(SNA/SFO) From ease of arrival at check in by Alaska Airlines staff to the airport security at SFO providing assistance to help me guide my ride to pick me up the best description of where I was to ease pick up. That’s not to mention the Alaska staff that allowed me to move my flight up to accommodate my schedule or the excellent staff at the gate and on the plane. Very nice experience!

Cons: This is the second time in 3 flights with Alaska that they’ve bumped my seat at boarding time from a nice aisle near the front to a window near the restrooms. I’d gladly have volunteered if asked, but they didn’t ask. This most recent flight, the beverage service was extremely slow - it took nearly an hour for them to get down to my relocated seat. By then, it was nearly time to land, so I barely had time to finish. I’ve noticed the cups are smaller now as well. I usually fly rather than drive for the holidays, I think I’m done with flying.

Cons: They had ressigned seats and put me in the middle of a full row, in front of the emergency exit, so the seat would not recline. The head rest was made for a tall man, and its position made me lean forward until my neck hurt. The movie selections were good, but the earphone jack didn't work well enough to hear the dialog. They let me move to another seat and the earphones didn't work there either. After trying two different earphones they concluded the jack was bad. Also the seats were smaller and there was less leg room than the Alaska flight going out.

I was able to figure it out on the map option on the screen, but I would've liked to hear it verbally. Only suggestion I would have is an announcement on the plane for which baggage claim belt our luggage would come out of. I may not have heard it though, if there was an announcement. It was not difficult at all to figure out once I was in the baggage claim area, however if this was known while we were still on the flight, I prefer to know this info!

Pros: I'm used to being spoiled by Hawaiian Airlines. By comparison to Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian is a lot warmer with customer service, they are more efficient, they give you a free meal for trans-pacific flights, and they give you a screen or full entertainment system (depending on what kind of airplane you get). Alaska Airlines, by contrast, is a lot more bare-bones. I hardly had any contact with the flight attendants (when I did, they were nice enough I suppose), there was no food on the flight unless you paid a good penny for it, the seats were pretty average, and there was nothing really to watch (not even a common screen for movies, and this was a trans-pacific flight). You had to order their entertainment iPads. So I pretty much slept. That said, both Alaska and Hawaiian have good prices. Alaska had better options for departure and arrival times.

If I gauged my experience on Alaska through today's flight I would never fly them again. Really Alaska I know you can do better.

(20 minutes, but they "forgot" we had to go through customs!) 4th, double-charged us for our bags for second leg of flight! 5th, said they could do nothing about the impossible second leg of flight, claiming that their partner airline (Virgin) should resolve it, and Virgin then said the same thing and sent us back to Alaska! 6th, I discovered that Alaska reps wrote lies in the notes in the computer to try and cover their back! 7th, meanwhile, between the two companies, they wasted so much time that the next flight passed and we had to wait until next day for a flight! 8th, were not willing to cover a hotel, leaving us to sleep in airport! We are currently in airport still waiting for flight, so this sad testimony to Alaska Air may still get even worse! We'll see.

Pros: It is a 25 minute flight. It takes about 45 minutes of standing in line and shuffling around the overhead luggage before the flight takes off. So the flight is late. And gets to Kahului more than a half hour late. Then it takes 45 minutes to get the luggage. And since there is really no competition, Hawaiian Airlines couldn’t care less.

Cons: Every time i try to use the hawaiiain air app it may work at home then when I switch networks on my iphone i get the blue page in the app saying "The page cannot be displayed". The few times i've flown with hawaiian (3 this year) each time i try to use the app at the airport it fails, so i have to print out my boarding pass. The ios hawaiian app is not even an app, it's like a slimmed down browser just displaying a web page formatted for a smartphone screen size. What a poor excuse of an app. Do you have an application department devoted to maintaining this app? If so they are horrible. Go look at the ios reviews of the app, i'm not the only one. I can't wait for more competition to come to hawaii against your flights. You folks won't do a thing until some alternative airlines come down.

During my flight, they served chicken with white rice and mixed vegetables, a cookie for dessert and water. Oh, and a complimentary red or white wine to go with your dinner. Not too shabby! Great service by the flight attendants as well.
Cons: Even though I don't travel often, I feel like I've been on enough planes to know that free TV and movies are essential. Hawaiian Airlines lacked that feature. A few episodes or "series" that they had were interesting but not enough to keep me fully engaged. You had to pay for individual movies ($7.99) and even though it isn't a terrible price for a movie, I still wasn't willing to pay. If movies couldn't be free, then why not the regular TV shows? I think folks would have been okay with TV shows if the options were plentiful.

They make having meal a big deal but when you don't offer any entertainment and no wifi and for what yo u pay for a ticket is very disappointing.

I felt so much safer than I did on a similar flight operated by American Airlines where essentially no precautions were taken.

Cons: I sat next to a creepy intoxicated man during my flight and I was not helped out. When I first sat down he was speaking to me and trying to hit on me but I showed that I wasn’t interested. I didn’t even have to sit down to smell the alcohol on him. During the flight he tried to place his head on my shoulder and tried to get close to me. I was too worried to call for an attendant because he was intoxicated but when the attendants would come and offer us food I tried to make it clearly visible that I was anxious and uncomfortable and NOTHING. To make it worse they continued to serve him alcohol!!

We were given blankets and pillows. The best thing was the ground staff getting rude after all passengers complaining. They were basically saying we should get stuffed since we were booked for a flight next day same day. This is shameful! Needless to say that I will not fly this airline again!

Cons: It was too crowded and cramped and UNCOMFORTABLE and there was a REALLY LOUD kid that would not shut up and nothing was done about it.

They were not keeping folks distanced from each other, they did not make sure that all the passengers had masks (I understand that people might take them off in flight briefly to drink etc but there were people that walked right on without masks on at all) The flight was FULL. They did a full drink/snack down the aisle thing ensuring that everyone packed into that small space would all be taking off their masks at the same time (if they still had it on in the first place). I did not feel safe at all.
Cons: Maui to LAX GOOD. LAX to Phx crowded for Covid19 situation. Sat in middle seat between two other passengers. PHX to Santa Ana no one sat in the middle seat. It concerns me that such cheek to jowels seating could backfire

Pros: The trip started off poorly with a day delay and rebooking hotel and car at final destination. Not to mention our final destination is San Antonio not Phoenix. We were not rebooked for a flight from PHX to SAT. But after a few hours we were finally booked. We didn’t really appreciate the 7 hour layover at 0100 in the morning and nowhere to get a meal or even coffee. However, the flight had the same crew from the night prior and they were excellent. The flight was open so we were able to get more leg room, less waiting time for the bathroom, and pretty much one on one service from our flight attendants. With all the struggle in the beginning, this particular flight was actually the best flight I have been on.
Cons: We were ok with the hotel and meal vouchers however, again, the only part of our itinerary looked at was the first flight, not the second into SAT. Had we not questioned the agent, we would have been stuck in PHX with no room, no car, and if we eventually would have gotten a flight, our reservations for car and hotel in SAT would have been cancelled and I would have been out $1700. I already lost money but it could have been worse. Basically, I am paying for a car and room that I am not currently in. Reimbursement for that would have been nice. Either way we will still travel using the travel service and this particular airline in the future.

Cons: After sitting on the plane for an hour they found a problem and so we had to deboard and wait for another plane. Obviously better than taking a less than optimum plane but added a lot of waiting time to an already long day. Not great that on a 6 hour flight we had to buy food.

Pros: Overall good value for money for a Economy seat. The aircraft is of a recent make & model with the latest amenities on board. Crew is friendly & departure well on time.

Cons: I arrived at HNL nearly 2 hours before my flight. The check-in procedures at HNL were very poor. There were not enough operating machines to help passengers check-in. In fact, there appeared to be more non-functioning machines .than working ones which created a huge backlog of passengers. We then had to wait in another long line to have our bagged checked and boarded. This was one of the worse situations I've seen in a very long time.
Cons: Connecting to LAX through Toronto was frustrating. We were told in Dublin that our bags were checked all the way through to LA and they weren't. (Been through Toronto before and thought maybe they had changed the procedure) Airport signage could be improved to accurately inform of baggage pickup and drop off with your connecting air carrier. (Our traveling companions ended up missing the flight home in the confusion.) The airport is going through renovations, maybe it will improve. The flight to LA wasn't stocked properly with food. They ran out of sandwiches/fruit and cheese plates by the first few rows in the main cabin. No earbuds available for those who needed them. Cramped seating. This flight was with BA partner American Airlines

Pros: My wife and I have flown on many airlines. This was one of our best experiences. All the staff that we came across were ridiculously helpful and very understanding. Despite us getting held up in traffic and running quite late, staff members of both American Airlines and Qantas were extremely calming and reassuring the whole way through. Flight was extremely comfortable and entertainment was fantastic. Made the trip really easy.
Cons: Food wasn't the greatest. Barely touched the breakfast and dinner meal. Supposedly the flight had free wifi, but I honestly couldn't eat that to work for me.

Finally, I arrived for my flight from San Luis Obispo an hour and 45 minutes early and stood in line to check my small bag for the first 45 minutes. At which point the desk agent made the announcement she would no longer take bags. Luckily my bag was small enough to be considered a carry on so I just went to security. I don't know what people with large bags behind me did? then it takes another 45 mins to get through security at which point they see my 5 inch knife on X-ray machine. Which I packed 3 days earlier when I planned to check my bag. Lost the knife, fine, my fault, goodbye favorite pocket knife. but now I am randomly selected for explosives LOL by TSA. I get to the gate the gate agent scans a ticket for the person infront of me. I step up and the same gate agent puts her hand over the scanner and says sorry it is late!? There were 6 other people behind me and this is a 22 person plane. So I still not upset walk back out of the security area because TSA closes the area in between flights and call United. They get me on the next flight out and rescheduled my following flight only a 3 hour wait. An hour goes by and the first desk agent, they have been holding the first flight because enough people aren't onboard. SLB is a joke.

Cons: Not getting a confirmation email or check-in reminder. No working wifi or power docks on plane (marketed as having in-seat entertainment). Moved to the back of the plane with no recline and destroying my back after telling them I need at least minimal recline. Out of most food options upon being served last and given a soggy undressed chicken wrap for 12.00. Finally, the gate dock was not able to connect with the plane upon arrival yeilding a 30 minute delay at the gate. Unapologetic crew simply ready to turn onto the next flight. This is why I don't fly united.

Cons: When returning from Houston to LA...i appreciated that the wheelchair service was ready when they arrived....what i didn't like was that as we entered the elevator one of the workers made a comment to his partner that there was to much weight cause the elevator made a certain noise...but not as if he was concerned more jokingly...my mother is heavy set ...she and our party thought that was rude and unnecessary...they both looked at her...i was going to bring it to there attention, but what good would of it done...so please address it....there were 2 gentlemen...one pushing my father which was a Hispanic male and the other was a black male pushing mother...the one who made the comment was the Hispanic male....and another problem was the airplane was very warm...
Cons: Not only did we sit on the plan for almost two hours before they realized that the plane didn't have enough gas we sat there for a another 30 minutes circling the dam flight line only to realize that there is to much cargo in the plane that it's to heavy to fly they didn't let anyone use the bathroom and we proceeded back to the terminal only to get on a different plane to fly out

When we got to the boarding gate and we were ready to have our ticket scanned we were told, "unfortunately, you two won't be able to be seated together, we had a seat change that affected your seating." then we were asked to go to the counter at the gate to see what could be done, but there was nothing that could be done, the flight was full. So our money was collected but due to the mess up on seating and loss of our $600.00 epi pen medication we didn't take the flight.
