Won't rent from them again!!!

Cons: They had only two reps working and over 50 people waiting in line. It took two hours to get my rental car after getting their and Payless is closed after 10pm so they have it handled by Fox. The reps were rude and there were no cars available. The amount I was charge was not the same as the amount shown on my rental through Kayak and their argument was that it was the taxes. They finally got a manager and although he was able to fix the overcharge but the car they gave me was horrible and not what I had requested. Incredibly disappointed!!!

Car was great, but DO NOT BOOK THE INSURANCE THROU

Pros: Car was fine (although we had to wait 20 minutes for it to be ready at pickup).

Cons: The insurance that was pushed through the Kayak site was a scam. Turns out this is insurance (from Allianz) is completely separate from the insurance that the rental company (Payless) accepts.

Waited hours and gave up

Cons: We arrived in Ontario right on time, but when we made it to the rental car desk we were told to wait. And hour later (with a crying baby) we were told to expect anywhere from an hour to two hours later, or even more. Thankfully, I had made a second reservation at Alamo. They got us into a car. While all of the rental agencies were backed up, Payless was the longest wait with the least amount of information.

Took over an hour to get thru pick up and exit

Cons: Didn't have the car we rented. They had us wait. Tried to give us a pick up truck?! Gave us another car, but it took quite awhile to find the lost key. Too over a half hour to exit the lot due to a very slow security officer. Upon return they had us (and other renters) go BACK INSIDE to the rental counter to wait in line again and never did get a receipt. Absolutely awful experience. Car was fine.

Car I reserved not ready

Pros: Cheap price, nice agent

Cons: The vehicle I reserved wasn't available. The agent even offered a pick up truck instead and I declined. Eventually after a twenty minute wait I got a smaller car. Even though I got a smaller car no one offered to reduce the price.

Payless is Worthless

Pros: Nothing

Cons: They listed as in terminal. They are not in terminal. I went to information and they said that Payless is with all other rental cars which is a shuttle ride. Ok. No big deal. So I shuttle over and after 15 minutes at the counter I am told I will have to wait at least a half an hour to get a car. They don't currently have one. I walked over to Alamo and rented and was on the go in 5 minutes. It cost me $20 more than my Payless reservation but they did actually have a car to rent me.

Cons: They quoted me a return price and then changed it at drop off by nearly $400. I am working to correct this and have filed a false charge notice with my credit card company . . .

Pros: Customer service was good

Cons: The car smelled like a casino and had a lot of stains. Also when I booked I paid for insurance through alliance. Then when I checked in I was told that they weren't sure what insurance I had and may not be covered.

Budget friendly rental

Pros: My car was clean, ran well, and I got a free upgrade because they ran out of cars

Cons: Horrible phone system, could never actually speak to a person when I needed to. I called several times only to get lost in a maze of a phone system. No one was there when I returned the car so I wasn't able to get a final bill. Evidently they do not have 24 HR customer service. When my final bill came in I was overbilled $200 and I'm now fighting this. Not sure I would use them again.

Terribly long wait and bad service

Pros: The daily car rate was good

Cons: I had to wait 1 hr to get checked in with only 2 people ahead of me. The car I was given did not exist and than it took another 30 min to change car and paperwork and leave car rental facility.

Try to pull a fast one

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The countrer Agent Brian at Ontario Airport overcharged me $130 on a total rental of $45. I found that he charged me for a full tank of gas for $9 per gallon. I filled the car before getting there. Really corrupt and dishonest person. He had the audacity to say that the system automatically charged it. This was my first and last transaction with this crappy company. Your employees are a face to your business. Brian at Ontario airport is putting a corrupt face to your business.

Fine if you just need a car

Cons: you get what you pay for. The car was cheap but it was worn out. The interior was coming apart, the car had numerous rattles, whistles and whines and there wasn't even washer fluid.

Cons: I had made a reservation online for 3 days at a great rate. But I arrived a day early and wanted one more day added to my rental arrangement. At the checkin in desk, they were going to double the entire rental bill for just one additional day. So I cancelled at the desk, and found another rental agency. Not very willing to work with me! Payless wanted me to Paymore!
