Cons: Horrible company. You'll probably have a good experience with them if you read their fine print. I would strongly advise it as they don't operate like most rentals.

They refused to rent me a car, despite my reservation...
Pros: I guess it was convenient that the guy refused me so quickly. I didn't waste too much time there.
Cons: I was told that since I lived within a few miles of the car rental vicinity, I needed to have car insurance in order to rent a car there. I had purchased additional rental insurance specifically for this trip, but apparently that wasn't adequate because I needed "actual car insurance". He then points to a sign placed on top of the counter that stated this, as if I should have seen it when I was placing the reservation online 2 weeks ago... Nothing was mentioned online or in my confirmation email about this. Third party sites really shouldn't be selling this Advantage's services

Cons: No warning during booking that Adv needs customers to produce proof of liability insurance. When I produced docs agent didn't know that bodily injury stood for liability in insurance doc! Total wait time to rent =1 hr due to understaffing and staff lack of knowledge

Worst rental ever
Cons: Customer service and rules are aweful. I reserved a car with this company cuz it was cheaper and spent 20$ for taxi to get ther but wasn't able to pick it up because have been told that I have to have my own insurance even can't buy it from them therefore didn't get qualified even tho there was no mention of it on confirmation. How can I have insurance or what am I going to do with that if don't have a car, that's why I'm renting it. So I ended up paying triple price of what I suppose to pay with reservation.

I didn't get what I reserved
Pros: The sedan was brand new and clean.
Cons: I reserved a mid size SUV and when I went to pickup they said that they cannot give me the SUV because I am a local resident living around the airport. They would only offer me upto a full size car or a minivan. I was helpless.

Pick up problem
Cons: My incoming flight was 6 hours late so I called ahead to tell the location I wouldn't be there until about 1am the next day instead of the scheduled 7pm. The agent at the 800 number said they would put a note of this on the reservation so there would not be a problem. Upon arrival the desk agent told me my reservation was expired, and acted like she wouldn't give me a car. I explain the plane delay and that I had called ahead just to preclude this problem. She acted like, well too bad, it is expired. Luckily another agent came by and showed her the note about being late, and almost reluctantly she gave me what she said was the last car available (Hey, not really my issue how many cars you have available, as long as you have one for my reservation.) She was certainly not customer focused at all. Hey, I didn't want to be there at 1am either, but she is being paid to be there and deal with customer's needs.

Over the top Customer Service
Pros: I think I must have just picked the right night to stroll into ARC, but the two staffers on were beyond nice to me. They upgraded me, took pity on our shivering Hawaiian souls and started the car for us and brought it around, and recognized me at drop-off and were all smiles. It turned into a "people are good wherever you go" learning experience for my daughters, who were braced for some NJ unfriendliness. 6 stars for representin' my home state with class.
Cons: The drop off site was hard to find with some sketchy signage.

Pros: Drop off was the only positive experience, and the person was very pleasant.
Cons: Picking up the car was a nightmare, with about a 30 minute wait even though there were only 2-3 people in line ahead of me. Then the car they wanted to give me wasn't there, then the one they gave me had a temporary license plate on it, which seemed odd. The car itself was okay and drove fine, but a useless 30 minute wait when you're getting charged hourly for part of your rental just isn't right.

Kayak saved the day!
Pros: I needed a car last minute and I tried three different places and none of them had a car that fit my preference. After feeling helpless, I turned to advantage and their great deals really came in clutch!

Dirty car and slow customer service
Pros: Car ran excellent and everything worked
Cons: Checking out car there were 3 agents working...but their process is stupid slow. Once it was our turn it took over 30 mins to get out to the car. Everything is asked online, so not sure why Advantage process is so much slower than others. The car was dirty inside and the front windshield had a film so bad I had to stop at the first gas station to clean windows to drive safely.

Nice Car, High Price, Up-sell pressure at pick up
Pros: Car was very nice, near new. The agent at drop off was pleasant and efficient
Cons: Although this wan not the most expensive option, the Price was about $100/wk more than competitors. The agent at pick up was pushing very pricy up-sell features like Easy Pass and GPS. The price of those exceeded the price to rent the car.

Outside service awful
Pros: Free upgrade to larger, nicer car.
Cons: After inside paperwork was done, was told to go outside and find attendant. Finally found her texting someone in one of the cars at which point she took my paperwork, examined the the parking spot and led me to a nice car. Unfortunately it was the wrong one, discovered by the gate agent. Took me another 45 mins to get out of lot. Upon check in, the attendant was absent again, finally found her texting again in another car.

Cons: The only problem I had was not being aware when booking on line that they would need a $200 deposit that they took from my debit account. Working on a tight budget, that took a large chunk of available spending money set aside for my vacation.

Worst car rental ever
Pros: Nothing they're suck
Cons: They agents are very wood don't know how to talk to customers . I had to leave and go to different car rental .

Second rental same results
Pros: Customer service was good but car was poor. Lots of scratches and dings, interior tire pressure warning light on the entire time.

Pros: The Charger is a fun car to drive.
Cons: Read the fine print--Advantage seems to be running some sort of a new scam. Advantage now requires proof of collision insurance if you live within 65 miles of the Newark Airport rental car facility. If you can't show proof of collision coverage, they won't rent to you. I have a liability insurance policy and colllision coverage through my Visa card, but they still would not rent to me. My girlfriend (who has a drivers license from another state) ended up having to rent the car, or we would have been stuck without a car on Thanksgiving weekend. They claimed the new collision policy was clearly stated, but it was on a scrap of paper with tiny print taped to the BACK of another sign at the rental counter. I saw two people with car reservations turned away because they could not show proof of collision coverage. Tha car also smelled like weed, but that was a separate issue.

Advantage provides no advantage
Cons: When I went to pick up my car rental at Newark Liberty Airport I was greeted by a surly representative for Advantage and it went downhill from there. Kayak or Advantage should have noted that Advantage will only rent to people who have an automobile with insurance coverage. I rent vehicles because I don't have a vehicle, therefore I do not have auto insurance. When Surly McRepresentative 'assisted' me, he said he wanted to see my airline ticket. When I said I was local to the area, he said he would need to see my automobile insurance policy. When I told him I didn't have an auto policy, he told me I couldn't rent from Advantage. Their counter was empty compared to the other counters that had at least several people. There was truly no advantage to renting with Advantage and that meant I had to scramble at the 11th hour to get another rental with another company at a reasonable rate.

Pros: Nothing. They wouldn't rent me the car.
Cons: They wouldn't rent me the car because I had a local license. I called the night before to confirm and then when I arrived after traveling 1.5 hours to rent the car they told me they wouldn't rent it to me. I am so angry. In was going to rent the car so I could drive me girlfriend to see her father who was dying of prostate cancer in Virginia. We both took l time off from work to go see him and we're not able to get down to see him in a timely fashion. I will never use Kayak or Advantage again to rent a car.

Pros: Apart from a slow check in line, my experience was very good. I got the car that I booked and the return experience was quick and easy.
Cons: The check in employee was slow moving and a bit detached.

Pros: counter staff friendly car good
Cons: misinformation re: bridge and toll package. it is an outrageous price if renting for a week. was not informed that in the event I did not have a EZ pass and went through a toll booth without a change/cash option, I could call the toll authority and pay fee that way.

Wait to get car was too long
Cons: After waiting 20 minutes in line with only four people in line and two clerks who where VERYslow. Watched six people in thrifty get processed while I waited. Finally just went to Thriftyand rented from them.

Great service, poor automobile and pickup procedur
Pros: Great pickup personnel at desk and with drop off. The car they gave me was not in the space they told me, it was parked next to it in overflow parking. I got all the way packed, inspected and to the gate before someone told me I was in wrong car. Cost me an hour to get it straightened out.
Cons: See above to start. The car was in poor shape. Banged up rear fender and missing hub cap. It had almost 31,000 miles on it.

Great Car, Great Pickup, Weak Pricing, Weak Dropof
Pros: Tammy at the Newark rental counter was quick, clear, and explanatory. The car was amazing: new, clean, and perfect for the roads in and around Newark.
Cons: The pricing of these cars is fraudulent. Getting a real price is almost impossible because of the taxes and fees associated with the cars. A $100.00 rental will cost almost $200.00 without your adding and conveniences at all. Also, dropoff in the early morning is somewhat spooky. This day the computers were down, so I had to trust the attendant, not dressed any uniform, that i would be sent a receipt. I did get an emailed receipt, but I dint like the situation in the darkness of EWR.

Pros: Very good value for the money. They also offered me a Toyota Prius, which is uncommon with car rental companies
Cons: Very few people available to help both when I picked up the car from the lot and also when the car was being dropped off. I had to walk inside the car rental center to find an agent on drop-off. There was a lady named Ashley who was very helpful once we found her! Lastly, there was a wrapper in the car on pick-up, which I missed on initial inspection.

Pros: Overall service
Cons: drop off fee from Newark, NJ to JFK, NY and the car had Virginia plates....unclear why there would be a drop off fee in this situation and it was not listed in the Kayak quote

High pressure upselling tactics
Pros: Initial price
Cons: High pressure to sell add ons to rental bill. Car was dirty inside and out, attendant had an attitude when I dropped the car off.
