Pros: The price was fine.
Cons: Pick-up took over 1 hour! The bathroom at the rental place was dirty and had no toilet paper. The car had no cruise control and the engine seemed to have some issues when idling. Way finding at pickup and drop off was confusing - where to park, how to get in and out of the rental car area.

Pros: Robert was a great agent and was doing his best.
Cons: Took 45mins to get the car and they only had 2 agents working. I was lucky as by the time I left, the line was out the door. They didn't have the type of car I had requested so I had to take the next nearest option. Ended up with a car that had been smoked in but we needed to get going as I didn't have time to go back in and deal with the angry mob. Slow service, car smelled bad, bad experience.

smoky and wet
Pros: not much - hated the car type, a gas hog and no updated!
Cons: I did not like how smoky and scented the car smelled inside, and I hated how the car was so outdated and there was no way to charge a phone even, no usb, no way to connect music. Also it was pouring rain when we picked it up, and the counter person was kinda short, tried to talk me into upgrading to an SUV because of rain (really! I drive a prius normally where I live) and then was like ok the car is twenty aisles over go find it in the pouring rain!

Pros: Everything went smoothly! I appreciate the speed and efficiency of the process, I made the reservation 2 hours in advance. Amazing staff at Budget!

Pros: The car, a Hyundai Sonata, had good pickup.
Cons: When I arrived at the Budget facility in Detroit there were 30 people in line ahead of me with 3 agents working. I waited in line for a solid hour and NO apologies were made - not to the group as a whole and not to me individually. When I got in the car it smelled like smoke and the upholstery had many many stains. I won't use Budget again.

Cons: Car was filthy with stains on leather, garbage still in the car and the gas wasn't full all the way and they expected a full tank. Seemed like they gave me a car that a previous custumer had just returned.

Pickup took a LONG time, even though there were no
Pros: Car was fine, new, ran great. Drop off was quick and easy. Shuttle service to airport was convenient.
Cons: Pickup took a LONG time ... there was no car ready, so apparently they had to vacuum / wash one that had been returned earlier. When I got the car, it was certainly clean. It was also covered in ice from the washing (this was in late winter). The outside mirrors and the rear window were iced over, the windows would not open, the doors were a little sticky. I scraped off the ice in the Budget parking lot (there was an ice scraper in the back of the car) The combination of SLOW pickup and having to scrape off the ice after pickup was time consuming, and added up to a mediocre experience overall. This could have been prevented if they processed their returns a bit earlier.

Problems with locating unmarked gas tank cover lev
Cons: I almost brought the car back without filling the tank because I could not locate the gas tank cover lever in the car. It was NOT marked- just a tiny lever on the floor. When I mentioned this to the attendant wto whom I returned the car, he initially ignored me- when I persisted in pointing out that it was unmarked and therefore difficult to locate, he admitted that this was a common problem for renters, who ended up NOT being able to return the car filled with gas, and thereby were being charged quite a large, additional expense. He seemed to not care. Perhaps this is Budget's way of making more income?? Karen Urbani, MD

Cons: The pick-up staff in Detroit were not very helpful and the car was not great.

Cons: I went on line to extend my rental and received confirmation of extension at the same rate plus $11 day from Payless which is aligned with Budget at the Detroit airport. When I returned the car I was presented with a receipt of $1099.22 (instead of around $300.). I did not see this until my credit card had already been processed. The clerk at the window was totally inept and said I would have to talk to the manager, who conveniently was not available till the following day. I still cannot contact the manager 24 hours later. Avoid these gonifs at all costs.

Efficient once at booth but had to wait 45' for ai
Pros: Efficient service, nice late model car (Mazda 6 with 1600 miles on the meter) fast in and out, predictable charges.
Cons: Had to wait over 30' for the airport shuttle in 34 degree temperatures while other companies' shuttles kept passing through 3-4 times each. I called the office but I couldn't reach a live person. Finally I called their road assistance line and asked to be connected with someone at the office to get a shuttle sent to where several of us were waiting by that point. After another 10' on hold, the shuttle showed up. The driver, apologized profusely and said that "... to be honest [they] have several drivers who like to loaf on the job." I frankly never had such an experience by a large company in a major airport. And finally, the "in terminal" characterization is not entirely accurate as one has to drive 5' to the car rental place (45' wait for the shuttle notwithstanding).

Car equipment was inadequate
Pros: Speed of pickup and a final price that matched my expectation
Cons: Windshield wipers were inadequate and dangerous for snowy conditions. Also no ice scraper provided in car to deal with normal Detroit winter weather.

Cons: Manager was disrespectful and rude. Car had jerky transmission. Never get budget cars in Detroit, you never know what you will get.

Excellent rental car, pick up/drop off process slo
Pros: Loved the car, was upgraded to a SUV which was nice for the type of vacation we were on. The car was a nice quality and enjoyed my experience.
Cons: The pick up process took forever! We arrived at the off site location to pick up our car at about 12:00am and there was a huge line. We ended up waiting there for at least 30 minutes, if not longer. I found the drop off to be rather annoying, you have to go into the office to submit your paperwork and then they ask you questions like, how far do you think you drove? I don't know, that's why you should check people in at their car so you can read the odometer. Ultimately the pick up/drop off was a rather old process and should be upgraded.

Cons: They charge twice as much for car insurance at the counter versus prepaying for it ahead of time on Kayak.

Cons: Absolutely terrible! Do not rent a vehicle from this location - I may never use budget again. Understaffed! Waited for an hour to get through the line then had to wait to get the car - attendant wouldn't switch to a car that was available. Very loose definition of an SUV - need to add category for compact SUV. Description said Ford Escape or similar; got a Jeep Renegade; nearly had to tie a bag to the roof to get to the hotel. Drop off was terrible - no carts or assistance in moving bags from car rental return to shuttle bus. Shuttle bus driver actually walked away when she saw us struggling to get two toddlers and accompanying baggage to the shuttle - no assistance loading or unloading - not tip either

Cons: It took me an hour to pick up the car. They were not staffed to handle the volume of people (even though everyone clearly had reservations). I requested a small SUV so my aged father could easily get in/out of the vehicle and also a GPS. They talked me into an upgrade for an additional $16 per day so that the GPS was part of the car. This resulted in me getting a car (not a small SUV), that actually did not have a GPS installed. After taking an hour to get a car I did not want, I choose not to go back in and complain, but explained that I did need a GPS. They gave me a GPS at the exit booth, but without a workable stand. They ended up charging me for the car upgrade plus the GPS, so I paid more and did not get what I requested.

Pros: Car war good value when booked on line for weekend but limits customer service when booked through 3rd party.
Cons: The check in line at the Budget desk in Detroit was at least 25 people deep. I called the customer service number to see if the could add my Fast Break number to my contract and they would not do it unless I was willing to accept a new rate that was double! No customer service.

Bit of a zoo
Pros: Car was fine, nothing spectacular. Price was fantastic. Drop off was easy.
Cons: Long lines at arrival (almost an hour wait). Bathrooms at rental place were dirty. No soap in the women's room when we picked up on Friday and still no soap when we dropped off on Sunday... Gross. But car itself was fine with no issues.

Pros: The Patriot was good for the money.
Cons: THE LINE TO PICK UP THE CAR WAS ATROCIOUS. I waited for over 40 minutes in line just to spend two minutes renting a car. I will never rent from Budget again. How on earth is there not an electronic check out yet? This is 2016. I should not have to wait 40 minutes in line for ANYTHING, much less a shitty rental SUV.

Long wait for pickup
Cons: There was over an hour wait to pick up the rental. College football game weekend and they we're slammed. Walked over to Payless who had no line and they said Budget is always that way. Can not reccomend the Detroit airport budget car rental. Understaffed!!!!

Pros: The car was new and fully equipped for a compact. it was very clean and comfortable for the long ride.
Cons: The shuttle pick up was not timely. There were several taxes and fees that I paid on the vehicle from its base price.

Pros: I'll start by saying my car was great! Late model, features such as Sirius, Bluetooth connectivity, nice large displays, power everything and a good price via Kayak. But if you're asking about the overall rental user experience, unfortunately Budget was poor to below average.
Cons: I arrived uneventfully via a red-eye at 5:50a and after drop-off by the courtesy shuttle and there were only three or four folks ahead of me. Quickly, the line tripled. No greeting or word on what the delay was; two folks exited the line, another was audibly/visibly upset and fifty minutes later I arrived at the front desk. Only then, did I find out what the issue was -- THE COMPUTERS WERE DOWN. Probably the lowlight of the visit was (while still in line) was a woman breaking in over the loudspeaker yelling "Tell your customers to have their paperwork and ID ready BEFORE they come to the front gate!!!!" Incredibly rude and unprofessional. Upon arrival the attendant gave me more bad news, my vehicle was not ready and had to be found and prepped. 15 minutes later as I waited outside (not really sure where to wait), a third car pulls up and a guy gets out. As he walks away, I ask which car is mine (as another guy was also waiting for an SUV). He said yes, and after growing gray during a LONG wait, I was free to start my trip. This experience should have been handled with a little more professionalism which could have helped, but there didn't seem to be a process in place. And for this reason, I wouldn't go Budget again. Ugh.

Pros: The car
Cons: We were unable to contact anyone at Budget. We forgot our dog carriers in the car, called several numbers including the mangers emergency number. We neither reached someone nor did we get a return call. IF the car had been cleaned the carries would have been found before the car was sent out. So that would be two failures. One no way to contact the Detroit office and two not cleaning the car.
