Friendly and accommodating staff! Loved that everyone was there willing to help. Also liked the security of staff checking to make sure that all guests coming into the hotel were in fact supposed to be there. Didn't like that there wasn't a fridge and/or microwave in the room given the price. Room was very nice but for the price I would've expected at least a fridge.

Nice interior All staff Ive come across felt like security. They dont respond to greetings. When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity,beauty and glamour. As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.
Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.
The room was spacious for NYC standards and very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modern and kept up to date. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep our water, wine and cheese cold.

You cant beat the location, across the street from Madison Square, walk to Macys, and just a few minutes to Time Square. If you get a remodeled room the place is okay. Clean, but small, lots of road noise and no privacy due to thin walls. You can hear everything your neighbors are doing. THE SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! RECEPTIONIST SAID THE ROOM WOULD BE READY IN AN HOUR AND SHE WOULD CALL TO LET US KNOW. 4 HOURS LATER STILL NO CALL. WE RETURNED AT 430 AND THE ROOM WAS STILL NOT READY. NEEDLES TO SAY SHE NEVER CALLED. This place has college students living in half of the rooms, so theres constant noise. If you have small children, or are looking for a private place for couples this is not the place. If you just need somewhere to crash and hangout in the city it works. The location is great, the rooms are clean, and its affordable. IF YOU BOOK THROUGH GET A ROOM / KAYAK PLAN ON YOUR RESERVATION NOT BEING IN THE SYSTEM WHEN YOU ARRIVE. THERE WERE SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM.

Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.

The location was awesome It was so small and incredibly expensive for what you get. There were families being evicted in adjacent rooms. Don't know the story there, but not your typical "4 star" experience.

Location is great. Price wasn't bad. Even though I booked and prepaid for our stay, they charged us 23 per night for "facility fee". When I asked what was for, they said "it's a required fee for wifi". I tried to say we didn't need wifi, but the gentleman said "sorry, it's a required fee". There is also some construction going on, which woke us up at 730am. When look outside, there was a cord. They didn't alert us about construction, and neither told us to make sure our curtains were closed. Rooms are also a bit outdated and small.

We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service. Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests. As noted, the lobby is decidedly underwhelming although the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise, no complaints!
The renovation last year really upgraded this NYC classic. Now the interiors are just as lux as the classic facade. Great location in Times Square but quiet and tranquil retreat inside. Great service and really friendly staff. We enjoyed our girls weekend immensely. Avoid if you don't like fighting through crowds at Times Square.

2 queen beds made this hotel perfect for our family of four. Located right on Times Square, the hotel held our bags after checkout while we went across the street to see a Broadway show.
The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.
This place is a zoo. The people working here were unpleasant. The lobby was stuffed full of people all the time. They charge $5 to keep your bags if you get there before 3 or to hold them until you leave. (Note - the guy working in the bag room was actually very nice, unlike everyone else who seemed terribly bothered by things like checking us in). The tub in our room was peeling so badly it looked like a crime scene. The bed was like a board. The 2 pillows on the bed were the thinnest pillows I've ever seen. The lobby was nice (except the 100 people who seemed to be perpetually camped out in it), but the rooms haven't been updated since 1911. God forbid you need to call the desk for something. There are many lovely boutique hotels and options nearby. Stay away from this one.
Leaving If only this site would allow me to add pictures... The room was the most disgusting four walls I have ever laid eyes on. It stunk of sewage and there was something dried that was dripping down the walls, TV (from 1982) and the window. It was absolutely horrendous. The manager was rude and dismissive when I informed him of the situation. The maids attempted to enter our room twice within 10 minutes at 9 AM without any attempt to warn us. This hotel made a terrible terrible end to an otherwise great trip. Shame on them for their complete lack of anything resembling customer service or a freaking sponge or can of paint. Disgusted
The only thing I can save from my stay was the location, it's not far from places of sightseeing and they have a metro station right in front of the hotel but that's the only thing I can think of. The hotel is just awful, the staff is just unfriendly and very rude, I had a problem with one of the employees and they could even apologize even do they almost ruin my hole stay there. The room is just sad, is very very small, so dirty and the bed will make you cry, we had to sleep over the bed because the sheets and everything was just disgusting. Really don't stay here is not worth it and you are going to regret booking here, I did...

Nothing. I would recommend kayak remove this hotel from their booking options. It was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars and was the worst hotel I have ever seen. I travel all the time and use you guys to book flights etc. This was my first experience booking a hotel and I will never utilize the service again. I am having to battle with you guys to get money back for a place that was so low quality we didn't feel safe sleeping there. We encountered serious issues upon arrival. We looked at two different rooms and decided due to the condition of the hotel and the utter disarray of the rooms that we could not stay there. We are working back trying to get our money back as we had to make other sleeping arrangements.

Absolutely nothing. It was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms are from the 80's. Dirty and smell like cigarettes. Staff is unfriendly unwilling to answer the most simple of questions. The valet service is a joke. It took us 1.5 hours to get our vehicle back when we checked out.

Staff was very unconcerned with complaints Had to have clothing sent to laundry to be decontaminated due to bedbugs-they lost some of my items. While they did comp our room due to bedbugs, the manager has yet to respond to my complaint of lost items and additional expenses. I was promised that my clothing would be returned within a the day-took 2 days. i had to buy a winter coat (as mine was sent out for decontamination). still waiting to be reimbursed.
Bell Hop took bags to room. I gave a $10 dollar tip for 10 minutes of his time. He looked at me and asked.."Really only $10 that is all my time is worth to you"? It was my first time in New York so I took back the $10 and gave him $20. I was later told by other staff the Ball Hop was in the wrong and that I should have taken his name and reported him. Rooms were ok at best. Not super clean.

My husband and I absolutely loved the Nomad Hotel. The staff, every single one of them were extremely helpful, pleasant and fun. I can't say enough about the service. The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The library bar was very cool. I could hear water noise from the neighboring room's bathroom. That was a little disturbing in the early morning and late night.

My husband and I were traveling with our 2 adult children and their traveling companions, so we booked 3 rooms. All rooms were spacious and comfortable. Decor was trendy, with high end amenities. We loved the rooftop bar and had a great meal at the attached restaurant. Location was perfect. Overall, a great stay. Some of the furniture in the room was showing some wear. And the desk chair was the only chair in the room. Also, the closet was very small. Not enough space to hang our clothes and coats.

Great shower and comfortable bed. Awesome location. Very small. Needed one more mirror and had a great place on the empty wall above the desk. Peep hole in the door had been pushed out and was filled with toilet paper. Bathroom sink was clogged up and wouldn't drain even after maintenance supposedly fixed it. Didn't have extra rolls of toilet paper and had to go to front desk to request more. Also no ice machine. Had to go downstairs to the bar and they looked at us like we were crazy when we ask them for a cup of ice.

We loved the layout of the room, the cleanliness, the speed of the elevators. Even staying directly next to the elevator wasn't a problem. Staff were very nice. The glass wall separating the bathroom from the bedroom is a big problem for us. I can't think of anyone I'd be comfortable staying in this room with. If I were alone, it'd be great.
In a city where 3 star hotels are above $250 per night, POD 39 rises at a fenominal location, with modern clean and fresh look at a fraction of the price.... Staff is excellent and the rooms are small- cruise ship size, but that's a great compromise for the bvenefits you get... HVAC system was great and the shower is the best ever.... Some of the electrical outlets didnt work and could not be fixed..

Great location, at an NYC cheap price. The room got completely dark at night. I couldn't hear much noise from the street or any noise from other rooms. The hotel itself was well kept and I felt safe. The comforter on the bed was only mostly clean, and the door to the bathroom was dirty also. You can clearly hear whatever is going on in the hallway, even when your door is closed. The bed wasn't sower comfortable.
It was my first trip to New York. I was really impressed by the staffs and everyone at Pod 39. Very efficient and valuable hotel in New York. The location is very convenience. The hotel room was comfortable for one person or two people. I'm surprised of how clean the room was. The hotel maintain the cleanliness very well. Very reasonable prices. I wish they had a small fridge.

I really enjoyed my stay at Pod39. The hotel was very nicely decorated, definitely a "trendy" hotel. I know they have many room options - I stayed in the bunk bed room which was very small and New York-like. The beds were really comfortable. I would most recommend this place for people traveling alone or with a small group (although the bigger rooms might be good for families - there is a bar/restaurant attached to the lobby, though, so keep that in mind). The price was quite good for an NYC hotel, and the location was great - I was able to walk to all the Broadway theatres as well as Koreatown near Herald Square. Also fairly close to a subway station and Grand Central. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay here again! The room was so small there was no ironing board - I didn't ask the front desk what my options were because my clothes weren't that badly wrinkled, so there may be a way to get your clothes ironed. It's not that big of a deal, really!
19th Fl room was clean and very quiet, bedding was high-quality. Near (but not too near) Penn Station. Small bedroom, but big bathroom. No closet, just a small cabinet that could not accommodate a business suit, much less an overcoat. Elevators extremely slow.

The room with one twin bed. It was the perfect, cozy size for one person, and much more affordable than other types of rooms at this hotel.
The staff went out of their way to assist with all our needs and although we were not happy with our room they went out of their way to sort us out . The first room we were assigned to , room 945 had a bad odour which was intolerable. We were then changed to room 444 which is slightly smaller but has good odour , unfortunately the aircon was super noisy and disturbed us on the first night . we then worked out a way to improve this noise so much better. The shower head in room 444 needs attention as it leaks at the back of the pipe - this is evidence of poor maintenance.
A great hotel with it all, charm, location, hip vibe, great restaurant, attentive staff, and nice extras (comp coffee, helpful concierge, great lounge with food & bev options at good prices). Loved it! A larger, more expansive fitness room would be nice.

The hotel was clearly recently redecorated to be hip and modern. I did not realize my single room would consist of a twin bed in a 6 by 10 room. It was half the room pictured. There was no closet, just some small drawers tucked behind the bed. They do an admiralable job with space efficiency but you should know going in how small the space is.
I visited for a conference. That means I spent a minimum amount of time at the hotel and didn't take advantage of any of the on-site facilities -- straight out every morning, straight to my room every night. That being said, the experience was highly positive. The room was bright, clean, comfortable and well appointed. I liked the hotel's decor. And of course, the location was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful. I should note that the room was a bit small, and as others have said it didn't have a chair. I was able to get my work done using the provided stool, but an office chair might have been better. I also found that parts of the hotel, especially the elevators, were too heavily perfumed for my taste. The room wasn't, which is good.

location was good for the purpose of my trip. the lobby/restaurant was hip and bustling. the staff: apathetic, dismissive, rude, unapologetic rooms: way too small and awkward, no shades on bathroom windows, no amenities, no closet space overall experience: borderline abusive special note- extremely awkward situation happening on 8th floor where apparently a permanent tenant lives in one of the rooms and has several crazy notices taped to the outside of his/her door. also the fitness center is a joke.
The best hotel I have stayed in in all my trips to NYC. They accommodated my requests. I slept like a baby---& that NEVER happens! I would like to see a lower rate.

Bed also on a platform, and corner of the base jutted out far enough that I whacked my shins on it to the point of heavy bruises - totally my fault but just beware!!
Stunning hotel. Stayed here for 4th of July weekend. Location is amazing, room is amazing and staff was amazing. Will be back next time while I'm in NYC. Parking is a hassle and valet is 55$ a night.

Location Staff was unable to inform us (when we checked-in) of movie being filmed on the hotel's street, and surrounding street. Numerous street closures. Was not informed by staff ahead of a additional $20 a night fee from the hotel.

Nestled into a quieter part of Manhattan (or at least not as hopping as Times Square) the Roger feels like a bit of an oasis. The hotel did a great job of converting its rooms so they don't feel like an old apartment with a fresh coat of paint and an over-sized photo of old Chelsea. The lobby is pleasant, there is a small, intimate cafe on the landing and the rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. This was my first time and would stay again.

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable beds...overall a great hotel My room was 1 hour and 45mins late, I was offer 1 free cup of coffee. The lobby was full and could not find a place to sit. So I left and went another restaurant and stayed there till the room was ready. I should have been offered something else. I know sometimes things can happen but nothing was offer at all except for a free coffee, and I waited almost 2 hours.

Beds were some of the most comfortable of any hotel I've ever stayed in. Ate in both the Breslin and the John Dory Oyster Bar and both were excellent with the Full English breakfast at The Breslin being the highlight. Every interaction with staff was genuine and pleasant. The shower in our large double room seemed to be an afterthought, small and comically cramped. Whatever you're imagining is too big, I'm serious when I say barely enough room to turn around.
We loved the Hotel design and the staff were very helpful. Our room for 3 people was a great size and at no time did we feel cramped. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was a good size. And as for the view of the Empire State Building from our bedroom...just amazing. We had an unfortunate episode of the only night we decided to come back early and have a drink in our room the people staying in the adjoining room were smoking and this was smelt in our room and lingered for some time. We did call reception and having sent a maintenance man to deal with the problem initially, then sent the hotel security who although said the smoke could be smelt from the corridor and their room was unable to do much about it because there was no evidence of cigarettes in the room when he was eventually allowed in. We had a friend with us who smoked and she did the decent thing and went outside to smoke, shame they didnt do the same, and why didnt the smoke alarm go off in their room?????

I was extremely pleased with my stay at the Ace Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was well-designed, comfortable, cool, and clean. The lobby was always full of people. The attached shops and restaurants were all excellent and the location was perfectly in the middle of everything. I would definitely recommend the hotel and certainly stay there again.
All in all was great. Definitely a younger vibe and nice attention to detail throughout the hotel. Lobby has become a little overcrowded with millenials. Be nice if there were space for guests to have coffee/drink.

The Ace is very much a design, look, overall-feel type of place. It is modern, swanky, functional, young, simple all at once. The lobby was a dimly-lit bar and the music was a little loud. You couldn't hear it any where else. There are two restaurants and a coffee shop accessible from the lobby. Down the stairs is a workout room. Our room was the smallest available, but it was the space we needed. The room had a lingering locker room smell, but I'm guessing that was from the previous guest. It improved the following day. The pillows were great, the mattress sagged a little in the center. There was a small rack by the bathroom for hanging things. I thought the room could really use additional hooks, but it would probably interrupt their painstakingly graphic look and clean design. Don't buy from the courtesy bar. Yikes. The prices are steep. Bit of musky smell to the room. Mattress sagged a little. Room could use hooks for clothing- more than what they provided.
I found it mostly cool. Especially the places at the lobby, which became a very hot meeting place, during lunch time and late hours . The oyster bar, the Stumptown caffe -very good quality- and the Breslin bistrot were mostly satisfactory. The prices were very high. I mean the minibar products, the telephone calls pricelist and the deposit of usd30 for a simple plug...! The most important : there has been a double debit entry on my credit card account for which I am going to send an email to the hotel . pls check.

minibar was loaded with choices deceptive staff. gave me a different room with a smaller bed than the one I paid for. but after waiting on lobby for an hour after my check in time because the manager hadn't inspected the room, I was too tired and Aggravated to argue!

The staff was amazing. Polite and personable, always willing to help and proactive in resolving any booking issues. Would definitely stay again. Also, there is an amazing shop right on the next corner that has an incredible selection of foods, from ice cream and pizza to a full salad bar, that stays open for your late night cravings. Conveniently close to the hotel. If I must search for something negative to say..... Maybe the room seemed a little cramped? Didn't affect us because we were out and about but had we stayed in I suppose we'd have to use the descriptor "cozy."
I love this hotel. I love the staff and I love the rooms. This feels like a hotel in a small town. I always reserve here even if the price is more expensive. Keep up the good work chandler. Better gym room.
The location is great. The bathrooms are nice. Internet worked well. However it lacks the charm I was expecting from a boutique hotel in New York. The rooms have an old feeling. The decoration in general is fairly old style. And when we tried to get room service for breakfast nobody picked up, we were told we will be called back and after 30 min we just gave up. Not worth the price, I would rather do a Hilton or Hyatt for same price with much better bed, service and vibe.

Perfect location, just a few steps from major stores and 15 min walk to Times Square. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Just two elevators. For some rooms you could not control the heating, just the cooling air.
the location was great! close to times square, empire state bldg. and 5th avenue. Also just steps away from subway. I would stay there again. The staff was very friendly. They are remodeling. the hotel is going to be very nice once completed. Our room was recently remodeled and it was tastefully done.
They people were great Lack of coffee maker / limited to one coffee per day..
The front desk staff was excellent. The linens were very nice. Blow dryer didn't work. Called housekeeping for clean towels and replacement blow dryer. Waited an hour. Never showed up. Later they cleaned room and left clean towels but no washcloths. It has potential just have not worked out all the kinks yet.

It's a nice modern boutique feeling hotel. Staff was nice. After a night of jack hammering (location issue more than their fault) there was no hot water at all in the morning. They refunded a portion of my bill but it was brutal. They should consider also soundproofing the Windows more.
Location is great and the subway station is just in the corner of the block. Comlimentary breakfast is just OK, however if you are a familiy, it is important to have breakfast in the hotel in New York. Breakfast is served in the nearby bar& grill and its atmosphere is great. One of the front office staff was very kind and helpful, so I would like to thank her for everthing that she has done. The hotel is very old and needs complete renovation. The rooms are not large enough to accomodate a familiy of four. It seemed the most unclean hotel during our visit to USA. Housekeeping staff is interesting (I guess they need a short course to learn how to behave to customers). In conclusion, location is OK, but nothing else...
the bed was very comfortable and bug free..! could of done with tea/coffee facilities in room though, staff were brilliant.
we were checked in really quick . breakfast was enjoyable . staff at reception were realy helpful in directions and questions . dinner was very good in the evening and brendan bar was very enjoyable bar to drink in. but location location location ,would not be beaten heating system was noisy and lifts slow during busy times.but not bad enough to put us off staying here in the future
Very nice staff 206 should be a storage closet! Nestled between two fire doors, starting at 4am, the two fire doors slam prohibiting any sleep!!
The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Room was cold in November, as heat had not been turned on.
