Location was the best thing Nothing in particular but it could be less pricey
Attention to detail; Aesthetics; Quality of room; Great amenities; Blue Duck Tavern Pillow too high/mattress a little too soft for my liking, but that I suppose is nothing more than my personal preference.
Service and public areas what you would expect from this mark. Rooms are a bit tired.
liked the happy hour, friendly staff, bathrobes, lovely decor, large rooms, fluffy pillows lobby layout was a bit confusing, i got lost on my way up to my room. Bathrobes could have been newer and softer
The location was good. The staff was pretty good. The style was what I was expecting, upscale and modern. The pool was small and full of children and toys. Not the relaxing environment I was expecting. The elevators were very small and always full. Our room felt cramped. You could barely fit between the end of the bed and the dresser and I am not a wide person. The shower head did not have enough pressure. We found 2 bugs in the shower. There was no soap for the shower. Our room backed up to a maid closet and was near the elevators which were both loud and could be heard throughout the night. Parking cost $45/day and there is really no other options nearby. None of these things are major problems but at $200/night I expected better.
Happy Hour, Coffee/Tea and Juices in the morning, and an ultra modern sleek hotel. Besides the pool being a letdown (definitely not sanitary) Pool was definitely not up to par. They do not consistently filter the water in there therefore the water stays stagnant. There is barely any sunlight that enters the courtyard too.
Friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Nice modern decor. No in room coffee
Nice design/vibe Caveat this with the fact that I travel monthly for business and see a lot of hotels: 1. Mattress was sub-standard. Sat down on it and was like "uh oh." 2. Walls were thin. I could hear neighbors snoring and the exact words in their phone conversations...until midnight. 3. Room was small. The only place with enough room to do a push-up or sit-up is by the door.
Manager and front desk personnel are incompetent. Very unhelpful and will say anything to defend their own stupidity and faults rather than accommodate their hotel guests.
Great location. Very clean room and bathroom. Great ambiance in the area. The air conditioner in the room would keep automatically changing to the heater setting.
Good location Several smokers on our floor.
Extremely impressed by staff, facilities, comfort, cleanliness and overall level of quality.
Very nice, large, clean rooms. Under construction. Gets noisy well before 8am says it's in Georgetown but really it's east of it. Not a lot walking distance
Near perfect stay Everything very pricey, but not out of line with the area.
From the staff to the amenities, enjoyed the room, restaurant and proximity in DC. WiFi in room should be free and food pricey.
Overall, a nice hotel and had a good stay. I especially enjoyed the gym, which was the best hotel gym I've ever tried - had a lifting platform, power racks, and dumbbells going up to 120 lbs. My only complaint would be the daily parking fee, nearly $50 a day. Nearby garages seemed to be charging $20-$25 a day.
Very nice hotel. Lobby was well designed and appealing. Room was spacious and welcoming No major dislikes.
Clean, beautiful room, bed was very comfortable, good food. the air conditioner was noisy.
Overall hotel was in great condition and price was right. Wireless charge of like $15 is ridiculous in this day and age.
Facility was quiet, clean and showed a high level of attention to detail. Concierge was very helpful for dinner recommendations and provided a perfect location that was not readily found via standard web based search. Gym staff was inattentive and actually were playing 2 types of music very loudly at the same time!
We arrived at 8AM...check in is 3PM...obviously the hotel is in change over mode, trying to check customers out and cleaning rooms...the place was very busy (sold out the night before) with about 50 people in the lobby checking out and having breakfast...we were staying there for the 1st time as my son is starting college there soon...we were also looking for a place to return to every time we come to visit. Tina the hotel manager noticed us off to the side and came over to greet us. She returned after 5 minutes and told us to go to the front desk she has a room for us to check into right now!! Tina I was very impressed...you gave us the ability to check in, freshen up and carry on with our plans. the entire staff was very friendly and helpful, hotel was nice and clean, good location, and great breakfast...AND now we know where we will be staying for the next 4 years! See you in October for our next visit. nothing
Closeness to Georgetown U and sights Sofa bed was very uncomfortable and rooms could use updating.
Great location and continental breakfast included.
The location was great! It was quiet and the room was a great size. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The best was the cost of the room which we got a good deal booking on line ahead of time for our weekend trip. It was a little hard to find. There were no visible signs that the hotel was there.
Everyone who worked there was so helpful and kind. The included breakfast had a ton of options, and there was something for everyone. The room was HUGE, and it had all the amenities (and more) that anyone would need. The place was spotless, and the location was great! I loved my stay here!
Large amount of space, with separate bedroom, kitchen and sitting area. Free breakfast was a nice touch, though a bit limited in selection. Location is fantastic, with entrance less than a block off of M Street which is the main shopping / dining street in Georgetown. Staff was very nice, and provided great service with any requests. Interior is need of updates. Kitchen appliances in almond yellow 70's style. A bit of mold noted in caulking in shower / bath corners, broken light cover above sink mirror. Experienced a backed up toilet and bathroom fan cover falling off during the stay. Room doors slam exremely loudly, so don't plan on sleeping in past 8am when other guests are leaving their rooms for the day / check-out. However, if you get a good price for a room here, these are not showstoppers and I would keep this an an option for future visits, depending on price.
Location is convenient, close to everything in the nice area Huge suites with comfortable beds and robes provided. Kitchen seems to have everything you need. Higher floor rooms are quiet of you don't open windows Carpet seems dirty, even though not that old. We found a clothing pin on the floor on the second day of stay - do they even vacuum? Air conditioner is very loud, we turned it off right the way. Thankfully the weather wasn't hot so it was ok for us. Safe was broken when we came in. They tried to fix it, didn't have parts. Safe stayed broken for four days- no calls or explanation. When I mentioned that I am not comfortable with open safe, I was told that I am accusing their housekeeping of stealing and they will call police. Nothing ever went missing and I never claimed anything- what were they talking about? The worst came at the end of our stay. My child needs a medication that requires refrigeration. This was one of the main reasons we choose a suite with kitchen for our stay. On the last day our plane was leaving long after the checkout time so asked Mr. Erick at the front desk to possibly put ice packs in the refrigerator for a day. First, he said that they are fully booked so he doesn't have a refrigerator available. When I explained that I am in a bind and no idea what to do, all of a sudden he had a room available. With one caveat- he wanted $125 for a few hours that we would keep ice packs there. He explained to me that this is business and he doesn't care about sick child and my medication. This incident completely ruined our experience - hotel lost customer and gained a negative review in social media.
Staff accommodated a change room request and were apologetic with the wait time associated. Have stayed here before, would again, and recommend for a decently priced Georgetown hotel. Very close to shopping and restaurants. I received an email to check in using Kayak. In doing this I requested a quiet room above all other features but received a room right above the lobby where the cars drive in. The hotel changed my room but I did have to wait for a new room for at least 45 minutes. I'm not sure if this was the hotel's or Kayak's fault.
The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable on how to get to all activities and landmarks. The hotel is located right in the middle of everything that you want and need. Five stars!
Great location. Helpful staff.
The suites are near a bus line and a straight shot to the monuments via Pennsylvania Ave. Located amidst a very pleasant and walkable neighborhood there are tons of shops and a canal running next to it. Very reasonable parking. Lack of room service...not too much a bother in the area...but would be a boon.
Small clean room, comfortable bed. I would stay here again.
Location very convenient, Staff very professional and friendly. Hotel very clean The elevator doors difficult to use and the rooms a bit small
Nice room service Lift was very old, breakfast was not good after paying $5, don't have a bothtob. We paid $125 after tax per night for the double bed room, I don't know what we should expect for that price. We stayed for 5 nights.
Friendliness of staff, location No help getting up stairs with luggage. Poor TV offerings.
The Baron was just right for my son and I. From the old-fashioned elevator to the comfy beds and clean room, we loved it! The rooms are small, probably wouldn't be as comfortable for a family, but it was perfect for us. Our check-in clerk was helpful and friendly on Sunday night. Unfortunately, the rest of the stay there was a different clerk and he wasn't friendly or helpful. My son and I kept wishing the other guy would be there! If you like the conveniences of a newer, chain hotel, you won't be happy. No ice machine, old elevator, small rooms.
The location is very convenient to tour DC. Parking a rental car is a bit of work because they only have street parking for a few cars in front of the hotel. the restaurant in the basement has great beer and food bar food entrees. The staff are nice people. I appreciated chatting with them. Other good restaurants and Starbucks near y. Difficult car parking. A bit old. Rooms a bit small. The elevator with manual door. These inconveniences were worth it to get the price and good location.
The bar underneath the hotel was the best thing about this stay. It is also close to the circle and the metro. The keys had to be replaced at least once a day. And if you can in later than 9 there was no one at the front desk to help replace the keys.
The room was clean. Cigarette smoking washing in front of the entrance from the connected bar. Would be nice if smokers smoked somewhere other than the front door to the hotel. A little expensive too.
The only positive part of my stay was leaving the morning after. The hotel is extremely outdated in style, functionality and accommodations. After driving around for 45 minutes looking for parking we finally checked in. At check in, they charged me another $15 for taxes. Taxes based off of the Booking.com charge plus their taxes. The room started at $75 and jumped to $109 after the website fees and taxes, then $125 after the hotel taxes!! After trying to squeeze through the 60 year old elevator doors (I'm not a big guy) we made our way to our room through the hallway tilting toward the stairwell. Once we got to our room is was just as cold as it was outside (25*) and it was the most pathetic looking hotel room I've ever paid for. I can't believe I spent over $40 for this. The heater tried to keep the room warm all night but it was not doing so and it was extremely loud. Our bed had to be the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on. I considered sleeping on the floor to be more comfortable. I was charged for a "Queen" room which clearly stated a queen sized bed. We definitely did not have a queen sized bet, double at most. After not sleeping at all that night, we left just as early as the sun came up. I told the employee at checkout about the bed and his response was "I'll have to tell my manager it was uncomfortable". If you are in DC, AVOID this hotel at all costs. Our second night in DC we found a 4 star hotel and paid even less! I would love my money back for our visit but I have a feeling that won't ever happen.
I book hotel for my parents as it's walking distance from embassy. They said stuff was friendly Room was tiny and old. Food in restaurant wasn't delicious.
Not at all what was advised. Don't stay here
The staff of the hotel is excellent.
location, however many other hotels in the area. Very comfortable bed. Large Bathroom. Small room. But overpriced.
wonderful hotel, nice room with a beautiful bathroom. walking distance to lincoln memorial etc pary at the square below was kinda noisy
Central location to shops and restuarants. No real negatives.
The cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere. Relatively small lobby when compared to other Westin's.
Our room was nicely appointed and well designed. The staff, although limited in numbers, were very nice and accomodating. We were happy to have a quiet room, as requested, with a super comfortable bed with beautiful linens. I wish every hotel experience was this great! I have to mention the perfect location for sightseeing, walking and shopping.
Responsiveness of the staff Attempt to park in such a small area
As of Aug 31, the lobby was undergoing renovations. I didn't know that prior to my arrival. Not a big deal, my room was perfect. Just a heads up for future goers. Valet parking was $45/day, but you can come and go as you please. They do have self parking that's a bit cheaper. Pick your poison.
Friendliness of the staff. The room was very nice for the price. Overall we were very pleased with our overall experience at the Westin and would definitely stay there again or recommend it to other travelers. The breakfast buffet should have included stock in the hotel for the price charged. The price was way too high. We had dinner in the hotel also and the price was quite reasonable and the food very good; which is part of the reason we were so shocked when our breakfast buffets cost nearly as much as our dinner the night before.
I loved the location Renovations starting at 8am (ie- removing tile from the room above us). We did not have working water for over 12 hours!!! Our final bill had a $500 charge for our last night's stay.
Very close to Georgetown. Also the bed was very comfortable!
Signed up for a 3 person hotel room - was changed an extra $20 for a double bed attached to a dolly so that we all had a place to sleep....I guess the room can fit three but not the beds...beware. The concierge asked "will all three of you be sleeping in the king size bed?" I said "No, of course not. I signed up for a 3 person room..." anyway lost $20....
The front staff was wonderful! The pillows were too soft. Too far from Metro.
Great hotel in a great location. Staff, breakfast, evening cocktails and rooms were great. Overall quality of hotel was excellent.
We appreciated the locaction, nice neighborhood and its easy access to the metro and restaurants. We also enjoyed the convenience of having breakfast basically outside our door, and a good breakfast at that. Enjoyed our stay, Everyone was cordial, especially Mark, The only concern was the air quality in the rooms. When we would return from an outing the rooms seemed to have a dry stall odor to them.
Very clean room and cordial staff.
Nice hotel, located in a convenient location. Huge rooms. Good breakfast. Expensive internet connection.
room size breakfast happy hour staff convenience location room could have been a little cleaner
Nice hotel. Great brunch and cocktail hour. Great location. Parking exorbitant- $42 a day. Entry and exit to parking lot a pain. Internet access spotty.
Free Food Too close to that damnable institution.Hated walking through GWU on every trip to the mall.Get rid of those those idiot kids hanging around. From what I saw an education looks far fetched for those imbecils, maybe its all about a good brain washing anyway.
spacious, clean and very comfortable room; nice and pleasant hotel setting few and slow elevators; families with kids all over
the staff always had been very friendly and helpful, In the lobby there is the pond with the koicarps, which is very beautiful, the rooms are comfortable and the service is efficient, courteous and friendly
Free continental breakfast, free snacks and drinks in the evening, spacious rooms, friendly staff. We were stuck there in a blizzard and still managed to have a great time! Having a suite allowed us a lot of freedom since we were traveling with a toddler that has an early bedtime. Nothing.
Our room was clean. Room extremely small. Limited closet and bathroom space.
Nice bed and bathroom area. Staff was nice! The window treatments did not cover entire window. The rooms are paper thin meaning the outside of the room is able to be heard and will wake you up. It was so bad that you could hear low voice conversations as well.
Excellent location, friendly staff, didn't mind the small room. Lots of early morning noise outside the windows and also from the floor above.
We enjoy the location, shops near by, the sight around, people were very friendly, too much to do in such a short time. Well, we tought the parking was included in our bill, but apparently it wasn't. It would be nice if you let us know beforehand.
The bed was great. I was surprised to not have to pay for valet parking aside from the gratuity. The location is great but the rooms are noisy. All night I heard the TV and bathroom in the next room. I could also hear people walking and talking in the hallway. I know it is an old hotel but these are not things I would expect given the price. Also the check-in time is to late in the day. The service in the Grill was horrible. They seemed completely overwhelmed with the number of tables being serve. I actually had to go looking for our waitress to get my tab. Again, not what I would have expected. Bottom line - over priced and not recommended.
Super friendly staff and great breakfast experience. Super attentive staff when needed extra towels, etc. Leaky faucet in sink in kitchenette. Dual outlet only really one outlet. Had to choose CPAP over reading light.
Much quieter than we expected, given its location. Lobby is kinda cramped. Parking is pricey.
