You allowed me to book at a time the company was closed so I didn’t actually get my rental until the next day, they then claimed I was late so they gave it away and wanted to downgrade car class but charge me the same amount and refused to upgrade without charging me. Last minute car came in that met my class and they exchanged the car they just gave me. It was a poor experience.Reviewed May 18 2026

My experience was great. Due to me having some issues with my phone, I'm just now able to reply. Questions: Why are you guys still holding on to my deposit? Explain please because after 24hrs the money is giving back to the customer. It is 8 days now. Idk if I will rent again with my deposit not giving back to me. Please refund my deposit back right now. I had booked a minivan paid in advance a month ahead because I knew we would have a lot of luggage. When I got there, they didn't have one but said we could get a Palisaide instead but it wasn't big enough for the luggage. They only had a expedition max that would work for us but it cost me 750$ additional. I was disappointed since I had booked and paid in advance so I would be sure to have the minivan. The worker that helped me was really nice and helped me understand the charges. However, the car that I received had a trunk that was broken and wouldn’t open. It only worked for about a couple of hours. I turned it back in 5 days later and they told me that the car had a trunk malfunction and they thought it was fixed. It wasn’t because I wasn’t able to use my trunk for basically my whole reservation. They did have a vehicle for me, BUT it was a fully electric vehicle that they said was all that they had in my price range. The last time I rented from this particular Hertz, he gave me a complimentary upgrade just to be nice. But this person, Alfredo, kept shoving the key at me and started my paperwork even though I'd never used a fully electric vehicle before. Here's how it went. You have to drive WAY out of your way and wait in line with other cars (which takes about 30-60 minutes) to charge your car (which takes another 1-2 hours, it's very slow) and while your charging your car, other people stare you down as if to say "Are you done yet?" In general, there are WAY too many electric vehicles than there are charging stations and when you get there very few work. And even swiping your card may not work. I was a single woman on a long trip. Being stranded in the middle of the desert with no way to recharge was not an option. Clearly Hertz just cares about the numbers than my safety.Reviewed Mar 18 2025
