it location was OK they claim to have parking, NOT! they only have 7 spaces on a first come first serve basis. the hotel pictures must be from another hotel, there are no photos that match the hotels, it is rundown, dirty, my room was so small my son and I had to take turns moving around and you had to leave the door open in the bathroom to use it. the sink was the size of a salad bowl. ridiculous!! the staff were rude, there is no place to park while you check in, and no where near the hotel to park for a reasonable fee. I'd never stay here again.
Convenience to the beach and associated activities Many items dI'd not work such as TV and controller, lobby printer, shower head.
Decor was nice. Don't stay here. Pay the extra cost for a clean hotel. There were bugs in the shower. The bathroom was so small I couldn't turn around without bumping into the door. There was a raid repellant device on the floor. There were also bugs crawling across the bedroom floor. After checking in to the hotel I got in the shower. As soon as The water was on bugs just started crawling out the drain and from top of the ceiling. I counted at least 6 and took pictures of each. I got out immediately and saw another critter scurry across the bedroom floor. I went to check out immediately. The hotel offered to "waive" the amount for the next two nights but refused to refund the first night since I had checked in already. Absolutely ridiculous. I was there less than 2hrs before discovering the bugs and immediately leaving. I wound up booking a hotel that was twice the cost because I was stranded without a clean place to stay.
Hotel is in close proximity to the beach and hotel staff is very friendly. The price is a good value compared to other fancy hotels. Hotel parking is limited. Even with a confirmed hotel reservation, had to wait until the 2nd day to park at the hotel. Parking options are limited and very expensive.
Price, free breakfast/coffee and location. Staff friendly and helpful. Bathroom size. 1 elevator.
Hotel had proximity to the beach. I wouldn't have hated this place were it not misleadingly advertising. I HATE feeling like a hotel is trying to trick me, as I don't trust them afterwards. Our room was nothing like it was pictured. The mattresses were on the floor, the shower was falling apart, the room had no space to move, and the wifi didn't work. They tacked on fees for things we didn't use and refused to upgrade us to the room that was advertised, even after I offered to pay more for it. Won't stay again and can't recommend until they learn to advertise honestly.
1 block from beach Bathroom beyond small. Not very modern. $25 a day to park.
I gave a really good discription of what went down on our trip while we stayed at the Waikiki Hilton village resort - I think staff could work harder on smiling and trying to provide excellent service.
Great hotel, great location, clean
I really wanted to love this hotel. When you walk in the main floor is setup with several leather like couches, hammock chairs, LCD TV, 2 computers and printer, tea and coffee available all day with a modern look. Friendly faces at the counter doing their best. My low score reflects the several attempts I made to resolve issues on our week stay where the staff and management failed. (1) The staff seem ill prepared to answer questions about the area. It is my expectation that the hotel should have some ideas about the restaurants and attractions in their area. Many AIRBNB hosts have lists of places and instructions to get there. In our case we asked about a place 2 blocks and 7 minutes away (Marukame Udon restauarant) highly rated on Yelp. The two people could not figure out how to get there even thought they knew it was always busy. Ended up finding our way there. (2) When we used the shower for the first time we noticed the shower head was not fully turning on (RM 407 I believe). Hot water was going to the head and very little cold water. A third of the water flowed through the tap. We reported this 3 times to the front desk. The third time i went up to the room with maintenance person and demonstrated the issue. I was nicely told that they could not do anything about this. It was known by maintenance that the fixture were old. There was no concern that someone could get scalded from hot water. (3) Room cleaning service was poor. The sink and bathrub were never cleaned the week I was there. I ended up cleaning it myself as their were bits of paint flaking off and the sink was not draining correctly. As far as I could tell towels were changed, garbage were emptied and beds made. No change when i left sign out to clean. Finally I did ask twice to talk to a manager about my experience (first attempt 3 days before i left). No one contacted me. Our last day I got an e-mail asking for feedback. As a result I posted this review. I am disappointed that staff did not block this room so it could be repaired and provided another. My advice when booking here is that you fully inspect the room. I've never had to be this detailed before as I expect some common sense by the hotel. But in this case they are just filling rooms. Also keep in mind that you are behind the Hyatt and you will here all kinds of noise starting from 3-4 am. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g60982-d2385826-r430926391-Stay_Hotel_Waikiki-Honolulu_Oahu_Hawaii.html#
That the hotel was In Hawaii that's it. Everything all of there photos are doctored it's a dirty hostile type hotel no amenities no room service or food pump dispenser soap and shampoo in the bathrooms. The Windows do not close they are slotted so you hear all of the trash collectors and anything going on outside. The place is horrible.
The outside is very decieving from the inside. The outside looks not at all impressive and very motel like. Its seems run down and very low class. But when you step inside i was impressed by the all white room and furniture. There was one bed for two, a futon for two, plus a foldup rolling mattress. I also liked the mini fridge as well. The lobby looks very high class and sophistic. There was a lack of an iron & ironing board which I deem as a standard supply object in a hotel room. The place could also use a microwave as well.
Minutes to Waikiki, only steps to scooter, motorcycle & car rentals! Kuhio is a very noisy street, even 5 floors up it was still incredibly noisy! I was surpprised to find roaches in the kitchenette of such a nice hotel!
That we had an upgrade because of our honeymoon.
Very shabby interior, from the bedroom to the bathroom. Looked like much if the work had been done by a non professional. This place really has the feel of a cheap, run down motel rather than a hotel as advertised. It would have been depressing to stay here for more than one night as a stopover point. Only bright spot is that the staff were great, accommodating, and very helpful.
Nice staff, perfect location and clean room.
I like the small size of the hotel which makes it a bit more personal and less commercial as big hotels. The room itself is very clean although the hotel building itself is dated. A very minor point, the elevators could use some renovations. They run efficiently but the decor could use a face lift.
beakfast was a joke. housekeeping ineffective not according to standards
Location and spaciousness of the room. Very noisy airconditioning which in effect meant you couldn't use it while in the room.
Very friendly and helpful staff, very nice room. $12 parking right next door, extremely convenient for going to Waikiki beach. One long block from the Duke Kahanmoku statue which is dead center on the beach. Good Mexican restaurant called La Cucaracha along the way that was semi- reasonable. Street side second floor room was very noisy from traffic and people on sidewalk. Breakfast was muffin, oranges, and orange juice. But they let you have all you wanted.
The location is nice, cheap, and nice staff. There's an awful smell in the room I could barely breathe.. I checked out of the room the next morning, and I'm actually really glad I did even if I'm paying twice the amount for this hotel. I'm sorry I'm saying all this because the staff were nice, but it was just unbearable...
My three traveling companions and I had a great stay at the Aqua Bamboo! We were quite pleased with the rooms, the daily continental breakfast, the friendly staff, the location, and the price. We were impressed with the roominess of our rooms and apprecitated the kitchenettes. We loved relaxing by the pool. I would recommend the hotel, and I would certainly stay there again. I'd like the MSNBC network to be available on the hotel TV.
The hotel's location, the helpful staff, and facilities in the room The elevators need updating
The kitchenette room, very clean and comfortable beds. Friendly staff, free healthy breakfast/fruits/newspapers, free room high speed internet connection and great location to all accesses Can be safety trip hazard to people in or out from the main door access if loading and unloading baggages/surf gears/golf set from a car parked just infront of the main door. Also to avoid keeping too much luggagges close to the lift area
Comfortable, clean room with wifi, kitchenette, nice large tv and good cable. Very helpful staff, whirlpool tub, and I can't say enough about how well I slept on the bed it was more comfortable than my own. This hotel is close to som small restaurants mostly Asian and very good. The area around seems safe and I did not have any problems while out late for a walk but there are quite a few homeless around. The Internet could be a bit faster, I had some streaming issues but no other problems or gripes.
Hot tub and pool
We met up with Collins, whom we have known for a decade. He always takes good care of us!! The parking arrangements.
If you are meeting for business around the area it's ok. Unclean surroundings including hallways, elevators and surrounding area. Lobby is not well lighted, escalators were not all working, front desk clerks are lukewarm and unfriendly, parking is confusing, unsafe hallways as there was a big electric fan that was running and some contrstruction equipment right In front of the room we stayed in that was there the entire day without any sign, warning or precaution. Carpets have that musty and spoiled smell. I
The room was spacious and very clean. It was quiet, which I s surprising, since it is downtown. Staff was polite, efficient and knowledgeable. Also got free parking! The decor is a bit dated, and the building doesn't have balconies. It is on the expensive side. While it was a decent room, I wouldn't have paid the normal 214 a night rate.
Right in downtown area. Puts the traveler right into everyday Honolulu.Comfortable and clean with a "killer" view of Honolulu harbor. Clearly an older, but well maintained property
Perfect location for the St. Pattys block party in downtown Honolulu Parking is $20 a night
It is very apparent that this was restructured. The bathroom had a sliding frosted door that did not lock; the couch area was beyond the beds and it was separated by two sliding doors that were poorly constructed. We had the unfortunate luck of being next to the elevator and ice machine.
We stayed at the Doubletree for 4 nights and had a great experience. The hotel was clean, friendly, and met all of our needs. The location was great, we were within walking distance and bus transportation for many things. The hotel staff was most helpful with shuttles and taxis. Would most definetly stay there again and would recommend it to anyone!
if this is how Honolulu hotels treat guests, it' no wonder the tourist business is flopping. Internet was $10 per day AND TERRIBLE. Valet parking was $29 per day and stopped at 10 pm. So you leave your keys in car and hope a valet gets it and not a drug addict.
Hotel is centrally located, walking distance to many tourist places, beach easily accessible, and close to the depot for various tours.
My wife and I stayed for a week at the Doubletree Waikiki. Overall, the experience was not bad. The biggest disappointment by far was cockroaches. We saw a few, both living and dead. Part of the problem was because we booked through travel website, the hotel put us on the lowest floor, closest to the kitchen. Do the math. My next biggest complaint is really against the Hilton Corporation, not this particular hotel. Because we booked through Travel Website, we were not eligible for Hilton Honors points for the trip. That was really disappointing, as I have been a member for years. The room had a shower, but not a full bath, but we knew that before we went. It wasn't all bad. The manager did give us breakfast coupons to make up for the roaches. The location was nice overall. Waikiki is somewhat like South Beach in Miami. The Doubletree was close enough to the fun things to do, yet far enough away to escape the constant noise and traffic of that main stretch. The hotel pool was small, but fine. The beach was maybe a 10-minute walk away. Overall, I found the Doubletree to be a alright. I'd recommend people do their research, and more importantly, think about what's most important TO YOU. The roaches were gross, and I thank my lucky stars that my wife is not easily flustered by such things. However, the money we saved did allow us to take a day tour of Pearl Harbor and on another day go to the spa. In that sense, it wasn't a bad deal.
The hotel was a big disappointment. Construction was going on directly outside our door with loud drills at 9pm while we were trying to sleep. In addition, there were asphalt grinders working from 7pm-7am doing a complete road resurfacing project the entire week we stayed. Was able to switch rooms but was disappointed in the ''whatever'' attitude of the staff when discussing our experiences with them. Finally, the activity coordinator was not welcoming and didn't appear to either have much knowledge or willingness to help us plan our activities during our stay. Will never stay there again!
The service was very good, very attentive & professional. I was less than impressed with the room. Not very clean, outdated, dirty fingerprints on the door & unbelievably noisy. the street noise kept us up all night. The clerk gave us a 'free upgrade', w/ocean view. You can keep the ocean view, it was definitely a limited view. the upgrade put us right next to elevator & worse yet, the ice machine. why do people need ice at 2 a.m.? it sounded like people were in our room getting ice. will never stay here again. Spent another night at Outrigger Reef on the beach which was much nicer & even cheaper.
My wife, 8-year-old and I stayed here for 8 days in October. Our overall experience was good, but we wouldn't stay at the Alana Doubletree again. This hotel is in good condition. The staff is very kind and courteous. The pool was small, but worked for us. Important note about pool, if you?re looking to sit in the sun, one half of the available patio space and the entire pool are in the shade (of the building) for the entire afternoon. While the hotel is non-smoking, people still disregard the law and the hallways often smell of smoke. The three elevators are microscopic in size but lightning fast. The rooms are also very small. The shower/tub is literally a half tub into which you have to ?climb? (big step). If you?re looking to take a bath, this isn?t the hotel. The only restaurant on the lowest level has a VERY expensive buffet breakfast or normally priced ala carte menu. The big plus of this hotel is that the room rates were half of what the Hawaiian Village was asking. This hotel is also on a very busy street (Ala Moana) so police/fire sirens are very frequent. The location is excellent. . . adjacent to Ft. DeRussy and its beautiful parks. 15 minute walk to the beach. 10 minute walk to the major shopping districts. Next time we?ll look to stay in a hotel that offers a larger more normal sized room.
Thanks Doubletree for a wonderful Hawaiian experience. Your hotel embodies the Aloha spirit. Effectient, friendly staff from the top to the housekeepers. Hotel in a convienent location and is safe. The only concern I have is the hotel will under go renervations this year to be more suite oriented. The problem is I hope they don't raise the room rates so much that I can no longer afford to stay there.
I stayed here one night. I was not impressed. There were apartments which my room overlooked. This did not seem like a good neighborhood and was a long way from the beach. I could see the water in the distance. The lanai is very small. This is an older hotel in need of room upgrading. The bed was not up to Hilton standards by any means. It was not comfortable. Parking was very expensive but the valet got my car immediately when I asked for it. The good points of the room are the frig and microwave, but finding a grocery store in HI is quite a feat. The bathroom had a tub that you have to step up 3 feet to climb into. Not made for arthritic people for sure. For the price you are better off searching closer to the beach.
Walked accross the bathroom this morning at 610 am and my foot crunched on a roach, i turned on the light and counted (no lie) up to thirty bugs. They had no other rooms availible so I packed up and found another place. I had to toss out my toothbrush, combs and brushes. Nasty!
We just got back from a 7-day stay at the Doubletree Hotel Alana. My husband and I were there for a high school basketball tourney. We were offered great rates through the school so we really got a great deal for the quality of our accomodations. I really have nothing but positive things to say. The hotel is going through a renovation - the top 6 floors/lobby had been through the renovation already. I requested a renovated room prior to my arrival, which the hotel was able to accomodate. The room was great - all new decor so it made the stay very comfortable. The front desk staff was wonderful - always friendly and wanting to accomodate my requests. Housekeeping staff was never in our way. The valet guys were friendly and helpful. The location is very accessible to restaurants, the ocean, the bus lines and shopping. The warm cookies (provided at check-in and really any time I asked for one) are awesome. If I had anything negative to say it would have to do with the renovation - the jack hammering for the lower floors could sometimes be heard/felt - we were probably in our rooms more due to 2 days of rain. But the renovations should be over within the next couple of months so that should not be an issue for future travelers. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
The studio is close to Waikiki beach and shopping mall. Very convenient. The room is clean. Need much time to wait for elevators.
It was convenient. Easy to get into and out of. Parking was provided and adequate. The owners were helpful and kind. The elevator. It shook, rattled, and was slow. There are two elevators;one not working.A longtime resident told me it hadn't worked since he'd been there.Thee elevator broke down one evening forcing everyone to use the stairs. Imagine living on Floor 34
Great attentive staff, classic older motel with courtyard pool. Not a destination hotel; but perfect for airport layover. Free shuttle to airport on the half hour; 24 hrs a day. Industrial neighborhood.
The location was good if you need a quick place to stay during a layover and close enough to see Pearl Harbor. Great pressure for the shower. The wifi was terribly slow. Just an ok bed with no extra pillows and blankets. It's close to the airport, so be prepared for airport noise.
Airport shuttle was convenient, otherwise average and did the job for one night
Close to HNL Ok for my purposes
Closer to airport. Pricy for a room, nothing on walking distance
Rooms are small but clean and staff friendly. Restaurant and bar are on property. Best feature close to airport and reliable shuttle service. I'll stay there again
If you get in late and are leaving early for other islands next morning this place works. Pretty bare bones in a kind of light industrial area. Staff were great really. Bar near lobby was quite noisy, we were put in a room as far from the bar as possible. Noise was not a problem, thanks guys.
Staff were so nice and friendly Felt unsafe
great shuttle to airport restaurant economical with large portions staff efficient and friendly economical
We needed a hotel for an early morning flight. They offer free shuttle service so that's convenient. I would recommend it for your quick stays near the airport. Dated, small rooms
Nothing Tiny room with paper thin walls. Disgusting smell, location in "condemned warehouse" section of Honolulu. Sink clogged from the start, sheets stained, hair in shower, etc...
We were looking for a hotel close to the airport since we arrived in at midnight. The check in office is open 24 hours, which was very nice. The hotel was basically supposed to be a crash pad for us and that's essentially what this hotel was set up to be. It had basic amenities, wasn't super spacious, but it had a mini fridge and a bed. The walls were paper thin do you could literally hear everything in the other rooms, who in made sleeping difficult when other guests started waking up. The room was pretty small.
Location is great & service is always good. This is the hotel we like to stay at. The pool area is a bit rundown & the bed was a little saggy but still great overall.
Yhe friendl iness of the staff. I know that the hotel is under construction, but there should be a better aor flow in the hallways and elevators.
Location is not bad, since it's on Waikiki. It was about as cheap as any other hotel I could find on Waikiki. I was in Honolulu for a 22 hr layover and picked Maile Sky Court because all the hostels were booked out. It was one of the cheapest I could find on Waikiki at short notice. I thought I would get a nice view since it's a tower and the wired internet access sounded like a good idea since I had work to do. The view would have been great except the window of my room was so dirty and scratched that you could only see clearly with your face right up against the glass. The wired internet costs $10 for a day and was SO SLOW. I had some work to do and wanted to stream some TV shows afterwards but I ended up tethering my laptop to my phone instead. That's right, the T-mobile cell network was about 10-100x faster than the wired internet. I went for a swim in the pool, which is about the size of your average back yard pool and was in need of some maintenance (broken tiles, etc). The spa/jacuzzi had yellow police style tape around it so I assume it was out of order.
The hotel is in a great location, close to food, shopping, and the beach. I was so unhappy with the staff. They were rude and made us feel very uncomfortable. We had multiple issues with the parking garage that is connected to the hotel, including getting our bicycle locks cut and our bikes stolen. When we addressed these issues, the staff made us feel awkward and were quick to blame us. We stayed for 8 nights, and we feel that the price for the hotel was outrageous for the quality. The rooms are cramped and haven't been updated in years. I have never been so upset with a hotel's staff or have ever felt so ripped off, I really wish I would have spent my money on the surrounding hotels and avoided this hotel completley.
Our room had both a fridge and a microwave, which was nice. The location is also pretty good, being about 4 blocks from Waikiki. Because the hotel is under construction until about December 30, things like the pool are out of commission. Also, parking isn't included in the nightly price - it's an extra $26 per night, and because of the construction you aren't guaranteed a spot. If you can't park there, tell the front desk and they'll refund that night's parking fee, but it's still a pain.
The amount of tour groups coming through the hotel throughout the day was ridiculous. It makes checking in, checking out, and even getting an elevator to the room take forever.
Hotel was clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was a plus - good walking distance to all major beaches and restaurants. Bed was hard. Walls are thin - very loud neighbors heard their whole conversation and their small child crying at really early morning hours - need to be mindful of this.
Staff was friendly A/c in room wasn't working and it was hot as hell!
I've been to Maile Sky Court before years ago & I must say that the rooms have definitely changed a lot! My boyfriend and I had no complaints. Inviting, comfortable, clean & beautiful. We know that the place is still undergoing some renovations and although we were a bit disappointed that the pool was closed we understand. We would definitely recommend Maile Sky Court to our friends and family!
Location and staff were great. If you need a place to sleep this will work fine. Safe location near everything. Otherwise dont stay here for your first Hawaiian dream vacation. "Resort fee" (for coffee, DVD player, safe, newspaper) of 10 or 15 per night. Not really needed. Parking is 25 dollars per day. Rooms need updating and feel dated. Price sometimes reflects a higher star hotel relative to what you really get.
Not too far from the beach, have parking space, check in pretty fast, nice staff Small room, smell bad, old TV, lousy AC and lousy bathroom from sucking machine
Comfortable overnight stay. Staff helpful. Bathroom sink faucet leaked.
