Develop a list of essentials, prepare for 3 or 4 interchangeable outfits, 2 pairs of shoes and try not to overpack!
BelindaFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jul 2026
I prefer Oakland over SFO. I liked the self-check for my suitcase for the bag drop . Getting through security went smoothly. It would have been really nice to know my boarding time was 1/2 hour later than on my app. I only found out that boarding was 1/2 hour late after rushing to the gate. I would have had time to go to my airport club had I known. Bag pick up at JFK was fast once I got to baggage claim, that was great
CherylFlew with United Airlines-Jul 2026
Don’t take a bottle of Korbel in your carry on! It has to be checked.
TylerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jul 2026
Don't leave hungry. No food on these short flights.
HartajFlew with United Airlines-Apr 2026
My main tip is to allow a bit of extra time at SFO, since the airport is currently undergoing renovations. It is nothing unmanageable, but giving yourself a little buffer can help avoid delays.
EricFlew with Delta-Mar 2026
SFO TSA agents is not affected by the government shutdown, so the airport is functioning as normal. No need to arrive too early.
MartaFlew with Alaska Airlines-Mar 2026
Security is fast. It is run by a private company and not TSA. Lines move quickly. Immigration/customs is a smooth operation.
MFlew with Alaska Airlines-Apr 2026
Newark terminal B is probably the worst in the country. Allow yourself plenty of time a patience
GregFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jan 2026
Upgrade to first class for free checked bags, priority boarding and half off the SFO lounge for not that much extra
PhilipFlew with Alaska Airlines-Feb 2026
Taking a flight with a smaller plane was pleasant, fewer passengers and.easier boarding and disembarking.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Dec 2025
Bid on an upgrade seat if you can, I was pleased with my upgrade.
MitchellFlew with United Airlines-Jan 2026
United had a direct flight to RDU - worked out well just need to manage food timing as arriving in RDU after 9 PM, very limited availability for healthy food. rental car transfer at RDU went very smoothly
ElenaFlew with United Airlines-Jun 2025
Construction in the terminal so allow for extra time in SFO. Very easy finding luggage and getting outside at Newark. Also, this time, took the Express Bus into Manhattan - $25 is a good price, though the bus arrived 20 minutes after the scheduled time.
MaryannFlew with United Airlines-Mar 2025
Bring your own food with you. Airport and airline food is expensive and you WILL need something to eat on such a long flight.
LawrenceFlew with United Airlines-May 2025
Get to your gate early!!! Very little seating at/near gates 19, 20, 21 and 22. The last couple of flights, American boarding (very different gates) has been very straightforward. The last time on United, boarding at gate 19 was bedlam. Really going to look hard before scheduling on United next time!!!
SarahFlew with Alaska Airlines-Feb 2025
Go early in the day so if your flight is canceled, you might have better alternatives than I did when my 12:30 flight was canceled.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jan 2025
Use the lounge access at the discounted rate. It was very nice.
ericFlew with Air New Zealand-Jan 2025
At least two hour connection Buy food pre-flight
GeraldFlew with Alaska Airlines-Oct 2024
Book a flight as early in the day as possible to avoid incoming flight delays.
StevenFlew with Southwest-Oct 2024
Take later flight out side of the hotel check in time. Lines are terrible. Travel light.
William DrewFlew with Alaska Airlines-Nov 2024
Arrive at least two hours before your flight.
BrookeFlew with Delta-Jun 2024
Book early for the best price. Upgrade if you can. Sun country is a more consistent experience but delta has better in-flight entertainment.
IreneFlew with Southwest-Jun 2024
Arrive a least 1 hour before boarding if you’re checking bags. Light layers due weather variation
JohnjimyFlew with ANA-Aug 2024
Layover from NRT(JPN), to SFO (US), to LAX(US) Easy if you are a United States Citizen, when you go to US Border & Customs, bring your Passport if you arrive Internationally. Remember to pick up your check baggage before moving into domestic flights, as they will check the tag for the plane you are boarding in. (They will check your baggage again). Bring your ID/DL (Real-ID COMPLIANT) with you to pass security/TSA, passport works too. SFO is pretty strict as well as LAX.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jul 2024
It is a very crowded flight, so I advice to choose seats in advance. We didn’t have that option and that was the only complaint I’d have because they put us in the middle seats and we both wanted aisle seats. My sister was able to switch but I wasn’t. She was switched to the back, almost to the last row.
Verified travelerFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jun 2024
SFO ~ most convenient People should prepare themselves for cold temperature inside the cabin, bring coat/jacket and food in case flight is delayed.
NancyFlew with United Airlines-Aug 2024
Bring your own food, shorten your legs by about 4-5" and bring your own entertainment that is not relying on any internet.
FatimaFlew with Frontier-Jun 2024
Frontier requires 3hr preflight check in even on domestic flights
RobertFlew with Alaska Airlines-Jun 2024
Bring some food on board for the flight
JulieFlew with Southwest-Jun 2024
Avoid flying into LAX. It’s a nightmare. Baggage claim took 40 minutes. And then the shuttle to the car rental place took an hour because there are two shuttles. The first is a local bus that makes a stop at every seven terminals and then it takes you to another place where you have to wait for your smaller shuttle to the car rental place.
BryanFlew with American Airlines-Aug 2024
Don't count on wheelchair assistance, particularly if you have a short connection and different terminals. DFW is HUGE and the assistance program is a disaster.
Verified travelerFlew with United Airlines-Mar 2024
Get TSA PRE and CLEAR. Life will be easy.
KateFlew with Alaska Airlines-Apr 2024
Fly in the morning when it’s not windy.
SidFlew with United Airlines-Jan 2024
wear layers as you never know if you will be cold or hot (with non-functional vents).

Sat next to toilet after booking with kayak. Last seat last row

Poor transfer conditions at LAX almost missed flight. Long walk and delayed shuttle ..avoid at all costs

The plane was freezing. A few other customers mentioned how they can’t get their temperature right on their flights lately.

The food was fine, I was in economy so wasn’t expecting more. Would have liked an entree like pasta/lasagna. Entertainment/movies were ok. I have Apple TV & HBO so I was searching for new releases. But these are just my preferences for food & entertainment. The flight was good. I like the design of your seat backs/tray tables with the extra cup holder and screen holders

Quick, easy, on time. I couldn't ask for more great staff

The app booked me on a flight for July 1st as opposed to August 1st like it was supposed to be. No problem with Alaska Airlines, except they took a while to refund my money. But it was as taken instantly. So, yeah.

Not able to get boarding pass for domestic connection flight when check in at international airport. I was told I need to get connection flight boarding pass after I entered US. It us very inconvenient.

They called me 2 hours before my original flight from SFO was to depart to let me know it was delayed and that I would miss my connection. They then rebooked on a different flight leaving a half hour earlier to a different connecting airport, so that I would not miss my connection. It all worked out and I arrived at my destination without a problem and 15 minutes earlier than the original flight would have. Nice!

The flight would have been very good , if not dor the constantly screaming baby in the row behind me. Is there a way to isolate people traveling with infants? This is not the first time this has happened to me.

Internet connectivity still seems to be touchy on these flights, making it difficult to rely on it for getting work done.

Crew was absolutely fantastic and we’re so welcoming and friendly ❤️

Flight delayed four separate times. I’m now one hour hours late to landing.

The plane was an older model, so it wasn’t as comfortable as others. The flight attendants were not helpful during onboarding. It was a full flight so there was chaos finding space for baggage.

Awesome! On time flight, early arrival, and a complimentary upgrade!

Delta’s staff is unmatched. From the gate agents, to the pilots, to the flight attendants… all top of the industry.

Our flight from SFO to MSP was right on time on 11/15/2025. No delays. As we approached MSP at about 8 pm, we circled in the air until 8:40 pm so I don't call that efficient for MSP. I think the captain should announce the delay and why. (as if we all don't know that we are just circling around the area, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down.) Thank you. Marilyn Fischer

Excellent flight, the planes were newer, they did a nice job with boarding, great service overall.

Thank you for not flipping the plane on the run way. You guys get a 5 star rating for the flight!!!

Boarding is, as it always is… horrible. Gate lice. Slow moving zones. Too many people with carry ons

It was a short, comfortable flight. It did leave an hour late due to the pilot having to be replaced (family emergency) but that didn’t inconvenience myself & my friend. The situation was explained, eventually.

Lost one piece of luggage even though I checked in 2.5 hours before the flight

Horrifying Almost 2 million miles. Bring your own food and drink. One coffee or drink every three hours. Have to order meals on app more than 24 hours ahead Tiny and dirty bathrooms

My service dog and I were asked to deplane just before they closed the door - clearly very last minute they couldn’t find the documentation that I have filled out many many times before that is for flying service animals. I purposely purchase 3seats (a whole row) since he is large and not all passengers want to sit next to a dog on a cross country flight. The plane departed with my husband on it!!! They made me fill out a hard copy of the same form and had to reschedule me on a later flight where they could find 3 seats together!! I’ve done this so many times before - clearly the error was on their part in a technology glitch - but really people - do better!! Very traumatic - and my husband had to wait for us when he landed ….so bad. Poor pup was confused and tired.

No screens or meal options. Freezing cold. Dirty seats. Left late.

Outstanding service, efficient & friendly crew, flight was safe, comfortable & on time

It was a red-eye, but the flight felt surprisingly quick. The seats were very comfortable, and that made resting much easier. I also want to thank the gentleman seated next to me, who graciously moved so my mom could sit beside me. We slept almost the entire way. The cabin crew was respectful in not disturbing us, while also being courteous and professional throughout. Thank you, United.

Boarding was again a "free for all". We were boarding group 4, and almost the entire plane was able to board before us. It's a shame that someone who follows the rules, gets the short end of the stick. Not fair.

It was perfect! I've never flown with United before, but I definitely will in the future

They delayed the flight from 9:00 to 11:55 At 11:45 they canceled the flight. I paid a premium price for the tickets with poor service

Flight attendant made the flight very enjoyable. He was courteous and gave great care to the passengers

Not good. Flight crew, was not friendly and just shoved stuff at us. Not the way I like to travel.

Aside from the little delay, overall was flight good. Made it safely. Thanks!

Over the course of 7 months of travel, I can count on my hand the number of times the flight has departed on time. Majority of the instances have been related to non-weather reasons. Would not recommend flying this Airline

The plane was spartan, the seats not that comfortable. It was like flying a super low budget airline. They charged for coffee!!! I have never, ever experienced that before.

I had no problems but the changing of planes that I was supposed to be on was confusing. Maybe it would be helpful to let people know your flight changed. Not everyone understands airports or how flying works.

Flight was delayed multiple times without giving any particular reason and the only thing that was communicated was that 'Aircraft is getting ready'. I was stuck at SFO airport for 15 hours and finally took Southwest Airlines flight back home to Dallas.

I was not clear if food was offered or not.

Agency very bad had to cancelled my booking too many changes in the flight changed my flight to 1 week

Take-off delayed an hour because of a missing flight officer, so,arrived in Charlotte lates causing many passengers to miss connections. Otherwise a very good flight, safe and comfortable, with an excellent professional crew.

I really didn't like anything. Paid for my checked luggage online ($79) and then was told that I would have to paid another $79 for my carry on. Was not allowed to enter the terminal until 3 hours before my flight and when I finally was allowed to check my bag and enter, my flight was delayed 3 times. When I finally landed, we were all instructed to "run off the plane" as they had to do a quick turn around to Las Vegas. Me and several of my flying companions will never fly Frontier again.

They didn’t offer a water, even after I asked

Frontier had yet another flight cancellation. Have never made a complete round trip with this airline without at least one leg getting cancelled. Miserable flights - dirty, uncomfortable planes that apparently always have issues since I've had multiple delays and cancellations with them.

No frills for sure. No gate announcements about flight delay, not even water to drink on the flight.

I loked walking out on the tarmac to board and no first class. I didn't like that they have no snacks or onboard wifi to bide your time.

It was a redeye flight, so every passenger just wanted to sleep, but through the entire flight, the flight crew made announcements over the loudspeaker at maximum volume every few minutes making sleep impossible. For example: it’s 2am, and the crew decides to give an extremely detailed announcement about snacks and beverages for sale. And 3am is the perfect time to wake up everyone with a lengthy announcement about how to get a coffee refill and how to take advantage of new offer from frontier for a credit card.

While booking it was not obvious that I had to pay for carryon. Realized it only during check-in. Overall, meh!

Stop changing gates at sfo. When you are elderly going back for it’s not fun.

After 5 hours of delay, they cancelled the flight. Very disappointed

My flight to LA was cancelled. I waited at the airport for 3 hrs saying it was delayed and then all of a sudden it was cancelled. Frontier only gave me a voucher and refund but could not rebook me. Flights on other airlines were too expensive last minute. I had to drive down to LA and didn’t even take my return flight home since I had to drive. One of the worst airline experiences in my life. It’s crazy how airlines can just upend people’s plans just like that.
