Vehicle not ready
Cons: I showed up 30 min after my reservation time. There were 3 employees sitting at the counter doing nothing. Yet they didn't have my vehicle there. I had to wait an hour for them to go get one.

Pros: Despite a few extra charges added on at the dealership, we still feel like we got the best deal by ordering a Heirtz rental through Kayak. By throughly explaining them, Kayak also made it easy to click on and off common extra charges that I had seen a lot of complaints about from customers when they ordered directly. It wasn't the huge money savings that we thought it would be but it definitely saved us a few extra bucks. Thanks!

OK, not great.
Pros: OK, standard rental. Reasonably priced but with some problems.
Cons: The car was not very clean, no Bluetooth connection, only half of tank of gas came with the car. It's more difficult to manage than a full tank. And, there was this annoying Hertz navigation system staring at me that was impossible to turn off. In the age of much smarter smartphone maps apps, this is obsolete technology. And, one of the key fobs was dead.

Cons: Car not ready at pickup. They rent the Mazda 3 compact as mid-size. Car they offered was not cleaned or washed. Gas tank was 3/4 full. It took over 20 minutes to process the rental. Clerk tried hard to get me to buy insurance and offered some sort of formula of gas fill-up that would cost $30. I just brought it back full, with little thanks from Hertz.

I little Expensive
Pros: I wanted a truck and Hertz gave me a Silverado. It was a basic model didn't even had the back up cameras. Nothing at all. So I asked if they had another truck and they said I had to upgrade. I went from paying 185.00 per week to 370.00 which I thought it was pretty jump up in rates to get a suburban. Which I liked a lot more.
Cons: I was not happy that I had to pay so much more. I thought they could of accommodated me with a lesser rate.

Cons: The reservation did not make clear that the car rental location was a Marriott hotel versus the airport location in San Diego. The Agent at Hertz told me this happens all the time. Since I ended up renting from the Airport rental location it cost $45 more than quoted. Ouch!

Can't keep track of your cars in the pickup area
Pros: Last 2 times in SD, went to the pickup lot for the car and the wrong car was there and the 2nd time no car at all in the numbered space. Had to schlep all my bags back to the counter each time to resolve. Won't be using Hertz again!

Cons: Hertz changed their policies, now I can't rent with a prepaid card. Which is something I have done numerous times in the past.

First time was not a good experience
Cons: There was an issue from beginning to end. They also ended up charging me more than was initially set. Could not get through to their customer service. Once I did get to speak with someone I did not receive an appropriate resolution.

Pros: The price for the rental car was excellent.
Cons: After booking the rental car, I called to ensure the Hertz location was at the San Diego Airport and the agent ensure me the address on my reservation was correct and located at the Airport. Upon arrival I quickly found out this was not the case and had to pay $60 to travel to the correct location. When I get the address provided on the reservation, it's not a Hertz rental location it's now a Toyota dealership.

Details Galore Missing
Pros: Once I figured out the new procedures at San Diego Airport, it was easy to proceed.
Cons: All airport car-rental process was brand new, and selling of additional services/products at time of pickup. Hertz couldn't help that I was new to navigating the pickup process, but I don't like the almost hard selling of additional product at check-in time. I stay with my mom who's 5 minutes away, so I just want to pick up and go. When I dropped off the car and wanted to dispute the additional charges, the clerk was very helpful and nice, but we didn't know dropping off the car at the airport instead of another location would incur SO MANY additional taxes. Also, when I finally left, I asked if the shuttle took me back to the airport, was told which one to take and it took me to the wrong terminal, which resulted in a sweaty walk back to the correct terminal with a very heavy suitcase.

Cons: When we showed up at the counter nearest to airport, we were told that our rental was at another location. No assistance or suggestions from representative -a blank stare and the explanation that all locations were independent. Fortunately, Fox Rental (next door ) helped and we were on the way. Classic California !

Pros: I liked that the rate for my initial 3 day reservation was only around $41 including taxes and fees, even though I was driving all the way across the country with the car. The car I was given matched what I had reserved. It was a VW Jetta in excellent condition; it was very clean and comfortable and got great gas mileage. I wasn't given any hassle when I declined their extra insurance or their pre-paid fill-up service.
Cons: The location where I was scheduled to pick up my car was supposed to be open at 7 AM. I arrived at 8 AM, as scheduled, to pick up my car, and no one was at the counter. A sign instructed me to call the phone number for a different location, so I did and left a message. After 15 minutes, I called again with still no answer. I called the 800 number for customer service and was told a general manager would call right away to give me further instructions. Another 15 minutes went by before someone finally called asking if I still wanted my reservation. Finally an employee showed up, and I got my car an hour later than I had requested. I also didn't like that when I added days to my reservation, the rate was $15 more expensive than my original rate.

Cons: Waited in 2 lines & waited an hour to get the car rented. The drop off ppl at LAX couldn't have cared less about my experience & getting out of your prison like lit at LAX is next to near impossible for picks that aren't a Hertz shuttle. Why pay up for shitty service & time waste?

Pros: The Hertz rep at the San Diego airport was very helpful and accommodating being that I didn't book my original reservation at the airport office.
Cons: They always tell you that you will be fined for smoking in the car, but this car definitely smelt like smoke.

Cons: Got to airport car rental location at approximately 6:45 p.m., and was told by Hertz representative that no car was available and that we needed to go to a different location that closed at 7:00 p.m. We obviously weren't able to get there by 7:00, so we had to rent a car from a different company at a much higher price as we had no options. Very disappointed.

Cons: Filled up gas tank and was still charged $47 for fuel....? Was Charged $1.30 daily rental fee (6 days)...? plus $160.00 for the week which I understand then there was a $48 drop off location because we had to drop off the car to the airport location by U.S. Not being informed shuttle does not take u to the next closets hertz location...total hertz gave For the week w tax $160.00.... After I returned the car total charged $262.80 smh

Needed a quick ride and found one here!
Pros: Renting from Hertz is always quick (using the kiosk) and easy.
Cons: Not much. Hertz is a pretty good company to do business with.

Pros: I reserved the vehicle for my parents who came of a cruise. I reserved it in my dad's name. My dad was going to have my mom drive back home. My dad tried to use his credit card to pay for the trip but his card was not exepted because the employee at hertz wanted a credit card in my mother's name. My mom had a debit card but that was not exepted. My parents ended up having to take a greyhound bus home. Had to wait 10 hours at the greyhound Depot for the bus. My senior citizen parents who have never had any issues like this in the past who are well of financially and could easily pay for the vehicle had one of their worst transactional experiences in their lives. They will of course let all their senior friends know about their experience with Hertz. My parents even tried to get Chase Private Client who they are part of on the line to vouch for their credit worthiness but the Hetz team did not want to budge. We will never use Hetz as a company. I will never use Hertz as a company. I will do my best to market my parents poor experience to clients, friends, coworkers, and anyone else in passing.

Pros: I was shocked to find that the rental I researched was at a rental yard 30 minute drive from the airport, with two small children there was no way for me to get there. The hertz bus took me to the rental yard at the airport, they did not have my reservation, told me I would have to take a cab, but cabs don't have car seats, I had rented two car seats. So luckily they did some switching and got me a new contract at the rental yard at airport but the cost was almost twice the price you all quoted me. I was stuck paying the extra money cause I had no other option, so my point is, my communication with you failed miserably! Therefore I paid way too much and will think twice about using your service in the future. It should be made clear as to if there is available ground transportation to the rental location that is child friendly, other wise it's a real headache with two young kids at my feet and being a single father, it was a less than stress free transaction. I paid 600$ to fly from San francisco to San diego round trip and 400$ to rent a car from Tuesday at noon to Friday at 5pm. That's way!!!!!!! To Much money!!! Highway robery!!! Should have been like 35$/ day not 85$/ day, but I was left with no options and a schedule to keep. You could have done better, I could have done better, and therefore I'm left with a sour taste in my mouth about the whole experience through your site. That said, hertz did what they could, To get me on the road as quick as possible.

Pros: Price was great when considering other options; regular price over 200, price with kayak: 80. Still a little pricey for a one day rent even during a major holiday.
Cons: The car I received had a strong smell of cigarettes. When I went back I was immediately switched to another car but, I should not even go back. The smell was so strong that they should have cleaned it before I got it.

Cons: Was a satellite location with no representative .. you had to call or get one and then wait .. no shuttle to and from airport .. and car was Mitsubishi mirage with 19000 miles on it but it drove like it had 190000 miles instead .. what I thought was gonna cost 2t.00 e def up costing me 85.00 ... not kayaks fault . All this bad comments are for hertz

Dirty windows and car needs maintenance.
Pros: Ease of pick up and drop off were convenient.
Cons: Windows were very dirty. It's difficult to drive an unfamiliar car and then when someone "attempts" to clean the windows but makes more streaks interior and exterior- it's not acceptable. Additionally, the coolant light kept going on. Clearly the car needed some mantenance.

Cons: Poor service at pick up. Transactions could not be made with me a several other people. Last minute had to try another rental place.That failed and left me without a rental when. I needed it.

Pros: 1. Great cars, clean, low mileage, and free of defects. 2. Friendly customer service rep who thankfully was patient enough to resolve the issue

Cons: Not able to drop off at satellite. Office was closed. Ended up having to change flight just to return car.
