Didn't honor terms once train was late
Cons: I called Budget from Amtrak on the afternoon before pickup to say that the train was going to be late. I was told that, if arriving after 6:30pm (which we did), to go to the airport Budget instead of the original place. They would have the car we ordered (the guy checked). So we did exactly that. Oops. Did not have the car we ordered. And wanted 2x as much for the cars there. We said 'Adios' and took a Lyft to Enterprise where we found a great car of the type we wanted for $50 less than the original Budget quote. Next time? We'll go straight to Enterprise.

POOR timing & secondary location
Pros: Primary location agents saved me a lot of unnecessary trouble & expense.
Cons: Rental location was ID'd by address but no mention of location not being served by by airport shuttle since it was not their primary location. More importantly, the ID'd rental location apparently closes on Saturday at 2:00 but hours were not given in my advance rental info. I only found out about the need for a taxi to the secondary Budget location & their closing time when I arrived at the primary Budget location which is open 24/7.

Cons: Car was junky and kicked and heaved a lot, felt like it needed servicing

Budget should be more flexible when they know they
Cons: I thought I was renting at an airport location. I arrived and was told that I made my reservation at a downtown location and would cost at least twice as much to rent from the airport location. I took a cab downtown with my luggage, carseat, wife and child. Once there they let me know I would be unable to pick it up until my reserved time of noon (although I am fairly certain I made my reservation time at 10:30am, but had no proof of that). There were three staff people and a little wait at 10:30am. I returned at 11:45 and two gentleman were in a similar situation as me, hoping to get their car ASAP but would have to wait until noon. Since it was a hot tiny room I went for a walk instead of waiting and when I returned at 5 to noon the room was full and there was no order among those who have waited. Also, once the clock struck noon the computers all reset. It was after 1 pm before my car was rented. I could see a printout on the desk of the planned reservations. They knew the would get slammed at noon, why didn't they have more staff or just allow people who got there a little bit early to get their car sooner? The staff was helpful and patient considering what they were up against but the company was pretty terrible to allow this to occur. I thought Budget was a national company but I have rented from some hole in the wall type places that were more organized than this.
