Good location, nice decor, friendly staff. Mold in the grout in the bathroom is a huge negative. Also, unfinished patching of drywall in the bathroom and water stain on the bedroom ceiling. Rooms are a little small... Fine to just sleep but I wouldn't plan on hanging out in the room for any longer Was woken up by the picketers across the street for the meridian. Warm friendly considerate smart organized clean absolute perfection!!!! There is absolutely no where else to stay when you visit this fantastic and beautiful city. From the absolute first second upon arriving at the Mandarin I was treated with the upmost kindness and warmth that made me feel right at home immediately. The entire staff were so helpful in getting me organized and situated after over a 2000 mile drive from Dallas. After a very speedy trip up 47 floors the hallway leading to my room just happened to have a sneak preview window on both sides of the hallway...and the views my friends...the views were worth every mile driven!!!! Room was spectacular bathrooms very well appointed and the bed was just Heaven. All the food I had there was fresh delicious and again the whole staff really knew how to make you feel welcome and relaxed. Will never stay anywhere else in all the future visits to San Francisco. The Mandarin Oriental Hotel has my business for life!!!

The comedic value of listening to drunks yell at eachother outside in the street. The sink (no bathroom) was a nice touch. The place was actually clean enough. When you arrive to check in, you're asked to sign an agreement that says you will not engage in violent behavior. Seems like that would be a given in any lodging arrangement outside of a prison or halfway house. That set the tone for our one night stay. I would recommend this hotel ONLY for confident, young single traveler who has experience in adventure tourism. Although, you could save money and stay in a hostel instead. Don't bring your family here. If you're out hitting the North Beach clubs, and you just want a place to sleep after last call -- maybe this will work. But bring ear plugs. ... more

Was able to book a room the night wore when everything else even air bnb was booked up. Place was way nicer than a one star! Wish it validated parking but no nothing major. If you're young or on the adventurous side this place is for you, it's perfectly clean and safe but not your traditional hotel, expect to hear and see your neighbors, but I myself spent the night with a female here and she loved it, we pretended we were at the Chelsea hotel and Bob Dylan was staying next door playig his guitar on his bed! The location is unbeatable and a 24 hr door man makes it so easy to come and go.
