KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Newport Beach

  • Renting a car during your stay in Newport Beach in California can be incredibly beneficial, especially if you want to explore the diverse places within and outside the city. With car Rentals in Newport Beach, you can get a car that will enable you to explore the coastal areas close to the town. You can quickly move from Balboa to Santa Ana in less time.
  • Newport Beach car rentals also include electric vehicles, which allow customers to enjoy smooth, uninterrupted acceleration. In Newport Beach, electric car rentals have a Clean Air Vehicle (CAV) sticker from California’s DMV. With this decal, you can use HOV (high-occupancy vehicle) or carpool lanes even when there’s no other passenger in your rental car. Over 100 public charging outlets (Levels 2 and 3) are available in Newport Beach, California, of which 6% are free. There are 16 DC Fast Chargers, including two Tesla Superchargers.
  • You can get a car at Car rentals in Newport Beach, which can drop you off or even pick you up from the Santa Ana Airport, approximately 5.8 miles from the city. The Airport has a car rental center that offers various cars. You can access the center through the multiple buses that pick- up passengers from all the terminals within the Airport. Again, you can book Car Rentals in Newport Beach through KAYAK, which has numerous collections of cars that you can choose from for your stay in the city. Apart from that, there are other Newport Beach Car Rentals near the Airport. These rentals include; Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Alamo Rent-a-Car, National Car Rental, and Avis Rent-A-Car.
  • Some cheap Newport Beach car rentals have been incorporated into toll road programs to make it simpler for drivers to pay tolls. They provide handy options for rental agencies to add toll charges to your rental cost. For instance, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Sixt, and Thrifty have installed their FasTrak Transponder in specific models. This electronic toll collection technology allows easier processing of payments when using any toll road like CA-73. You can also pay the charges online if the rental car agency doesn't allow you to do so under the rental contract.
  • Newport Beach is one of California's major cities and has busy streets filled with people and cars. The city has many beaches, major recreational centers, and pedestrians filling the streets. • If you travel with kids, ensure your Newport Beach car rental has the appropriate baby car seats. If your child is under two years or is less than 40 lbs, restrain them in a rear-facing car seat. Toddlers ages 2 - 4 can ride in forward-facing seats, while kids between 4 and 8 can use booster seats. If your kid is past eight years and above 4 inches tall, you may fasten them using regular seat belts.
  • The city of Newport Beach, just like other big cities, has a lot of vehicles on its roads. Some roads might be narrow, forcing you as a driver to drive slowly, while others are wide and favorable for you to move. With the many vehicles on the road, traffic congestions are very common in the city, especially during rush hours. In the evenings, the city's major highways are generally crowded with vehicles as people try to get home from work. The most common routes prone to traffic congestion are interstate five and the 405 freeways.

Cigarette smoke odor in car. I tried calling car rental & no one answered phone. Then called a different location to exchange car & could not. Too much of a hassle to drive back to JWA & exchange car. Purchased essential oil to somehow mask odor.

We reserved a car but it wasn't ready and had to wait 25 minutes while they looked for a car and had it serviced. What good is making a reservation if it doesn't guarantee a vehicle?

Despite booking and paying for our rental car several weeks in advance, there were no cars available at our designated pick up time. Nor was the employee behind the counter able to issue us a refund or help us find a car at another location. He claimed their system “was not connected that way.” The entire experience was unacceptable.
