Couldn't believe how close to everything this hotel was.. amazing! Outdoor pool on the 17th floor was amazing! Urban sanctuary type deal as sunny with a view of downtown and cn tower No issues found during my stay
nothing Poor internet connection. Poor security. Location near night club, not safe at night time. Dirty bedsheet.
Parking, staff and the badroom piep in lift
Friendly staff, clean and quiet room with free wi-fi, bottled water, tea and coffee, great location walking distance to many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and tourist attractions Pricey bar and restaurant
i had a great time, the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful.
Staff gracious and kind. Television didn't work all the time. Volume was issue
Quick service. When my granddaughter and I arrived, there was water on the bathroom floor, from a leaky toilet. The problem was resolved immediately. Professional and friendly staff. Glass walls on the bathroom...greatly reduced privacy. Would prefer bathroom door with a handle.
Nice, comfortable bed. Very spacious room. Lobby is spacious and uncrowdwe. Ambulance siren at nite a recurrent annoyance.
In the theatre district walking distance to Princess of Wales. Lots of restaurants in the area. Friendly staff even offering a bottle of water to take away on check out. Easy access by subway and street car from Unuon Station. Nothing negative to report based on our 1 night stay.
The staff was friendly and vary nice. The location was good. And the bathroom was beautiful. I don't understand why they charge $1.00 for every local call. And the price was not worth the room.
Location is fantastic... I walked right out the door into a great restaurant
Great location, very nice rooms None
From the moment you arrive, you are aware you are in a special place. The understated luxury and the attentive but discrete staff mean you can enjoy your stay in the knowledge everything you need is at your fingertips while enjoying as much privacy as you need. The wood-paneled design theme is carried through the hotel from the lobby to your room, which is a haven from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Do ask for a quiet room though as the noise of Toronto's condo construction boom can interrupt the tranquility in some areas (a problem not unique to Le Germain). But the hotel has even thought of that. It helpfully provides ear plugs in the bedrooms for those who are sleep-challenged. It's just one of the many little and big touches that make this hotel an oasis in the entertainment district of Canada's largest city, just a short distance from Toronto's island airport served by the Porter airline. 1. Super staff who don't get "in your face" 2. Understated charm of hotel with thoughtful design touches 3. FantastIc bedrooms with plenty of space (judging by our room) 4. Convenient location in Toronto's downtown theatre district and close to waterfront
Rooms need a refresh.
Valet was a little expensive since we parked it there overnight and never moved it and it still cost us 35
Had to drive around for a
I liked location, comfort and staff. stayed twice in week and first room too noisy. Noise from street I think
- The room was very clean, good temperature control, clean bathrooms, nice lobby/hallways, nice pool/fitness area, friendly staff, fantastic location right near Queen Street West - A fire alarm went off while we were there (around 12:00 pm on Valentine's Day), and it was too loud and it went on for too long. I had a migraine and it was making it infinitely worse. The alarm was pulled in a parking garage, but the cycle went on about 6 times (crazy loud alarm + "there was an alarm pulled in p4, we will keep you updated" - unnecessary). But... They gave my boyfriend a free coke to give me (I drink the caffeine when I have migraines), so that was really nice.
I loved the location of the hotel, it was so close to the metro convention center which is great for those going to convferences. Walking distance from there. It was also close to King St clubs, bars, pubs which was good for night life. There was a club next door Tryst which had a loud crowd after hours at 2am but if you're staying in the midst of the city, what do you expect?? It wasn't loud enough to be offensive and the hotel front desk staff did an excellent job at keeping the "wanderers: from the club out of the lobby.Excellent staff, I checked in early and the room was ready. The room itself was exceptional, just the right size and very comfortable.I Loved my stay there and would stay there again!! Maybe refill the coffee in the lobby more readily as it ran out sometimes. NOt a big deal though.
Excellet location to the major attractions in Toronto, or facilities to go to the attractions. Clean and Confortable rooms. Good alternatives on Breakfast
friendly and fast service; new and clean room; fast checkout; just great! parking very expensive and on the street - had to look around for a safe place for overnight
Location was great Room wasn't very clean and the power went out shortly after we arrived and was down for several hours. This might not have been the hotel's fault, but there was no effort put in to mitigating the issue for the guests (i.e. providing battery powered lights, communicating progress on power restoration). Valet parking was overpriced and, considering the overall cost, this was very poor value for money.
the bed parking prices
The modern, clean room. The friendly greeting at arrival and then every time that I returned to the hotel during my 3-night stay. The cookies in the lobby at the end of the day were a pleasant surprise and the apples in the morning. The breakfast arrangements in the restaurant and the pleasant waiters and waitresses made for an enjoyable start to the day. Unfortunately, there were some guests on the Friday night who were still listening to music at 3:30 a.m. but due to the construction of the building it was hard to know where the noise was coming from.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Accommodations were clean and modern. Within walking distance to many restaurants and other attractions. Had difficulty keeping the room cool; the air conditioner would stop cooling occasionally. The staff was prompt with a response and a fix.
nearby to the shopping centers and entertainment areas car parking is too expesive 35$ and the lobby is too small
Room was really clean, had AC, Location ,a small fridge and, nice staff. Very small room for the price. No elevators. glass washroom walls. Not sound proof to neighbors. TV was grainy. Weak wifi that would turn on and off.
Great boutique hotel. Rooms was small but well designed. Good location, cool vibe. Staff was welcoming and room was incredibly comfortable. Great shower, great bed etc. Parking was available in a public lot a few blocks away. The closest lot was $40 overnight but I found one a few blocks further that was $20. Not their fault, just wish there was a cheaper lot nearby
The rooms were clean and well maintained. There is a pharmacy just across the street very much like a CVS/Walgreens in the US with just about anything you might need. I was attending a conference and had lunch & dinner there but the breakfasts at the Beverly hotel restaurant were excellent. And it was within walking distance of everywhere I wanted to go. The room was not large and the bathroom was glassed in, no problem for me as I was traveling by myself but no privacy for couples. Frosted glass would have been a better choice.
Beautifully decorated industrial design. Bare brick walls. Huge Windows. Amazing staff. No wishes left unsatisfied. Cool lounge and bar on the sub terrain floor. The room I stayed in was the Luxury King size room 31. Overlooking the crossroad of Spadina Ave and Phoebe St through 3 humongous Windows. Very light and friendly atmosphere.
The location was o.k. and the Rex bar staff was friendly and helpful Loud, small, no place to put anything. no curtains on windows - had to get dressed without the lights (was like a fish bowl). No ice or vending. Stayed 2 nights and did not see any hotel staff the entire visit. More like a hostel not a hotel.
The hotel was clean and the staff were great. It's excellently situated for a city trip such as attending a concert and shopping. There are not lots of frills but it's excellent value for money.
This is actually a jazz bar and the hotel is a supplementation to it. But jazz is really nice. I guess the original idea of this hotel is to provide some rooms for musicians from the bar below. The owner of the hotel is very helpful and friendly. Floor in the corridor of the second floor was not very clean, probably due to because they were trying to fix something on the ceiling.
Staff was very friendly, hotel was clean, and in a really good location. Only thing that would have made it better was if they offered late checkout, but other than it was a nice place to stay if you don't want to spend too much.
Location, location, location, staff, breakfast No elevator, no parking, tiny bathroom
The venue itself always had good music playing and served beer, so I was satisfied on that front. The location was the best part as it was close to many attractions. The room was small and so was the bed. I didn't mind so much but my female friend did. If you're the skyline type, don't rent here. If you're the musically inclined, low maintenance type, this place is nice.
The location of the hotel was great not that far from the coach Canada/greyhound terminal. Walking distance from dundas square and Eaton center. The one thing i love is that our bed sheet got dirty after dropping some food as we notified the staff and stepped out for 10min it was already changed for us when we got back. The only thing we didn't like was we had to check in at the bar which we knew already about after reading these reviews but it was okay the staff would still act professional with the guess staying at the hotel.
Lovely staff, very welcoming and understanding of our late check in (3.30am!), very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Cannot say a bad thing about Rex hotel!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. I wish they started the free coffee service a little earlier than 9am. ;-)
hotel staff f are friendly, nice jazz music
Not much. No room check in had to go to bar and walk through a very busy jazz club. Could barely hear the BARTENDÈR giving us keys to our room. The club was over packed and was a pain in the ass to get out of. Room was çold and t.v. had limited channels. Washroom was a joke....stupid set up. Woke up the next day and when we were leaving we noticed about 15 police officers eating breakfast watching us walk down the stairs...very uncomfortable!!! The noise is just unbeatable and you will get no sleep...DON'T BOOK HERE!!!
Rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable.cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful The "breakfast" was very limited. We were there about 8 o'clock. There was no fruit, no bread for toast.. But that didn't matter as we couldn't see a toaster. There were muffins and bagels. Not impressed with the breakfast. It was very difficult to find how to get in the hotel when you were driving. We did two passes before we saw a small sign indicating the super 8 parking. There were no directions on the hotel web site or on the front on the building. Couldn't stop on the road out front to go in and find out as it is a major no parking road.
Conveniently located. Parking available for $10/ day
The rooms were clean and the facility as described Minor issue with the A/C unit. Easily addressed by staff.
The only good thing is its location in downtown. It's not safe here. Anyone can use the elevator which belong to the mall and can go to the hotel rooms at night. Staffs are not helpful. One chinese women staff is rude. This place is served by chinese staffs mostly.
Convenient to good eating in Chinatown, reasonable cost, and with the excellent public transport - it was fairly easy to get to the convention center. Lighting in the room could be improved, and the alarm didn't work
I didn't get her name but the young lady who checked us in on 6/19/15 just before six pm..... was incredible. i had accidentally booked for the following week. She was very helpful in getting us into the hotel and changing the following day to a 2 bedroom. unfortunately she was not there on saturday or sunday. i had asked the night desk clerk her name and he said sandra BUT i'm not too sure of that because he was the weakest part of the trip when we switched rooms on friday. my buddy forgot his charger in the single bed room. he realized much later.....probable midnight or later, it was when we got back from the concert. my friend went down to ask the guy if something had been turned in from cleaning......the fellow seemed unhelpful in every way and did NOT relay the message to the day crew. even though my friend had asked him to have the cleaner keep an eye out for it. it just shows the wild swing in customer service. luckily the exceptional efforts by the young lady did overcome the guys lack luster service
It was centraly located near places we wanted to visit. The breakfast left a lot to be desired, Hard to find P3 to park our car.
A delight for the senses!
Stayed there this weekend to see the Nutcracker and spend a day at the AGO and ROM. The hotel is in a great spot without killing your bank account. Spadina Ave has character and is fun to explore on your down time. The hotel is clean (although the building may look sketchy haha) and the staff are very nice. Fire alarm went off at 5AM - that sucked but obviously a rare thing. The water pressure in the shower could have been better but I am just being nit picky.
The location was great. I attended a conference at the Metro Toronto Convention center and it was about a 30 minute walk, which is what I wanted. Plenty of restaurants and shopping along the way. The free continental breakfast was nice. The treadmill in the gym was broken. It is located on a busy main street with the entrance not needing a key card to enter. You enter the front door and take an elevator up to the third floor to the check-in, but could easily take the elevator directly to the rooms in the hotel with out any security. That was kind of sketchy.
Location and price. Fire alarm went off at 5am (Sunday morning). Seems this isn't that out of the ordinary after reading others reviews.
It was close to the Air Canada Centre, which is my only reason for being there. McDonald's is just down the street. Having to pay $20 a day for parking! I understand it's usually $10 a day, but because I was going out and coming back for the concerts, I had to pay double! Should have been included in the room charge!
Our room was quite clean, and very adequate for our stay, as well as close to our destination in the area (within 15 minutes' walking distance). A very minor detail: we discovered a used wash cloth on the shower curtain rod in the bath room when we arrived.
Interesting neighbourhood, Chinatown and Kensington market just yards away.Within walking distance of entertainment district, CN Tower and the waterfront and close to streetcars for going further afield. I liked that each floor had a laundryroom with washing machine, dryer and an iron - you can pack less and leave more room for souvenir gifts.
Very convenient location to city center. Reasonable room rate. Enough hot water for bath. Room is not clean and bad smell and it is like cheap apartment. Desk is very poor. Most surprising thing is there are no hotel lobby. They have small room which has their reception. They call it "office".
It was clean, quiet, comfortable and affordable. It was exactly what I needed, an economical place where I could prepare for my meetings. The kitchen facilities are pretty bare. A decent frying pan, and an extraction fan would help.
good amenities: flat screen TV, very comfortable bed, stove, refrigerator, microwave oven and a bath tub. air-conditioning is very noisy. When it was on, I cannot hear the TV. The air-conditioning has to be turned on intermittently if you want to watch the TV.
The staff were pleasant, helpful & had lots of information about Toronto & the area to help us tourists. Room was way too small and the funrishings were of poor quality. However the bed was good quality & comfortable. Overall, could do with an upgrade/ overhall. Felt that maybe it was a student building in the recent past?
good position, clean
it is good near to the city, required to keep the track of tourist place and guides is equireed for the new comers like ottawa montreal and quebec, etc., atleaset travel agency details coffe to be served in the rooms.2)sitting arrenge ment is required near the reception replace is not entertaining the guest 3) help is required to tranfer the luggaes till the room.
i didn't like it. it is in an area that had 2 "projects" we had to walk by to get to it.it's in a residential area that isn't very friendly. the room was not clean and i didn't like the location.
Location of the hotel is perfect for someone looking to be near the city core. Neighberhood of the hotel left a little to be desired.
Dirty. Scary. Long term. Windows were broken. Uncomfortable part of town.
Good location Room is a little small and older
location is not far from the garment/fashion district and Ryerson University. Easy access to transit. The entire property feels dingy. I stayed for two nights--wouldn't want to stay any more. There are also no keycards at the hotel--I was given a key for the front door and a key to my room.
The best things were the location, next to Chinatown, and walkable to most of downtown Toronto. Also the area is very quiet bearing in mind it's location. Finally our room had a perfect view of the nearby cn Tower. The room was a little dated - although clean. The air-con unit in our room was noisy when on, and the staff were not particularly customer focussed or friendly - and just did the minimum.
I loved the staff so much! They where so helpful especially an older woman there who helped me to get to all the hot spots around town!
The hotel was a very old building, but extremely clean and well cared for. We even saw a girl sweeping the parking lot! If you are just looking for a clean place to sleep in a fun area of Toronto (located on the edge of Chinatown, near Kensington market and queen west west) this is your place. We were surprised to have a kitchenette too. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning. My only possible complaint would be for them to have better wifi, but free wifi is better than nothing.
The location of the hotel was pretty good. I wish they had breakfast including
Good location and good budget accommodation! A bit hard to find as street is very small and not on some maps. Guests should be directed to Bathurst at Carr!
The location of the hotel was good, close to the nice shopping area in Queen street Although the location is very good, is the price to high for the level of comfort that is offered.
We were brought to a condo under construction several blocks away from the advertised location; there were a dozen cots stuffed into 3 bedrooms with no furnishings or even toilet paper. Clearly an illegal operation.
service is good aircondition is not working
Room was clean, environment was not bad, had basic necessities One of 13 people to wait for hours due to nonexistent managementOwner is incompetent - overbooking clients; forcing clients to wait for hours before he found accommodation for each of us; no apology for his royal screwup, instead opting to insult us
