Interesting and historical hotel near city center. Market Street is no longer so pleasant as it was before.
Location is central a little the wrong side of town but this is why it is cheap I thnk if you can go along with the crazies around its fine. Beautiful hotel well above its class rating with lovely staff Just the number of homeless people that seem to congregate near the hotel its fine if you can live with it they do make up the fabric of the city
The beds were very comfortable. The hotel should provide bottled water in the rooms for staying guests.
The fact that it was so close to the street car pick up! The diner across the street was amazing! if you go there get the T- Rex.
The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Our hotel room was clean, quiet and we enjoyed the duvets on the bed. I would recommend this hotel to others. Close to transit with the bus and muni lines just outside of hotel. Only downfall about the hotel was there was hardly any restaurants close by. The attached hotel was ok - a little on the pricey side and not kid friendly. The restaurant staff was not friendly at all. There was about a 2 block stretch that was between the hotel and downtown. Lots of homeless - but nothing to be afraid of.
Fiendliness of staff and security No tea making facility, paying for internet access, no breakfast included. Location on Market St was a bit scary while walking.
We expected a two-star but it was a three star, right across from the Orpheum Theatre, not so far from Union Square, and the Manager quickly made a slight change to our booking when we asked.
was easy to get to Had to send breakfast back on a few occasions :-(
The room is big. The bed is comfortable. It looks long history. It was too noisy outside, maybe there is a anti-fire center nearby, for our sleep were broken by the noise every night. It was really terrible. And there was a door between two rooms each side with a lock. One night our neighbor was stranged by the door and tried to find things behind it. This made us uncomfortable.
Location of the hotel Staff...very unpolite
Location Bed was not very comfortable, rooms were small, AC was bad and could not be adjusted after a point, bathroom light kept flickering, expensive parking, included breakfast was of a poor quality, no bathtub in the bathroom.
Bird poop on my car even though it's covered parking. Noise from garbage container cleaning at 10 pm and 7 am right below my room. Getting from parking to lobby is just sketchy.
The only thing I did not like is that the hotel os smoke free. The need to offer a place for guests to smoke outside
Very affordable price (except parking ). The hotel is within walking distance of all kinds of great places: restaurants, bars, Union Square, Japan Town, etc. The bed are big and comfy! The ice machine was kind of hidden on the third floor. Kind of weird. Also, no fridge or microwave in the room.
The hotel has a funny smell. I didn't like it.
The Opal is an older building with beautiful architecture and charm. To get into the lobby you have to be a guest, using your room key to unlock the front doors. I was so much more relaxed within the hotel with this added security. It is in an excellent location to good food and sight seeing and if driving, is easy to get to from 101 and they also have a private, gated parking garage! We will definitely stay at the Opal San Francisco in the future! Would recommend curved shower rods to give a little extra room. Because of being an older building the electrical outlets are minimal and had to do some rotation of electrical devices.
This place was rated 3 stars. We went into it knowing that. It met our expectations. Great location, clean, good price. Staff were excellent. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. Nothing. Was exactly what we expected.
The bed was exceedingly cozy, and the room was spacious. I don't know if all rooms are that spacious, or just the handicapped-accessible ones. The free breakfast was decent. There was a strange smell I couldn't really identify, which first reminded me of a grandparent's home. When I returned to my family, I was told I smelled like a bandaid, and that was similar to the room's smell. Not unpleasant, just disconcerting.
no air conditioning
Front desk person was very helpfull. Carpet with stains and smelly.
Nothing Everything. Especially the manager.
The staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. The continental breakfast was very good. And in a good location if you want to see the city.
Nothing It was a horrifying experience. My family heard shouting and fighting from all over the place through out the night. The police and an ambulance came. Never dared to find out what happened. Also you get to smell pod from other rooms. The bed sheet had holes and burned marks. The elevator was either broken or turned off with no signs stating why. The AC didn't work. Called for repair but never showed up. When we checked out in the morning, there was a used condom on the ground right next to my car door. It's cheap, but what you pay is what you get.
Nice place to rest and regroup No microwave or fridge
The cost for the room Missing alot of furniture
Toilet broke twice, the wi-fi didn't work.
The "free parking" is not guaranteed to be the lot in the picture and unfortunately this was the sole reason we chose this place, we refused to park in the alley where I stepped in pee. After arguing with the clerk for 10 minutes, that the manager must have some type of contact number, we finally spoke with the manager to ask for a refund. The manager refused to recognize the misleading pictures & information regarding parking, provided by Civic Center Inn. He was extremely combative & only let up once we told him we'd quote the insane crap he was telling us on Yelp, and here. That's when his entire demeanor changed. I wouldn't suggest anyone staying here. The room was sketchy, too.
Dirty carpet, dirty walls, moldy shower.
Exelente cutomer service, ask for Victor really nice guy. Have parking but was full the weekend so you have to park on the street( if you can find a spot)
A lot nicer than I thought it would be compared to the reviews the area wasn't bad at all No larger towels for shower, could tell they really pushed penny's there.
The location was pretty much near the center of the city. They said all rooms were non-smoking, but I clearly saw a cigarette burn on our blanket the first night. Also, the bathroom easily gets dirty (the tile floor). The TV freezes and then turns off by itself many times which can get annoying.
Here are the things that stood out to me: Front desk staff - Specifically Latoya. I've stayed in many hotels in my life and I can honestly say that she's my all-time favorite. The whole group liked her. Professional but with a "friend" vibe. Easy to talk to and joke with. In a past life she was probably a bar tender because she has that ability to make you feel special by taking interest in whatever you have going on. Gave us great suggestions/feedback on nearby eateries (too bad we didn't get a chance to try Brenda's Creole Soul Food). She would be a big reason I'd stay at Cova again. The rooftop - So cool! I was there with a group of guys celebrating a bachelor party so we had to get our rooftop wolfpack pre-blackout toast on. #TheHangover The room - One of our rooms was a double queen and it was spacious and comfortable and most importantly clean. That bathroom faucet is a trip! I also found the benches in each room to be a nice touch that you don't get in most hotels. Location - It honestly wasn't anywhere near as bad as many of the reviews make it out to be. My group and I walked around a lot and never did we feel unsafe. I walked by myself once and it was like any big city; you're going to get a wide array of people, from bums to business people to locals to tourists. In fact, Cova and the international hostel next door gave the street a very international vibe. BTW, don't let the movie "Hostel" corrupt your view of hostels the way it did to me for a long time. This one looked like a hotel and there seemed to be many European and Asian tourists staying there. Also, many good restaurants nearby. Lers Ros Thai food was bomb, Mr Crave right in front of the hotel is a gem, and although we never got to try Brenda's Creole Soul Food, it HAS to be good because it was always packed with a line of folks willing to wait up to two hours.
Clean room, good staff, wifi Bad area of town, had an issue with water pressure in our room, breakfast is strange and not good
The hotel is nicely equipped and laid out. The room was nice, and I'd give the bed about a 5/10 in comfort. The staff was incredibly nice, saying hello to us every time we walked in, and goodbye every time we left. The included breakfast was fantastic, and that was a definite plus. They didn't have HGTV - that's a must when traveling! The location was pretty rough. I read about other travelers complaining that the location was bad, but I figured they were exaggerating. Ellis Street is pretty rough - lots of homeless people urinating and defecating on the sidewalks, but if you just skip Ellis and walk down another street to your destination, you'll be fine. There were a LOT of sirens going by the hotel each night, but I think that might have more to do with SF in general than just the Tenderloin District. Some of the loud noises at night might have been gunshots, but they also might have been dumpsters slamming. Some people say they wouldn't walk around at night, but it's actually not that bad. The homeless shelters open some time in the evening, so the later you're walking around, the less likely you are to actually encounter anyone.
We booked this hotel for the Haloween weekend. Despite being in the Tenderloin this was a really great hotel and we had a great stay. We didn't have any problems with the homeless people we had read about in previous reviews. It looked like there was a security guard in front of the hotel maybe making sure people weren't loitering. It was really easy getting an uber to get to where we were going. It was hot. Like really hot in the room. I know that air conditioners are not very common in san francisco but... maybe they could have left the balcony door open or something. It made getting our haloween costumes on kind of miserable. There were a couple fans to use but they didnt really help that much. Also, our toilet didn't really seem to work correctly.
Hotel itself looks nice, close to points of interest. The area surrounding the hotel was extremely rough and unsafe.
Free shuttles a few times a day. Staff was super helpful showing us best values for travel, food. Honestly can't say enough good things about the staff Rough area known as the tenderloin. I didn't mind and there were younger women on the sidewalk at night but area may be off putting for some
The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful throughout. Great rooftop terrace to go and enjoy the city view. If you could pick up the hotel and move it, that would make it better. While we were never harassed or felt in danger, the neighborhood was a bit sketchy. We heard gunshots in the middle of the night and saw a woman intimating on the sidewalk. We took lyft everywhere and didn't have an issue coming and going, however.
The Staff was so kind, patient and helpful. They are what made my stay special. They are familiar with the area and local activities. We arrived super early and the staff held our bags, until we were able to check in, so we could start our sightseeing. The hotel was clean and we'll maintained. Great security and always felt safe (traveling as a mother and two teenage girls). Loved the shuttle service which was easily scheduled and on time. Room was comfortable and upgraded, which is hard to find in San Fran. WiFi was fast and no loss of connection. Highly rated and approved by teenagers. Housekeeping was great, efficient and cleaned room daily. Bottomline, I will stay again when I head back in September with my husband. I'll say location as a con because it is the "elephant in the room" on reviews. You can't change location so there's only so much to say. The Thing is, it's not that bad. My daughters and I walked to public trans during the day and used hotel shuttle when we returned at night. No problems at all throughout stay. Area is what you expect from any major downtown area. There were homeless in front of the $400 per night hotels too so why pay more. Only "issue" I had was at the restaurant where you have your continental breakfast. They changed the breakfast options in January, which aren't reflected on the menu. No eggs, no potatoes and replacement of items are scarce. You can turn in breakfast voucher (reportedly worth $18.75) plus pay $8.75 and get the breakfast you were promised. That's seems like the voucher isn't worth anything because the breakfast is only worth $8.75. Eitherway, the oatmeal got me going in the morning.
The hotel was very clean, room and bathroom are large, bed comfortable, and the staff was very helpful. The top 8th floor lounge was nice and relaxing. Overall for the area this was the best hotel. Shuttle service to local visitors sites as well.
Friendly Staff, Clean Room, Downtown, reasonable rates. What more can you ask for?
given the rate, good and comfortable amenitiea scary to walk around at night
They charged me $300 on a bogus charge saying we had extra people I our room. When I called and asked them about it, they refused to look into it and made me go through my credit card company instead. They didn't even notify me of the charges.I saw them on my credit card statement the following month. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
Staff was rude
the design. The restaurant isn't bad Too much noise at night, Somebody would have to tell to some guests that its not permitted to be chatting on the terrace after eleven o'clock. The town, Soma, its not as safe as we wanted. Dangerous at night.
yes very much, the beds were very confortable and staff was wonderful. colorful and happy place no
This hotel was clean and the room was spacious and the furniture was modern and nice. The location of this hotel is the worst part. Actually it is located on the 7th Street which is between the two more notorious areas of SF (we were told to avoid walking on the sixth street and the areas above and under the 7th street are also unsafe). These streets are full of homeless people and during the night is a bit scary. These streets also smell funny. SF is wonderful and really worths visiting but we wouldn't stay to this hotel again due to this problem. The reception staff wasn't helpful either.
The room was really comfortable. The acoustic insulation was not satisfactory. I could hear another guest playing loud music early in the morning.
The bed & sheets were clean & comfortable. The room size itself was super small. They can also do away with the stylish chairs, there was simply no room for it. Maybe replace it with a posh cube chair that stores under the table a lot better
I had a large comfortable room. The BART terminal was very close. I think I would always stay here when visiting San Francisco.
The thing I require the most from a hotel room is silence at night time. With this hotel it was pretty good. I had a room towards the inner courtyard and you can hear people chatting or walking outside your room but you don't hear almost anything from the streets. This means it's silent most of the night. The weather was such that I did not need A/C or heating much but it sounded too loud to be left running over night to me. The hotel room was also very tidy and the staff was helpful. They also fixed my wall-plug adapter for me when I had trouble with it. Nothing much here, you could hear other people from outside your room through the wall/window. No sound from adjascent rooms, though.
ThemIss come into your room even when the privacy sign is in. She didnt eve knock just barged right in! Not comforting if your trying to leave your room at all while on vacation.
The staff and restaurant were excellent Being a guest and having to pay extra for parking. Makes staying in the city to expensive because you don't really want to walk anywhere in that area at night
Rooms looked fairly newly renovated. Homeless receive free services next door so they're everywhere and they're aggressive. NOT a place I'd bring a family to stay if enjoying SF.
Typical chain hotel amenities, and comfy bed. Good location. Housekeeping came in the room at 7am to me pushing them out saying come back later. If she had it her way she'd clean around me and make me into the sheets go get her job done. Hidden fees. Add $100 extra to your bill for "taxes and other costs". Parking is $50 a night
Rooms are clean, communal areas are clean. But its a basic stay, good for if you need to be in the area and do not require more than a comfortable bed. Location not ideal. Far from downtown. Room was made daily, though we expressed that an attendant should not enter the room (not a big deal).
Increased price at booking by 15%. Quoted price $135/night became $220 after increase, taxes, and enormous $42 parking fee. Tried to cancel, they wouldn't allow that.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Room had at least two flies at all times. Sheets may may not have been changed. Restaurant food was like pay x4 the price of Denny's but the same quality
Staff was excellent. Area of the hotel. Not an area I would walk around.
Parking garage is $45 Small restroom and no fridge
Wonderful staff in very good location (especially for the price!)
Free parking that was not advertised They couldn't find out reservation at first. To enter their parking garage you need to run inside the hotel and tell them to press the button!
Terrible customer service. Rude.
Good location, good price. Bare bones. You get a room and a bathroom and that's about it. I usually see a room as a place to sleep, so it didn't bother me too much, but I could see how other people might be unhappy. No AC, no coffee machine, small room, old building, old plumbing.
the rooms didn't smell good. There was a lot of noise in the alley and in the next rooms.
Nothing I burnt my leg taking a shower. I was cold. There was no central heating so I took a hot shower. The hotel said hey would refund me one night stay and have not done so. I spoke to bill and Mary and nothing. I'm very upset
The hotel is centrally located near everything. The staff is nice and the facility is kept clean. No AC; and, we had to sleep with the windows open. While sleeping with the windows open is not bad, we had to put up with the noisy city life.
We were sight seeing and Bill gave us excellent advise on how to see the city. We had a late flight out of town and we were able to travel around town until early evening and they kept our luggage and arranged for our transportation to the airport.
The floors creeked everywhere you walked.
My experience with the Embassy Hotel was terrible and a complete disappointment. The iconic part about the experience is that it had nothing to do with the actual stay because when myself and my friends arrived , we were informed that they overbooked and they were moving us to the Oasis Inn. When we got to the property, our room was run down compared to what we paid for a room at the Embassy Hotel and our bathroom toilet was clogged. In fact, the front desk attendant informed us that we should just unclog it ourselves. On top that, we were expected to pay the same rate as if we were staying at the Embassy Hotel. The rest of the evening of our first day of vacation was spent looking for another hotel. Overall, customer service at The Embassy Hotel was absent in that they didn't care where they placed us, unapologetic for overbooking, and didn't provide any compensation for their blunder. Bad customer service, mistreatment of the guests, and a lack of human compassion - that's the Hotel Embassy experience.
I liked the location for travel purposes, however the tv in our room did not work. Took a little complaining before we were relocated.
Staff was friendly and accomidating. My car was safe, and I could see it from my window. It did the job, I stayed by myself for 1 night anyways. It had a faint smell of... plastic?? I don't know what it was, but I smelled it. If you're coming with a family, I don't recommend going down Balboa. I got offered to buy weed by 3 different guys. PARKING ISN'T FREE ANYMORE! I paid 30$, but it was worth it. They close the gate, so I felt very safe leaving my car there.
Helpful staff, comfortable bed. I would have liked more extensive breakfast choices.
N/A wouldn't accept cash and unfriendliness of staff
Good clean room, friendly staff, value for money. Location not ideal with quite run down surrounding areas
Kitschy decor is cute, gives room a less sterile feel. The hotel markets itself as boutique, but is actually owned by the Best Western across the street.
nice room.very nice looking and comfortable. no ice machine on the floor.paying for parking.
Its a stylish place, in a not so great location; however the personnel were very nice. The location, and parking fee
Very friendly and helpful staff Offers free wifi but very very slow and does not work most of the time
Close to a BART station. Very convenient from International Airport. Public safety is not so good around the hotel. Sometimes, in the midnight, outside of the hotel was noisy.
I loved the room decor. Although having a refrigerator in the room would have been good for storing my medications. The location is bad and the availability of something decent to eat past 10:00 p.m., is none. The staff added additional items to the billing and I had to request several times for the rate to be corrected and the additional items removed.
Staff members were very polite, and helped with obtaining taxi when Love Fest - parade along Market Street was in full swing. Only experienced one staff member more interested in his dinner break than serving customers. Try and avoid room facing road, very noisy traffic and people walkingby. Not suitable for ladies to walk back from Market Street when it is dark, to Motel - 3 blocks. Unfortunately a lot of homeless people line the road en route back, esp at night. Staff friendly, however, would not accept Travel Card insisted on card with name on it, which was inconvenient.
The staff were great, very helpful, and the room was pretty cool Minor point, but the tv reception was awful and the remote control did not work.
The very helpful staff and the cozy atmosphere of the hotel.
it was cild in my room (309) the beakfeast was very good and the people in the hotel too.
Inexpensive good-value hotel. Friendly, easygoing and down-to-earth staff. Nice and informal atmosphere. The room and hallways had a charmingly dowdy appeareance, a bit like some grandmother's home, which makes for a nice personal touch. Big bay windows and York mints in the room on arrival. The hotel is located in a somewhat trendy, upscale-ish, village-like neighbourhood, with cafés, bakeries, various boutiques and public transportation easily accessible. I stayed in a 2nd floor street-facing room, and while not a major issue there was a bit of traffic noise. Light sleepers might want to bring earplugs or ask for a room facing away from the street. The shared bath is kind of dinky, and the bedspread in my room has probably seen better days.
Very friendly hotel staffs, family style hotel, and quient environment. Nothing should be complained. Only disadvantages are 1) It is a bit far from the Union Square area, 2) You have to share restroom and bathroom with other guests.
Friendly people at reception
The staff was very friendly and supporting.
Breakfast in a family atmosphere.
The 24 hour desk and the flexible times for breakfast There was only one shower / bath per floor
The staff were all very friendly and hospitable, It was a good place to meet people if you felt like a chat at the breakfast table. The continental breakfast was also quite nice, and there are some amazing art galleries, home decor shops and funky boutiques near by , It is also near public transport The carpets look like they could do with a clean, but I believe they will be changed soon as they are in the middle of changing hands. Also there are a lot of homeless people around but once you get used to it it isn't as threatening as it initially looks
Dennis at reception was a dear and wonderfully warm and helpful. And the continental breakfast was such a pleasant surprise. it reminded me of Dutch B&B with cold cuts, hard boiled eggs and even muffins & hot toast & juice ... excellent value for money. The shared single bathrooms was a trifle tiresome with so many people waiting. Otherwise the stairs would be a challenge for those with heavy bags.
I like to be serviced with the good manner by chinese room cleaning women. They all are really good.
The set up of the hotel was great. There is a heated pool on the middle, with swimming up until midnight. You can still swim even when it very cold outside. All the room doors face each other, which makes for a fun, friendly atmosphere. The eatery on site is AMAZING! I'm not kidding when I say this, it was probably one of the best places I've eaten. It's filled with old record albums and has a cool, sexy vibe. My husband was playing in a show/concert that night so we were all able to walk to the Regency Ballroom...it's very close. To have free parking right outside so you have access to your car is almost unheard of and very convenient. This is the place for fun, and they do quiet everything down after midnight. Don't go here for peace and relaxation though. It is not for that. It's for fun swimming, good accommodations, location, eating and enjoying life. The staff was amazing and we really appreciated them being so nice and welcoming. They seemed genuinely happy to see us..for real! For a fun night out in the city this is now my go to place and if that's what your looking for this is the best spot. I also saw a bunch (I mean about 5 groups) of bachelorette parties. This a super place for that and for eating brunch or going out for drinks. Only drawback is it could use some minor updating, but not enough to not want to stay there. It's overpriced a bit but so is every place in SF. It's worth the money so get your bathing suit, or not, and go rock out!
Hotels eco efforts and the super staff appreciated. Windows can't really be shut tight so the heat and noise can be an issue.
Very friendly and individual stuff members. Very cool ambient.
Hotel has a nice out fashioned look to it. It was well maintained and clean. The hotel provided a very simple complimentary breakfast. The hotel is located in a bad neighborhood so we didn't really feel safe walking outside it. The price was too high given the quality of rooms and location.
The staff were great - very friendly and very helpful. The hotel is surrounded by gangs, drug dealers, prositiutes, homeless people, drunks and drug addicts. Quite the walk home. An overpriced motel in a bad neighbourhood,
Very clean, comfortable beds, nice washroom, refregerator, close to seaside. Brekfest poor, self served at reception.
Wonderful, responsive staff. Room was a little small. Breakfast was very fresh.

Nice staff and clean hotel. Very nice complimentary breakfast. entranxe and lobby area tastefully decorated. Inadequate closer space & barely any drawer space. Very short sink in bathroom. Sink is fine for people 5'6 and below. Room was very stuffy due to small size so window needed to be cracked open. Problem with window being own is lots of noise outside.
Kind staff Too small room than the price I paid

The room was adorable, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The staff was super friendly. The 24/7 coffee and water was a nice touch as were the 3pm cookies. The hotel and experience overall far exceeded my expectations.
Tiny roomNoisy , No ac Expensive Parking
The best thing about this hotel was that they offered cookies in the late afternoon, and all day tea/coffee. Room and beds are small. No air conditioning in the room. In room coffee was not replenished. Bathroom very outdated. Room service did not clean the room, all they did was make the bed. The elevator is old and frightening. Staff is very curt with guests.
The location of this hotel within the city Complimentary breakfast Amenities Hotel Staff

Good continental breakfast, helpful staff, complimentary cookies that were tasty, clean room, eco-friendly, microwave/fridge/silverware in room No central heat/AC, street noise
The continental breakfast was nice (nothing amazing, but a decent selection). Free WiFi was a good feature (but it is too slow to stream anything). Location 10 minutes from a BART was convenient and two blocks away is a nice strip of small restaurants. This was NOT a 3.5 star place. It was dated and the room was small and there was no air conditioning. I know the Bay area does not get hot often, but it meant to stay comfortable you had to keep your window open and that meant hearing traffic all night.
If you don't mind a hotel with bathrooms and showers down the hall, this place will work for you. I travel a lot, so am not used to seeing bugs in a room. Strange policy to turn in keys to the front desk when you go out actually puts hotel employees and others in lobby on notice that you are gone and room is empty which is a bad idea. the neighborhood is on the edge of the Tenderloin, so a lot of street people outside the hotel.
place was creepy. stayed for four hours. woke up and canceled the rest of the stay. cheap prices but very creepy setting. kinda dirty, rough neighborhood. no bathrooms or shower in room. weird system of turning the key into the office each time you leave. stayed at the good hotel around the corner for a few dollars more.. way better options around. didn't like a thing other than the old timey record playing in the lobby.
Location, and the staff was friendly. There was a slight problem with my reservation and the staff was pretty helpful to fix it. Shared bathroom, which is REALLY small (only shower, no sink), you have a separate toilet, which is shitty as well, and a small sink in your room. Two separate faucets, and ry uncomfortable. We were four guys is a double bed room. Really tiny, no room for luggage, small beds. It's an OK place if you're staying for one, maximum two nights. Otherwise most definitely find something with at least a private bathroom, despite the slightly higher price.
I stayed here for the Dreamforce Conference for a week. The beds were alright. That's about where the compliments stop. They explained that I was expected to leave my hotel room key at the front desk every time I left, which I found to be odd. When I came back for the key in the evening, all I needed to say was my room number, and they just handed the key over without verifying my identity (I didn't even give my name). One time, I forgot the key in my room when I locked the handle. I went down to the desk and they handed over the entire master key ring (which works on every door in the building) for me to retrieve my key. NOT OK!! The shower closet, which was shared by the entire floor had a tiny shower stall and felt like standing under a garden hose. The window would not lock, nor would the deadbolt, but at this point my expectations were so low I didn't even bother wasting my time to report it. There were bugs in the room. Oh, and on my way out of the hotel the last morning to catch my early flight, the building was locked from the inside with no way to unlock it without a key - good thing the building never caught on fire. I could not recommend this hotel even to an enemy.
It's a place for homeless people
They didn't clean my room even when I left on the knock-door the note
Its a awesome place,it is in downtown of San Francisco,so everything is closer. It was nice to stay there
Price in San Francisco Small bathroom and shared with all floor old building and facilities
the location was great Staff was slow, incompetent, and unaccommodating. The rules for the hotel were ridiculous. No guests allowed, or a $30 charge for ONE guest every night. You must leave your keys with the front desk every time you leave the hotel. They ran up my total, then when I asked for an itemized receipt, they charged me $5 more because they had totaled it wrong. It also took almost half an hour to get the itemized receipt because some slow idiot was making a half-assed word document from scratch for it. Also the room was tiny, dirty, and the bathroom and shower are seperate closests shared by the entire floor. Don't stay here.
Great location, great staff, very clean hotel. My mother and I had a lot of fun and thank you guys for the donuts and coffee.
The location is great, but also not so great since the civic center section of SF is right next to the rough Tenderloin section, and Market St always has lots of crazies floating around. I needed to be near the Civic Center and this hotel was perfect, close to BART (literally a station is less than half a block away), and close enough to Caltrain (about a 30 min walk). I did not care for the common bathrooms and showers, nor did I like having to leave my key behind at the front desk every time I left the hotel. The decor is very dated, but that doesn't bother me personally, and they offered donuts and coffee in the mornings. If you are looking for a place to rest your head, and you are not easily grossed or creeped out this hotel will be a bargain if you need to stay downtown. If you can afford to spend several hundred dollars a night, then you would be better off finding a more luxurious hotel.
Easy to get, independence (you do not have to talk with the staff), quiet although there is some noise outside. The internet only works near the front desk (I think is a misconfiguration) and most of the time is very slow.
The hotel offer a good price, clean rooms, close to Polk St. and many cafes and restaurants. The location can be a little upsetting at night.
Very noisy. People yelling outside the hotel and ambulance contsnatly driving by until 4am. Its an excellent hotel, unless of course, the guest wishes to sleep. I ended up checking out after night 1 of my three day trip to SF.
I didnt like the location. The neighbourhood is very very dodgy. As a female traveling alone, I didnt feel comfortable walking around in the neighbourhood. Not value for money considering what I paid, and the poor location. No laundry services available on site the hotel.
central location / good quality for price / parking lot right next door
The room was large with a refrigerator and huge closet. it was very close to the event we were attending. the pricing was not over exaderated and the room felt very comfortable the elevator was broke
Location Light bulbs that was burnt out
The bathroom and beds were clean. We did not like the neighborhood and the smell inside the hotel. We felt very uncomfortable while walking on the street in the evening. The staff wasnt friendly.
The guy at the front desk checked us in 3 hours early just to be nice. They were very accommodating when we checked out too - let us leave our luggage there until we returned. They were prompt about getting us anything we needed during our stay. It is very close to Fisherman's Warf (20 min. Bus ride - and the buses come every 3 - 6 min.) and a whole lot cheaper than anything at the war The elevator is definitely old and slow. It only fits 5 people (barely) and it can be incredibly slow - so our recommendation is take the stairs when you come down in the morning.
Good location for my purposes; and the price was right. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful (a big difference from last year, when the former male clerk went out of his way to be obnoxious). The porno house across the street is gone. Very bad unidentifiable smell in the room. I was too tired to ask for a change, so have only myself to blame.
