Personal Customer Service
Pros: Kim was upbeat and kept the full room flowing both days. If she was overwhelmed, you would know it.

Pros: This place is much cheaper than the airport car rentals and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: It would be nice to have a shuttle to the airport, but perhaps the reason they are cheaper is because they don't offer that service.

Pros: Price was outstanding. Lot was difficult to find, but was near airport. Shared space with Budget. Signage and lot were crowded and a bit confusing.

Cons: The first car I was given was impossibly touchy on the brakes, so they changed it for another that was quite a bit older. It worked just fine, though.

Pros: Mitsubishi Lancer is a great car for one on the road. In town dropoff is less hassle and much cheaper than airport. One way rental was cheaper than I expected.

Pickup site closed
Pros: Car and rate
Cons: The place where we were supposed to pick up our car closed 30 mins early. This forced us to go to another location - 20 mins away - to pick up the car and also pay AN ADDITIONAL $5 since it was from an airport. It was either pay the $5 or forfeit the rental. The customer service rep even asked if I was sure if the place was closed. Yes, pitch black office with a locked gate.

Customer service was very good

Cons: they cancelled the reservation once I got there. Horrible service and they were very impolite about it all.

Pros: The Avis rep at the pickup site went above and beyond! Stayed past closing for me as I was stuck in traffic due to an accident.
Cons: The interior windows were horribly streaked! Had to stop twice to clean them!

Cons: Was not able to use my AVIS preferred number in order to speed through the rental process. Please make it clear at the outset that there is cost to the discounted prices in terms of poorer service quality such as inability to associate the AVIS preferred identifier with your reservation.

Pros: Pickup and drop off was fast
Cons: My car clearly had a smoker using it previously and felt like it was cancer ridden. I also found a bunch of pretzels underneath the drivers seat. It was disgusting.

Brand New Nissan Rogue
Pros: The car was brand new and super clean. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the car. It was comfortable and had reasonable acceleration.
Cons: Upon exiting the airport garage, the attendant was very rude. The manager on duty happened to come by. He was very friendly and receptive. He apologized and explained that he's regretting the decision to hire contractors for this position. He said he appreciated my input and would use it as an example at his next meeting with the bosses. He may be lying through his teeth, but he was very nice and easy to work with.

Won't use Avis again due to customer service
Pros: Car was fine
Cons: Did not like that I was not told about the additional $200 reserve charge on my debit card. Also DID NOT agree to additional insurance. I never have and noticed that I was charged $7 a day and called and was told the only way I could get it taken off was to come into the terminal and speak to a representative. Well I was 2 hours south all week attending my fathers funeral and that was not a option! The person on the phone was not helpful at all. I have good insurance and would have never agreed to more !

Kayak is garbage. Adam the manager is great.
Pros: Adam the manager at PDX airport saved us after Kayak facilitated a rental at the "airport location" that was actually not at the airport and was also closed at the hour when the car was reserved.
Cons: Kayak tried to ruin our vacation.

What a way to travel
Pros: It was clean and smelled nice when we picked it up. It was comfortable and had many hi-tech features like a USB port and Bluetooth It was fuel efficient, we got 18.5 MPG Lots of storage space in the back for our luggage. (We had 5 passengers)
Cons: By the end of the 7 day trip I was wishing that I could electronically adjust my seat, but I think that was more about being in the van for 7 days and less about the van.:)

Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. Car was nice and clean.
Cons: We chose an off-airport location because our flight arrived after midnight and to save money, but it may have been a wash when considering taxis to office from our hotel and from office back to airport.

Not what I was hoping.
Pros: Rental location was convenient. The car worked as expected.
Cons: I had specifically requested/rented a compact car, and was given a large sedan. I was told it was all they had when I arrived at my scheduled time, which I don't understand because I had made the reservation in advance. I wanted a small car for specific reasons. The car I was given had clearly not been cleaned from the previous renter, the seats and detailing were dirty and the windshield and back window were smeared quite heavily. The smell in the car was also not pleasant. When I returned the car, their "systems were down", so I was asked to write my email address on a piece of paper, make a few quick notes on the check-out paperwork and leave the key on the counter, without anyone looking over the car while I was there. There only seemed to be one person working and he was too busy to really help me. I never received any kind of email confirmation of the return. I just had to walk away hoping I wouldn't get docked for something. I'll probably avoid Avis next time.
