  • Thailand has over 10 international airports because it is surrounded by several countries and due to its unique geography. Flights originating from the US to the country will arrive at one of three airports: Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), both in the capital city of Bangkok, and Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) in the northern part of the country.
  • The northern part of Thailand is dominated by the provinces of Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, both of which are within reach of Chiang Mai Airport. However, only flights from San Francisco Airport (SFO) use this hub, so if you arrive at either of the Bangkok Airports, you’ll have to arrange a connecting flight to either Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai Airport (CEI) to get there.
  • The Isan Region represents the eastern part of Thailand and there are four major cities there, including Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima and Udon Thani. Suvarnabhumi Airport is close to Nakhon Ratchasima, but the other cities are at least a 5h drive away, so flying into Udon Thani International Airport (UDD) will definitely save travel time that can be used to discover the region.
  • The popular resort island of Phuket and its world-class beaches lies almost 500 mi from Bangkok, but despite the distance, it’s cheaper to fly into Bangkok and get a connecting flight to Phuket International Airport (HKT) than to fly directly to Phuket. Therefore, you may wish to factor that into your travel plans when booking your flight from the US to Thailand.
  • Families traveling on holiday to Bangkok will want to check out KidZania, a miniature city tailormade for children to enjoy. KidZania is less than a 30m drive from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Siam Paragon downtown.
  • Due to its proximity to Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is a popular destination airport for most passengers flying from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Thailand. Indirect flights with a single layover at Tokyo International Airport (HND) on carriers like ANA and THAI are an option for passengers flying this route.
  • Travelers who come hail from the east coast region of the United States prefer to fly to Thailand from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Phuket International Airport (HKT). When using this flight route, passengers can take indirect flights with a single layover at Dubai International Airport (DBX) on airlines like Emirates and Qatar Airways.
  • Travelers from the central United States that intend to fly to Thailand typically use Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW ) as their departure airport. Many indirect flights with a single layover at Heathrow Airport (LHR) on different airlines, including British Airways and THAI, are accessible from this airport to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
  • If you're flying to one of the northern cities in Thailand, the Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX), which serves Chiang Mai Province, might be a better airport option. John F. Kennedy International Airport offers two-stop flights with stopovers at Heathrow and Suvarnabhumi Airports, on a variety of airlines to CNX, with Virgin Atlantic and Bangkok Airways being the most popular.
  • Take one of the indirect flights with a single layover at Heathrow Airport offered by EVA Air, China Airlines, or JAL from Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) if you plan to fly to Thailand from the northwest of the United States.

They forced me to check a bag. When Kayak sold me these tickets I was not informed of carry on baggage weight limits.

Great food on both legs and fast customer service from the stewardesses....

The food was great; the attendants were pleasant. Waiting to onboard felt stressful, as passengers who had connecting flights at SEA had to be verified again for two things before getting a real boarding pass: passport and carry-on luggage weight. The boarding pass issued by another airline (i.e., the first leg of my trip) did not count. The S terminal at SEA was barren, with lots of sensory overloads because every airline was repeatedly broadcasting long lists of names of passengers who had not gone through that verification process. The carry-on luggage weight check seemed futile to me. I saw a woman who opened her over-weight suitcase to move some items into her shoulder bag. She still boarded with two huge bags with her. I assume this check is an endeavor of ensuring fairness of the overhead bin space or optimizing fuel efficiency when gas price is through the roof, but I don't know if either goal is achieved. Nonetheless I respect the crew's dedication to the SOP.

Food tasted like the meat had freezer burn. Another thing all of our 4 check baggage was left somewhere and my oral medication for my diabetes was left in one of the lost luggage..most of the flight attendants did not know how to communicate in English.. the trip was a total nightmare

I put the review all together for the first review

The crew need to be more friendly it seem everything such a rush situation during dinner and breakfast. Smiles to the passenger go such a long way just the service from Seattle to Taipei, service from Taipei to Bangkok were great more pleasant the flight attendant from Thailand she was very nice, as far as entertainment were amazing , wiffi connection was incredible great, I will be able to charged my phone from Seattle to Taipei and from taipei to Bangkok I won’t be able to do so flight attendant told me that because I don’t have the original iPhone charger connection has nothing to do what type of charger I have so she said there is nothing she can do about it. Foods : from Seattle to Taipei were ok no flavor , from Taipei to Bangkok I have chicken teriyaki the rice is overcooked all the flavor stuck on the aluminum wraps , breakfast the congee was on point and delicious. Will I recommend anyone to fly with Eva air go for it so you can experience yourself for myself I won’t fly with them again I’m gonna stick with Singapore airlines instead.

I liked that they gave us a couple of meals and drinks but the meal was not good and not many options especially if we are seated in the back of the plane.

Never went. Got rescheduled with Phillipine Airlines to Bali, which was fine.

I am really satisfied with Eva Air and will definitely fly with them again.

Again on this leg the WiFi wouldn't work. The seats were comfortable with adequate cushion and space between seats for my legs. Very nice 3-hour flight.

UA discouraged people to choose seat on economy class by charging about three times of another airlines. For example, ANA will charge USD60 to choose an aisle seat but UA is charging USD 219.

Roomy airlines. Friendly staff. Timely service. Temp was warm during the flight.

As usual the flight from AUS in Austin to SFO was late because they didn’t have adequate staffing to board the plane on time creating a 1 hour delay, which resulted in me missing my flight to Osaka due to a missed connection. When I got to the gate 10 minutes late after landing exactly the time the connecting flight was taking off, I saw my flight to Osaka sitting at the gate and that gates had closed. I attempted to contact United Via chat on the United App and was given the runaround and passed between 2 separate “agents” who after saying they could rebook me, told me I needed to go to ANA even though they’re partners and all of my ticketing was through United. After going to ANA’s gate at SFO to try and get help I was told I would need to leave and go to United’s ticket counter in order to get help. The ANA agents said that it was United’s issue. An hour after running to try to make my flight I got to the United counter. I showed the agent my itinerary and she helped as much as she could. I was booked on a flight that would occur 13 hours after my original flight to Osaka and given $45 in vouchers which doesn’t cover much at SFO. I had also spent 30000 miles with United to get an upgrade with more legroom. And that was not refunded to this point. Ultimately I lost 1 whole day of vacation in with my wife and kids and, the 30000 airline miles and I’m out the money and time I spent. In these situations United and their partners should go out of their way to communicate and accommodate but I was left to my own devices to find the right resources. The only option was to fly to Seoul 12 hours and take a connecting flight to Osaka: I am a United Skyniles member and would not recommend booking a flight with them unless you thoroughly understand the routes as it is likely you will be left to your own devices to resolve the situation.

The food was terrible and totally inedible. If you are flying with ANA/United bring your own food it was a long flight to be hingry

Staff at gate and crew on plane efficient and friendly.

I thought I bought the ticket directly through Kayak not a 3rd party

I like that we made it faster than regularly scheduled. Everything else was poor. The boarding was slow and chaotic. One person was screaming instructions to people that didn’t understand and there was only one camera so boarding was slow. The crew was not very friendly and one stewardess was extremely rude to everyone the entire flight. The food was not good and not themed to the country we were going to like every international flight I’ve taken. Lastly the seats were awful. After this flight I would never recommend United and will actively avoid booking another flight through them.

When I checked in, it printed two bag tags. The helper said they would cancel the other. They canceled both and my bag was left behind

The ladies are great seats should be a little bigger!

Couple of hours delayed, we had to re-booked our Shinkansen reservation twice. United Aiines need to improve their time!

Very good flight. Crew was great. No issues and we even arrived early.

The flights are constantly late anymore, and they won't even give you a glass of water on the plane. For years, they were able to do a service on this flight from Atlanta to Knoxville and Knoxville Atlanta now they say it's too short of a flight. You can't even get a quick drink of water.

Flight got canceled 4 times, missed my connecting flight due to delays, have to wait to go home tomorrow

Third flight in two months where the crew was not there. Comfort seating does not guarantee overhead bin space. Passengers with children are allowed on the plane first - if you are flying to and from Orlando, this means half the plane has boarded before you get on. And somehow all the bin space is taken up. 3 out of 5 flights have had issues with equipment or procedure. Some of these instances caused the flight to be delayed because of a "nuisance" light. One time it was a bag that had been brought on board but did not belong to anyone so we had to return to the gate. Last night we were told the "AC" on the plane doesn't work well and we're 10th for take off- because the crew was late - and that it will get cool when we're in the air. Not sure if this is usual, but I didn't think flight crew could jump seat in first class. Movie and TV selection has not been refreshed for several months- flying one to two round trips each month easily exhausts the list of content.

Great experience nice pilot very soft and easy landing and take off

We sat on the runway for over an hour before departure. That was unwelcome.

Horrible. Faucet in sink not working, wifi not working. Didn’t bring food or snacks

Flight was delayed before take off and at landing. Baggage took 20 minutes. Flight crew would not serve full soft drink and had to ask multiple times before receiving water.

From checking to boarding, it was a seamless experience. The service agents were so helpful. The flight crew was so pleasant.

Gate agent showed up 20 minutes before boarding and was not at all friendly. Had to take this flight due to the one on the day before being cancelled and any later options were already full with long standby lists. Despite having paid for Delta Comfort seats, Delta did not allow me (or anyone) to choose their seat. The agent assigned them for everyone just prior to boarding. Self seat selection was allowed on the original flight. Flight staff was great - very friendly.

The service was better on this flight from the long haul one, but still very poor from The Cathay Pacific of the past.

The plane was dirty, the seats were torn and broken, the service was the most terrible ever, the bathroom dirty, they will not even serve water you had to request it, the meals were terrible, overall less than Zero, I will never fly Cathay Pacific again.

Despite the crew's rough day, they were all very focused and friendly. The flight was too short for a meal, so no rating on that. Re. the AA app. It still isn't ready for prime time. AA works with Cathy Pacific for international flights to LA and the Aa jump to PHX. But the AA app can't find my trip and this can be problematic with flight delays and regatings at LAX.

Was not able to board flight because boarding pass name did not match passport name and no one caught it.

Had a bad experience with crew member coming back Hong Kong to la the person next to me one of the passenger have taken video and picture of crew member the person that served meal young kid late 20' s 6 5'10 had attitude at his peak anything I asked for I don't know if it was bad day or racial I felt humiliated as people could see difference towards me I no problem with Cathy and my whole family never had one was very disappointed

Frequently flyer number should and could have been put on at the time of booking as I gave the number when booking.

Very attentive crews Flight was very smooth and safe Only little disappointment was the slight delay of departure (~30 minutes ) which rarely happen with CX flights

Not at all satisfactory. I had stomach upsets after taking food. Quality of Asian vegetarian meal was awful. Further there was no snacks/ fruits/ biscuits available as in between snacks.. only peanuts and pitzels.. except courteous staff rest of my experience was far from satisfactory

Staff was very courteous. Plane was clean and quite spacious even in the last rows. Veg food could have been better.

Later on, when there was no more bottled water, the water we received had a strong chlorine/disinfectant odor. On my flight from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, there was a male flight attendant who had a mean attitude throughout the whole trip, and he was very impatient during meal service “Furthermore, we purchased a Hong Kong SIM card as part of our flight package, but we received no instructions—neither by email nor SMS—on how to activate or use it. Consequently, we were unable to use the service at all. We request a full refund, as this appears to be a deceptive charge

Lost one piece of luggage even though I checked in 2.5 hours before the flight

It was Swiss. Our kosher meals were literally frozen solid and therefore inedible, and the crew didnt care.

For the expense of first class, the seats could have been nicer and higher tier snacks would have been nice.

The boarding process on the departure from LA was rather slow even though I was in Group 1. For first class, I was not expecting to have to pay for Wi-fi but I did and then the wi-fi was spotty. The entree was surprisingly good and so that was a pleasant surprise. However, once I got to Houston, it was terrible. Unfortunately there was bad weather but the constant gate changes for my connecting flight was difficult to manage due to having to navigate back and forth between different terminals.

We used Kayak to reserve our tickets and specifically checked the luggage option which was a more expensive option. When we arrived at the terminal we had to pay an extra $90 per suitcase for the three passengers. This has been a pattern for the past 3 years. Why charge for a more expensive luggage option, and the ticket price not include luggage?

They delayed the flight 3 hours because it wasn't full they moved us to 5 different gates probably the worst airline ever not even spirit is this bad.

Very easy ! Use the kiosk and bag drop and right to security within 10 min

Checking bag at terminal was horrible. No agents to check us in and only 1 kiosk working. Boarding went ok. Crew onboard was very scattered rained. Missed our row while serving and then didn’t see them hardly again.

Crew was amazing, takeoff wonderful. The bathroom was disgusting from before takeoff the odor made the flight uncomfortable as you could smell the bathroom from the center of the plane where we were sitting. Smelled like raw sewage. My daughter was throwing up as we landed due to the smell and horrible turbulence as we approached Newark.

Airline tickets are not cheap. You expect reliable competent service. Thanks to canceled flights and botched transfers we arrived at our destination two days late. This is not acceptable
