breackfast 19 euros very expensive bar excellent
Close to everywhere and clean room Nothing to dislike
Pleasant and friendly staff
Good location. Comfortable, ckean room. Good size
Nice room isolation
Great location, close to anything and anywhere you want to be in Madrid. The room was too small.
Hotel was very nice, modern and rooms spacious and stylish The staff are abismal. Receptionists act as if you are annoying them, restaurant staff are rude and do not ever smile, the only nice ones are the cleaning ladies. This doesnt normally bother me so much but they were just so depressingly unpleasant it did affect my stay without a doubt. They should sack the lot of them and start again with the amount of people who need a job in Spain at the moment!
Service, location and view were great. Rooms clean and comfortable and within easy walking distance to metro. Rates were very good as well.
Room size, good A/C, and location The shower doesn't have lights, very slippy, and water gets out of the tub when showering.
Superb rooms, and perfect location! I found some of the staff members at the reception desk a bit intimidating.
New and clean.
Clean, nice staff. Great location. Strongly recommended!
The location, the staff, the room decorations, the room service, the quiet at night and particularily the breakfast. hi speed internet, Rather small elevators [to be expected in a building of that age], A/C a bit undersized.
It's clean easy access hotel No food available in the afternoon (not even a sandwich)after our arrival.
THe location was great, the room was very comfortable with a large bed. It was noisy becasue it was on the street and the walls are thin. Also think the staff could be knowledgeable about the area, especially place to eat.
The hotel is situated in central Madrid on a surprisingly quiet street corner. Both the room and its bathroom were spacious, spotlessly clean, well furnished and equipped. Staff was polite and helpful, their english skills varied. We asked for a street side room for light on an upper floor for quiet and we got one but we had to take two lifts and walk a long lonely corridor between them. A bit creepy late at night!
the friendly doormen It was great!
The closeness to the centre The bar of the hotel was too small and uncomfortable
very good location but the rooms are too small. The breakfast was excellent.
Location is great, right in the middle of town, restraunts, bars tapas and shopping.my room was big although I took a superior room. There are no views from any room windows. I took the advice of other reviews and asked for a room away from corridor to be quiet Bad inroom breakfast. Also the morning buffet breakfast is not very exciting and too expensive
Excellent location, everything worthwhile seeing within walking distance
very comfortabe, interior design was great..
the staff were very helpful, room was clean
the decoration and attention to detail amazed us, stunning!!. beautiful hotel. staff very friendly and efficient. location superb, literally round the corner from neptune fountain, prado museum and thyssen museum. cocktail bar sooooo cool. restaurant mediteranean asian fusion not too expensive. and you might catch a glimpse of tom cruise as the church of scientology is across the road.
It was a lovely hotel with a helpful staff. Great location across from the Prado Museum. You can walk to all attractions. The room was a great layout with a sitting area downstairs from the beds. Restaurant/Bar were excellent. Hotel provided a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival. They have a free computer if you need the internet. They also provide a CD player in the room. Wish I purchased the CD of Spanish music. Would highly recommend this hotel.
location and its was realatively clean poor facilities no pool,no proper bar, limited seating in restaurant, staff didnt speak english and were not helpful
The welcome bottle of wine and flower and the fact that the maid service was efficient. No on site swimming pool.
The location and friendliness of the staff was excellent.
Great view and beautiful suite on the 5th floor
The friendly reception and needs all met in a straightforward way. We had a nice quiet room.
friendly staff. When I needed to call an ambulance for my husband who was unwell they were efficient and helpful a bigger restaurant for the evening would have been better.
only location next to del prado museum and park The hotel must be 3 or 4 star and doesnt look like 5 star and it is too expensive. The bathroom was small and terrible and after a shower water pours down, the WIFI too slow and only free for 1 hour.
DATED, ROOMS ARE LOUD, NO ISALATION CAN HEAR NEIGHBORS ON ALL SIDES AND CLEANING STAFF, THE BED WAS 2 MATTRESS PUT TOGETHER AND VERRY UNCOMFORTABLE, IM 5,10 AND MY FEET HUNG OFF THE END, ONCE INSIDE YOU FEEL LIKE A HOTEL FROM THE 70s THE DECORE IS OLD. THE BREAKFAST WAS AGOOD VALUE. OVERALL WE DID NOT ENJOY OUR STAY. MADE 2 PHONE CALL TO TRY AND GET A REFUND WITH NO SUCCESS, IT WAS SO BAD WE CHECKED OUT 1 DAY EARLY.
Room design was exactly I expected from photo. It had sitting area at few steps donw form bedding area, with sofa and coffee table wtih freash rose in the vase, gave more relaxing space after sightseeing in busy town. Hotel gives upscale/rustic/cosy feeling all together. Front desk personnel, porters, and door men were all nice. Location is great for sigtseeing and dining. A bar next to hotel was nice to visit for small drink or tea at late night too. Bathroom was clean but had a strong oddor (smell like sewer). Also, one day we were back to room duing day time to take a break from sighseeing, the noise from outside (from either roof or pipe repaire) was very loud. So we went back out to sightseeing.
The location and facilities are excellent. The staff, especially the front desk personnel, were great—very helpful and knowledge. Noise from other rooms and service vendors is a bit distracting in the evening. Breakfast in the restaurant is very nice but formal. it would be nice to also a venue that is simpler and more low key without the white linens
the good location I was deeply disappointed by the size of the room, and the fact that it needed a good refurbishment. I felt I paid I very high room cost for something that didn't warrant it. My guide book had said the Villa Real was a deluxe hotel; perhaps I was just given the worst smallest room on the top floor.
The calm atmosphere and the beautiful interieur. Luxurious but still nice and comfortable. The price of two drinks was about the same as the price of one flight ticket back to Oslo . . . .. .
Location of hotel Comfort of bed was spolt by squeaking everytime you moved in the bed!
Close to museums Over priced! Everything is outrageously expensive. Staff is not interested in the guest. No room facilities for heating water for coffee or tea. Not enough towels.
Staff was unfriendly
Great location. Beautiful old hotel. Concierge excellent. Breakfast very expensive. Staff was not well informed of the hours of restaurant.
its close proximity to museums and sites. the high cost for internet usage.
The location was perfect because our goal was to be able to visit the three major art museums within walking distance to our hotel. Parks, restaurants and shopping were also right there. The concierge was excellent in making flamenco arrangements for us. When I called ahead to check our reservation, the clerk answering the phone said that we would need to stay in one queen size bed and that to have twin beds would cost 500 euros per night. When we arrived, the registration clerk upgraded us to two twin beds at no extra cost.
Have stayed there before and was 'welcomed back'. It is ideally located, overall a very pleasant hotel. Excellent staff.
Great bed and amazing pillows....very quite despite its central location. Quite expensive breakfast (buffet) for what is offered.
Location and cleanliness all signs are in Spanish. the hotel is not designed for international visiters.
Location, the porter (very nice people) the restaurant There were no spa, in a 5* that´s not on.....
the front off staf are really help us with a perfect way & the houes keeper are more than great, just need litel more in english some department need ,english for comunication
Excellent Design. Great Location. Staff and Amenities. The bed wasn't very comfortable...and the sheets were like sand paper.
At EUR 22 plus per person, breakfast is too expensive. It is good, but out of proportion with what you get ...which ios a good breakfast.
Every thing was really excellent .. The staff were really friendly helpful , great guidance , with a big smile .. Very modern hotel , very clean and the location was really perfect .. The breakfast was not included in the room rate not even an option when I did the booking so I can include it with the booking
The hotel is very attractive, sleek and modern. The best feature is the location, just a short walk to Puerta Del Sol and tons of restaurants/tapas bars, and a pleasant walk to the Prado or the Palace Real. The desk staff were very helpful in identifying nearby restaurants and answering questions about Madrid. The bathroom amenities were outstanding, nice big towels and a great shower. Black out curtains and free internet were a big plus. Urban is very attractive and the rooms spacious by European standards, but ours on Floor 1 was very noisy. Not sure about the upper floors, but we heard everyone in the hallway, all the early morning preparations and the popular bar at night. The beds may be to European tastes, but far too firm for us - just a mattress on a platform. The breakfast was inappropriately expensive (a smaller, more affordable option - coffee, juice and croissants, perhaps?). We also missed being able to utilize some of the common spaces, esp. the roof terrace, due to many private functions. The desk staff were great but others seemed more interested in chic than service. This hotel is best suited for (much) younger people and business travelers.
Hotel decor, nice room, central location No window to the outside from the room
The room design and the location. Breakfast was also great. The staff could be more attentive sometimes. When checking in we had to wait 5 minutes while 3 employees tried to find a restaurant for an other guest on the map. This is bad priority.
the service were very good +++ and very personalliti. and very near the center. the urban hotel desezin to my test. no.
The beds were amazingly comfortable, the housekeepers were not only very amusing but extraordinarily nice. The hotel was insanely clean and had a very comfortable feel to it, as if a lot of fancy people had been through it over the years. The location is good, but not great, for accessing most of the touristy stuff in Madrid. But I found the Prado (directly beside the Ritz) to be horrifically overcrowded compared to some of the other museums like Sofia Reina just down the street. Note: Not really easy to access via metro, I'd recommend taking a taxi to/from. Take the following review with a grain of salt. I am a young person who grew up poor and wanted, for once, the "Ritz" experience: While I am a big fan of trying new things, I have to say that the Ritz experience just wasn't for me. I don't mean to be crass, but if I had a fistful of fives - I can think of a few places I'd rather spend it than tipping the endless stream of people trying to help me with things. Additionally, there is a little doll that you place on your door if you do not wish to be disturbed. Note: Don't leave the doll up for very long, because if you do, they will call your room until you answer so that they can ask when the next time they can come in your room is. I nap maybe... 2-3 times per year at most, and I am severely irritated that they felt the need to call during my biannual nap to ask me when they can come in my room. Instead of changing my sheets 3X per day, how about leaving me the hell alone when I have my DO NOT DISTURB DOLL up? Perhaps I am not cut out for the lifestyle, but I don't want/need people treating me like a helpless child, yet simultaneously making me feel "lower" than they are. Every time I offered a "no thanks, I don't need a taxi, I'm walking" or walked into the hotel from the street, I received these weird looks of incredulity/disdain that I didn't particularly care for. When I brought my own luggage downstairs on checkout I absolutely horrified the front desk attendant. Why the need to treat people like this? I have no idea. My recommendation? Take the $500 per night you'd spend here for the standard room and split it in half. Take $250 / night to spend on some other hotel's suite. Take the other $250 and stick it back in your pocket.
I loved the hotel, the look of the outside and the entry. The service is not what I have experienced at other Ritz hotels. The rooms were dated.
Staff was delightfully enthusiastic. Setting was beautiful!
We liked this hotel very much, luxury. Staff was very polite, we arrived 13 p.m., check in should be 14 p.m., we were offered to wait 20 minutes and offered drinks free of charge. In room we also found compliments, it's very nice, when you arrive. Buffet breakfast costs 30 eur per person.
Old world charm and location. Great lobby and dining rooms Room furnishings and hall carpets need refreshing
Fantastic, we generally dont spend that much money for a hotel but after a terrible experience the night before, it was worth it!
The room The location The general ambience We reserved a room with breakfast thru 'get a room' and surprised to see that it was not a buffet breakfast!!! for getting the buffet breakfast we needed to add some more money.... Not all the recommendations of the concierges were good, sometimes it seemed like they recommended places that they had personal interests/connections in.
The pleasure that a very comfortable and opulent hotel can give. The reception rooms are magnificent and staff and service were excellent, as you would expect.
Hotel staff were fabulous ,location excellent As long as you dont mind a bit of faded grandeur and pink wardrobes an excellent choice
The location, comfort and style. We stayed at the hotel 7 days and the 4th day we had to ask to vacuum the room. Only one arm chair fitted into the small room we had. Cleaning inconsistent. Not much selection at breakfast even when it was very expensive.
Outstanding location. Excellent value. Courteous service. Good laundry. Very good breakfast. Very nice bathroom, excellent shower, but the bathroom was very dark and position of the floor-mounted door stop was a hazard (several painful impacts with toes).
Splendid service.Very comfortable rooms. Excellent location. The rooms are too dark. More light would be nice.
Smart hotel in very good location, good deal if booked in advance
We loved the central location. the staff was helpful and attentive. WE loved the in room shampoo and conditioner. Is it possible to get it in the USA?
b&o electronics, comfortable but separate beds, deep carpets, well appointed bathroom even though no tub, facility was very quiet, staff was helpful, friendly and spoke decent English room lighting tried too hard for ambience, resulting in the lack of a good, bright reading lamp
the location was great It has Wi Fi feee just in the lobby, and you need a different code eny time yo connect.
Excellent location, great room, very clean, large, quiet, comfortable bed, clean, excellent breakfast, with the exception of one lady at the front desk the receptionist staff was very friendly.. I found the lady at the front reception very rude the way she talked to you, she talked down to you, very dissappointing.
Location to downtown Room layout. Very cramped. Too many ammenities for room size
The location was excellent. Very clea room, bed was very comfortable, bathroom well-equipped and very modern. Front office staff courteous, polite, and helpful. Hallways to room had a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke.
Great location, great hotel for the price.
the exceptional good breakfast and nice bathrooms
Location, right opposite Atocha station & close to lots of reasonable restaurants & bars
The room was clean and spacious. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. It would have been nice if there were a refrigerator in the room.
Location. It is across the street from Atocha Train Station and easy walking distance to the art museums and Parque del Retiro. The bathroom was incredibly small and tight. When taking a shower, water would frequently end up all over the floor.
The rooms were surprisingly clean, and the balcony overlooked the museum square. While Madrid nightlife hustled and bustled just below me, almost all the sounds could be isolated by closing the window. So, quiet and central at the same time.
good value for money, good location, friendly staff bit noisy,
Great location. Very convenient for Atocha Railway Station, Reina Sofia and Prado Museum, Park del Retiro and others. Subway also around. Hotel with a vary good front view. Indifferent reception staff. Room is very basic. TV channel options is vary poor. Breakfast I didn´t try it.
Location near rail station General condition of the rooms was fair. Sheets, towels, bedding are very thin and worn. Furnishings from second hand shops.
the feel to it.. it had a lift (not elevator). the key was an actual key not a key card.the room was big very good location across train station and on the same block as the metro
Location close to the train station.
Staff very helpful. Location very convenient especially for the museums. Quiet rooms very clean and ideal for a nights stay
Old hotel, some charm, different, nice room.
The staff was extremely friendly and the location was great. We had a room without a window. I recommend that if you stay at this hotel, ask for a room with a window. M
Location , bathroom Bed was not comfortable, and makes sounds (skweeks). Elevator is very small. No one helped us with the luggage.
Only location was good Room was very small, dark with no necessary facilities for a family only one chair, the worst I had
Location. For a tourist on a very short visit to Madrid this hotel was very centrally located with the Grand Via, Puerto Del Sol, Prado Museum and Plaza mayor all within a reasonable walking distance. The inclusion of breakfast in the price was a real bonus - the selection was vast a kept us going for the day This was very much a business persons hotel. The family room seemed to be an after thought - it was very small, dark with one corner window. To accommodate a free standing wardrobe the room light switches were almost completely covered.
If you stay at hotel Petit Palace Alcala Torre you are at the best location to visit Madrid. Hotel staff is very helpful.
very close to the centre , good value for money , nice room beed too small for 2
The location One of the rooms was very dark, and had a permanent bad smell
Close to everything, nice and modern! Never got hot water in the shower it was just "warm"
The rooms, the laptop, facilities and location in general.
location was exelent the size of the room was extremely small and the door key malfunction constantly
Exellent hotel and excellent location tiny elevators
Free high speed internet, shower, locality to subway/centre.... Lifts were insanely small
My daughter helped me find this hotel at the last minute for a business trip. It is the perfect hotel - I will stay nowhere else in Madrid. Location is perfect - central location just a five minute walk to Puerta del Sol and connections to the metro and suburban rail. The hotel is surrounded by excellent restaurants with a range of prices. Although in the city center, the room was wonderfully quiet. The room I had was moderately large with a modern bathroom and plenty of space to work. While everything was excellent, the highlight was a stunning breakfast included with the room - a choice of fresh fruits, cheeses, sliced cold cuts, fruit juices, and much more. Negatives - what didn't I like? Can't think of anything!
Location of this Hotel was great , very close to most of the tourist attractions. Easy walk to shopping and restaurants. Overall the room was very clean, however the bath tub had some stains from the water. So while I would have liked a bath I did not.
Breakfast excellent Great location
The reception area was tiny and there was no one to help carry our luggage up the flight of stairs. There's no bellhop. I booked 2 mos. in advance and was given a tiny corner room with a view to a construction site. The tv was on when we put our card in the electricity slot, and the screen said, "no signal". We couldn't turn it off by the remote or the power button. I went told the front desk at about 6:00pm. We arrived back to the hotel at 10pm, it was still on. I unplugged it. At 11:45pm, someone knocked on the door to fix the tv. I told them that I had unplugged it. This was too late to be making a service call. (creepy) My daughter found a large, black bug on her pillow, and when I looked under mine I did too! Ain't a Palace!
Mainly the location, and the lady on reception was very helpful with giving tourist information and places to go. Asked for a couples room - I got 2 seperate beds - I also put on my booking that it was a romantic get away ....our view was basically a building site so i felt very let down. For that reason I wouldnt recommend the hotel to couples. - If the price had been lower inlcuding these reasons I would have felt more statisfied.
Location Small reception area
Excellent location, very cozy. Nice terrace bar with additional wrap around balcony with beautiful city views. No fitness facilities.
The location is truly Ada Palace's big selling point! While not exceptional, the room was comfortable and -- at night -- surprisingly quiet despite facing busy Gran Via. I found the reception staff to be courteous and helpful. All in all, an above-average option for travellers looking for a place in the centre of town. The lifts are indeed small, but -- lacking any mobility issues -- it wasn't a major issue for us. In addition, older reviews made note of the lifts, so we were able to take this into account before booking the room.
location, accessibility, lovely ensuite, 6ft bed, roof terrace, very pleasant staff tried to book a flamenco night, place we wanted was booked up, man at reception recommended another place a bout 5/10min walk from hotel, same was very disappointing flamenco show was good, food was awful, tables jammed together
The room decoration - as said, the classical modern feeling of it -, the large windows on one of the main streets in Madrid (perfect sound insulation), the breakfast on the terrace with a view. The bathroom fittings and cosmetic kit (exquisite fragrance choice for the shower gel, shampoo and soap). Breakfast selection was good and fresh, excellent coffee. I found the two tiny and slow elevators extremely unpractical but I understood there was little room for improvement since the initial building's structure was such.
Very well situated at the junction of Gran Via and C. Alcala, a short distance to f.ex. Puerto del Sol. The room was great, breakfast is superb (bit pricey). As others have mentioned, there is no reception area to speak of (small), but the bar at the top is nice and after all you are on a city holiday. Short walking distance (2-3 min) to the metrostation Banco de Espana, and you can take the metro to/from the airport there by changing two times (at the stations Mar De Cristal and Goya). Recommended for the price. Small elevators yes, as some people has mentioned but that didn't bother us even with 2 large suitcases.
Excellent placement, excellent breakfast, excellent view, excellent room ! I will stay in this hotel again. The reception area, too small for a 4* stars hotel-may be is provisionally, due to refurbishment. But is functional, so there is no bad points !
The location was great, the staff spoke english, the rooms were quite comfortable, and they had good toiletries Elevators were quite small, as was the lobby. Room lost power and had to change rooms. But they were very accommodating and it was easy to do.
