Cons: Pick up time on agreement was 4:00. We arrived at 11:00. We were informed they didn't have our car since it was early nor did they have an economy. Instead of $108 they wanted $560 for an upgrade. After much time spent haggling we got a $280 price. Never again

over sold on insurance
Pros: good high mileage car, clean and handled well easy in and out
Cons: sales of insurance. When I returned home , I discovered that what I was told my insurance and credit card would not cover actually did. They looked on computer while talking to me but wouldn't share screen to show me. I pointed this out to the counter person but they insisted it didn't apply in NM. Being tired, hot, and worn out, I added the extras they were pushing. They also made it sound like Santa Fe had a high auto theft and damage rate making it seem like if you didn't buy the insurance you'd be left in the desert. Will definitely be posting on social media. Signage was poor- couldn't tell one company from another.

Pros: Everything about the car was great
Cons: Customer Service was horrible and I felt like I was not important to Dollar as a customer. I was ignored on many occasions during the pick up and drop off. Same agent took attended to me each time. Very unprofessional and unwilling. Also made a reservation for one price and ended up paying almost $70 more than the reservation! I will never rent from Dollar again.

vehicle good but pick up and return not
Pros: the vehicle was very nice. New. Low Miles. Comfortable.
Cons: pick up was short and not informative in Phoenix - returned in Albuquerque. Some guy just pointed to cars and told us to go pick one. no instructions for drop off. No one there to meet you. Bad signage for return. Other companies had sign boards with instructions but nothing we could fine for dollar. We followed Hertz rules to leave keys in car. Very confusing return.

Where is my refund?
Cons: I cancelled my reservation due to no longer needing a vehicle. While that was taken care of properly, I still have not been credited for the added insurance that I purchased for the trip and that was about 6 days ago.

Cons: When I asked to extend my rental for 5 more hours the girl at the desk said she would have to rebook the entire weekend and quoted me a price of almost $200 more that what I have already booked. when I asked why she was charging me almost $200 more for 5 more hours she said that they couldn't just add one more rental day onto my reservations that she needed to rebook the entire reservation, loosing my price deal that I had signed up for and rebooking at top dollar of $75 per day for a basic, bottom line economy car. I declined the offer, kept my original reservation and rented another car on sunday from a different agency- never again will I use Dollar or anyone associated w/them!

Rate was too good to be true.
Cons: The rate that I was quoted was not even close to what I paid. Dollar has a no debit card policy, if you are renting local. Adding a credit card meant adding another driver which meant almost tripling my rate. On top of that customer service was non existent. One person working two counters (thrify and Dollar). Phone customer service is outsourced to the Middle East, which made it ver difficult to ask questions and get answers (I needed to add a day). The local phone number does not work, no one answers and no one ever called me back. Overall pretty disappointed!

Great deal on an economy car.
Pros: I needed a rental car while my car was in the shop; great value! I was pleased with drop off. The pick up was a little less smooth because I wasn't sure of all the details, but nonetheless, it was a great experience and I will use Kayak again.

Pros: Early drop off (4am) worked seamlessly.
Cons: The kayak price was the price I ended up paying, but the woman at the counter increased the price by about $20. She said there were extra taxes not included in the final-tax-kayak price, and she was wrong ultimately in terms of what I was billed after the car was returned, but it's never fun to deal with those hard-to-avoid car rental indignities.

Pros: I really enjoyed driving the Kia Soul, it was fun and not too bad on gas. Would like electronic locks but that's okay.
Cons: Would be nice to add a second driver without the $13 fee.

Pros: Liked the car and shuttle service. Price was good.
Cons: The computers were down. Employees hand wrote lengthy forms, pausing frequently to look up info. Long line of customers waiting. Thrifty employee enlisted to help. Polite, eager to help but slow. Car not in bay where it was said to be. At gate, sent back for having wrong car. Went back to Thrifty employee who corrected info on form. Exhausting & frustrating.

Pros: car worked fine service staff were helpful
Cons: I misunderstood where I was scheduled to return the car-Scottsdale not Phoenix Airport and almost had to pay a substantial penalty 5 times my original bill of $443. But again a service manager helped me out and settled the confusion.

Car rental ABQ
Pros: The people at dollar were extremely friendly and helpful. The car was ok but was a great deal.

FORGOT THE KEY
Pros: After returning the car I hurried to catch the shuttle to the airport. Once I arrived I pulled my wallet from my pocket and discovered i still had the key. I called the toll free number and they connected me to the local Dollar location who sent a rep to pick up the key from me at the airport. That is going the extra mile...grateful!!!

Don't be scammed
Cons: I made the reservation for four days and just used the default drop off pick up times of noon. I've never had a problem with any rental car company in the past picking up a car as much as a day early. I arrived 1 1/2 hours early and was told that if I picked up the car even ONE MINUTE before noon that my contract would be invalidated and a new one generated. So I asked what the "new" price would be. Instead of the $90.00 rate on my contract the new rate was quoted as $150.00. So I asked what would happen if I picked up the car one minute after noon and received a shrug. I started to walk away and the lady called me back and said maybe she could "do better." So I let her run another quote and she came up with a total of $110.00, still over the original rate, but my daughter was waiting for me at the terminal so I took it. The car initially looked fairly clean, but as soon as sunlight hit the windows, they were so smeared I could barely see out of them so I had to stop at the first gas station to clean them. Also I was told if I chose the "bring it back full" option I had to save the receipt to prove I had filled up within 10 miles of the airport. I did this and when I tried to give it to the lady who checked me in, she said she didn't need it. All in all extremely poor experience with Dollar and I will never rent with them again.

not particularly transparent about the hidden cost
Pros: I loved the car I had, very clean and comfortable. The staff at the pick up and drop off office was very nice and friendly.
Cons: The price showed on the online estimate does NOT correspond to what you are asked to pay...too many fees and extra taxes that are not included from thr beginning...it turned out to be almost twice as much!!!

Surprise! You actually did not rent a car.
Pros: Nothing. The experience was a nightmare and the customer service was deplorable.
Cons: Dollar allowed me to reserve a car with a debit card. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, they stated their terms of agreement had changed as of the first. When I explained that even 3rd party, 3 other companies had out right said I could not rent without a credit card, yet there company allowed me to proceed. I never received any correspondence, nor received any documentation suggesting otherwise. Instead, there customer service team rudely placed the blame on me. No sorry no attempt to make things right. I left the counter feeling accused more than anything.

Pros: An upgraded car, better than the economy class reserved!
Cons: Unit was getting long in the tooth, required alot of documentation regarding existing body, wheel and wind screen damage. Nothing major, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be held responsible for it.

Pros: Worn windshield wipers, hardly working air conditioning, and no windshield wiper fluid made for a very dangerous trip through rain and snow.

Return process is terrible
Pros: Good price
Cons: The return process was terrible—no one in the lot, a note that said to go to the counter, a grouchy person at the counter who said to go to the lot. Also, the requirement that you bring a receipt for the gas is infantilizing. Can't they look at the gas gauge?

Pros: I liked the quick drop off service and the young man working the booth was great.
Cons: Upon pick up there was one agent and a virtual agent. In 30 minutes the virtual agent only appeared one time to help people. Oddly, once the person was done with the virtual agent the lone agent stopped helping the person in front of her, and completed the transaction from the virtual agent. Upon entry to our car it smelled very badly of cigarettes and we wanted to switch. Took a while to accomplish that task. Upon drop off I was unloading my luggage from the front seat and a lot guy was moving a car, I guess I was not moving quick enough for him as he pulled up close to me with a moving car and then started honking the horn at me. Very poor customer service at the Albuquerque Sunport lot.

Pros: Quick and easy pickup and dropoff. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Cons: My Kayak rental costs doubled at the counter because I added an additional driver. Something not right there.

Cons: Car not mentioned, the molding on the driver side windshield was coming off , had to stop several times on the freeway to fix it otherwise it would have flown off injuring us or hitting other cars on the freeway.

Deceptive pricing. Renter Beware.
Pros: Rental car was clean, roomy and got good gas mileage. Comfortable and handled well in snowy conditions. GPS worked very well even in remote areas of northern New Mexico.
Cons: Slow leak in left rear tire required continual filling. At pickup I was informed that I could not use my Bank of America debit card. This meant that my traveling companion needed to use her card which added approximately $200 more for the rental (extra driver and other charges). I was quoted $230 online but ended up paying around $560. At pick up the woman at the counter said I could sign up for a top-up refill at $1.98 a gallon which I did. At return, I was charged for an entire tank of gas at $1.98, not a top-up. I will not use Dollar Car Rental again.

Pros: Car was fine
Cons: No one at drop off lot. went inside to desk and agent only asked for keys. all set? yes. they did not ask for fuel receipt at drop off. so, charged $14. called dollar, must send a scanned copy of my gas fill up receipt (within 10 miles). Ugh!

Cons: I purchased vehicle insurance through KAYAK for the duration of the rental and when I picked up the Vehicle, DOLLAR indicated they did not accept outside insurance. Why was it originally offered to me if they do not accept insurance?

Cheap and dirty
Pros: The desk service agent was terrific.
Cons: I paid more for the "special" than economy. I was expecting a compact or better. The car was an economy. It was not clean. It had cheap crank windows. I didn't have time to run back to the counter to ask for another car, or I would have. They only had one service person (in the middle of the day) to check me out. The wait was too long. I've never waited that long to turn the car in before.

you get what you pay for
Pros: easy pick up and drop off
Cons: car underpowered, interior was dirty -- windshield really dirty inside and out. no windshield washer fluid. had to stop and buy some at first exit after pickup at rental lot.

Pretty darn good
Pros: Car drove lovely, heater worked perfectly for the weather we were in.
Cons: I didn't even know they made cars where you had to roll up your own window. Car was pricey for a compact.

Land of enchantment
Pros: Easy to pick and drop. Fast checkout.
Cons: Car showed engine trouble 30 miles into the drive. Given we were far enough couldn't ask for a replacement car.

Bait and switch
Cons: When I booked the car, I booked a standared, but when I got to the rental, even though I had selected the standard car, it was selected as generic and what is avalible for that price. Which was the pint size Chevy Sonic, Ford Fiesta or Chevy Aero. Bottom line, know what you are renting.
