Supplier choice

The hertz in Santa Fe where I returned the car was great. Brooklyn was a disaster. Waited 3 1/2 hours on the sidewalk in the broiling sun and another hour in the office before driving away.

Easy, fast, no hassle. I’ve used other vendors like Dollar rental and Avis and both times it was a nightmare. I plan on using Hertz until they give me a reason not to.

The place was super packed when we arrived. We eventually got the car 1.5 hours after the time it was booked for. The staff was swamped and not very helpful.

Minivan

They rented my car to someone else and had to scramble to find a suitable replacement. They eventually rented me a much nicer car at the same price and threw in gas. It was a suitable solution but we got on the road much later than we had planned.

Pros:

Location was easy to get to in Brooklyn and the weekly rates were very affordable.

Cons:

The type of car I reserved was unavailable and I had to wait for a different (and larger car) to be ready. It would be nice if they had more inventory of smaller vehicles.

Pros:

The staff was fast, efficient and very friendly. The entire pickup took 5 minutes and drop off took 3 minutes. They were great.

Cons:

It would have been nice if there was an after hours drop off possibility since the site closes at 5pm but I understand that’s difficult at this time. In the end we made it back 5 minutes before 5pm, thankfully.
