Pros: It was a bait and switch. Didn't have the type that I reserved and sold me something for $20 more a day...

Great value option at slc.
Pros: Cars located on airport, actually uses Avis cars which were clean and nice.
Cons: Only 1 person to process rentals so it could take a while if people are ahead of you.

Go to a reputable car rental
Pros: The Mitsubishi SUV did not do well in heavy snow conditions so they let me exchange for a KIA AWD without hassle
Cons: When I did the exchange I was told to bring the Mitsubishi car back with a full tank of gas, which I did. When I returned the 2nd car with a full tank I was charged for 2 tanks of gas and they have not reversed the charges yet. So far I am paying for 4 tanks of gas and am not happy:(

rented a good/clean reliable car in good price. .
Pros: good value and least hassle.
Cons: may need more representatives on the desk.

Great value, fast and easy.
Pros: Good price, courteous staff, dealt with problems/requests quickly
Cons: I arrived early and they tried to give me an SUV when I reserved an economy. The clerk didn't even inform me of this until I went out and saw the car. At least when I went back, he searched around and found me a car within Avis that had just returned that had better gas mileage.

Good car, just a couple of issues with dropoff at
Cons: There was no one at the Payless office during the dropoff. I was eventually helped by someone from Avis. Car exterior was clean, but needed to be vacuumed inside.

Pros: Decent car, clean, ready to go
Cons: Attendant at the desk was constantly trying to upsell us, didn't have keys at hand for the car, disappeared into another room to finally get us key.

Got a compact for an intermediate price
Cons: We reserved an intermediate car, but they gave us a compact Ford Focus. When we returned the car, they gave us a refund and charged us the compact rate.

Pros: The manager, Jordan, was very nice, calm and helpful.
Cons: Hamzdah was awful, yelled at me, lied to me about being the manager and offered no helpful solutions. He made me feel very uncomfortable.

Pros: Normal/standard service
Cons: Payless pre-charged me on a full tank of gas without notice. I only drove 62 miles- probably used up 2 to 3 gallons of gas. But I could not get a credit on the gas I did not use. Saying that it was standard and I pre-paid for it. I am not happy with their level of professionalism. It is confusing and deceiving.

Pros: Car performed well and was clean
Cons: I had to wait three hours for a car, as they were oversold, then had to accept a lesser car than contracted for.

Cons: no car available at pickup. Had one within two hours. told clerk i did not want gas option, he charged me anyway.

Over charge poor customer service
Cons: The car remotes did not work at all. When I returned the car to Avis as directed for some reason they didn't have my vehicle on file. So I had to go talk to the desk people. No one was at the Payless window. Had to deal with Avis whom informed me Payless was closed. They photocopied my receipt and gave me the Payless number if any issues were to happen. There was a issue. I called the number given to me and that is on the website. With no answer after calling multiple times. Finally got a hold of customer service through another number. The Issue Payless took a $200 deposit for the vehicle that should have been returned. When I checked my online statement it showed a Payless transaction returning my money. Everything appeared to be going right. Checked my bank account the next day. Instead of charging me $64 and returning my $200. They double charged me taking $540 out of my account. When I asked customer service why. The guy said I don't know. And that another department will email me in 48 hours to tell me when I'll receive my return. Now waiting to hear when I'll get a return. With my bank account drained.

Cons: Even with a reservation, when i showed up there were no cars available. I was told it would be at least an hour until any cars arrived. However, there was a list that was being taken and i would have been #18. Who knows when I would receive a car. Very disappointing and very expensive experience.

Pros: The price was higher than I had expected it to be, but cheaper than other rentals and I was able to pick it up at the airport which was a big plus. The customer service at the airport for pickup and return was great.
Cons: The car was okay, but it had no power. It kind of scared me when I was driving it because I would press on the gas pedal and it would hesitate for a minute before it would go. Other than that it was okay.

Great with exception of drop off
Pros: Most of the more economical rental companies required shuttles. This was at airport. No line for pick up, which I loved, but only one rep so would've been long if others were there. Car was as expected. Felt new. A few more miles than most rentals but worth the savings.
Cons: They share services with Avis. For it to be "Payless", they save staff by not having anyone out in the garage. So upon return, unlike most rental companies where there's someone there to receive the return and give you a receipt, I had to go back to counter in terminal. Upon arriving at counter, there was no rep there. Waited five minutes and no one came. Just had to leave receipt on the counter.

Layover: rent a car and drive to Park city
Pros: Great use of 6 hours.
Cons: The rental guy told me after I payed for the reservation that they Will call Or text Within an hour for the rental and he did not . I have to be the one going to the rent desk again and asking for it. Not very friendly customer service either. But good enough to enjoy 6 hours in Park City in a ford fiesta.

Good car, bad service, sneaky price
Pros: Appropriate car for his region
Cons: The quoted price did not include over $300 in "fees." The pickup process was awful. The Avis employee could not speak much English, this was his first day on the job, and he was not being supervised. I was initially told that my reserved SUV was not available and asked if my family of 5 could use a pickup truck instead. I had to get rude and argue for my reservation to be properly fulfilled by him finding an SUV somewhere..

Cons: Don't rent from Payless in SLC. I reserved a car for pick up when they said they'd be open but when I got to the counter no one was working. Ended up having to get a rental at the neighbouring counter at four times what I was thought I'd get from Payless just so I could get out of the airport. Complete waste of time and rip off; will never rent from Payless again

They charge up front for fuel
Pros: The little Chevy was pretty good. 1.4 Turbo.
Cons: The guy at the desk didn't ask me if I wanted to fill up the car when I brought it back. He automatically charged my card for $29 for fuel. I'll never use Payless again.

Cons: No front ports to charge your phone. Could not find trunk release other than key fab.

Pros: The car has high milage
Cons: I waited for more than an hour to get my car, I have been trying to call the manager at Salt Lake City airport for five weeks without success, they don't snswer a phone call, I'm expecting $30 back because I returned my Car tank full.

Hidden Gas Charge
Cons: They automatically charge you for a full tank of gas, letting you know that if you fill up the tank they will take the charge off, but if you arrive at hours when no one is there, they don't take the charge off and one has to go through many gyrations to get the charge off.

Pros: It was easy to drop and pick up the car.
Cons: The insurance they offer is very very expensive and if you do not take it, it is your responsibility to take care of any problem for the car.

Great price and nice car.was an excellent value.
Pros: Staff did a good job. Car was excellent. Hours they are open are not as extensive as main brands. Value for my dollar was great.
