The bathroom/shower and large flat screen TV. Internet facilities ample and very useful. Hotel reception area not particularly well lit. Milk not readily available to make a drink in the room despite what appeared to be a top of the range coffee machine.
Ambience , location and aesthetic Slowest elevators in the goddam world. Really need to fix that.
Great room, location and a friendly staff Nothing really
Location is great. Rooms are clean and big enough. Beds are high and a bit nerve racking with small children.
comfortable, cosy rooms and friendly staff. Nice neighbourhood with a laid-back feel. The only problem was that the wifi is slow, unreliable and expensive.
The location is convenient and access to shops and restaurants in the proximity makes it an easy stay. The staff is friendly and assists in a professional manner when approached. The rooms are OK, but seem to be a little overloaded for a 2 bed configuration, which makes moving around difficult. The bathroom is OK, yet looks a bit sterile with a stainless steel sink. Good for a short stay, a bit uncomfortable for a longer stay.
The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect for us. They were decorating for Christmas when we were checking out, and it looked beautiful. Loved the Starbucks coffee bar in the lobby.
Valet parking, the friendliness of the staff, having Star Bucks coffee in the lobby - the lounge area in the lobby where 11 of us had take-in dinner - good place for the 3 children to have space to relax. The children thought the glass doors to the bathrooms were funny - they could see the shadows of the person in the bathroom!
Location is great on upper west side. close to subway. Rooms very attractive and modern. I reserved a limo to Newark Airport when leaving. The Bell Captain arranged the ride. Fare was quaoted at $78 although the far was $62 on arrival. I agreed to pay. On arrival at the airport the driver could not accept credit. I don't think he was from a legitimate company. I refused - he took off - very stage. When arranging through hotels, this should not happen!
Liked the location, next to good restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, Central Park, museums. Subway is a five minute walk, can get downtown in 20 minutes. Digital thermostat was great for temp control in the room. Came with a Keurig and replenished with 3 k-cups every morning. The staff, especially the doormen, were very friendly and helpful. Serafina is connected to the lobby, has a great brunch. Some reviews stated the rooms were loud, we had no problem during our stay, it was quiet. The bed was very comfortable and sheets were soft. The room was on the small side, but expected in NYC and honestly all the room we needed for 2 people. Decor felt a little like a college dorm. The whole back wall with the TV was full of black scuffs and brown globs - looks like it has rarely been washed. Wish it would have came with a refrigerator as we weren't able to keep any cold drinks in the room. They are trying to be minimal with the decor in the bathroom, but only one towel hanger? Come on.
The room was nice and clean. It was close to Central Park and easy to get to the subway. The staff was very accommodating. The walls were a little thin so you could hear people in the next room or in the hallway.
Other than the size of the room which is typical of NYC, overall a nice hotel. We travel to NYC 3-4 times a year. We liked the lobby area of this hotel, friendliness of staff and location on the upper westside. Room cleanliness could have been better and there is a large construction project going on next door so if you are traveling during the work week ask about room location
In addition to the beautiful suite and comfortable bed the hotel staff makes the guest feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend this hotel if you want luxury, a feeling of warmth and friendliness, and safety.
Great location, bed was comfortable, TV was nice, clean for age of hotel, sheets and pillows were comfortable. Very Dated! Poor quality construction. bathroom WAY TOO SMALL. Bedroom HOT, Living Room FREEZING! Asked to fix 3 day in a row...finally changed rooms.I could NOT HAVE BEEN FIRST? Old towels, cracked toilet, dated fixtures. $70 half bottle wine?
My wife and I were in town for an awards ceremony and wanted to have a special first class stay near Central Park. The hotel was so nice and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. They even provided us with a limo ride to our event with just a quick call to the front desk. Everything was first rate and the room, view, and decor was very upscale adding to the New York experience. The location was within walking distance to all the best shops, dining, and attractions so that we did not need a cab while we were there. The best part was a view of central park and the room was very quiet with no typical street noise or horns blowing during the night.
A well thought out room layout (jr suite) and everything clean and working. Very friendly employees. An effortless hotel experience where you can tell they are sweating the details. it's not a great room lobby hotel and the views aren't city vistas. But if you value functional comfort Trump Int'l is the best value at the higher end of NYC hotels.
Hotel is in an excellent location. Two blocks away from Central Park, near subway and great restaurants. Hotel Staff very pleasant and professional, Concierge was great. Hotel room was spacious and very clean. Requested room not available (plumbing), alternate room was very accommodating. Later check out.
I liked the sitting room area. The fact the room was quiet, despite being on a busy avenue and street. It was suitable for our family gathering.. It was overpriced for the neighborhood and for the amenities offered.
Our room was very clean and a very nice size. Big construction project going on next door -very noisy at 7 am. Also, mattresses are tired and saggy.
Recently renovated and beautifully done. Every detail was very carefully thought out and the crown molding in the room and hall are gorgeously done! A lovely place to stay.
I was very pleased with my stay at the Lucerne. The room, though small, was very comfortable. I was particularly impressed by the comfort of the mattress, pillows and linens. Our in room coffee maker was not in the room at check in. We did not realize until the second day that we could request it from the desk.
I've stayed at the Lucerne multiple times, and it is consistently a great hotel on the upper West Side. Rooms are comfortable, staff great, and overall just a very nice experience
Very clean room in a relatively quiet part of the city. Shower flooded the bathroom upon showering. Not a big deal, but had to clean up the bathroom after a shower.
location small lobby-no lounge
Great location. There were lost of restaurants within walking distance. The subway is one block away. It is a beautiful building. It was NYC-hotel to an extent - small elevators, fairly small room but not too small.
high quality establishment with attractive look and feel in excellent location
Friendly staff, location and the upgrade I was given was a wonderful surprise. No complaints.
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
Friendly, helpful staff from the front door men onward... The Concierge , he is always a pleasure to deal with. House keeping are quick and helpful, should you require more of anything. Starbucks on the corner... Good to go!
Excellent location. Awesome rate. Was in town for a training workshop but decided to come a couple days early with my boyfriend and found a great rate for weekday in January. Close to subway. Only problem I had was that it can be quite noisy. It is located between Broadway where it crosses an avenue, so even at night there is a lot of traffic. Our room faced Lincoln Center, which seems quiet at night, but it was also the side of the hotel which has service entrances so a lot of trash trucks and deliveries coming in on that side. I'm a light sleeper anyway so I always bring earplugs and that worked perfectly.
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
Proximity to Lincoln Center Dreary, small room Charge for wifi Bathroom so small that one had to close the door to reach the toilet paper and there was no surface on which to put a dopp kit
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
Great location on upper West Side; easy access to subway, Central Park. Staff is helpful, room is clean and nicely appointed.
I was rather surprised that the price quoted did not include taxes. Coming from Europe it came as a nasty surprise at the end.
Great location in great uws neighborhood Good value Parking No valet
Good location for visiting the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Opera House. The shower doesn't have much water although water comes lot from the tap for bathtub.
location of hotel. Comfort of room. Nothing
Location was great!!! It's next to a market and a block and a half from 1,2,3 metro stop. Nicely maintained. Excellent stay!
Very friendly and helpful staff. I had a non smoking room, but I could smell cigarette smoke in the morning, presumably through the air conditioning system. Ugh! Disgusting.
Kichenette facility; cleanliness poor mattress on fold-out bed; did not fix the heating element during our stay
Location and layout of the suite (separate bathroom so no one had to go through the bedroom). Lovely, responsive maid.
The price, the location Old room and furniture, old bathroom
localization, cleaning and confortable room and the little kitchen when I arrived I had a small problem with the book. But I think the problem is the booking.com, not the hotel. And after some trouble they solved the problem.
Room was available for early check in. The bed and bedding were really good quality and comfortable. Fridge even had ice in the freezer. Across the street from Fairway; great for provisioning the room. There were no bedbugs!!!!! Taxes are very high in NYC hotels, so while the rate looked very attractive on Booking.com, customers should be aware that our three night stay cost over $100 more than the booking.com rate because of taxes. Was okay with us because we were happy with room, location, etc. but NYC is expensive.
Great service and close to many destinations
The staff was friendly and helpful providing subway directions and breakfast suggestions. They had umbrellas available when we had rain.
The Excelsior is a classic hotel that is the absolute opposite of an impersonal chain hotel. From management to front desk to housekeeping the Excelsior staff is welcoming and extremely accommodating. We have stayed at the Excelsior several times during the prior couple of years and our rooms are consistently clean, comfortable and quiet. Rates will vary based upon the season and supply and demand factors but typically we have found the Excelsior to be the best hotel value in the upper west side. Fee for WI-fi but as a workaround we used our smartphone as a hot spot for our tablets so really no problem.
Drained very slowly
I loved the location.
The hotel was nice, but it is really the location that sells the place. Can't beat it. A block from Central Park, across from the Museum of Natural History. Bathrooms were a bit dated, and the plumbing seemed temperamental, but it was more than adequate.
The location was great. Half block to Central Park, subway and bus. Bed comfy. Bathroom small but clean and plush. Restaurant had great food. Scaffolding obscures view and workers during daytime decrease privacy. Friday am, noisy road work started 4:30. No doorman to help when leaving and needing a cab. Pay for in room WiFi. Room cost increased by ~25% various taxes.
Great location, pretty, away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square/Midtown Not a business hotel. Need to pay for WIFI. No room service. No coffee machine. Only coffee available is at the breakfast room and they charge you $2.50 just to get a cup in the morning. Not the expense but the nuisance and inconvenience. No shops on site. Just vending machine. They try to pretend to be upscale here but nothing about it is upscale - from the property to amenities to service. Hugely disappointing.
I love the Excelsior, the staff, the location, the cleanliness, just so easy, so accommodating. Always the desk personnel are lovely, the last day, the 29th, the desk man was a bit condescending. I've never had that experience before, but upon asking him about leaving my bags after check-out, asking about a taxi to the airport, he almost dismissed me, as if I were an annoyance. Unfortunate, but true. The desk man when I arrived on the 2nd, was lovely, very patient, very accommodating. I've stayed here before, never had that experience, so it must've been a bad day for him.
From the location to the helpful, friendly staff, I loved this hotel. It was clean, comfortable and beautiful. The on-site restaurant was very good as well. I didn't like leaving to go home!
comfortable beds large TV very clean great location nice sitting room quiet hotel Small bathroom, no shelf for toiletries , not enough room in the kitchen easy meal prep
This is a great, convenient hotel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Just a few steps from Fairway Market and Citarella and short blocks to the subway. If you have family nearby as we do, it is a perfect place to stay. We had a suite with a tiny kitchen area- microwave, refrigerator, and a small electric kettle. Staff was friendly and helpful. Try Maison Kayser across the street for breakfast or brunch. Very comfortable king bed. although very strange huge king pillows. Tiny bathroom, has everything you need, but no room.
The stay was excellent and the staff was always very helpful and attentive to my friends and my needs. The location was very good and there is a 24hr market just around the corner. I didn't like that I had to leave aside from that my stay was exquisite I highly recommend this hotel
the staff was vert friendly and helpful. the room was largge for ny and very comfortable. the diner across fromthe hotel was very ny and had quiet a variety and would deliver. market closs by. everything you neeed for a relaxing ny trip their were problems with elevator but not serious to cause any discomfort
Friendly staff Facility, Elevator was not working. We had to use staff elevator. Construction/renovation on the floor, right in front of my room. Dust and noise.
Very good location. Just a block away from subway and lots of little shops to get something to eat or do a little shopping. Very clean room, well furnished and very clean. Bathroom was huge! I asked for a car service and got a driver that drove way too fast and just wasn't very professional. Not the hotels fault but it was scary.
It was in Manhattan, and had a bit of character- though not original to the time period so that's a bit unfortunate. There's decent coffee for sale in the lobby. Appeared to not overcharge me, and no sign of bed bugs! Room was 13' by 9' -that is being generous with the arms pan - that didn't really matter since we didn't hang out there, but it was laughable. Also had a shirt fall of a hanger just to retrieve it covered in dust bunnies. Key cards stopped working halfway through, not a big issue except it's a stair run up/down as the elevators are a bit wonky. Was hoping for old charm, didn't have much of it. Not really worth spending extra, overall. Seems like over $300 will get something special, otherwise might as well just book a Holiday Inn or something basic.
Clean, nicely designed rooms; comfortable and cozy Construction work in rooms opposite - woken up by loud drilling and hammering at 9am for two of my three night stay. I think I should have been alerted to this fact before I registered.
Location Price Cleanliness
Flight was delayed a full day, so we headed over to the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the how much we got for our money's worth! The staff was extremely accommodating as well.
The room was very clean, the set up of the room was modern and fresh! would stay again. they are doing renovations on certain floors.
staff and cleanliness the elevator did not work. We went to the service elevator.
Location is perfect, hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Desk staff was consistently rude over 4 days. Not so much to me but anytime I walked through the lobby I overheard snippy sarcastic remarks being made in response to questions.
three windows in my room. Three urns of cold drinks in the lobby every afternoon. only one small elevator working for the entire week
Cocktail bar and happy hour. Beautiful decor. Well-furnished rooms. Extremely friendly and personal staff. Had to pay for breakfast. Rooms could have had better lighting (i.e. table lamps).
It is well located close to Central park and the Timesquare subway route. The staff were also very nice and freindly. It's hotel prices for hostel accommdoation! The rooms were small and the ehating didnt work very well. It was often either too hot or too cold. The radiator in our room would wake us up at 6am without fail every morning by making loud ratteling noises.
It's location, very convenient. The bar, unprofessional staff, no atmosphere. Expensive.
Room smelled like dirty socks and urine. The heat was about 80 degrees inthe room and we could not get window open for relief Carpet was filthy and all night there were strange shouts or screams with doors slamming. We were glad to get out of this really tacky dirty hotel . Never go there if you want peace and cleanliness. Same as above
Convenient for subway. Attractive decor. Helpful staff Room very small with inadequate storage and lighting. No elevator and a very narrow dark stairway.
it's very convinent because it is near the subway. room is quite clean
All the staff was very friendly and helpfull.
Great location - near Columbia University Dingy, no elevators, dim lighting, narrow corridors.
Nothing! The worst hotel in my life ever. They should change the category to one star. The hotel is old, dirty, noisy and the staff are not interested in help you. The guests were are strange, like drug addicts. I saw policemens going there loooking for people. You can watch porn movies in tv, like a motel. Don't go there. It's better pay more and stay in midtown area.
Extraordinarily noisy and very bare bones. The hot water in the bathroom took very long to heat up and proved unreliable. To reach the hotel, one must climb a steep and narrow stairway, only wide enough for one person. Only in NYC could this possibly be considered a two-star hotel.
Very friendly staff- they'll help bring your bags up/down the stairs. Was impressed with the service. Rooms are very clean, beds are very comfortable, bathroom was new but small. The carpeting was a bit warn but that was it. Fresh, clean paint on the walls. Overall, I was very impressed with the cleanliness, service and price point for this hotel. Also, the location is great and the theme was very interesting, having visited Marrakech, Morocco only weeks prior. Kudos! Will definitely stay again if I plan on making another quick one-night trip to NYC!
This hotel said it had a refit, It was very dark and rooms were shabby, The plus side was the staff were fantastic. Also it's quite a long way out, On the ourskirts of Harlem.
We came to bike the Five Boro and the hotel staff was very accommodating - the hotel is also well situated close to the west side bike path.
subway station right in front hotel, all types of stores nearby. expensive parking, cheap window ac unit with very poor sound insulation. few outlets in the room. very old hotel badly needing a facelift. but what do you expect in NYC for $300?
Good location and for New York,it is a good size room. Right across street for the Subway and 3 blocks from Central Park. The beds are so hard and linens are very old. Towels are tiny and old. Our room was not cleaned even after I told them we were leaving and would l ike room serviced.
The front desk guys were exceptional. Truly cared to make sure I was a happy customer. It will be my permanent go to on the west side from here on out! No hotel at these great prices can be perfect so there is no point in complaining when everything else was spot on!
The room was exactly what we'd reserved. It was small but clean and quiet. The hotel staff was very nice. The location is excellent. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and the subway right outside the door.
Nice place to stay for the Thanksgiving parade. Short walk to the subway on 96 street and central park. Would stay here again! Father and two sons. Had to pay $7 for internet connection.
My only critique was that the bed was a tad uncomfortable for me, but both my mom and aunt were quite comfortable. The room was small and cozy, but it has everything a visitor needs. The staff was wonderful and kind. The location is excellent - right next to a subway stop that makes it easy to see NYC in minutes. Also blocks from Central Park. Neighborhood is safe and clean. Next to a drug store, n case you forgot something. Loved it and would stay there again.
This is a great location in the upper west side. Lots of little places for coffee or food. Several drug stores, diners, etc all within a block. Located across street from red line (1/2/3 train) so very convenient to rest of city. Nice neighborhood. I made a mistake & requested 2 "superior double rooms", which could not accommodate a rollaway bed. Wasn't a huge deal, I had a sleeping bag for my (10 year old) son, and we weren't in the room much anyway. The other room had room for the pack & play for an infant, so it all worked out - just realize that a double room is for a double bed, desk, & not much else in most cases. But for 2 nights in NYC, for 2 rooms on short notice, a great price (140/rm/night). Heat in room couldn't be turned off - we ended up running the AC to offset the heating.
Location Reception was not as helpful as I would have hoped. Sent me to my room without explaining the maze I would find, which caused me to have to return downstairs to obtain guidance from the concierge. The furniture is in dire need of change. It's noticeably old, scratched, and in bad shape. The rooms need to be better cleaned. They are excessively dusty. The wallpaper is falling off the walls. The air conditioner did not have a cover over the vent, thus dust accompanied the cold air. The windows did not have curtains. Instead there were old blinds through which the sun entered the room at 6 a.m., giving me no other choice but to get up at that time, despite the time that I went to sleep. In all honesty, if I had to do it again, I would not stay there.
Staff was very friendly I was on the tenth floor and there was a lot of elevator traffic. Entire hotel had only two, very small elevators that were operational. Two were out of service. At times it would take 20-30 min to get in and out.
Good Location and the check-in process was easy. There are a lot of things that did not meet my expecations. First being that there was no parking, in which, I already exprected. Online they adverise that the hotel was newly renovated...lies. When I go to my room it was in less than satisfactory condintion. When I asked about it the attendant was rude and said it was because it's with a third party vendor and I didn't ask for a premium room. How was I to know the difference if it was advertise the hotel was newly renovated. Then the attendant who claimed he was acting mangager wouldn't even give me another room that I would have been more comfatable in. I was very disgusted and disappointed.
Location Hotel was overbooked. I was almost not able to check in
Cleanliness of the room Slow wifi connection
Close to where i needed to do business Good area, easy parking , food everywhere Old TV uncomfortable bed dark room no curtains just blinds i could not regulate bathroom temperature it was either too hot or too cold
The price and convenience The rooms were outdated
I hate manhatten. i guess that is the value for money you get in the city. just a good location and friendly and nice staff. dump... a small room in the size of my kitchen if not less, had to wait 20 minutes for elevators, not the best smells ever...
- location - inexpensive - big rooms for Manhattan - wifi basically never worked - halls smelled like smoke - door to room was not secure - window wouldn't stay closed
The location cannot be beat. Just two subway stops on the 2 or 3 train to Times Square. Plenty of great restaurants in an appealing neighborhood that has all the amenities. Hotel staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Some rooms have been renovated. Beds are very comfortable. Maid staff are efficient and responsive. The hotel has two elevator banks, but one of them has been in disrepair for many months. Unfortunately, the hotel needs both banks of elevators working to provide sufficient access to the rooms and lobby.
The only thing I liked was the fitness center that I didn't know they had. The front desk lady Mirian is extremely rude and racist. The hotel is in bad condition. The rooms smell of cigarettes/ mold. The water takes 15 minutes to get hot. The phone doesn't work throughout and it really is just a pathetic place to stay. Cheap can be expensive
The doorman was friendly and tried to be helpful. No one seemed willing to really help when we had a problem. We had to call every day to get a complete set of hand towels, bath clothes and regular towels. The plugin would not keep the items plugged into them. My hairdryer plug kept falling out. The bathroom fan, which had to come on with the light, was so loud it gave me a headache. You have to let the water run for several minutes before it even tries to get hot. They don't have ABC on the TV. I asked if they didn't have it or I just wasn't working the TV right. The lady at the front said she didn't know if they had it or not and didn't know how to find out. You have to pay $10 for 24 hours of Internet service. Called the front desk and let it ring at least 30 times. She didn't answer. Went down stairs and she is sitting at the front desk. Just didn't want to answer the phone I guess.
Pretty comfortable bed. Morning coffee in the lobby would have been nice.
The staff was friendly and attentive. The price is hard to beat in NYC without going to a worse part of town or staying at a hostel. Having a full bed (a touch firm), a TV, window, and own shower and toilet was great. Three blocks from subway (A,C) lines. It's hard to complain because of the price. Room was decently clean. Elevator is slow.
I didnt liked anything at all, its was de worst experience someone could ever have. I even left the hotel as soon as I got to see my room m, didnt care about the non refundable thing. The staff was not friendly, there were beds all over the aisle, the room and the bathroom were both disgusting. The photos were so different than the real thing. Plus, the entire place smelled so bad.
Like 1. price (however, the room was not worse the money) 2. Location (proximity to Central Park, along main road) 3. Staff was pleasant to deal with Dislikes: 1. The only elevator was broken. They gave us a ground floor room. 2. Had to go through a fire escape like door to access the ground level corridor 3. No electronic key. Had to use a metal key (like a house key). 1 key only. 4. Room door was flimsy looking and old. 5. very primitively furnished room. the only desk in the room seemed like a first project of an amateur hobbyist. 6. Closet was in poor shape - did not want to risk putting clothes in there. 7. Beds (double bed room) felt dirty. Did not tucked ourselves in because we were afraid there might be bugs insider the sheets. We slept with clothes on, on the bedsheet. 8. Really poor and small TV. Unknown brand. 9. Location - too far from everything except for Central Park.
Finding a hotel in Manhattan for that price is hard. It isn't very fancy, but has the basics. If you are in NYC for a short trip, and you're mostly running around outside and you come to sleep only, this is perfect for you. The heater has no settings in which you can change its flow; by the middle of the night, we were all sweating and sleeping with our clothes off. Given it is winter, I can't complain too much. Standard double beds, tv with no decent channels, wifi you pay for separately, a wardrobe for your suits to hang, a little coffee table and a nice bathroom.
The staff was very welcoming. Everything was clean and comfortable.
The bathroom was recently renovated and the room was neat and clean. Mattress was firm but comfortable. It was relatively quiet at night so you could sleep well. The location was great. Right on Central Park West and around the corner from my daughters apartment. The room had a noisy air conditioner that didn't work well. The elevator was not working ( thank goodness I was only on the 4th floor).
The young lady who worked at the front desk on mornings need a little bit of training in customer service and the experience would have been excellent for my purpose of business. Completely unsatisfied with the way she spoke to my mother. No respect. My mother called me in distress. The clerk was right about what she was trying to communicate and I accepted that as my responsibility, and rectified it. But speaking to my mother as if she is poor and can't afford their room (which we only stayed at for location purposes) is unacceptable. She is dangerous to your establishment if she remains untrained since you never know who your establishment will entertain. Your establishment should be grateful that the other woman, who works on afternoons, is the darling that she is. Good choice for business.
I'll never understand people who book a cheap stay and expect the Four Seasons. I feel we received a great value for the money in one of the most expensive cities in the US, which allowed us to maximize our trip. The staff was super friendly, helpful and even fun. That being said, if you are put off by a desk person kicking back with their feet on the desk and smelling herbal scents drifting from the back room, this place is not for you. If you are put off by worn finishes, tilted floors, or lack of amenities – this place is not for you. For an amazing rate we received a clean, comfortable bed, a friendly staff, a place right on the subway line, and we never saw an unwanted critter. We always felt safe walking to and from the subway even well past midnight (however we are rather "street smart" for lack of a better term). If you are only going to be in the room to shower and sleep, why spend hundreds of dollars a night? (Talking to my fellow 99%ers here). I've stayed in everything from luxury hotels to sub-grade highway motels, and this place is more than adequate for the money. If you are looking for luxury, spend more. Much more. If you are a smart traveler, you can feel comfortable booking here. The only thing I wish for is that the hotel could pick up and move south of 59th St., but of course the price would go up! 15-20 minutes on the subway isn't bad to get downtown.
Comfortable bed, clean, fresh paint. Great value. But indeed the smallest room I have ever been in. As a single, was no problem.
Location, Really clean, comfortable beds and linens. No late check out signs posted everywhere almost yelling at you.
It was VERY clean and staff was great
Very clean with nice decor and accommodations. The sound proofing was pretty awful though. I was able to sleep through the night, but I could hear everything that went on in the hallway and even the kids in the building next door. Bring ear plugs if you are light sleeper.
The place was ok, and reasonable. We exchanges all comfort for the low price so it was not any thing new. The place was very clean and well furnished and a bit spacious for such a small room. The only problem was the the lobby people told us to go to this specific parking garage and the garage or the lobby duse totally scamed us saying that the discount voucher wa's not rezconized at the garage and the customer support people for the hotel blamed us for going to to wrong place. We ended up paying a lot for a over night parking than anywhere else.
Hotel is pretty much the cheapest in town. Expect very small rooms - basically just the bed and a bit leg room. Bathrooms were impressive - renovated and clean and a flat screen TV - so just the basics....
Convenience. Walk to central park, walk the opposite way a few feet to catch the subway, 24 hour diner and deli conveniently nearby. We will for sure stay here again. Beautiful location. The hallways are slim, rooms are small BUT...it's perfect for the couple that likes to get in and out, tour, with ease.
Location and cleanliness Nothing
Clean. Friendly/helpful staff. Great value Small room.
Great location; good value, friendly staff, super clean room, the ability to request a certain type of room (eg, quiet, bed type, bed number) Housekeeping entered my room even though I had the "Do not Disturb" sign on the doorknob. Minor glitch.
Small rooms but clean and located very close to the 1 subway train, Central Park, and natural history museum.
