Ok, but allow plenty of time at pickup
Pros: Car was clean and fine, no issues.
Cons: Long, slow line. Tried to up-sell everyone on a whole bunch of things.To get CDW waiver they made us show our car insurance records, and we had to call our agent to email them on the spot!

Drop off disaster
Cons: Rental return in San Francisco is not in the rental return building and I was directed to a non existent location 20 minutes away in Burlingame only to find out that the real drop off was at an almost unfindable location on south canal. When I finally did arrive no one was being helped. 2 employees said they were short staffed. It took me a full hour to drop off my car

Pros: The car was fairly new.
Cons: The car was dirty. Arrived at the rental place and had to wait while they "cleaned the car" even though I had a reservation. They must have just hosed it down even though it took 20 minutes. The dashboard was covered in dust, there was white residue on the seats, a whole slice of pizza in full view stuck down beside the seat, and pepperoni and cheese in multiple places through the car.

Pros: Customer Service for drop off was very good. Professional and efficient. Drop off person was very polite and helpful. Got us on our way quickly.

Friendly and Efficient Service
Pros: After another car rental company didn't honor our reservation, Advantage was able to help us quickly get into a car for a good price. Thanks for saving our vacation!

Pros: Once we got past the one hurdle the pick up was fine.
Cons: We were not informed up front they required a copy of the declarations page of our current auto insurance before they could rent us the car. And we are standing at the desk when they told us this. Never been asked for that ever before, not even when renting a car in France. And we did not have a copy. Scrambling to call our insurance company and having to have them email this to us was a pain. A requirement like this should be in large red letters all over the booking and was not. Also the car was pretty worn out, but got us there.

Cons: They didn't accept the insurance from my credit card provider, and they wanted to put 350$ hold on my credit card for just a 63$ reservation.

Good service but they gave me a small car
Pros: The service was good and the car worked fine
Cons: It was late at night and we had to wait over 45 minutes in the line. I got a car that was smaller than what I had reserved and I ended up having to run two trips to the airport and back in order to accommodate everyone. Then I didn't get a refund for the more expensive car until after I came back and asked for it after I left San Diego

First time user, positive experience
Pros: Full disclosure, I did agree to a last-minute SUV upgrade which I never do, but it put us in a brand new Toyota 4Runner, just over 700 miles -- and it was a time when San Diego had a massive rain storm hit so it came in handy for visibility, handling. Prices were reasonable, pickup was good, but the signs at this location were a little small and not in plain view like the big car rental companies. Agent was fast and pleasant to deal with, ran through the typical offers of extra insurance, gas fill dropoff, etc. Directed us to upper-level garage. Finally found the pickup booth, handed confirmation papers then walked a ways down to do the initial damage inspection. Walked back up to booth, finalized paperwork, got the keys and we were off. SUV was nice overall, no smoke smell, etc. It wasn't spotless inside or out but it wasn't anything that would be noticeable to most non-Type A folks. Good space, backup camera was used extensively. Drop off was much better, good signs. Pulled right up, unpacked while agent reviewed mileage and confirmed gas gauge was full, very quick and no issues.
Cons: SUV was backed into parking spot in a packed garage so we had to pull it out to pack our bags into the trunk. It was also at the far end of the garage so I had to walk down there to do the pre-review damage assessment leaving my family to wait by the booth. Of course, both issues may be our fault for the last-minute upgrade so it wasn't a big deal.

Rent from one of the other car rental companies
Pros: Returning the car
Cons: The vehicle I was issued wasn't what I expected. It was filthy and looked like it had been through a war zone. Ehicle was dangerously underpowered and drive like a bobsled

Poor check in service
Cons: Their system was down when I checked in so that I needed to wait for 30 min to check in. They didn't know how to do manual check in.

Car was good but customer service was not
Pros: The car was clean and nice and drove well
Cons: The customer service at the drop-off location was pretty bad. They made my husband dig through everything to find the contract because they couldn't just pull it up in the system. She didn't tell us which shuttle went to LAX and there was another couple with us there unloading their car and they actually had to ask her. She was not friendly and seemed like we were annoying her. When my husband went in to close out everything he said she didn't explain things clearly that would be on the bill and was being very rude. This is not how you want to end your trip, being treated bad, so we will not be renting from them again .

Comfort and convenience
Pros: Free upgrade to nicer car, which happened to be almost brand new. Very convenient pick-up and drop-off location. Having Advantage fill the car with gas when we returned it worked out well. We returned it empty, so it may actually have cost less than filling it ourselves.

When you make a reservation for a intermediate car
Cons: I think if you make a reservation for a rental vehicle it should be there for you when you arrive. If not you should be upgraded at the same price.

Worst rental ever experienced
Cons: Poor customer service. They illegally asked me to show proof of my full coverage insurance, and would not rent a vehicle to me unless I showed it to them. Ruined my plans that Thanksgiving weekend. Luckily ALAMO was there to the rescue. They helped me and my family get the rental we needed without the hassel and stress. Nevwr again, will I rent with Advantage. I should have looked them up on yelp first before trying to rent from them. They score low on Yelp, and it's no wonder

Cons: Poor service. Rude customer service. Car unavailability, requested a full size car, ended up driving a minivan. Then they tried to upgrade me into a minivan when paying knowing that they were the only options on the lot after we paid. Made it very challenging to get an exchange the next day. If you want to pay less for an older car, with tons of mileage, don't care if the reservation is available for you at the time of pick up, and like to deal in a bunch of teens that are more rude than helpful- this is your rental company!

Terrible customer service.
Pros: Good value. Easy drop off. Clean.
Cons: The guy downstairs that rang us up offered a upgrade for a little more money which was totally worth it. Get upstairs, and they did not have a vehicle that fit the upgrade. I had to go back downstairs which now the line is 5 people deep and wait for a half hour to get my bill adjusted. When I finally get back to him he tells me the girl upstairs could had adjusted it for me but she still insists she could not. Get it together people. Go somewhere else. Who wants to deal with this to start their vacation?

definitely a bargain brand
Pros: the price!
Cons: The front desk was closed at 10:30 pm with no sign and or notice of where to find employees. Finally found them at the actual pick up kiosk. The car had a super smudged windshield with some cleaner, because a simple wipe didn't do it. It was super annoying driving the car like that. The glove compartment was also busted, which I didn't see at first in the dark. Definitely renting form a bargain retailer.

Good value but cars were not 100% nice
Pros: value for money
Cons: They only had one non-SUV left (a buggy) and it had many scratches. Also, the handle of the glove compartment was broken off.

Cons: Car which I rented was not automatic window open and close. I was a little disappointed it in 2016.

Terrible Rental Car Company
Pros: Nothing! Service was mediocre at best. Selection of cars was poor. Condition of car was poor. Upsell on insurance was pushy and winshield cost mentioned several times (our windshield had a large chip in the drivers view). Customer service did not answer one time over several days, no one to check us in upon return - only one person in the onsite office.
Cons: Everything! See above.

Schedule Time To Wait
Pros: Advantage was the cheapest for a reason
Cons: Cheapest beacause they don't hire staff. Be prepared to wait at the counter as they have one person. Then be prepared to wait to check the car out of the garage. Again one person. Returning, I couldn't pull into the designated parking area because other returned cars were stacked up. The reason? A an employee meeting! Once again waiting. One person working

PU San Diego drop off LAX went well
Pros: Really liked ease of pick up and drop off
Cons: Car was fresh washed but they missed the rear window which was cloudy from the inside and outside. Had quite a few scratches but they didn't bother me.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was easy and accommodating.
Cons: When calling the Advantage car rental operator for additional information, I found that all three representatives were not aware of their line of work. The information was not clear. The contact phone number they provided me for the San Diego airport service center was incorrect. I waited on the line for an hour and a half then the line was hung up.
