Pros: Older gentleman in car pickup area was EXTREMELY friendly - Houston Bush Intercontinental - around 12:15 or so
Cons: Customer service representative asked me about getting the toll coverage for $13/day and said all toll roads accept cash. I did not pay for the toll service. First toll took cash but the Hardy Toll Road does not - just waiting to get clobbered on the service fee from Thrifty. Otherwise, excellent experience.

Overall good experience.
Pros: Drop off was a breeze. Car was good but a little long in the tooth with 32k miles. Can't complain too much because I got excellent gas mileage on the Passat they gave me. Also upgraded me for free.
Cons: Took a long time waiting in line to pickup but representative was good.

Cons: Paid 62.00 for toll activation. Probably spent 5.00 in tolls. Big rip off.

Cons: The drop off location was too far.

Cons: You shouldnt sell insurance on your website as I got to the thrifty counter and they told me that $45 usd I paid for insurance didnt work since it was an outside insurance and they dont work with those.

Is being early a sin?
Pros: Price was good.
Cons: I arrived earlier than I thought I would. Well, that was a problem: Thrifty does NOT allow early pick-up. Let me correct myself: Thrifty does not allow early pick up under the same terms of your reservation, that is, you CAN certainly pick up a car but under NEW terms, in this case, THREE TIMES more expensive than the original price. And that only for being there 90 minutes earlier than my reservation said I would. I had to wait for 75 minutes until my reservation was "up" in the system and they were able to check me in. Who wins in this situation? Nobody. Something is clear though, the customer loses. Not what I would describe as good customer service. Truly pathetic. Lesson: just give the car to the customer early (there were tens of cars in the lot waiting), then charge him MORE if the customer exceeds the contractual time (one day, two days, whatever). THAT would be logic. Another logic: charge the customer a REASONABLE fee for the early pick up. What is reasonable for 90 minutes? Well... do a percentage of your daily rate. Another logic: sir, we can´t give you a car because we don´t have one at this time. Your contract says in 90 minutes, and the car will be there at that time. Gotcha! I understand that. And the beauty of the whole thing is that, had I simply put an earlier pick up time, my contract would have been for the EXACT same amount of days, that is, it would have been the SAME EXACT price. Lesson learned: when you rent for part of a day, don´t bother... just put the extremes of time... make THEM lose money, but you won´t!

We were tricked...
Cons: We made a reservation online which was supposed to amount to U$300. When we arrived to Houston, the girl at the counter first proposed us a rental for $750! When we protested and showed her the reservation she made "as many adjustments as she could" until she brought it down to U$522. Still almost double of the original reservation price. We took it to sadly realize the GPS didn't work. We had to call the support number the first day and go through a process to reset the appareil. The second day we called, we had to file a telephonic complaint with a reference number and everything and, since we couldn't find our way around Houston she recommended to change the car (which had the GPS attached, it wasn't portable). So we had to loose yet another day from our vacations to go back to the airport to change the car. When we arrived, the manager said that since there was no mechanical failure (as if not having a GPS in Houston wasn't enough of a nuisance), he could only give us a U$50 discount. We protested and so he gave us a U$100 discount. Then he asked us if we had willingly accepted all of the additional charges. We responded that the girl had originally told us that the prize was the "minimum possible", so he informed us that all additional charges were optional!!! Then he made a just adjustment ant brought the price down to the original $300!!! SO YOU TRICKED US ALL THE TIME. We paid the original prize but could only use the car for three of the original six days planned because of the GPS problem. And we still had to pay for six days. It's the worst client service EVER!!! It shouldn't be called Thrifty, IT SHOULD BE CALLED TRICKSY!!! Will never rent with you again, will try to tell everyone and THANK YOU FOR RUINING OUR VACATION! Please don't send any compensation, promotions or offers. We don't ever want to hear from you again, we already lost too much time with you, worth like three lifetimes... Please just go broke... Worst regards,

Not enough informatio
Pros: --- Quoted price when I reserved the car was about $350 for the week --- Asked if we wanted to add a driver to the car. Thought it was a good idea. We were charged an extra $13 per day for other driver. Were not told at counter. --- Told we needed to obtain a EZ Toll pass as most toll ways don't take cash. Not true. Were told the EZ pass was $13. He didn't say it was $13 per day. --- When all was said and done the $350 car ended up costing $580. --- Counter help spoke very poor English resulting in major problems --- Sorry, Thrifty has forever lost my business --- Might have to move onto another search site as well. This gives Kayak a black eye by association,

Pros: Car was clean and in good condition.
Cons: Pick up and return were lame. Employees don't care about client and have no clue about service.

Cons: Reveal long lines. Walked away to Hertz

Paid for premium car got less
Cons: I paid for a premium car and got a Ford Fusion, that is not a premium car, and the car was dirty. If they didn't have any premium cars available then they should have just said something.

Pros: Easy pick up and drop off at the airport. Nice and helpful people at the counter. Comfortable car. Will definitely look for Thrifty in the future.
Cons: The car had just been washed but not dried so the windows and mirrors were very spotted.

Cons: The person that helped me at pick up was not friendly and did not take time to explain anything about the rental. I tried to drop off before they were open and realized I couldn't at that location. Then they were more than 15 minutes late opening.

BEWARE OF TOLLS CHARGES THAT THRIFTY WILL EXPLOIT
Cons: Just when you thought you had the exorbitant fuel charges figured out, Thrifty has come up with a new way to extract your money due to toll charges in the state of Texas. If you are new to Texas, like I was, you're unaware of the tolls. While at the counter before taking the car out on the highway, there representative provided no information, whatsoever, regarding these tolls. After having the car for the weekend, I apparently had$11.25 worth of tolls while driving around Houston. Thrifty charged $116.25 for the $11.25 worth of tolls. Yes, this is more than 1000% markup of the charges. After you call and complain, they will reduce it to $37, which is only 400% markup of the charges. Until Thrifty changes their business practice, I am going to avoid them.

Cons: My rental agreement went from $188 to over $700 when the minimum insurances were added.

Woman at the desk rude and thrifty charged me $140
Cons: I signed a contract for $47 and when I turned the car in I received a bill for $183. The bill reflected a completely different rate that I signed for, incorrect mileage and other charges I simply didn't understand.

Cons: The service was just out of this world bad. I never write these reviews and I'm not a complainer. The service from my rental agent was rude, disrespectful and she acted like I taking away from her day by making her do her job ... ! I mean damn and she was doing this all in front of her "manager"

Pros: Good car, clean. No surprise here
Cons: The person at the pickup was terrible. Not helpful. We even had to call our son on the phone (we don't speak perfect english as we are French tourists) and the attendant would be extremely rude to him. At the end he charged us much more than expected and even refused to cancel options when we asked him. After a 11 hours flight and jet lag we were too tired to argue with him. Hope you will contact us and make things right.

Cons: Drop off at Dallas Love Field was bad. Took over half an hour to find the temporary Thrifty drop off location. At the shuttle everybody was complaining.

Not as promised
Pros: Good customer service in rectifying the situation
Cons: When I picked up the car, they told me that they could not honor my reservation and made me pay for an upgrade. That car was disgusting and I went back to a smaller car but then got a hard time getting a refund. Eventually the manager was helpful. I would not recommend this company

Long wait times
Cons: There was a very long wait to rent the car. I wont be renting again from Thrifty for a long time.
