Pros: There were not enough cars available. There was a line waiting for them to wash the cars and a wait. I was even unsure if I got a full size car but I was not about to wait more. But when I returned the car I was running late and the man was very helpful

2 hour wait for shuttle for airport to rental loca
Cons: Waited two hours for the shuttle. Called multiple times, they told us one comes every 15 minutes. But none arrived. All other companies arrived every 10 minutes. Very frustrating with two kids under 6, and traveling more than 7 hours. All toll, it took three hours to get our "reserved" car. Never will use Thirty again.

Thrifty rented me a car that didn't exist
Cons: After a 30 min wait at the rental desk, they issued me the rental contract. When I walked outside to pick up the car, there was a line of 50 people waiting for cars that didn't exist (they had been waiting for over an hour). The rental agents pretended that there were cars, but they were no where to be found. To make matters worse, the agents didn't seem to care when people started to complain. Finally, after a lot of other costumers protested, a Thrifty agent called their sister company Dollar and got a shuttle to take us there (where we were able to pick up cars).

chreged me 350$
Cons: with my compact car rental, try carded my card 350$ and did not tell me. my total bill was 78$. they never told me it wa a 350$ as a place holder. if they had told me about this o never would have rented from them. now I'm never renting for thrifty again. and very bad customer service one I finally got someone on the phone after 6 transfers

Good and bad
Pros: Car was nice, clean, had a full tank of gas, and there were no issues with the vehicle itself.
Cons: The customer service was poor. We got off the shuttle from the airport (LAX), and there was one couple in front of me and my girlfriend. NO other customers were in there. About 5-6 employees sat at computers and typed away, and not one of them acknowledged us or the other couple. After about two minutes, one employee RUDELY yelled, "that's not where the line starts!" But she still didn't help us. After a few minutes of standing around without a greeting, another lady finally called me over and helped me. Then I was charged $100 more than what it said I would be charged when I booked the reservation online.

It took 45 minutes to pick up a car, 3 minutes to
Cons: People were sitting around, ignoring customers. Finally got a car, got to the exit gate only to be told that I had to return the car to the lot since "it wasn't in the system." I have no idea what that meant, but I ended up having to pick between two beaters that were left. In my haste to transition from one car to the next, I left a small computer tablet in the car and since they don't publish their phone number, I had no way to contact them directly. I called the 800# to get their number and they, at first refused to give it to me. They gave me an out-of-service number at the humane society. Last, I was told that I had to have a gas receipt that showed I filled the tank within 10 miles of the Thrifty facility, but they never looked at it. Overall, I rank this as "Bozo-class." Clowns. I won't use them again.

Long wait times
Cons: Took an hour to get rental car. 30 min. to wait in line at Kiosk to confirm a rental that I had previously reserved online. 30 min. wait in line to get car after receiving paperwork.

Pros: Easy pick up and drop off. Staff was excellent and helpful! Definitely would rent from them again!
Cons: Only thing I had a problem with was the car I chose hadn't been well cleaned. I didn't realize the windshield hadn't been cleaned; it had that inside film that happens when you only run the outside of the car through the wash. It was dangerous for me because I was driving at night and I couldn't see.

Pros: All of the employees were kind and courteous from the van driver to the ticket counter to the drop off. The car was new, clean and got me safely to and from my destinations. It was a very positive experience.

Pros: It was cheap and easy to rent the car through the Kayak app and pick it up at thrifty. Best price I found anywhere. Nice car, easy return process. Will definitely use them again!

Not a viable option at LAX
Pros: A shuttle DID eventually show up. It took less than an hour.
Cons: They promised 7-10 minutes. Two FULL shuttles passed me by with a shrug from the driver as I stood on the curb. All the shuttles came in at once, and the line was over 50 people long. It was absolutely unacceptable. NEVER again.

Pros: The car was great Turn in process was easy
Cons: Worst car rental experience ever, took an hour once we arrived to talk with agent. We got our contract finished then we're were told to go outside to pick up any car we wanted in the full size selection. Went outside there were no cars and twenty other people trying to do the same as us. Then some cars start to show up and nobody including us hag a clue about how to get your car. My wife made several trips back inside the building to receive more terrible instructions as to how to go about picking your car. Like I said what a circle jerk. I WILL NEVER RENT A CAR FROM THRIFTY AGAIN................

Thrifty return is a pain
Cons: They tried to charge me a fuel surplus fee of 13.99 on my return. I'd just filled up across the street prior to returning. They wouldn't believe me until I brought up my bank account online to show them the actual purchase.

LAX Rentals may be a nightmare
Pros: I liked that there was a car available and that I got an upgrade.
Cons: That it took about an hour and a half to wait in line, get a car, and then leave the rental agency.

Pros: There was a long line up when we arrived, but the staff tried their best to move the line quickly.
Cons: Shuttle took longer than other car rentals. Say 2-3 buses from other companies before Thrifty's showed up, but all in all the wait wasn't too long about 15min.

Pros: I credit Thrifty/Dollar for letting me return the Dollar location at LAX because I was late for a flight. That helped me out a ton. Everything else was good with my rental.
Cons: This is more a problem with LAX, I definitely missed the turn for Thrifty and ended up at Dollar because I knew they were the same company. Be careful when returning the car, the signage for the section Thrifty is in isn't super clear. Maybe I'm dumb, but it was real easy to miss. Like I said, kudos for Thrifty/Dollar for letting me return the car at the Dollar location though.

Broken car and overcharged
Cons: The first day we picked it up was on Saturday and once we made it on the freeway the steering wheel started shaking when we hit 40 miles an hour. Seeing as we had already driven far enough with traffic I decided to see if I could bring the car back Monday. After telling them what happened the representative said she'd document my account and they'd be able to adjust it when it was dropped off. I didn't drive the carvsunday and took it back first thing Monday morning with the check engine light flashing by this time. They charged us 160.00 for the rental regardless of whether or not the car was safely drivable. Pay a little more and go with Avis in LA

Cons: I was told the car would cost me US$1200.00 but was finally handed a bill for US$2600.00. I returned the car clean with no damages and full tank! I am totally devastated!

Pros: We like the Jeep Grand Cherokee so much that when we'll sell our car we are getting one, so much room, power and great brakes and above all comfortable and love all the bells and whistles!!!

Best Rental Car Customer Service
Pros: I tried to upgrade but could not due to Christmas week, but still overall experience was fantastic!
Cons: No SUV or Mini Van available, but my fault for4 not booking in advance!

Hours not as stated...
Pros: They said that they were open 24 hours. But I found out later that they were not and I had to drop off the car when they were not open for an early flight. But the man working to accept after hours drop offs was kind enough to take us to the nearest shuttle to get us to the airport on time. Kudos to him! SO glad he was there and willing to help out.

Pros: Even though I made a mistake with the reservation date, the associate was able to find us a car...the last one available of the type we needed. We are truly grateful to him.

Out of cars, the car we did get had a problem
Pros: My wife and I really enjoyed doing the Seinfeld bit in the parking lot ... "Ya see, you know how to take a reservation... but ya don't know how to *keep* a reservation"
Cons: They were simply out of compact cars when we went outside after checking in at the counter. We went confused as to why there were no cars when we were just sent to this particular area to pick one out. We went back inside and were led back outside to the compact section where we were told we should just wait until the next car is available. I got my preferred compact car (Ford Focus). It had about 50k miles on it and the transmission did not smoothly shift into first gear. Instead every time you accelerated from a stop the car would shudder into gear. Awesome feeling for a 500 mile road trip that includes some sparsely populated areas.

Pros: Dropoff was easy and shuttle was right there and waiting.
Cons: Took forever to get through the pickup line (Hour? Hour and a half?) Seemed like staff started to go on break when our busload arrived. Had rented an economy car and when I went out to get my car, the only car left in the economy area had a dead battery. Had to track down someone for help. Turned out ok though as they quickly directed me to another type of car.

Cons: Took almost 35 minutes to actually get the car after checkin, because they had no cars ready on the lot. So, everyone had to wait in a line outside until Thrifty washed a car and brought it out. A lot of unhappy customers that day.

Cons: The Kayak reservation code only works with Thrifty's old booking system, so my reservation didn't actually go through. Luckily they had an extra car available and were really willing to work with me. The staff was very friendly. Pickup shuttles at the airport and Thrifty site were late...staff said they'd come about every 10-15 minutes and both waits were 20-25 minutes so factor that in when you're trying to catch a plane. And book through the Thrifty site rather than Kayak to avoid the extra time in the rental office.

The worst... Never again
Pros: First, they were understaffed with buses so we stood on the curb as no fewer than13 enterprise buses went by. Two went by completely full. I finally squeezed on a bus and was taken to another company's stop first before gettIng to thrifty. Once there, the line was 15+ people long and one of the reps decided it was still a good time to close and go home for the night. One man was told to go to the back lot, only to be sent back inside and told to stand in line again even though he was close to missing his flight. The only highlights were that the car was clean and the drop off guy was incredibly pleasant. I still will never use thrifty again for work or personal. OVER AN HOUR to get my car during a 24 turnaround trip.

Cons: 1 hour wait at Los Angeles standing with 30 people in an unmoving line with no explanation as to why.
