I happened to be able to go in with the general boarding but was one of those who was first in line within this group. My seat which was 5C already had no overheard room!!! It appears that 1 child was accompanied by 4 adults when they pre-boarded and in addition to their carry-ons, they put their foldable stroller, backpacks and totes in the overhead bin!! The airline announced a request for people to leave the overhead bin spaces for bigger carryons but does not enforce it. Flight attendants should not feel uncomfortable actually asking to whom the backpack or tote belong to and tell passengers to put those under their seats. Somehow, passengers need to be educated on proper etiquette. Also, pre-boarding should only allow 1-2 people to accompany a child or an elderly person. Pre-boarding should not be taken advantage of by all adults traveling with those needing it."

But then, she mentioned that the flight was delayed and there was no way that I can made my connection from LA to Indianaplis. So I was given a boarding pass with my suitcase ($25 paid) only to LA. The front desk asked me to try other ways when I arrived LA to see what can be done. When I entered into the gate, your CS changed my flight to UA after I have presented my case. However, I had to pull the suitcase out from Alaska, paid another $25 to United and started the trip all over again. All the while, your crews expected me (an alien from Asia) that I should have known every thing get it through, or to claim my suitcase charges. I am really disappointed for the lack of understanding. To you, it may be something happened so common everyday. To me, I was totally lost to handle this."

An announcement would be helpful to new arrivals to this airport."

After taxiing, the pilot informed us of withheld information, that ATC would delay our departure for ~40 minutes, but we could STILL try to make it up in the air. This was a bold faced lie. It was finally  9:52pm before we even took off from SFO. While idling, the cabin started to reek of jet fuel, and people started coughing and sneezing. Upon landing at LAX at 10:46pm, we were told that there was no gate for us, and that we would have to wait for an amount of time that kept changing every time there was an announcement. The toxic jet fumes started to permeate the cabin again, and people started coughing and sneezing in response. Ultimately it is 11:21pm by the time we reached our gate. At this point, the jetway was broken/failed to open, but despite this, the air conditioning was switched off and pax crowd the aisles without direction. Finally we managed to escape at 11:31pm."

Pros: "the flight attendants were a breath of fresh air. truly great client service, genuinely friendly. every person working at the airport that i encountered on my way to my flight was rude, disassociated, and honestly seemed to enjoy being petty while at their job. the moment i arrived onto the plane, the male flight attendant that greeted me was so kind, made sure i was okay, and was a source of much needed sincerety during the entire experience, as were the rest of the crew. thank you thank you."

Cons: "This was our second trip with United in the month of December and once again we were delayed. This time time not quite as bad as the first time ."

Spent hours on the phone with very poor customer service support trying to locate my bags and get me to my destination. Far more of a headache than I have ever experienced. Will never fly united again and will be more wary if ANA is a pattner airlines with them"

Cons: "We waited on the tarmac by the gate for nearly 45 minutes. Finally some sort of maintenance clearance was approved and we were able to push off from the gate. In the last 6 months that I have traveled via United, this has happened every single flight. Some flights have been so delayed that they have given me a partial refund; but many flights, like this one, are delayed long enough to be disruptive but not long enough for them to issue customer care rebates. In an ideal world (i.e. a world that is not possible every single time), things would go smoothly and no delays happen at all - but waiting inside the plane at the gate for 45 minutes is not great either. I'd like a partial credit towards a future flight; I travel with United frequently but if this waiting-on-the-plane-while-still-at-the-gate problem persists, I'll change to another airline."

Cons: "Flight was delayed by over 2 hours. Then halfway through the boarding process there was a glitch in the system and I believe that they lost the seat reservations, which delayed us even further."

Cons: "I had a child with me and I was sat in the row before the emergency exit, where the seats were rigid and my child was not able to sleep at all. Making it uncomftable to all around her."

Pros: "The way they said "Hello" to me. Other than that, the water was good."
Cons: "Everything else. My flight was delayed for weather, and I missed my boarding by 2 MINUTES, and they rejected me at the gate, and told me my seat was already taken by stand-by. Then the lady I went to see at the customer service desk was rude, and rejected me from first class even though it was THEIR MISTAKE I was booked there. Then I didn't even land at LAX! I had to take another flight that landed at Ontario so I can make my appointment on time. Will NEVER travel with United again!"

Pros: "That's pretty much the jist. Flight was oversold, as usual, but this time they over boarded the flight, caused a delay, and the crew didn't even apologize. Flight attendants were extremely rude, ex: when there were passengers on the plane without a seat bc the plane was oversold, attended said "passengers in the asile. Either take a seat, any seat available, or we will re-open the doors and you can get off the aircraft." Wow. I don't even want to get into the refreshment service. Terrible flight overall."

Pros: "Crew was apologetic for problems outside of their control."
Cons: "Had to sit on a 13 hour flight for 3 hours before they decided to cancel the flight due to a malfunctioning fuel pump. I believe better safe than sorry but I don't know when they decided to look at the state of the fuel pump which seems like a precaution to take before customers board a plane. Before all of the sitting on the plane I was given to run around because I booked a trip with a 10 hour layover in San Francisco so I could explore the city before heading back home to Los Angeles. They assumed that I would like a shorter layover and went ahead and put me on that other flight. After telling them I would rather keep the flight I booked, with and attitude, the flight attendant reluctantly left to get my original ticket with no seat number, as the seat I originally chose was taken. After the cancellation debacle they put us up in a nice hotel with meal vouchers that did not cover the price of the full meal. They also gave us a voucher for up to $200 for our next United flight, which I'm not sure I will use. Many people going to the east cost of America was given layovers that would take them 4-5 days to complete but luckily for me I was only a 50 minute flight away from San Francisco. I was no longer able to explore San Francisco and at this point that was alright with me because I just wanted to be home. Had a flight at 1:14 and it got delayed 3 times as well as having gate changes 3 times as well. Got on the plane sometime around 3:30 and made it home. The worst part was that there was a woman on the flight that had the same problem two days in a row."
