Pros: We were upgraded to an SUV, which turned out to be very helpful in the snow.
Cons: We had to have a second driver for the rental return. It would've been nice to just swap drivers rather than pay extra for a second.

Charged me 190.00 extra at the door. Will never use you or them again.
Pros: Easy dropoff.
Cons: I got insurance on your website. Then, they said we didnt have insurance and that we had to buy it. That more than doubled the price and I will never use Kayak or Hertz again. You both have poor business models. Bait and switch doesn't work.

Cons: Car was ok, but somehow the reservation needed me to pick up the car at a DT location and the Hertz counter girl wouldn't budge without doubling the price.

Kayak needs to do a better job...
Cons: Kayak automatically suggested a city-based rental facility as opposed to airport-based rental facility. This was fine as the Salt Lake City Hertz facility is close to the airport. However, my flight was delayed by an hour and I arrived at Hertz @ 5:37pm. Neither Kayak or Hertz informed me that the city-based facility actually closes at 5:30pm. It was only luck that one of the Hertz employees was still working then and allowed me to pick up my car. My trip could have easily been a disaster otherwise.

Pros: The customer service guys were doing everything they could, but it was not enough.
Cons: 1. I arranged to pick the car up at noon. The location closed at noon. That was a Saturday. Of course, the location was closed Sunday. That delayed our initial trip by two days. Good thing we were able to be creative and flexible, but what a headache. I had to pick the car up on Monday. 2. I arranged for an SUV. I needed 4WD. The SUV we got didn't have 4WD. Fortunately, the roads were clear. 3. The computer in the car was super annoying. 4. There was no flexibility in drop off time or location change. This was the least convenient location for me. 5. The wait time to get the car was over an hour. Wow. I pre-paid and feel that my car should have been ready much sooner.

Worst: no car
Cons: worst experience with a car company. They could not provide a car and after calling customer service 3 times I had to go with another car company at the last minute. I could go online and book a car but they would not provide me a car with my reservation

Cons: When I turned a car in, I was supposed to fill it up to the three - quarters mark because that is how it was given to me. However you cannot gauge when you hit the three-quarters make and thus I ended up filling the tank. This has happened twice in the last two Hertz rentals. You are given a car with a three-quarter tank and end up giving it back with a full tank because you can't tell when you have hit the mark. This is an intentionally designed gimmick by Hertz to reap the benefits of free gas. GO MORE RENTALS FORM HERTZ 1

Cons: Customer service was incredibly slow (approx. 45 minutes) when I picked up the car on a Sunday night around 8:00 pm.

Very Friendly Staff but OVERCHARGED...
Pros: The staff was extremely nice and helpful, very friendly!! Our car had great gas mileage..
Cons: Our car did not have cruise control....We were driving 6 hours to Vegas, yes not a super long drive but I have never EVER rented a vehicle from any company that did not have cruise control. We had issues leaving Vegas and returned it one day late. The original charge for our 4 day trip was 68$......I have now been charged an ADDITIONAL 160$.....I can't even get a hold of Hertz because they are closed on Saturdays....A NATIONAL RENTAL COMPANY CLOSED ON SATURDAY??? never again, complete B.S.

Not sure I'll rent from Hertz again...
Pros: The vehicle was very clean and the drop off was very easy!
Cons: Customer service at pick up was marginal. We could barely understand the gentleman's English and they seemed to have nothing but Kia vehicles (not my favorite). We upgraded to a "better" vehicle since snow was in the forecast. No passenger side adjustments for the seat so my 85 year-old father had to basically sit on the floor of the vehicle while peaking out the front window. The lot was full of Ford Explorers but I guess none for us since we didn't rent directly with Hertz -- at least that's how I felt once the customer service person saw we rented through Kayak. :( Love Kayak, not sure about Hertz anymore.

Pros: The agent tried working with me even though the reservation online was screwed up.
Cons: When I ordered the car I only selected SLC airport. I thought everything was fine, but when I got to the counter they said my reservation was at an offsite location. They did work with me after speaking with a supervisor, but said I was the fourth person that day that had the same issue. I consider myself fairly tech savvy, didn't puck up on the off site location when I set up the reservation. Also, this is more on Hertz, but they tried to get me to pay for a cracked window. When I got the car it had damage on the frame from the drivers side window, back to the passangers side. It was marked with stickers, so I assumed it was all recorded. The window was also cracked. But when I returned they said the crack was new. I refuse to pay for damage that was caused before I picked up the car. I had to fill out an incident report and noted the same thing as here.

Pros: Reserved an economy and it was available. We wanted fuel economy and got it.
Cons: Didn't realized didn't have cruise control until we left. Assumed all rentals had cruise. Our fault for not checking before leaving.

Long lines...wasted money....poor service
Cons: Waited 20 minutes in line only to be told that my rental was downtown not the airport. No problem normally but Hertz offered to get me a car at the airport for three times the cost of my rental. No effort was made to genually accommodate me even though I needed the car for two hours for non profit work. I cancelled my reservation and was abruptly told they would keep my money. I never saw the car that I was charged for so I can't review it. You'd have to ask whoever drove it. I won't be using Hertz again. I only rent two to three times a month so I know it won't matter. You wanted my review....there it is.

Hertz couldn't find pre paid insurance info
Pros: Rep was nice. Kia Sportage AWD drove well in snow
Cons: Prepaid insurance could not be found. Hertz wanted us to pay additional insurance so we cancelled pre paid and used Hertzs. This added 30 minutes to the check in

Car rental was for a non-airport location.
Cons: I ended up paying full price since the rental was not at the airport. I had no intention of renting off-site, but I apparently missed the fine print. This is a first for me. Be sure and read carefully.

No car available
Cons: When we arrived at 11pm on Saturday at Utah airport we were informed kayak sent our request to a different location. Not only was that location closer but it was also closed Sunday. When asked if we could change that to airport location we were told 1)no car available 2)wouldn't honour kayak rate. Fortunately other renters in airport (Thrifty and Dollar) both offered to help us out.

Cons: we paid for the car before we picked it up and when we picked it up expecting to pay the tax hertz charged us an addition deposit without any warning or notice we always do this was their reply they only addressed it after i discovered it they returned it after four days as they said then when i got home they charged me tax and a deposit again returning it all after i discovered it take hertz out of the equation and the trip was amazing so the price was increditable the value sucked give me Enterprise anytime never a surprise never have to check me charges but thanks to hertz i will

Cons: Overall experience was good. But I feel I was charged more than I expected. I had booked for a compact car for a week from Hertz at South main st, SLC. At the time of online booking I was charged a total of $154.68 (as per receipt) including taxes for a compact car(Nissan versa or similar). But at the time of pick up I was told that I have been charged the base price($126) and car available for compact would be Ford fiesta. On contrary to what was mentioned in receipt, I had to pay more. Moreover I had NO choice of cars to pick from. There was no option left for me but to pay more and get my reservation upgraded and I ended up paying $205 instead. I felt it was not right to charge an amount while booking and come up something another while pick-up. Moreover the cars available weren't washed and we were expected to pick-up an unwashed car. So we had to wait again for it to be washed. My previous experiences with car rentals were always smoother than this and I have always had many options to pick car from. So I wasn't happy this time. Another point to be noted was, at the time of car rental lookout I saw pick-up available at Hertz SLC airport and while reserving/booking the car I wasn't given that option. Instead I had to travel from airport to downtown to pick the car. That added to our inconvenience as well.

Even though car was reserved, no car was available
Cons: I reserved a car over a week out. When we showed up at the counter, they said no car was available period. When a car was available the next day that was not a subcompact, they made us pay for an upgrade.

They took my reservation but had no car for me
Pros: I have nothing good to say, this was a terrible experience.
Cons: A car rental company exists for the sole purpose of renting cars. Hertz exhibited overwhelming incompetence by accepting my reservation and providing me with a confirmation number, only to inform me that there were no cars available when I arrived for pickup. They are much better at taking reservations than they are at holding reservations and backing them with real live cars. They didn't bother to notify me that they had no cars so I could make alternate plans. I had to take my wife and older parents on a 1+ hour train ride to another car rental company to get a car.

Pros: Hertz at the airport came through for me after Kayak failed me. The honored my price when they certainly didn't have to.
Cons: Kayak allowed me to rent a car with a 1200 Saturday pickup, the only problem Hertz Downtown closes at 1200 on Saturday.

Pros: We realized we needed the car an extra day, and wanted to drop it off at the airport instead of the Hertz in town. We were able to get the extra day and drop off changed, which was nice.
Cons: The staff at the Hertz in town were a little unpleasant. However the gentleman at the airport was very professional and pleasant to work with.
