You get a reservation, but never a car unless you want to pay more
Pros: Never got a car
Cons: They keep saying they are all out of cars for several days, and that they'll call you back later. If they actually call you back, they say the only thing they have left is a mini-van for 3 times your reservation quote. What a scam.

Rules dominate, customers come in DISTANT last
Pros: Loved David & Miles that worked at the front desk helping me get checked in and my car ready. Although the overall experience was terrible with Hertz, these guys made my day by helping me find a solution to a problem.
Cons: They got rid of my reservation because I was 45 minutes late. Never understood that you actually needed to make the reservation at the EXACT time your are expecting to be there. Always figured it was courteous to give them a heads up I was coming so my car would be ready.

Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: What started out as a nice get away vacation, was nearly ruined by Hertz and their callous employees. I reserved a car online and was given the option of pay now or pay at pickup, I opted for pickup, huge mistake. After traveling over 2000 miles to Portland, OR, Hertz refused to rent my wife and I a car because we only have a debit card instead of a credit card. The employee, Flip, nice name for a car guy, quickly washed his hands of us saying there was nothing more he could do except call us a cab, to which I replied, "and take us where "? As I'm now fuming and trying to think of a solution, short of having to buy a car or going back to the airport and going home, another employee came in to help. He asked if we belonged to AAA or USAA, but of course we don't. He finally asked if we had a Costco membership, of which we did and we were finally able to secure the car. Thanks Hertz for nothing. We will never rent a car from you ever again.

Hertz was fine for the most part
Pros: The vehicle was clean
Cons: I was scheduled to pickup when the location closed so I couldn't pick the car up. A whole new rental had to be established after Hertz cancelled my original rental because I didn't pick it up. Then we find out an economy car with Hertz means the smallest car you can imagine, unlike with Enterprise or Dollar whose economy cars at least for a 6ft man, bags, and snowboards.
