This place is a zoo. The people working here were unpleasant. The lobby was stuffed full of people all the time. They charge $5 to keep your bags if you get there before 3 or to hold them until you leave. (Note - the guy working in the bag room was actually very nice, unlike everyone else who seemed terribly bothered by things like checking us in). The tub in our room was peeling so badly it looked like a crime scene. The bed was like a board. The 2 pillows on the bed were the thinnest pillows I've ever seen. The lobby was nice (except the 100 people who seemed to be perpetually camped out in it), but the rooms haven't been updated since 1911. God forbid you need to call the desk for something. There are many lovely boutique hotels and options nearby. Stay away from this one.
Bell Hop took bags to room. I gave a $10 dollar tip for 10 minutes of his time. He looked at me and asked.."Really only $10 that is all my time is worth to you"? It was my first time in New York so I took back the $10 and gave him $20. I was later told by other staff the Ball Hop was in the wrong and that I should have taken his name and reported him. Rooms were ok at best. Not super clean.
The room really needed work - bathtub was peeling, paint was dark and dingy, carpet was horrible. There was an old/musty smell to the place.

The room was not good, There were holes on the wall (damage), paint cracking on walls, damaged doors, poorly finished bathtub floor, poorly finished carpet on floor with gaps, old-dirty looking paint on walls and poorly finished bed platform.
Leaving If only this site would allow me to add pictures... The room was the most disgusting four walls I have ever laid eyes on. It stunk of sewage and there was something dried that was dripping down the walls, TV (from 1982) and the window. It was absolutely horrendous. The manager was rude and dismissive when I informed him of the situation. The maids attempted to enter our room twice within 10 minutes at 9 AM without any attempt to warn us. This hotel made a terrible terrible end to an otherwise great trip. Shame on them for their complete lack of anything resembling customer service or a freaking sponge or can of paint. Disgusted
location this was the worst room I have ever stayed in during my life. Please refer to NYC health department and have them check the conditions of room#1512. the carpet was wet, room smelled like sewer, filthy. OMG-the bath room. I was really surprised that NYC is allowing these rooms to be rented. in addition, they did not have three beds in the room and end up bringing a cot and that took them 3 hours and more than 5 phone calls and 3 visits to the front desk. we considered moving out the minute we entered the room

The only thing I can save from my stay was the location, it's not far from places of sightseeing and they have a metro station right in front of the hotel but that's the only thing I can think of. The hotel is just awful, the staff is just unfriendly and very rude, I had a problem with one of the employees and they could even apologize even do they almost ruin my hole stay there. The room is just sad, is very very small, so dirty and the bed will make you cry, we had to sleep over the bed because the sheets and everything was just disgusting. Really don't stay here is not worth it and you are going to regret booking here, I did...
Staff was very unconcerned with complaints Had to have clothing sent to laundry to be decontaminated due to bedbugs-they lost some of my items. While they did comp our room due to bedbugs, the manager has yet to respond to my complaint of lost items and additional expenses. I was promised that my clothing would be returned within a the day-took 2 days. i had to buy a winter coat (as mine was sent out for decontamination). still waiting to be reimbursed.

Large, contemporary room provided two comfy full size beds and a modern bath with a great shower. Staff was extremely friendly, happy and accommodating. Complimentary water, juice and soda in mini fridge. A super new find for this NYC regular.
Location There was an issue with the wifi for about four hours that forced me to leave my room and hotel to go down the street for a better signal.
Hotel charged a non-optional $20 'facility' fee
If you like modern, it is nice. Requested extra blanket as heater was broken (!), took 1.5 hours (!) for blanket to be brought up. I was handed comforter and duvet cover separately and told to put on myself. Not what I expect from what was sold as a 4.5 star! Also, other minor issues.

the concierge is great They tried to charge an in advertised facility fee of $20 per night. They just had signed a new agreement with pricelist e to show this being collected at the hotel. This did not happen. Front desk person was clueless. Manager resolve the issue.
Great hotel. Friendly staff. Great location. I gave this hotel an "okay" because of what seemed to be chaos in the kitchen. I would order an item, the friendly person on the other end would say ok. But...wait for it...each time I ordered and confirmed my food items, I received a call back telling me they are out of at least one of what I'd ordered.

The restaurant was nice, good food The room was never properly cleaned. I stayed for 6 nights and the room was never fully cleaned. The bathroom mirrors had the same smears the entire stay, the floor was dusty and hairy and I saw the same piles of dirt from day one. The glass shower wall had a soap scum that remained the entire time as did the bathtub. The entire room was dusty and never saw any of it cleaned. And I'm quite certain my sheets weren't even changed daily. I believe the cleaning crew only changed towels and made the bed. I also asked that they did not leave the a/c on 65 each day and i continued to return to an ice box daily!

This hotel was so amazing, I didn't expect much for the price but everything was spotless. The staff was amazing, they came up to our room 2 times a day to bring ice and they were super fast. King bed was very comfy and the hotel was within walking distance from Times Square but if ur visiting New York get a subway card and get everywhere for like 20 min at most. Perfect stay no complaints.
Convenient location, clean rooms, free standard wifi, put a mini fridge in our room for us, we were able to check in a few hours early We heard a lot of noise in the hallways- other people talking and doors slamming. It was difficult to shut the door without having it slam loudly. Monday morning we walked out of our room to see that they were replacing the carpet on our floor. That's where the noise that morning was coming from. It would've been nice to have a heads up that carpet was being replaced on our floor during our stay.
Great location, great price for the day we stayed, room was clean and a nice size for NYC. When checking in they indicated that the water would be turned off at 9am the following morning for emergency repairs. So much for taking the say off and sleeping in. Well, apparently it was only the hot water, which we learned about after getting to the room and reading the note that was slipped under the door. When we got to front desk in the morning, they asked how our stay was and I said it was good. They asked - why only good - so I explained the water situation (it was about 10:30am). They indicated that they hadn't even started the project yet. We went from all water off from 9am-9pm, to only the hot water, to - well the hot water will be turned off - whenever. I'm sure there's a better way.

Got to be the downtown location. Half a block from Madison Square Garden, a short stroll to Times Square, subway in easy reach. Staff were professional and fast.. Security was good-a doorman plus a requirement to use your room keycard to access the guest floors on the elevator. Room bright and clean, and a comfortable bed. Lots of restaurants/bars in easy reach. Overnight parking garage right off the entrance-have to hand over your car to attendant and he'll park it/bring it back to you. Not cheap, but downtown parking never is. The windows didn't have a clean seal, so there was a constant low-level draft through them and some street noise leaking in. On a cool spring day no issue, but imagine it would be VERY chilly in winter, and wonder if summer would make it a war between A/C and the leak. Bathroom TINY-one person can stand in it, and basically rotate in place-sink to toilet to shower. The shower was also very cramped-not one for the claustrophobic.
The staff was excellent. The lobby is gorgeous and I love the fruit infused water there. They gave me a free upgrade and the view was stunning as well as the lighting design, environmental graphics - comfort of pillows and bed, shower... Made my visit special and I was able to leave my suitcase while I walked around.

Too much money for such a mediocre room. It supposed to be a non-smoking room but in reality it smelled to weed. Very disappointing experience especially having the kids there. Loved the location across the street from Penn Station- front desk staff was friendly and efficient- all staff was friendly and acknowledged us whether we were walking in or down a hallway- it was refreshing. Room was very clean and spacious. I think we had a king- limited view. Loved being on 7th Ave- we walked straight up7th to Times Square and straight down 7th to Greenwich Village. So many excellent restaurants within 3 blocks. Also loved that the lobby was not hectic-crazy-busy like some of the Times Square hotels can be. I would have liked a lobby bar. Always fun to sit and people watch. There is a bar/restaurant but it's through a set of (glass) doors off the lobby. I can think of nothing else that would have improved our 3 nights here.

Location and ambiance. Great place in historic district The 2nd floor is WAY to close to the Friday crowds of rowdy people on the street. You are also right in the middle to 2 major late night clubs.
The Maritime has the nicest, and most personable staff. The Maritime lacks in some of the things you come to expect from a hotel, such as an ice machine, but the staff is more than happy to bring up ice.The only draw back is that the hotel is located right above the super trashy Hiro club. If your room faces the club, it is noisy.
The location was perfect, close to the West Village, Chelsea market, subways. The room was very quiet, clean and well organized. The outdoor patio bar was excellent, very friendly. Also liked the restaurant with breakfast on the patio. Would definitely stay there again. The lobby is quite dark and the hall on our floor was also quite dark, but we got used to it.

Bed was smallish; corridors and lobby a bit dark; breakfast ought to have been included for the price.
Location was excellent. Close to Chelsea Market, Art District. Easy walk to Greenwich Village and SoHo. Very clean and comfortable room; small, but standard for NYC. Nice breakfast. Very helpful and courteous staff. Will definitely return on future NYC trips.
I really enjoy staying here. It's a bit noisy sometimes (tho you impressed my colleague who was also staying with you with the portal pillow.) The staff are great, the rooms are reasonable size compared to New York's miniscules like the Hudson, the Standard. And everything is thoughtful. The quality of the interior and beds is impressive too. Particularly happy about the toothpaste and the Bigelows supplies. Makes it feel spa like. The staff are very helpful and charming including all the housekeeping and maintenance folk. I intend to stay often. And I have recommended all my colleagues to stay here. I'm from Sapient. It might be worth doing some kind of corporate deal with us.
Flexible and very friendly staff, great service, proximity to famous meat packing district shops and restaurants in unparalleled ! Little pricey for the size of the rooms, this is made up for by it's great location. On the weekends there's a 'real' party going on in the basement lounge and be base travels up at least to the 5th floor, if your a problem sleeper then the complimentary earplugs are a must.
Gorgeous building and terrace. Lots of light in the room. Unique wallpaper. Decorative fireplace. High ceilings. Vintage phone. Comfy bed, nice linen and towels. The staff was incredibly accommodating and attentive. Great baristas at Intelligentsia. Broken glass in window. Damaged plaster on ceiling from water leak. Broken, stained and soiled curtain in the bath window. The rooms could definitely use some love.

The staff was excellent and courteous. The air conditioning struggled and couldn't really bring the temp down sufficiently. Not enough towels, but brought them right away when requested. No sweetener and creamer in room. But, also brought that right away when requested.

Location, decent sized room, clean There were pipes banging in the walls (or else construction elsewhere in the hotel) all night which kept us awake until 2:30am when we gave up and called and asked to switch rooms. To their credit, they moved us immediately and the new room was quieter.

All holiday inn are the same and keep to the standard. Great place to stay and great value Nothing to do with the hotel,but that week was a bomb on 23rd Street. Kind of scary but the NYPD done everything to secure the area. At one time 29th Street was blocked but they made sure that I made my flight home.

Gym 5. free WI-FI 6. coffee machine in room 7. safe in room 1. no complimentary water bottle (this should cost the hotel no more than $0.20 / bottle) 2. I am a Hilton's Rewards member, but because I booked through Kayak, I did not get credited by Hilton for my points for the stay. Also, I normally would get high speed internet through my Hilton's Rewards, but that too, was not available. I find the above two items annoying for a frequent traveler & petty on Hilton's part. With the plethora of hotel options in NYC, it is just too time consuming not to use a "hotel search engine".
Located on a quiet side street but still within walking distance to many attractions. Plenty of subway stops within a block or two that will take you to any destination you want. Staff was super friendly and inviting. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was clean. Close to Megabus drop-off location. Room was bigger than I thought it would be given the location. There was an iron and hairdryer in the room, but no mini fridge (which wasn't necessary for our short stay). There are some things out of the control of the hotel; construction around the area and trash left in the street for city pickup didn't make walking for the most pleasant walking experience. There were coffee stains on the nightstand lampshade and the carpet could use a good cleaning or replacement. Not sure what the parking situation is as we took the bus.

I booked this hotel because of its location. The hotel did not have the room I was upgraded to. The hallways and the room offered to me looked well used and not particularly clean. And, there were no hot water at the hotel. I decided against staying in and moved to a different hotel.
Staff was excellent. Bar was golden after we got to the hotel from both exploring and enyoing the city. Concierge was great! Plenty of places around to eat including the hotel. Nice view with a glimpse of the Empire from our room. Rooms were clean, a little cramped, but its NYC. The staff (maids) tends to be forgetful about simple items like toilet paper or anything to stir coffee with! Location its a mix, depending on the line needed. Sometimes we went to 34th ST in order to get some other line.
Great location! We were a short walk to a metro station, Highline and empire state building. Great food options nearby. Room was clean, although small. Kids had a great time. And they loved getting a cookie everyday! We also had a view of the one world trade center. There wasn't a fridge, which would have been helpful, but the room was small, so I can see how they couldn't fit it in.

Great location, lobby decor is very cool and onpoint. The rooms, though small, were very well done and loved the huge shower. Service was just awful. First day shower curtain filthy, sink didn't drain. Second day, shower curtain fixed, sink still not working. Third day, room never made up Fourth day, asked for ice (there are no ice machines at all), never arrived. Constant - the hallways always smell like food, because the facility is so well insulated that any room service smells will linger forever, and yes it really does. Forget about sleeping. There's a DJ that spins until 4am. My room was on the 10th floor. You could hear it reverberating through the courtyard. There was not much to do about that. Only two elevators for the rooms - so you'll wait for a while to go up or down. Oddly too, you need to use your key in the elevators in *both* directions, and the key swipe hardly worked. The weekends were a joke. Bar/Bat Mitzvah's, parites, the rooftop bar.is a huge draw and all kinds of trendy beautiful people. But that meant that the elevators were packed with party goers, drinks spilled, lots of ruckus that the scene brings with it. Hey it 's fun once in a while but at Dream Hotel it never stopped. Will not stay there again. I hope you know what you're getting in to when booking there.

Great Nightlife scene. Lovely juice cafe in front. Concierge helped book dinner reservations. Banging doors in the hallway, early housekeeping service. Slow elevators at night when club was using all of them.
Good location, restaurant, bar, and pool were all lovely. Well-kept hotel. Rooms are tiny, and the staff was very inattentive. I asked three times (including reaching out once before my stay) about booking an activity and each time the concierge or staff told me someone would get back to me. Each time, no one ever got back to me. Finally we ended up missing out on the activity we wanted to do because of the staff's lack of attention.
Location was good. We got to the pool at 10am and put our names down to be told it was a 3 hour wait.
The staff was AMAZING so cooperative and helpful with any little request!!! A+ The rooms are small and when you book you have to be very careful if want two double beds, the wording makes you think you are getting two beds and its is one. Three of our group independently made that same mistake.

Room was great. Juice Bar in the lobby was awesome. PH Bar is the best view in the city. Swimming pool. Ambiance. My bathroom sink was plugged up. Houskeeping doesn't seem to be perceptive or ready to take action when they see something like this or I would not have encountered it. Also, I needed to print a boarding pass and their solution was for me to email them instead of having a computer where I could print my boarding pass. I was annoyed by that.
It was convenient to where I was working and thew staff was awesome. The room was dirty, uncomfortable, and just not worth the rate. I wouldn't stay there again.

Early check in was wonderful. I was able to put my bag in the room and freshen up before attending my LANDMARK SEMINAR next door. Rooms are tiny tiny but clean with luxury basics. Pool/whirlpool/sauna would be greatly appreciated. Breakfast excellent. Thank you. Room rates high end. Beds are full sized or small queens so Bed-sharing not real option if you want total cpmfort.

Breakfast spread was above average, the roof top bar was very good -- great views. Rooms were comfortable and bathrooms were in good. Lots of school groups, so the lobby was always a zoo. Probably not an issue except during summer.

Comfortable beds & room, A+++ staff,excellent location for our purpose. Only complaint was that the air conditioning was not working properly. Gave the illusion you were in control and did its own thing. Therefore, room was too warm at night.

Brand new hotel w/modern amenities, spacious King room w/fridge, micro-wave, safe, large flat screen TV w/ SHOWTIME channels, and free Wi-Fi. Good, reasonably prices food in Bistro. Short (less than 1 blk) walk to #1 subway. Long wait for food in Bistro. Despite being fairly quiet for a busy cross-town street, can still hear some over-night and early AM garbage trucks from 9th fl.

The location of the hotel was convenient. The hotel is advertised as a suite and only provides standard rooms with no separate seating area. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT AND IMAGES!
We received excellent customer service checking in and out, and no difficulty in getting a late 12 Noon checkout. The room could have been a bit cleaner, there was some residue all over the bathroom floor, cracks to the mirror in the bathroom.
the service by the hotel manager, reception and all other members that we met was beyond our expectation. They care about the guests and looking to provide the best service. The rooms are clean and modern and felt very specious the location is excellent the shower water flow was weak.

Chose this hotel for the price/location. Obviously you don't exactly get what you're paying for in NYC, but it was a clean hotel that was just that, nothing special. They slap you with a $50 resort fee without telling you - was told I had no extra charges at checkout, and saw the charge on my credit card later.
Nice touches were that the lobby had a water dispenser with fresh fruits in the water and cookies were served at the lobby at certain times. Staff was attentive to our needs. Broken shower head- sprayed from the base. Tight quarters with barely enough room to move luggage for 3.
The hotel was in a great location for sight seeing and the sub way. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean. The beds were very comfortable. Although the breakfast was an "all you could eat". I thought $16.50 was a little over priced
For New York this was a pretty good size room with 2 queen beds.
It was a very basic hotel and rooms were on the small size, but it was exactly what we needed. We loved that there was a microwave and fridge in the room. Clean. Small clean lobby. Staff were generally very friendly. Nothing.
Everything was 100% perfect. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, view was nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating with our luggage needs etc. I chose to be on the highest floor to get the best view and we heard loud music coming from down the street or somewhere outside as we were going to bed. It eventually stopped, and no one complained of not getting a good night's sleep due to it.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room. Tasty free coffee in the lobby. Good sound proof wall so that we did not get bothered by young group's loud chatting next door through night. The only issue was the noise of the air conditioner heater.
Cleanliness of rooms and hotel as a whole. More attentive front desk staff. Assisted others before ourselves and other guests who were clearly lined up first.
The location on 28th Street is very central and convenient. One of the elevators didn't seem to be working very well and the other was very slow. Luckily I was on the 2nd floor, so I took the stairs, which were clean and well lit. It was pouring rain when I arrived and the front desk had no umbrellas to lend. It was also very loud from street noise in my room. Inside from the hallway was quiet, even though I was near the elevator.
Customer service, reservation team and management all were pretty terrible. Provided no accomodation for a change or adjustment in reservation. In addition the front desk person was rude and abrupt when nobody else was even in the lobby. I left this hotel and went right next door to the cleaner and friendlier Hotel Indigo.
This was my first stay at Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea. I like everything about this hotel. Location is very good in mid-town Manhattan close to shops, clubs, bars.The customer service was ok. The room was big, very clean & comfortable.If you are in a mood for a Playboy TV channel it's free you can watch it in your room. I was on 19th floor the city view was ok nothing special. I will recommend this hotel to my friends & family. From 0-10 I'll give 9++++. Check-in is at 3pm. I arrived at 3:30 pm and my room was not ready I had to wait for 15 minutes in a lobby.

I checked in early through Kayak's e-mail and was surprised that not only was our room ready early, but they had a pack-n' play crib set up for my little one complete with baby soap, lotion, bath toy, night light and even an outlet protector! It was a nice touch and showed that they were on top of our reservation. They put us on the top floor in a large wheel-chair accessible suite, definitely the most space I've ever had in a new York city hotel for this price! no breakfast included, but they do have a breakfast café open downstairs in the morning. It is centrally located to other breakfast options.
Very friendly staff took care of all requests. Very helpful and provided lots of suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat at. Gentleman taking care of valet was extremely helpful and polite. Will be back next time. The street the hotel is on is a little dark and looming. Felt safe the whole time (police station across the street) but street is not as bright and shiny as the rest of downtown. Hotel is bright and nice.
Front staff was friendly and personable. They were very helpful. Luisa is very nice. It's not a major thing but when we arrived a furniture company was moving in all new mattresses and chairs. The problem was that they tied up the elevator. We waited approximately 4-5 minutes for the other elevator.
Room was large for the area and clean, complimentary breakfast was good (waffles a plus!) and in a great centralized location to Times Square and MSG. No fridge in room.
Horrible place, breakfast awful with little nutritious value. It would have better to eat at McDonald's ! This is overpriced even for Manhattan. If parking is available, it will cost you an average of $50 per night. I don't think the bedding had been changed for me after the prior customers had checked-out.
Staff was excellent
We love the location (near to the NJ Transit station and easy to get anywhere in the city). We also love that there is no "resort fee" which kept the cost down for us. A hot breakfast is included, which was great! We booked a king size bed through a travel website but when we checked in we were told that two double beds were all that was available. What is the point of reserving a king size bed if they just give it to someone else?
Location was perfect. Free wifi, breakfast, early check in. Everything was great. Nothing we didn't like.

For the value the hotel was great. The location of the hotel is very convenient to many locations and subway lines. The breakfast in the morning exceeded expectations and was substantial. Hotel is very clean and feels updated. The bathroom felt a bit small but for a hotel in NYC that is expected. Do not try to drive and park in this area, parking is atrocious and very expensive.
Our check in/out and all interactions with staff were very positive. Breakfast was good, a hot waffle, pastry, egg, or potatoes, plus juice, cereal and hot drinks. The two doubles in one tiny room were adequate. No tub only shower and the TV/cable was the bare minimum. Complimentary internet was adequate. Overall I recommend and would stay again.
The staff was very helpful when I told them that I left my wallet at home with my ID and credit cards... They contacted my fiancee via email to verify my identity and cheked me in. Very grateful, thank you!

It has a reasonable location in the heart of NYC. It was very disappointing overall, and did not meet our expectations. The room was described as having two double beds, when in fact it came with two single beds, the description of the room should be changed to twin room. The furniture in the room was also in poor condition and looked cheap, overall very poor value for the money paid.
Great middle of Manhattan location with easy access to subway so we could walk or ride anywhere we wanted to go easily. Staff was friendly, room was clean and comfortable. Restaurant/Bar on main floor "The Dog Hoyse" is way over priced for so so food and service.
the rooms were compact but extremely comfortable - the people that cleaned the rooms did a perfect job - the sheets and towels were cleaned every day
Situation and free internet. Staff quite friendly. I found strange that the hotel couldn't provide any bill with the excuse that hotel was paid via bookings.
i liked the head of staf - when she dident see the resorvation in their computer she calles the booking.com reservations and made shure that every think was ok on her free time - she was great the prices that the hotel gives are high for the facilities - they could lower the rate a little

very nice location,situated right in the middle of everything, with easy walks to many sights and easy acces to subway less than 100 meters away. hotel is nice and clean. had 10 th floor room facing backyard with some view and no street noise at all. breakfast is fine...coffee is better than at the Plaza..helpfull staff..would stay again..

Good Location. Near to good restaurants. A typical 3 star hotel given its room and facilities. Worth the room rates and good for a short 1 or 2 day stay in new york city.
Clean, classey, great views and stylish. Breakfasts were included and just what was required. Great location. New luggage set damaged when in storage with the hotel the day after check-out. Made for a miserable return trip as wheel and handle mechanism were well ineffective.
Terrific location just a few blocks away from subway and business traveler necessities like FedEx and a grocery store (Whole Foods to be exact). The room was the most spacious I've stayed in NYC for this price. Near an Orange Theory which I used on my first day there. The gym facilities here are very limited. I did not ask if there were reciprocal gyms nearby.
