Pros: The car was very easy to drive

Pros: car was not very clean- rattle on the front underside of car- annoying GPS thing (?) attached to windshield that blocked view windshield water fluid needed filling at the time of pick-up

Terrible Service at Pickup
Cons: The employee at the pickup counter was rude and spent the entire time I was there working on his cell phone. He offered me an upgrade which I declined but he did anyway so when my total came up it was twice the amount I had reserved via Kayak. This was likely because he constantly worked on his cell phone the whole time I was talking to him and while he was using the Budget computer. He then had to redo the whole rental agreement. He then sent us to the wrong car and when we tried to leave we had to return the car and start over only to be directed to the wrong car again! I asked to speak to his manager and he refused to let me. I eventually had to go to the Avis counter, which is apparently comanaged with Budget in Austin, to get the correct car from another employee. No upgrade or discount was offered.

Fuel penalty charge
Cons: Outrageous fuel charge for not being able to refilling the tank before drop off to catch a plane. 3× the cost of fuel.

Added cost scam
Pros: Original booking was great through kayak.
Cons: Budget at check in said I did not have any insurance and I needed to buy their insurance at $36 and they did not tell me that was per day. I had bought insurance already and my credit card shows I was charged $9 a day so I needed up paying $150 for insurance for 3 days! Rip off

You guys were awesome!
Pros: My flight was very late - I did not arrive until 2AM, however, the Avis counter gladly and cheerfully processed my reservation. I was afraid i would have to sleep at the airport until 6am when the office opened, but you were there and I appreciate it immensely.
Cons: I was not able to get through to Budget on the phone - I called 3 times. Also the car I had was not great: there was rubbing in the left front break area and I had no idea how to start the car (push button + apply break)

Hold on my bank account for a one day rental??????
Pros: Car was okay.
Cons: Well, I rented a car for one day, which I was told the cost totaled around $180 for the day, plus I got renters insurance. I was charged for that AND I then had a charge for $477 on hold in my banking system for almost a week now. I have NO CLUE what this charge is for and I am very angry about it! I paid for the rental, I dropped it off on time in good condition and the gas tank was full. I have tried to resolve this issue for a whole week now and all I get is a different story from everyone I talk to.There is no reason at all that Budget should be holding MY MONEY from me. This is unacceptable and I will not use you business ever again.!

Pick up and drop off
Pros: Pick up at the airport was professional and prompt
Cons: Dropoff in New Braunfels was a joke. The office supposedly opened at 7:30. We got there at 10 on a cold and windy morning. The place was locked and nobody answered the phone. We left three messages. We were on the verge of just leaving the car there when the clerk finally strolled up at 10:30..

Unbelievable lack of professionalism
Cons: Everything! 1) branch at airport does not communicate with the call center and vice versa. 2) call center apparently can't contact branch directly to verify actual car availability. 3) took our reservation but didn't have cars available since the day before. 4) no support at all, it felt like I was talking to a bunch of kids that didn't know what they were doing! Taking budget of any future rental options

Impossible to extend
Pros: There is no way to extent the contract and stay with the car an extra day. When I contacted a Budget agent she told me I would have to call the actual branch I rented from, and when I called that local number it redirected me to the national number again. I just stayed with the car one more day and I will figure it out when I get back, or let them call me wondering where is the car.

Poor customer service
Pros: Budget is located on-airport in Austin. it's still a bit of a walk for sure but it beats a shuttle bus to a remote location
Cons: Counter agent was awful from the get-go. Not sure what was angering her in life but she made a point of taking it out on me. Four of us traveling for a funeral - I reserved a Ford Fusion sedan car or similar. No sedans left so she told me my "similar" options were a truck or mini van since they are" similar". I disagreed that a truck or cargo van aren't similar to a sedan car, which only turned her cold attitude into lousy. When I asked more info about the mini van it turns out to be a 12 passenger CARGO VAN. Not doubt in my mind whatsoever that she purposely misrepresented it as a "mini van" in the hopes I would just taken it and leave. I told her no on the truck or cargo van. So she said I could get a Ford Excursion SUV but she would NOT wave or reduce the $50 upgrade fee. It's evident that woman should not be in a customer-facing role. Not one ounce of politeness and she was manipulative. she could not have cared any less about making sure I was a satisfied customer.

Inefficient drop off process
Pros: The representatives checking me in to pick up the car were great. Friendly and professional staff.
Cons: To start with, I was given a small smart car that is not made for the rain. Unfortunately, whenever 18 wheelers passed me on the highway the car shook violently. The worst part is when I returned the car no attendant was there, so I filled out the slip as instructed with the date and time 11:06pm. A week later I checked my credit card and the charge was for two days instead of one. Even though there was no attendant, they claimed my car was turned in late at 4am. I was 30 minutes trying to resolve this. Unacceptable.

Pros: Drop off was fast
Cons: Rental agent slow and very pushy with the insurance and fuel options
