyone. In summary, bad customer service.

Pros: The car rental was fine. The price was excellent. The original car developed an engine noise that required me to switch it with another auto in Austin; in this trouble, Payless was excellent and the switch was carried with minimal fuss.
Cons: Nothing in particular.

Cons: Had a reservation, Payless didn't have any cars. Didn't find out until I took shuttle all the way from Terminal to the Payless station. Huge waste of time and very frustrating. Terrible customer service.

Pros: The entire staff was so friendly and helpful. I give them all super high ratings . Car was clean
Cons: Not being advised in the beginning that I would have to provide my own transportation from the airport to the check in office. Had to pay 18.00 taxi fare to get there.

Pros: Not much. Employees were friendly, but it's Houston.
Cons: Car was mediocre. Had a shimmy. Check-in was out of the 1970s w/ paper forms. Didn't have a car ready in the type I had reserved. Price was cheap until they added up all the insurance - doubled the price. Agent went to look for a car. Took 15 minutes with no communication. Nobody present at drop-off. Still don't have a receipt. I will NEVER rent from Payless again. Terrible.

Cons: The sale man ask me if I wanted road service I said no and he told me to initial all the yellow spots. When I returned the car they to another location they charged me the road service anyway was real mad

Pros: Cleanliness of vehicle
Cons: Car originally reseved was unavailable replacement was not comparable especially for cost. When returning vehicle had to go inside to return contract takes more time especially when there's a plane to catch

Pros: Offered a day rate for long term (2 week) rental period. This was favorable because I could return the car early and pay for the actual days used.
Cons: ..... however, when I returned the car, I was charged a weekly fee plus higher daily and hourly fees for the one day of the next week. Also, cleverly buried in the contract was a $5 per day roadside assistance fee which I declined. Overall difference in advertised to actual price was $100 higher on a 9 day rental. Also, need to stand in line at the counter for drop off at IAH.

Cons: Payless was nowhere to be found in the Houston Hobby airport. Their 1800 number told us they would have a booth - they didn't. The airport staff told us they had a shuttle - it never came. We tried calling their local number multiple times and let it ring for minutes - they never answered. Complete lack of customer support. We were forced to rent a car from a different company at the airport for more than twice the Payless quoted price.

Cons: Ordered a full size and was given a Jeep Compass. Small, cramped, noisy small SVU that is possibly the Ford Pinto of today. We were exhausted after riding 2 hrs in that bucket when I was expecting an Impala or Taurus. Not happy
