We rented 2 cars for our group and one of the cars was incorrect. We ordered a “Chevrolet Suburban or similar” and got a minivan. Mistakes happen but the man working the pick up counter at the airport in Kona was the rudest customer service person I have ever dealt with. It was appalling. I wouldn’t rent through Hertz again because of this person.Reviewed Dec 3 2024

In general our rental experience in Hawaii was fine. Pick up was crazy due to the amount of customers and not enough rental agents. However, the agents themselves were very pleasant & professional, despite several disgruntled customers. Our rental was a brand new model, was clean and waiting for us after 90 minutes in line. I always thought Hertz had higher standards than other rental car agencies…. Rented a car in Kona Hawaii. I was given a 2019 car with over 33,000 miles. Disappointing. And what was even worst? The safety inspection for this car had expired 11/21. I rented the car in December… so, I was driving illegally until I was able to go back to the airport and switch cars. The agents response? “Oh. That must have been an oversight. You didn’t get stopped, did you?” I was lucky and had not been stopped by the police, but I can say one thing…. No more Hertz rentals.Reviewed Dec 24 2021
