Cons: Would not accept debit card or cash, only credit cards. I had no idea of about this until i went to pick the truck up. I rented a truck from avis instead and had a great experience.

no hidden fees or obligatory extra insurance, they accept your credit card included insurance which has been a big issue before with other car rental companies.

Easy rental, great customer service
Pros: I like that Alamo does not hassle me about insurance and upgrades. I've been harassed and insulted by other car rental companies at Austin-Bergstrom about upgrades, so it's really nice that when I say "no thank you", the person at the Alamo counter says "no problem!", and that's the end of it and I'm on my way with the car. This fact alone keeps me going back to Alamo.
The car itself was in great condition and I had no problems with it.

Pros: The lady who helped me pick up the car and modify the rental agreement at the ALAMO counter was incredibly helpful and kind.
The car was generally clean but there was some nasty stuff down under the seats.

Car not ready to rent
Cons: Car had a low tire, i had to put air in. No washer fluid, very scary. Smelled in cabin. Less then half a tank of fuel on pick up.

Pros: The car was clean. The check-in and check-out were very simple quick.
Cons: The way the driver's seat was configured, I had to sit too low and there was no apparent way to adjust the seat height.
Pros: The friendliness and repectful demeanour of all staff I had contact with as well as the pricing for the vehicle.
Cons: They didn't have the car I reserved. Instead of upgradi MG me they sold me an upgrade that did not meet my passenger's needs. Although they did givr me another car after I complained about the size, it ended up being a huge suv. After returning the car I was called about an owed balance. The agent calling had no informatuon as to why I owed but still tried to get my permission while unforming me I could call customer service if I had any questions about their blunder. After declining her request to charge me ahe had a manager call who did resolve the issue but has yet to send me an e receipt for the numerous chargea and refunds that she had explained to me during our call. It's been over 7 business days.

Did not have the reserved rental or equivalent ava
Cons: I had reserved a ford Mustang Convertible for an entire week for use during a wedding. When I arrived at the counter, they did not have the reserved car due to "mechanical issues". On top of that, they did not have any other vehicles of the same type. They tried to offer me a 4-door sedan, but there was a very particular reason I had reserved the convertible. I was forced to walk down to a competitor's kiosk to rent the same car. I find this very unprofessional and I do not recommend FOX in any way shape for form to anyone visiting the Austin area.

Poor customer service policies
Cons: Our plans changed so my husband ended up traveling alone. Unfortunately I had made the reservation and they refused to let him pick up the PRE-PAID rental. Had no choice but to make another reservation at all different agency and kiss my money good-bye.
Very good except hard sell for insurance, no trunk
Pros: Timely, friendly staff. Car in very good condition. Easy return.
Cons: Hard sell at check out for insurance marred what was otherwise a very positive experience.
Our rental vehicle didn't have an enclosed trunk (it was a Nissan Versa), which seems a bad choice for a rental fleet vehicle. Didn't cause any real problems, but did require us to change our plans one day to avoid having to leave luggage visible in the car.

Pros: This part of the review doesn't make sense. Needs an n/a button. The drop off was easy, orderly, and friendly. They helped me make sure that I wasn't charged extra because of the delay in getting the car to me.

Pros: The vehicle was clean inside. Paperwork was quick.
Cons: The vehicle had several major dents and scratches. I was charged an additional $40 than the prepaid purchase for "taxes and additional fees." That's over 50% of the original quote. I didn't like how they told me to pick a car from the lot and mark the paper for damages myself then drive it to the gate to have them reinspect it again.

Bad service and upsells galore
Pros: Clean and comfortable and in good working order
Cons: They had me dropping off in the wrong state and charged me 150 dollars more to drop off in Austin. Customer service people were not helpful and angry. Vehicle was not a full size SUV as requested. Had indicated I wanted insurance when reserving but was told it wasn't included. Additional fees to add drivers. Ended up being 1130 dollars for 4 days. Online estimate was 760.

Hertz welcomes modesty
Pros: We needed a car for 5 days between Austin and San Antonio. Our budget allowed us to rent a compact only. The Hertz people were very understanding and supportive. They gave us the permission to select a compact car from 20 available models.
