The Hotel Victor is located right in the middle of fun Biking, Bikinis, boozing and dancing till dawn but and what a big butt South Beach has, bring your money, valet $40 a night drinks there magic number is $20 a drink and 20% added to everything courtesy of the people that don't know how to tip... So bad service is the norm because they get paid ether way. But no were on Earth will see the eclectic mix of people just wanting to have a good time, then in South Beach Nothing Works when you pay $300 a night and cant take a shower because the shower is plugged FAIL. Or go to have a soak in the Roman tub until you turn it on and it spits nasty bits of the last people that used it out FAIL Or the Ac vents are so plugged that it took 2 maintenance people 2 days to get it right FAIL. And the worst part is they have your money because you used a new service and paid up front wont do that again FAIL FAIL FAIL. Spent $1000 dollars in 2 day on room and did not get to enjoy it Priceless NOT!!!

Room was setup well. TV install on wall was slick & well-done. Free breakfast each morning was convenient and saved us money (croissants, muffins & high-class coffee). Pool & view were unbeatable. Staff was very polite and always available. Best place I've stayed in in South Beach. Three of the lights in the room did not work.
In the middle of south beach. Great service, front desk was very helpful. Clean comfortable rooms. Not for older couples or families, this does not include me but it is a forewarning. I didn't know gratuity would be added automatically until I arrived at my first day. But I was advised on the first day. The cleaning ladies were on time and did a great job, so gratuity was worth it.
Location was great and I was impressed with the renovations. Very nicely done. I could hear people walking above me. Their footsteps caused light fixture on my ceiling to rattle and both sounds were a bit annoying late at night. Breakfast was pretty bad. Everything was cold, in using the eggs, sausage and French toast. Also the total bill is a little more than what I thought I paid. The resort fee is included in the initial bill, without tax. The resort fee,with taxes, is actually charged at check out, which made my total about $8 more than expected.
Location was great! Breakfast was okay. Ocean 10, great Resturant service, connected to hotel. We tried getting beach towels twice, they were out. Didn't have more than one bath towel in the room, needed more before shower. They never came. 2 different service fees $22/day which really is $44/day.
The only thing I liked about this hotel was the location. It's across the street from the beach. On Kayak this looks like a beautiful luxury hotel, but quickly upon arriving you realize it only looks like that from a distance and they have an amazing photographer for their site photos. Kayak was great but Breakwater is a sleezy lemon. Upon our arrival at 1 am Saturday we were tired and eager to get to our room. The receptionist strongly persuaded us to upgrade to a much more expensive room for $180 + tax so it would be quiet. He then proceeded to charge my card but forgot the tax so asked me to give him my credit card again so he could charge the sales tax. He also informed us upon arrival there is a $22/day resort fee but this was not stated anywhere on Kayak. Also as we were dealing with check in another guest came up to the desk and asked for ear plugs because the club music outside the hotel was too loud. And YES it was VERY LOUD. We were in a room that was pretty quiet for what it was but on Sunday night, by boyfriend WHO IS A DJ wasn't even able to fall asleep until 4 am because it was so loud! The room itself had a nice view but it had a lot of issues from lazy upkeep. The bed sheets had stains on them, the bench at the foot of the bed had weird sticky dirt marks from removed tape stains, the bathroom tub was worn down cracked and stained (didn't use it unfortunately because it looked so gross), and the shower floor was cracked. Using the TV was also a mess. The remote didn't work and no channel guide. We tried multiple times to dial the front desk from the hotel phone to have these addressed but the line would disconnect every time we hit the front desk or 0 button. Not sure if they don't want to hear from you, the line is inundated with calls, or something was wrong with the phone. The staff has not been trained to be friendly and welcoming to their guests. They view us as a bother and just want a fast interaction so they can quickly move on to the next opportunity to make money. The waiters/waitresses at the front of the hotel in the morning were more concerned with snagging passersby (as every other restaurant on that street) for business than greeting their current guests eating breakfast. I said good morning to a few of them and received very cold and snobby responses. They didn't make eye contact with me and didn't offer any interaction. So rude! One day I was using a computer in the lobby and a manager was severely scolding a server right there in the lobby for doing something that wasn't appropriate. She was very nasty and mean to him, and the one way scolding went on for literally 10 minutes. It was so unpleasant and uncomfortable to witness that as a guest. The employees should have a private area they use for this kind of thing, not out in the public lobby! This hotel is appropriate for frat boys/college aged kids that want to party hard, trash rooms, and recover on the beach afterwards without making much effort in getting there. We were paying over $300/night for this room and it's evident the Breakwater heavily relies on their location to make visitors happy and turn over business quickly, but does not put in any other effort. Definitely won't be staying here again. :(

Location and staff. Place is dirty. Stayed there in the past around 2 years ago and had a great experience. Place Has not been kept up. Rugs dirty, bathroom wall stained with something I would rather not mention. When checked in was told we got upgraded to Penthouse at no charge. Penthouse was old, dirty, filthy rugs with hot tub that did not work. Really??? Not an upgrade but a way to get someone in that room no one else would take. Declined upgrade and demanded the room we booked. Great location and staff but dirty. Also toiletries not replaced daily. Bring your own supplies
the room was fairly clean and the cleaning crew was helpful. The front desk staff was rude and gave us attitude when we complained. When my husband called at 1am in the morning to say the music is so loud that our floors are vibrating, all the receptionist offered was ear plugs... Seriously. The pictures online are really updated because the lobby and the pool area were really old and dirty. The roof deck was not even open, the only place to hangout was pretty much the restaurant which was super expensive. Definitely not staying here EVER AGAIN.
This hotel is a block from the beach - great location. all you need is near. Employees and the staff are very kind and gentlemen. Is very clean hotel and the cafe in the morning offers fruit, orange juice, otmeal, cereals, bread varied, boiled and scrambled eggs, hash botatos, sausicha, x, and a delicious cafe. all for a great price. I will return to this hotel in January 2015. I recommend.
Position in the Art Deco area Parking is a problem at night - especially on weekends. Thousands of people come to Miami South beach so you may cruise a lot for a space (including public garages).

Location was excellent (1 street to get to Miami Beach & Ocean Drive). Room nice & confortable. Hotel staff was very kind, Richie at reception is very helpful and will make you feel like at home.
Location to South Beach
Very convenient location; friendly staff; quality bedsheets; parking lot next door; proximity to the beach and pedestrian shopping street. Carpeting in my hotel room was full of stains and should be replaced. No stopper in sink and bathtub (minor nuisance). The day of my departure I stored my suitcase and wool cardigan in the luggage room until it was time to leave for the airport. When I returned from lunch to pick up my bags, my newly purchased wood cardigan was missing (stolen or misplaced?). The cardigan had been placed in the storage room along with my bags. The hotel clerk was adamant that my cardigan could not have been lost in the storage room and insinuated that I must have taken it along when I left the hotel for lunch. Because of this I was cold throughout my return flight to France.
The room was a nice size but they have bed bugs and that hotel reeks of piss! Its smelle like a portable washroom, especially in the lobby! The hotel staff was rude too! Bed bugs, pissy smell, and rude staff
There was a dance club to the rear of the hotel that played loud (deep bass) music until 4 AM. The sound of the bass resonated throughout the hotel room and woke us up. We needed to use ear plugs in order to go back to sleep.

Location is central to everything in South Beach. The staff is very helpful and goes out of their way to make sure guest have an enjoyable stay. The room was very clean and the cleaning staff did a great job keeping the room clean even sweeping the sand from the beach off the floor. The walls are paper thin and you can hear guest in other rooms all around. Guests in the halls can get noisy and those sounds come through pretty clearly.
could not fault the house keeping, very clean. Excellent location and friendly staff. the bar downstairs did not have a great atmosphere. (the weather for us was not warm enough to be at the bar on the roof top- which is fab), but the downstairs bar lacked appeal.

You could actually have a meaningful conversation with the dude caring your luggage. Room was big and with many good practical and esthetic genius details. On a hotel this class you will normally have a complementary bottle of water. But beside this I can't put one single finger...

We just stayed overnight, and arrived very late. Front lobby was open late (great!) and check-in easy. Valet accessible right in front (great!) Clean, fluffy linens (great!) Hotel not noisy (great!). Staff very helpful (great!) And, you're right on South Beach (great!). Didn't get to the pool, but it looked nice from the window in the dark (oh, well). Old elevator is cool, but some instructions for those of us not born in 1855 always appreciated. Valet parking $35 a day, but hey, it's Miami, and we didn't helicopter in. Typical narrow room/layout for the 1920's. They do a good job with space saving, though. Doesn't bother me, but might bother some. Also, the hotel front is easy to miss at midnight. We drove right by it, and we weren't inebriated.

The location -The room was advertised a a double budget. Got there it was only one bed. When i asked about it the front desk manager said he did not know what to tell me and no more rooms were available -Saw two or so small roaches in the room -There was a stain on the sheet when we first arrived -The room had a really old musty smell -Room was not cleaned everyday

Location in the Spanish area and close to the beach.Our room had the cutest balcony overlooking restaurants. There was a guest laundry & kitchen. Bathroom, Towels and Bedding all clean. Staff helpful and organised a great tour of the Everglades for us. A long way from town, cost of cab from Amtrak to the Clay was horrendous.
This was nowhere in my kayak booking info. It was not optional, and it was in the middle of a neighborhood blocks from the beach. It was ostensibly to cover the continental breakfast and wifi. These things were advertised as free in the add. Dishonest advertising and not worthy of my business for any repeat visits.
Location is excellent - 2 blocks form the beach! Parking is only $19 a day...an incredible rate for south beach. Room completely remodeled - beautiful and modern! We will be back! Kind of weird not to walk through the lobby...you walk down the street with your luggage through the outdoor cafes' while people are dining. No elevator....so pack light! Wall are thin (I read this in another review) but we laughed listening to the lady next door complain about her hairstyle...and her husband helping to style it...LOL

The AC was nice and strong. Room was nice. Location was even closer to the beach than we expected and, although touristy, in a really fun area with lots of restaurants. Also enjoyed the discount offered at many of those restaurants. Enjoyed having a safe to use to put our minds at ease. Recently remodeled room. LOVED having beach chairs and umbrella to use on the beach! That made our trip! The continental breakfast was full of cheap, simple carbohydrates with little else. We went twice during our week long stay. Housekeeping did not always restock our room with amenities, i.e. coffee, soap, etc. Would have been nice to have a dresser to put our clothes and the room was pretty small.

Loved that they gave free breakfast and two free drinks during happy hour. Plus the beach was across the street. The room was very small and outdated. The a/c wall unit was very loud and would walk you up when it would turn off and on. Was hard the adjust the shower to a good temperature and every two minutes while talking a shower it would go from cold the very very hot real fast.

Most of the street noise was filtered out but there was more guest noise than I would have expected. Décor is definitely eclectic. They had incense in the hallways which was very strong - gave us both headaches.

The hotel was great; service was top notch; i would absolutley recommend this hotel to someone looking to stay on ocean ave...location is in the middle of everything there is no pool, however the hotel provides outstanding beach ammenities for free (great comfy chairs and towles) The valet service was the only bad part of my stay at the pelican. i was told to call for my car 20 minutes ahead of when i needed it. It took an hour on one occasion and 45 minutes on another. I recommend that if you have dinner reservations call an hour in advance for your car.

good location in South Beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. I was charged an extra fee for 'resort fee' plus sales tax for each day which were never mentioned when I made the booking. Seeing that I was there on business and not leisure, it was a waste of money to pay this fee for access to the beach. This should have been stated clearly.

My fiance and I used it together and when he napped in the room one day, it was a perfect refuge for me to have some alone time. BLT Accessibility to Starbucks and the beach. Loved being "across" from the beach vs. directly on it. Your location is very nice. I do wish we could have a waiver for the resort and valet fees. Other hotels (The Tides) were giving what they call a summer Florida resident rate that also provided free valet and no resort fee. Plus, your pool was under construction. Nevertheless, we decided to pay the extra because The Betsy had the appeal we were looking for.
Top side deck was very relaxing and had a great view. Hotel room was extremely comfortable, especially the bed. Love the books they have all over the place.
The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and took their time to provide information and services. The food at the hotel restaurant was one phenomenally delicious. The decorative bed pillows were dirty and the maintainence people interrupted our stay at least three different times. Lastly the only elevator was small and extremely slow.

The staff and service was incredible! We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the beach right in front. As well as the roofdeck. The $15 resort fee covers sunchairs, towels and umbrellas on the beach. The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to everything yet in a quiet area. Highly recommend staying here if you are willof to splurge a bit.
Great location! Right on Ocean Drive and had beach service as well as a rooftop lounge area. The onsite BLT Restaurant is excellent. A classy hotel with small but very attractive rooms (we stayed in the Classic), attractive bar and lobby, and an appealing verandah.

The location is excellent and the staff is very nice. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and spacius. If we come back to Miami we will probably repeat this hotel. We liked everything. It helped to have a great time in Miami.
The staff were amazingly helpful. The hotel itself was beautiful to an almost unbelievable level. Our view from the 8th flood was gorgeous. The window opened!! We even asked for somewhere to store a few mixers and leftovers and they wheeled us a small fridge! Awesome.
