The best rental experience ever!!
Pros: Pick up was easy & fast. Car was easy to locate. We rented a bigger car because we had a lot of driving ahead of us. Car was clean & comfortable. Drop off was easy. Would definitely rent from Thrifty again.

bumper cover is loose/damaged, not able to drive more than 55 miles
Cons: I have to get off the car on Interstate freeway for 10 times in my long distance driving, result in 2+ hours extra driving time from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas
Jul 15 2017
Cons: There apparently was a shortage of cars despite a reservation made four months ago. Pick up involved completing paperwork then waiting (20 minutes plus) for a car to appear. Counter staff wasted time tracking down customers who had wandered off while waiting for a car to appear.

Pros: Seamless drop-off
Jul 8 2017
Pros: Price was awesome, and got a free upgrade since they ran out of my selected car.
Cons: Longer wait in line than other vendors. They didnt ask IF i wanted insurance, but which insurance did I want. I already have personal full auto so i declined. This seemed a bit predatory but they backed off when i said neither.

Child seat was a problem. Car was great.
Pros: The car and price was fantastic.
Cons: The child seat I reserved in advance wasn't available when we picked the car up. My daughter ended up in a smaller seat than she should have been.

More than doubled the price upon pickup
Cons: I booked the car online for $85, but after we cliamed it I received a receipt for more than double the price - $180. I tried contacting the customer service since but received no reply. Complete thieves! I cannot believe how the standards dropped, there are many other companies out there that offer way better service and prices.

Pros: Good SUV for taking 5 people over 2,200 miles over 9 days
Cons: The car smelled of cigarette smoke as did the person who dropped it off. The car was not clean and the following day we took it to a car wash in order to formally clean it inside and out. There appears to be an attempt for the representatives to tack on insurance without explaining to the renter that this can be declined.

Cons: We made our reservations 3+ months in advance. When arriving in Salt Lake City, we waited in line 45 minutes with two, sometimes three people behind the counter. We had to deal with a very unfriendly person behind the counter and then had to wait an additional 25 minutes for a car to be available. We were not offered a map at the counter. Fortunately, there were maps available at the counter in the garage because there was no staff person available.

Bait and Switch
Pros: I got off the lot in time for my meetings
Cons: I had reserved a mid-sized car. When I arrived at the time I had indicated I would pick up I was told that there were no cars available and that I was to be given a Yaris not the Nissan Juke (or similar) on the picture. Being over 6ft tall and planning to travel 2500 miles in 10 days a Yaris would not do. The only way off the lot in time was to upgrade to a Yukon. So for an extra $20 / day and $100 more in gas that was the only option. I will not be back.

Pros: The Nissan rogue SUV was a great price. The vehicle was also great to drive.
Cons: We picked our car up Sunday night about 10:45 PM. There was no one at the counter and we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to show up. When we went out to pick up our car no one accompanied us to verify any existing damage to the vehicle. We had to go back to the counter inside to report the findings of our inspection.

Great car; watch out for counter upsells
Pros: Our car was a GMC Yukon XL with only about 8,000 miles. Great car! Price was reasonable.
Cons: We booked a Nissan Armada (or similar), but was offered a Ford Expedition with 30,000 miles. Uh, what universe is an Armada similar to an Expedition?? Maybe in passengers, but man, not the same quality and drive at all. The desk agent said if I paid $80 for the prepaid fuel, he would waive the $40 per day upcharge. I took the deal. He then offered me a Cadillac Escalade for only $100 extra per day! Umm, no thanks. And then came the guilt trip insurance which was HUGELY expensive. I passed on all options, but felt major pressure to buy some.

Check the tires!!
Pros: The manager at the SLC location was very understanding and made a price adjustment per my phone call to headquarters regarding the bald tires on the front
Cons: The manager at SNA sent us out with an illegal and dangerous car with 2 front bald tires!

Super easy return
Pros: Super easy return at Salt Lake City airport, with clear signage all the way. Right on site, which meant no shuttle or anything, just a short walk to the terminal.
May 22 2017
Cons: Thrifty advertised their luxury car as a BMW or equivalent . received an Altima. Having driven both - not even close to the luxury car I was expecting for the price.

Great value, comfortable ride
Pros: Drop off was easy and staff were friendly
Cons: Only suggestion would be clearer signage for where to drop off the car.

Pros: Originally the rental said off-site and ride a shuttle to get the car but we were able to secure the rental across the street from the ticketing building at the airport and the cars were right there in the building. That was a welcome surprise. The counter folks did try to make sure that you knew the benefits of all the other options that could be purchased that I had not selected but I stuck to my original plan and got the good rate that I booked through KAYAK.
Cons: When we rented the car, the desk agents could not assure us that the car's trunk would have a doughnut tire or a spare as on board equipment. But we checked that first to be sure that there was one since we were going to be traveling 1100 miles and no where near the airport where we rented the car and Thrifty was located. There were no floor mats but this was an economy car. Everything worked as it should but on the mountain passes there was not much oomph in our little Nissan Versa.

Cons: Incredibly slow counter

Charged almost 3x than what we booked for
Cons: Our final invoice was for almost 3x the amount we originally booked for on your website.
Feb 13 2017
Pros: Excellent customer service. Had to exchange our vehicle due to a wet spot on the back seat. Thrifty was polite and accommodating. Also left my phone in the vehicle at drop off. Thrify employees went above and beyond to retrieve it with a smile!
Feb 13 2017
Cons: Alignment issue pulled car to right at all times at highway speed.
Feb 12 2017
Cons: I found someone else's toenail clippings on the driver side floor mat and a clear plastic wrapper in the back seat - other than that, the rental was great.

Pros: Very nice well equipped vehicle!

Pros: Car was fine in the end. Drop off was smooth and quick.
Cons: When you specifically reserve a SUV in ski country, you assume it will be a AWD. Pick up agent did manage to get us one but only after lots of arguing and waiting.

Pros: Counter was extremely efficient, friendly, great directions and other helpful hints. Return was easy and uncomplicated.
Cons: The car was rather rough riding and noisy.

Wrong Size car at extortionate rate.
Pros: Openness and friendly staff. Competent.
Cons: The car I booked on line I paid more than $2,500 dollars for 6 days hire. I needed a big car as I was going to be responsible for ferrying 6 skiers and equipment. I was supplied with a "standard sized SUV" which was a dodge. This car had 8 seats but no luggage space. Nothing bigger was available. I spent all Christmas holiday driving and ferrying 2 loads of people around and had no time to ski myself. Thank you "Thrifty" for ruining mine and my wife's skiing holiday. Many arguments resulted as a consequence. $400 a day?? I could have rented 4 Toyota Camrys for the same price. Very disappointed with your premium prices at this time of year which I understand are driven by peak demand but if I pay such a premium price I don't expect "that's all I've got. Take it or leave it." Also desk tried to sell me additional extra superfluous insurance after I had already bought full coverage via your website. Their excuse was that the policy I bought via your website was not Thrifty so they didn't know if I was covered or not for what they were trying to sell. When I insisted we review the policy together they quickly apologized.

Will book with Budget instead
Pros: The car was fine, but not really good enough for the weather. The lady who checked us in was really nice.
Cons: The price I paid was much more than what was quoted on Kayak, there were more fees added in when I arrived. This never seems to happen with Budget. I won't rent from the cheapest option again bc it ends up being more.
Nov 13 2016
Pros: The car was pretty good.
Cons: The Salt Lake City Thrifty office tried to give cars inferior to what I selected online and it took a long while to get the one I wanted. Dropping of a car in California cost a lot, disproportionate to the total price.

Fairly easy but slightly sketchy
Pros: Like all car rental places you just park the car and take your receipt.
Cons: The guy basically accused me of damages to the car (minor scratches) that were there when I picked up the car (I took pictures as proof when I got the car). The whole ordeal makes me feel like thrifty is trying to get as much money as they can from me.
Sep 28 2016
Pros: Value for money
Cons: Unfriendly counter person at Salt Lake city who attempted to bamboozle us into buying excessive insurance. I understand the game but at least it could have done with a little more finesse.

Ask for a van and was put in something smaller
Pros: The price
Cons: Didn't get what I booked

Company has hidden charges and manipulates you to
Cons: Not very happy with rental. Was charged $65 to add my husband as an additional driver and was not told there was such fee. Got forced into getting at least the minimal insurance coverage when I mentioned to the agent I got full coverage through Allstate and he acted like he didn't know that insurance company. After the 3rd day of driving the car the check engine oil light came on. We were not able to drive it to Four Corners because we were concerned it might have maintenance issues on our drive.

Am I the only one who got great service?
Pros: I was so worried about this location, based on the reviews, that I had a backup car rental and plane reservation. I needed a one way from SLC to Cody WY. Thrifty was 1/3 the price of anyone else. Our flight was to SLC was delayed 5 1/2 hours and they were out of full size sedans so they gave us a nearly new (3,000 miles) Toyota Sienna van, which was an excellent vehicle, for the same price. Yeah, it could have been a tad cleaner on the inside, every cup holder had some sugary drink goo on it but other than that it was very clean. The wait at the counter wasn't any longer than usual and the two clerks were working as quickly as they could and dealing with one unpleasant fellow, but I thought they did a good job of trying to appease this jerk and get to us. The van got outstanding mileage, it was a way better touring vehicle than a sedan, the drop off at Cody was at 5:45 a.m. before the counter opened. I just got the bill and the charges were exactly as quoted.
Jul 26 2016
Pros: It got us where we needed to go. Amazing price.
Cons: Beat up, dirty, cheap.
Jul 25 2016
Pros: The return process was very fast and professional despite the fact that there were probably 6 cars being returned at the same time.
