Fast and clean
Pros: Wait time is a big factor for me renting a car. At LAS Avis I walked right up. One person in front of me. The actual check in was only about 2 minutes and I was off to the car.
Cons: Searching for something not to like, there is a little more walking then at other airports. But that is on the airport and for a big airport I think LAS has set it up well.

Dirty, Stinky, but Fully Loaded
Pros: Liked that it was fully loaded (Platinum package Ford)
Cons: It smelled like wet dog, upon pick up it was absolutely FILTHY on the outside, the car had multiple severe dings and dents, though it was a 2016 vehicle, it already had water spots, and the inside matched the outside. The attendant also did not allow us to do the walkaround and filled all of that in for us.... and he definitely missed a LOT. Even though I made sure to mention it and point it out to him.... Also if you're flying into McCarran, this location is almost 11 miles from the airport. Close to a $50 cab ride. The building also doesn't even have the Avis logo so it was hard to find.

Pros: Friendly counter person
Cons: Counter person LIED to us about cost of insurance (said it would only be $10/day (because of our AAA discounts) which really was over $40/day!, In addition, the car we got as an 'upgrade' for this unforeseen, 1,800 mile trip was HORRIBLE compact to drive and live in for 26 hours. The GPS unit was nearly worthless! It didn't work for over 65% of the trip! We were forced to use our cell fones. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE RENT FROM AVIS

Mandalay Las Vegas Rental gone bad
Cons: I had a reserved a 15 passenger van through the Las Vegas Mandalay Avis office for a church group on a mission trip to Southern Utah. I made the mistake of going to the airport Avis, and ended up standing in line for an hour. Once I went through the line, I was told I was at the wrong office, and that I needed to go the Mandalay Avis to secure my van. I took a taxi to the Mandalay, to find out that the office closed at 3:30 (I arrived at 3:31). I proceeded to go back to the Airport Avis, and stood in line for another hour. The receptionist had changed, and I tried to explain the situation to her, but she proceeded to tell me that if I rented the same van through the airport office it would cost me $900 (I originally made the reservation for $550). I cancelled our reservation, and visited the other vendors at the airport rental center. Our group found another van for $300 at National across the hall from Avis. I did make a mistake by going to the wrong Avis office, but overall the reservation could have been handled much better. We spent more time at the car rental center then we did traveling by air from Sioux Falls, SD to Las Vegas.
