the glass ceiling in the lobby is very beautiful. Room is spacious. Location is great The bed is not very comfy. First room was noisy with machine working outside and we changed a room on the second day.
Luxury with very few money. Huge room, bathroom, very quiet both inside and outside the room, right in the heart of Mexico City. I would really go again. Do not forget to visit the restaurant in the terrace for an excellent view of Zocalo.
The best room in the hotel didn't have curtains and it took them 3 hours to prepare a new room for us.
Perfect location, beautiful, historic, high-class, staff is VERY friendly/accomadating/helpful/welcoming A bit outdated, in need of some renovations/modernization. It could be a truly luxurious experience if the lobby area were brought up to date. The piano bar/lounge could be wonderful if it were renovated. I envision something truly great in the future.
The staff was very curtious and helpful. They retrieved a forgotten cell phone. Arranged a driver and tour guide to Guadalupe. Came to room to open wine bottle. The roof restaurant and cafe food was excellant. Waiters pleasant. The small elevator somtimes had a strange odor. It was clean but could use some kind of air freshner.
The entire hotel is truly beautiful and classical. We loved the decor, the foyer, the staircase. The entire building was wonderful. The shower did not work for our entire stay despite reporting the problem to the staff on the first morning. I do not believe they looked at the problem. I was also given some very poor information regading the estimated cost of a taxi. However I still consider this a wonderful hotel if everything works.
From the start, I was treated amazingly. Given a glass a champagne and told about the magaestic history of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Especially senor ernesto. Thank you!
Fantastic location in the heart of CDMX. Excellent service. Professional and personable staff work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Lovely boutique hotel.
The rooms at the Zocalo Central are well accommodated and well maintained. The staff is phenomenally helpful and friendly, and the roof-top cafe has an unbelievable view of the national cathedral and central plaza below. For sightseeing purposes, one can't beat the location, which is merely steps away from the cathedral, Palacio Nacional, and the city's archeological site.
The hotel is located in a great location. The staff was great. The rooms are small.
Holiday Inn Zocalo is located on Constitution Plaza and was an excellent location, especially for those interested in history. The surrounding area is also a major shopping area. On Our first stay we had a room that the toilet didn't flush and the plumbing generally was poor. Our second stay, a few days later was much better. We wondered, not for the first time, whether internet bookings tend to be given lower grade rooms.
The wonderful location. Nothing
The hotel is a gem. It is centrally located, very clean and the staff was amazing. They were friendly and helped us out with getting around the city. As soon as you walk in they make you feel welcomed. They greet you with a smile and a glass of authentic horchata or jamaica. Love it!! The evening guest services provides us with suggestions for excursions, which we took advantage of. The restaurant buffett was a bit overpriced. It does provide a great view, so that's what you mainly pay for.
Best view of Zocalo, the front desk staff were very professional and accommodating. The free water bottles and apples were quite welcoming. Rooftop restaurant did not have a bar, you have to order and sit on a table to drink. I paid the most expensive mojitos I ever had $24 dollars for two to be exact plus tip for the waiter. The room I had was tiny with a 1foot by two slim overhead window, quite claustrophobic for me... The breakfast buffet was $24 dollars, really! You walk next block to Restaurant El Popular and order their menus for less than $6.
Location. Staff members were very accommodating and did successfully resolve a major problem with noise. There was a terrible problem with noise late one night due to needed repairs. This should not have happened; an alternative should have been found., and conflict avoided.
location, comfort of room The website states this hotel has an airport shuttle - incorrect
Location, location, location - the old heart of Mexico City
Super friendly staff and great location. Need more sound proofing walls, you can hear your neighbors conversations.
Location and easy access from airport, very confortable the restaurant and bar was close before midnight- need to go out so late find restaurant
central klocation, wide rooms, good breakfast no, but they were blocking free wi fi internet access
Nice and quiet. Clean ans spacious rooms.
Location and Service from the Staff Everything was fine. Met my expectations.
The staff were really helpful and courteous. The room was really clean, comfortable and everything seemed fairly new. On a couple of mornings, there were some loud repetitive noises coming from somewhere near my room, it was kind of annoying. But the rest of my group never heard anything so maybe my room was just unluckily located.
The location is very good! The hotel is in centre!
The location is very convenient. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, arranging a trip to Teotihuacan for me within mere minutes after asking, also taxi arrangements via the reception were convenient and quick. The room was elegant and very comfortable, much better than in equivalent hotels in Western countries. Everything was immaculately clean. The atmosphere is rather that of a us hotel. There were two bottles of water in the bathroom (I supposed that they were for brushing teeth) -- it turned out that they were part of the minibar and quite expensive. This could've been better marked. When I arrived at the breakfast room, no one seemed to speak any English or have any clue what they were supposed to do. They gave me a dinner menu and claimed that there was no breakfast. After a while, the chef came out, and in the end, I received a delicious breakfast (though the whole process took almost 1 1/2 hours). The next day I went to the breakfast place next door (Pan y Cocina; which was ok and cheaper).
It's on a great location! Just around the Conner from the Zocalo. The hotel is nice and clean, very helpful personnel, and right on the center of many historic attractions. Lots of places to eat, shop and have a great time. the only thing that I think might be a problem for some of our older couples is the shower. The tub it's to high.
I loved the staff and location I did not like that there was no parking for hotel guest.
good location, pretty good value. Hotel taxis very expensive. It's international ordinary. No problems, but no thrill.
Very close to the sight seeings. Staff's english is not good. Taxi service is expensive.
It's close to the plaza, and several city scenic sites. good location. They do not have traveling booking service. breakfast is simple, limited selections, and the taste of food is simple.
Very close to perfect. Located close to the historic center, the rooms are spacious and very clean. The hotel has a selection of nice restaurants on the premises which is ideal when you don't feel like wandering out after dark. Hotel staff is very friendly and competent. Although it seems to become more and more customary, I think that a hotel of that category should not charge extra for WiFi - this is a bit akin like charging extra for the water to take a shower.
Clean & the availability of the good foods.
Staff were nice, helpful and courteous.Hotel is luxurious, safe and in an excellent location in the city center. It's outrageous to be charging 14USD for wireless internet.
rooms are quite and excellent matrass ,and the athmosphere is very pleasant.
All you can expect from a 5 stars hotel, including great breakfast. The only missing thing in my room was a 220V outlet.
helpful staff, good sized rooms and not too expensive well the taxis they recommended or hauled from the door tended to be more expensive than the taxis on the street- as in dramatically more expensive.
Good location Wifi did not work until around midnight of the night that I was there. Hot water in the shower didn't work either.
Central location, comfortable room Hotel staff not up to 5 star standard
Good location and the rooms were quiet and a good size. Food was good and service was very quick and efficient.
Great location. Friendly staff. Great breakfast. Very clean room with a great view. Spacious room. Very noisy ventilation system. The fan in the ventilation system made an incredible racket. Staff said it could not be fixed though they tried. Lights in the bathroom were delayed fluorescent bulbs which made being in the bathroom a dark experience.
Great location, good value, clean facilities, quiet, friendly staff
everything was excellnt
The price and confort offered. Cofee or tea in the hall negar the room No thing .
I like the caring of the personal a breakfast should be a minimum to offer for the price
swimming pool was very good.
The hotel is very well located, near everything important in Mexico City downtown. The Internet connection is lame and the staff surely didn't have the knowledge necessary to handle situations. The hotel needs to improve on this immediately.
Great price for a hotel in the city center close to public transport. Windows are all loose in the fittings. Tremendous noise is coming in. Carpets are not well rolled out. A lot out of date and little maintained.Bar was closed on most nights.
The hotel was clean and the stuff cleaned it every day and they were very nice. The problem at the hotel was with the internet and not all the hotell staff could talk in english, so for buisness it is a big thing.
Location was exceptional. Very accessible to all kinds of public transportation, fairly safe area except the back of the hotel (from outside). It needs more lighting and have a more friendlier appearance. Bellman/security very friendly some of them very knowledgeable, and the young lady that serves the food at the breakfast buffet really knows what the customer service business is all about. She has a great smile and everything you ask for she gets for you without hesitating. One of the best things at the hotel are the security cameras on every corner of the floors. Beds were very comfortable, I guess it depends on your preferences as far as mattresses since I saw bad bed reviews from this hotel before. Staff for the most part don't know what they are doing during check in/out.they seem lost. I'll give the front desk manager the credits for their lack of customer service and old system to run the operation. The restaurant hostess keeps telling you that you have to pay for breakfast as soon as you enter the restaurant; they say its policy to remind the guest they have to pay even if they have seen you for two weeks straight or if you have a visitor (potential client) for breakfast. (Not the best way to greet a customer), also chairs are extremely dirty. Front desk charges you for lost key cards and they question you if you ask for extra keys; when if you go to a branded hotel you can loose 100 key cards and you won't pay a penny. If you want to exchange dollars at the hotel the pay you 10 pesos per dollar when if you go outside its 16 pesos per dollar. Basically they steal from you. Bad business practice! And lastly housekeeping don't dust rooms or deep clean bathrooms.
Very helpful staff, though limited English proficiency. The hotel is near a train (Metro) station, which makes it easy to get around the city for 5pesos one-way. Being nitpicky here...the cleaning staff starts going around a little too early for my liking. I think around 8:30 or so I they go around, While I had the do-not-disturb notice on my door, I could still hear them them knocking on nearby doors since they were so close.
The location of this hotel is excellent, very close to Zocalo and all the sightseeing sites! The first night we arrived after a very long flight, we were given a very small room on the 3-rd floor, very noisy, facing the main street! We could not sleep the entire night because of the noise! The bed sheets were dirty and the bathroom was smelly! The interior was old...and needed seriously refurbishment! The next morning after we complaint, we were given a much better room on the 1-st floor! It was totally different, clean, newly refurbished, it's like we moved to some other hotel! I guess it just depends on chance and luck! We would recommend this hotel, it's good value for money and the location is convenient!
The rooms were very nice and comfortable, the location was good and it was fantastic value for money. However the staff could have been a little more friendly towards us.
exellent staff and customer service some of the rooms dindt have ac.
Housekeeping personnel Reception personnel
It is perfectly located next to the Hidalgo Metro station and only a few blocks away from the Centro Historico. Our bathroom continually smelled of sewer gases and got to the point where we didnt want to ener or use the bathroom anymore.
Great area Bathroom lights need to be fixed
Friendly staff and great location
Nice sbatyle of decoration, comfortables rooms, lounge, internet service free, close to Zocalo and others important historical areas, good balance betwen price and service. It would be better if price included breakfast
The room, cleanliness and the silent.
This wasn't the Marlowe I remembered. Our Executive double turned out to be a double bed in a room with windows only by the ceiling, stairs up to the bathroom and a noisey overhead fan. Paying more, the next day we got two bedsand normal windows.
The hotel has a great location, close to Bellas Artes and walking distance from the Zocalo. Breakfast was good and plenty. The fact that it did not have a hairdryer or a safe box in the room
Very good over all. Front desk very efficient but not as welcoming as could be. Why are front desk people the least friendly Mexicans?? This the frnt line of the hotel. New lobby and restaurant excellent in every way. Walls somewhat thin. Location a little noisy.
location (close to Zocalo), excellent value for money poor knowledge of english
Great breakfast buffet for about $6 per person.
great location for touring the historic district slow internet okay restaurant
Great location, close to several metro stops, zocalo, alameda park, bellas artes, arts and crafts market. Inexpensive restaurants close by. At first they gave us a room which was not of our liking. We decided to leave but were quickly accomodated to a much better room (including an extra room free of charge; we are a family of 5). The manager seems to be quite a diligent and professional person. A particular member of their staff was not helpful, but the manager makes up for it. No air conditioner but it wasn't needed as the nights were cool and comfortable(beginning of June}. The breakfast buffet was good. The food in the restaurant was quite good but the servings were relatively small. Neighborhood doesn't look good when arriving, but seems to be safe. Anyway, it is only one block from Bellas Artes.
Excellent location There are some bars around the hotel and during the weekends people could be too noisy. For some people this could be a little anoying
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Marlowe, we didn´t expect it to be that good being a 2 star one! We were 8 persons in 2 triple rooms and one double. The rooms were spacious with a big bathroom, hot water was always on and most important it is very clean! There is no air condition but it is not a major problem since the weather in Mexico is amazing this time of the year! Do not miss the tours organized by the hotel we were overwhelmed especially with our guide the exceptional Saúl! Laura, the lady at the reception is very kind and useful. The breakfast is good too. There are no safes in the hotel rooms so take care of your money - jewelery, though the hotel is safe despite its poor surrounding.
Location - close to the metro and to Gran Via, friendly staff, clean room, small kitchen in the room Lack of pots and teapot in the kitchen
The ease to speak with the staff, and to get answers in spanish, or english. Wish there would have been a gym.
The location and price The beds and pillow were not comfortable
poor hotel not samting speciel there is hotels for less price and same location services and facilities.one example is thet the budding was dirty the steff wasnt be nice
The good service in the restaurant. The convenience location. The room location we got close to the elevator because every morning was too noisy even on Sunday morning we were awake. The poor service in the reception area at one time.
Just one block from the Alameda park, two from Sheraton or Diego Rivera Mural Museum, and three from the museum of fine arts. Good rates. Nice restaurant. Watch out the taxi service from the Hotel. The guy who drove me five blocks from the hotel charged me mex$90, and he pretended not to have enough change to give me. Hire an official meter-equipped cab, rather.
Central location. Helpful reception staff. Only problem noise from street at night time. Next time would request back room.
The hotel was located on a quite street just off a main street. Rooms were sufficient for a family of 4. Would stay again.
The staff at the Hotel Metropol was warm and welcoming. They were, without exception, courteous and efficient! They provided maps, and information regarding transportation to the numerous museums and interesting sites located close to the hotel. I would highly recommend the Hotel Metropol.
Location, purified water in the room, restaurant in the hotel easy to use, tours available from the lobby.
This hotel provides nice rooms in the center of the city, I mean that in 10 minutes walking you reach Zocalo and metro station, furthermore you can use hotel's taxis that don't seem the typical "autorizados" with the same prices. Stuff was not helpful, they put your luggages in your room just for a tip not for kindness. We had some problem since our flight company lost one of our luggage and the hotel's stuff didn't help us finding a number to call at all. We had to insist and it was frustrating!!
Location was great. The bellman Edgar was amazing and very helpful. The reception staff was not great They were busy with renovation but no apologies was forthcoming f om the staff at check in. Breakfast looked unappetizing and the staff in the restaurant spoke very little or no English
Quiet hotel, convienient located in the centre of the city, metro close by, pleasant staff
The bartender was nice - access was blocked to entrance by pedestrian only traffic. Noise at night was intolerable.
Services are good, staff was nice and helpful and respectful, everything is fairly clean. For the price it has a good value. Location is pretty much the best you can get. This building is an old one, everything inside it is old.
Good location but taxi driver usually does not recognize with the name so be sure to have the exact street address when taking taxi. The front side street was closed while we were staying. The breakfast was beyond our expectation but very expensive... easy access to main tourist places and for shopping. 7/11 was really close to the hotel. Surprisingly the housekeeper opened the door without knocking before 9 am!!
Centrally located, attractive and clean. Noise from the Mariachis in the Plaza goes all night
Location is fairly decent as long as you stay on the main road to walk to the city center. A/C worked well and had windows that opened. Staff can offer you safe tours and taxi fares that are reasonably priced but only if you ask. Breakfast was weak af. Staff isn't the most helpful. Too much mariachi and soliciting outside your hotel.
Front desk quite nice. Two waiters particularly good, others hopeless. Breakfast spread prepared very early in the morning. Basically rancid at 10.00am. Speciality of the day, snapper, gave me a gastroenteritis. Very propably cooked beforehand and just warmed before serving. No European wine in restaurant. Being a medico it was easy for me to clear it up.
Small hotel, with wonderful staff. Historic location. Fantastic City, lots to do within walking distance, shopping, museums and historic architecture. I had no problem, but people need to be aware that this is a nicely done seventeenth century building, not a modern skyscraper with all the amenities of a five star hotel. The food is on par with the area.
I loved the service, food, and design of the hotel and especially the bathroom features. The loud music went on for far too long at night time, so it was desturbing for sleep.
Nice old building. Great location for seeing the sites. The AC in the two rooms we tried was not strong enough to make the temperature comfortable at nighttime. There was only a glass divider between the main room and the toilet which sometimes made it awkward for my friend and I.
I think the design is good and they help me to surprise my wife . In mexico paying the tips to the employers is mandatory and they are waiting for your tips.If you don't like to pay tip, they obligate you to paying the tip and I think it's not good for the touristic places. Also, they didn't say anything about the rate of the tax in my check in.
simplicity, not a big impersonal hotel food good but should be hotter
the service was extremely friendly, the building & patio were great, breakfast is delicious the shower had a wooden floor - which was always wet and thereby rotting and smelling! the whole room was smelling and humid because of this
service was super & the staff very friendly & eager to help & answer all questions. Breakfast was super. My only complaint would be that it was rather noisy in that the terrace bar didn't shut down till 2:00 am
i got another room.. free upgrade but still with some noise. rooms are nice . there is a discotheque at the top of the roof, to mucho noise till 2pm unpossible to sleep for. discotheque is open on friday and saturday.
Nice design, very nice location, in the center of the city, excellent rooftop bar (go there, especially in the evening - the lightening and view is perfect!) and excellent staff - very kind and attentive! I would recommend to stay in the hotel if you want to have a weekend escape in Mexico city!
Breakfast buffet at the weekend. Loud club music at the weekend. Bathrooms are stylish but not very practical.
The area the hotel is is was beautiful antique buildings. The streets were busy with foot traffic. The streets are lined with storefronts. The balcony is awesome. The room has really high ceiling. First room I was in had 20' feet ceiling. The other room had 15'. The staff is very friendly. Its very easy to get to the subway from there. Its also easy to get to the airport by bus. There's only one bus transfer tip get to the airport and there's security at the transfer station. You can't control the temperature in the rooms. One night there was a lot of construction noises from across the street
