The elevators speed very fast. Very comfortable beds. Very quite for most part except for outdoor noise which is unavoidable but not bad at all. Clean rooms. Great staff. The security is well above the norm, made us feel very safe. Locating is very convenient to all parts of the city. Loved the location. Rooms are small but we didn't come to sit in the room. There were two of us and we were comfortable wouldn't have wanted anymore than two in the room that we stayed in. For our first visit to NYC we had a fabulous time and enjoyed the hotel very much.. Lobby gets very crowded at times. Travelers using elevators for first time doesn't even consider that someone might be getting off the elevator and they crowd the door to the point you can't get off. No reflection on the Row but just be warned you can get run over before you get off the elevator.

Great hotel in the middle of everything, next to subway line. Inside hotel is the City Kitchen where you have a "food court" with many renamed local restaurants. Included breakfast was so so, not the best but good. Very clean room, they cleaned our room every day. Eight elevators, but always very busy. Extremely small room, very noisy on 7th floor (at night all trucks and constructions work and you hear everything in the room). Thanks God we got the "Deluxe City view" because it was supposed to be a bit bigger. The view is not as good as other in the area but its ok for the price. One night we found a small worm in the ice from the ice machine. They should have better beds. But over all its the best option for the $$.
Swanky lobby doesn't translate to the rooms, which are cramped and awkwardly layed out. This is bottom end, despite the trendy sounding name. How anyone would rate this a 4 star property is beyond me. For first night of two night stay my room was oversold. They sent me to the Hyatt Times Square; much nicer.
The room was way to small. I never been in a place like this. I call the front desk to see if they change the room and they do nothing

Location was perfect . Check in and check out is very easy and staff was very friendly . We request for double bed and sofa we paid more to get room like that but sofa was too old to sleep on and they bring us roller bed but matteres was very uncomfortable that u can feel all the metal under the sheet.

The is the one of the best locations in the theater district. Most of the major theaters are located within three blocks of the hotel. The same day ticket office is located yards away from the hotel so you can get up early to get your ticket and then return to your room. The hotel entrance is right off times square. The hotel is clean large and and the staff is very friendly and efficient. Many family oriented dining establishments are nearby as well as easy access to the subway and various tour operators. The hotel is large and is used as a convention facility. So if you do not like large crowds and being in the location that is busy and very active during the evening hours, this is not the place for you.

People at front desk were nice The customer service at the view lounge was terrible. The lady that served us did not believe that we enter staying at the hotel and Saud very loud that the room number that we gave her did not exist and I showed her my key. She was very rude we felt embarrased.
Our stay was fine. The staff was friendly, the room was clean. As one would expect for $400/night. The ticket counter for local shows was very helpful/convenient. automated elevator system crammed too many people into each trip testing the fire alarm system each day that we stayed very uncomfortable sofa bed mattress (felt every spring)
Great location and some great views. They apperently give every person in the hotel access to the executive lounge. I'm used to a crowd at times but this was crazy. They need to either expand the lounge or enforce the entry policy.

I love this hotel.
Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.
Poorly disclosed 30$/day facility fee
Location is great. Price wasn't bad. Even though I booked and prepaid for our stay, they charged us 23 per night for "facility fee". When I asked what was for, they said "it's a required fee for wifi". I tried to say we didn't need wifi, but the gentleman said "sorry, it's a required fee". There is also some construction going on, which woke us up at 730am. When look outside, there was a cord. They didn't alert us about construction, and neither told us to make sure our curtains were closed. Rooms are also a bit outdated and small.
Location Staff were not very friendly. Man at desk checking me in was quite short with me, he kept asking me for a voucher, I kept telling him I didn't have one. He obviously wasn't listening to me. He never said hello, welcome, please or thank you. I realize it was check in time so it was busy, but don't work in this industry if you can't deal with people more appropriately. I actually found all the staff quite stand-offish, except the gentleman at the bag check. I had no cold water for my shower, and there was a tag from previous visitor on the floor in the bathroom. I left a bag in one of the rooms, when I called half hour later, I spent 20 minutes on phone, being put on hold. I finally just went to hotel and asked security to get it.

We came for the birth of my first grandchild.the hotel is very modern and sleek. Our room was large and well appointed with all of the modern technological conveniences. The mattress was very comfortable with high thread count linens. The bathroom was large and had more bath accessories than I have ever seen. I.e. Cuff links, tooth brush, paste, etc. I loved the large soaking tub. We never heard any outside noise even though this hotel is located in Times Square From the front desk to the doorman, the service was incredible. Leilani, one of the managers even gave us a gift for the new baby. I would highly recommend this hotel!

The renovation last year really upgraded this NYC classic. Now the interiors are just as lux as the classic facade. Great location in Times Square but quiet and tranquil retreat inside. Great service and really friendly staff. We enjoyed our girls weekend immensely. Avoid if you don't like fighting through crowds at Times Square.
2 queen beds made this hotel perfect for our family of four. Located right on Times Square, the hotel held our bags after checkout while we went across the street to see a Broadway show.
Once you get past the unprepossessing lobby, the hotel is really excellent. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was large, comfortable and well-appointed. It was bitterly cold so we ate in the hotel, choosing the bar's little plate menu over the Vlentine's Day special menu; each choice was delicious. Large, contemporary bar and restaurant (maybe showing a little wear on the cushions) and excellent service. Location, right on the corner of Times Square, can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of it all. Not cheap, but we weren't on a penny pinching trip. Worth every penny. Special mention to the concierge for fulfilling a couple special requests. As noted, the lobby is decidedly underwhelming although the staff was friendly and helpful. Otherwise, no complaints!
The Knockerbocker was a very nice hotel with a great location. My only complaint was the day that we left, we stored our bags for a few hours. When we came back to pick them up, it took 20 minutes or so to get them. I had to catch a flight. The front desk was unapologetic about it. They just stood at the desk, while customers waited and were dissatisfied. They need to make sure they are staffed properly at a busy time, and if not, other staff should pitch in. It should be a group effort, because it makes the hotel better as a whole.
Nice interior All staff Ive come across felt like security. They dont respond to greetings. When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity,beauty and glamour. As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.

Friendly and accommodating staff! Loved that everyone was there willing to help. Also liked the security of staff checking to make sure that all guests coming into the hotel were in fact supposed to be there. Didn't like that there wasn't a fridge and/or microwave in the room given the price. Room was very nice but for the price I would've expected at least a fridge.
The room was spacious for NYC standards and very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modern and kept up to date. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep our water, wine and cheese cold.
We appreciated the entire stay. It was quiet, friendly staff, clean, accomodating, close to subway. Good food . We had to leave. We have recommended it to others and will be back.

Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.

Absolutely nothing. It was, by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms are from the 80's. Dirty and smell like cigarettes. Staff is unfriendly unwilling to answer the most simple of questions. The valet service is a joke. It took us 1.5 hours to get our vehicle back when we checked out.

Bell Hop took bags to room. I gave a $10 dollar tip for 10 minutes of his time. He looked at me and asked.."Really only $10 that is all my time is worth to you"? It was my first time in New York so I took back the $10 and gave him $20. I was later told by other staff the Ball Hop was in the wrong and that I should have taken his name and reported him. Rooms were ok at best. Not super clean.

Nothing. I would recommend kayak remove this hotel from their booking options. It was rated 4.5 out of 5 stars and was the worst hotel I have ever seen. I travel all the time and use you guys to book flights etc. This was my first experience booking a hotel and I will never utilize the service again. I am having to battle with you guys to get money back for a place that was so low quality we didn't feel safe sleeping there. We encountered serious issues upon arrival. We looked at two different rooms and decided due to the condition of the hotel and the utter disarray of the rooms that we could not stay there. We are working back trying to get our money back as we had to make other sleeping arrangements.
The only thing I can save from my stay was the location, it's not far from places of sightseeing and they have a metro station right in front of the hotel but that's the only thing I can think of. The hotel is just awful, the staff is just unfriendly and very rude, I had a problem with one of the employees and they could even apologize even do they almost ruin my hole stay there. The room is just sad, is very very small, so dirty and the bed will make you cry, we had to sleep over the bed because the sheets and everything was just disgusting. Really don't stay here is not worth it and you are going to regret booking here, I did...
Staff was very unconcerned with complaints Had to have clothing sent to laundry to be decontaminated due to bedbugs-they lost some of my items. While they did comp our room due to bedbugs, the manager has yet to respond to my complaint of lost items and additional expenses. I was promised that my clothing would be returned within a the day-took 2 days. i had to buy a winter coat (as mine was sent out for decontamination). still waiting to be reimbursed.

My husband and I were traveling with our 2 adult children and their traveling companions, so we booked 3 rooms. All rooms were spacious and comfortable. Decor was trendy, with high end amenities. We loved the rooftop bar and had a great meal at the attached restaurant. Location was perfect. Overall, a great stay. Some of the furniture in the room was showing some wear. And the desk chair was the only chair in the room. Also, the closet was very small. Not enough space to hang our clothes and coats.

Could here everything going on outside like the windows we open even though they weren't. No dresser to put clothes in. Very basic. Loud air conditioner. Laundry facilities would help a lot! Took forever to get an elevator bc they were always full. St Front desk staff not so friendly. Conceirse service not useful at all. Didn't even try to help us figure out things to do. Very disappointed.

With its location just hard to compete but, anything beyond that is not remarkable. The hotel old fashioned, we change three rooms and still have not found a room that has hot water which meets our demands. Only after a number of requests thay sent a plumber who fixed the problem. Very suitable for those who want mainly to visit the city and get a good-value because of the location. This huge hotel stay can not offer much more.

I thought the hotel had some very positive attributes such as the entertance to the building and the location of the hotel but these positive atrributes were over shadowed by the disappointing service I had encountered here I was extremely unsatisfied with the service at the hotel. When I first arrived in my hotel room I found that the bathroom door knob was somewhat broken and the toilet handle was difficult to use making it hard to flush at times. My room was supposed to come with a coffee maker in it and there was not one. I was not upset with that fact but what did upset me was that when I called to have one delivered, I was told that one would be brought up right away. This however was not the case, I called the front desk again about 20 or so minutes later and they apologized and told me one would be sent up. Another 15 minutes went by and I was still kept waiting for the coffee maker. I called the front desk for a third time and they transferred me somewhere in the hotel where I was told that the person that was to bring the coffee went on lunch, considering I called way before noon this was very frustrating. After waiting a whole hour I finally received the coffee machine and to my surprise was just a simple keurig machine that anyone could of brought up to my room. Another issue that I faced here was upon checking out. I had called the front desk an hour and a half before it was time to check out to have them send security to my room because the safe was no longer working and to have them bring my car out of the parking garage, they asked for my ticket number which was to be given to me by the doorman at my arrival, sadly no such ticket was given to me when the doorman took my car.The front desk basically told me there was nothing they could do without the ticket number and sent my call to the doorman for him to assist me. I waited on the line and the phone just continued to ring with no response. I called back to the front desk after a period of time because I was still waiting for security to open the safe and to get the car issue settled and ended up being transferred from person to person and no one was helping me locate my car. It became evident that I would have to go to the front desk to get this handle because nothing was getting handled. At the desk they insisted that I had received a ticket, which was 100 percent false if I had received the ticket I wouldn't have been in the situation I was in. It wasn't until a manager came over and took over and helped my situation by having the doorman go an physically check the lot for my car, and when he returned I was again forced to wait at least another half an hour to get my car which I didn't quite understand why it wasn't taken out of the lot while the doorman was already over there. I really am not one to complain but when I'm paying over 500 dollars to stay at a hotel I'd expect my service to be much better than the way I was treated.
The hotel and staff were pleasant. Our room was nice and clean. Rooms are small but we expected that. The hotel is very busy. We were there for fun and enjoyed the craziness. New York never sleeps, but I like to. Bring ear plugs if you stay in Time Square. New Yorkers like their car horns.

The staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient, especially Justyna from Reception/Reservation. Location is awesome. The hotel has a great security policy. We felt secured. The hotel physical looks need to be updated and maintained. This may upgrade the hotel in general and compete with other hotels in the area.
I loved the size and cleanliness of the rooms and the location of the hotel. I didn't like that you needed to take an elevator to the lobby and then another to the room. While there it seemed like only a few elevators were working and the hotel was crowded because of superbowl weekend. There was no decent lounge or gift shop.
Great location. Large rooms. Very quiet. Rooms are older. Firnishing are worn out. Bar in the lobby has only basic drinks and bottom shelf wines.
Cookies on arrival. Separate sleeping quarters with closing door, (bath is Jack and Jill so can shut bedroom, but kids can still use bath) fridge, safe, hairdryer, microwave. Extra bed is $25/night so asked for packnplay (free) and my 5-year-old slept in there. Had crib sheet and small blanket. You are smack dab in Times Square (can be very crowded right out the door, hold your kids tight). NQR train literally outside and uptown will drop you off at Bloomingdales. Or walk 2 avenues to 5th with shopping. on 17 th floor and very quiet. Could hear sirens at times, but never woke us up. Black out shades make is very dark and close by overlapping, so no need to rig it shut. AC gives off good white noise. Coffee cart right outside. Evergreen coffee shop around the corner and SUPER fast during weekdays. Bed was comfortable enough, but could still feel my husband turn. No USB plugs. At first we had no towels. They brought towels up pretty quickly. Then I later realized there was a dirty bar of soap in the shower I asked to switch rooms, because I did not feel that this room was clean. They switched us to Hilton honors room immediately, which had free Wi-Fi for guests. This was reasonable compensation. The rooms could use a little repair. There was part of a sticker left on furniture, broken tile in the bathroom, wallpaper was coming up in the corners, curtain rod and was broken off the curtains in the window, fridge would freeze food . Nothing unexpected. We would stay there again.

The hotel was in the most central area that anyone could wish for. Shows, tourist trips, lights, excitement. Very nice suites and clean. Trying to unload bags from a vehicle is difficult as you have to stop by the kerb illegally. The staff were extremely inconsistent. Some showed excellent efficency and politeness however some really griped me. Breakfast is somewhat below average for the price.
The view was the best feature and the service was good. Friendly staff The room I stayed in was much smaller then I had anticipated. The hotel website boasts large, roomy suites.. also the room had an offensive odour. If I can find a less expensive deal for this hotel I will stay again otherwise for the amount I payed I can get much better! Paid $450/night.
The decor and availability of room service as well as the location The hotel is very small and cramped. The floor we stayed on had a horrible fried food odor that was overwhelming every day of our stay. I did not feel that the overall quality was representative of a 5-star hotel.
The Chatwal fires on all cylinders. Every need is attended to. Expensive, but worthwhile. The bathroom was amazing, but using the shower at full pressure actually caused a bit of a flood. The climate and lighting control is handled by a single touch-screen unit, but its operation is a little complicated. Light-switches shouldn't be confusing.

My husband and I always enjoy the Element, it's got everything we need. We stay there 2 times a year while we work trade shows at the Javits.
Clean and comfortable bedroom, nice bathroom, location is very good, near Port Authority, Subway, Times Square. The elevators are just 3 for more than 30 floors, what makes it difficult to get in in the morning, when everybody is trying to leave. I took more than 10 minutes to get one since it always skipped our floor. The reception desk staff was fine, but just that, they were not friendly enough to make you feel they really cared for your stay. I asked about the value for a late checkout since there was a transaction in my credit card, and they just said that they did not know about any transaction according to the value I showed to them. After the checkout, that was the value of my late checkout.
Clean, friendly staff, safe location, near Penn Station and Bus/Subway station. High speed elevators were quick and fully functional yet compact room, quality continental breakfast included. All rooms sleep 2 persons. Booked through booking.com and charge for room was not to occur until stay, instead the room was charged immediately, one month before stay. While Elements is a non-smoking hotel, you may encounter some large dogs. Rooms suitable for 2 persons only, would be crowded with a large dog as well.
Enjoyed the decor and atomosphere - great location and a great stay! Free happy hour and solid breakfast to get you going. Someone tried to come into our room at 8AM but we had the deadbolt on - never found out who it was or why they would come in with a 12AM check out.
The location is convenient to many points of interest 3 elevators for a 40 story building equals 5 to 10 minute waits for the elevator. The included breakfast is worthless as the space is so crowded and trashed by 8:30 that it is unusable. The kitchenette in the room has no value for a weekend stay and the space it takes up means there's no room for your suitcase.

It feels as if you have your own apartment. Element has thought of everything. The full sized fridge,nth silverware and the dishwasher. The most notable feature at Element is the staff. They are truly focused on getting everything that you desire to you and somehow seem to always go above and beyond. Great for locals and for tourists. Room service was missed.
Loved - the location although a bit shady at night due to the gay strip club two doors down, all the free food and drinks although it wasn't the best tasting at least they offered and thats more than you can say for any other hotel in the surrounding areas, the kitchenette came in handy Hated - the elevator situation too many people not enough elevators, the fact that they used a pasenger elevator as a service elevator to hual trash from the guests room...it was filled completely to the top with trash bags and we had to stand there and watch and wait as they got it all out and sprayed and wiped down the elevator so we could finally get back to our room, I did not like seeing so much of the inner workings of the hotel in plain view
Rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, maid service timely, toiletries excellent, service excellent, fitness room spacious, and outstanding location - one block from Times Square, next door to subway stop to SoHo and 2 block from subway going uptown, near great restaurants a block away, and a block or two from most of the major theaters . We have now stayed here three times in the past 4 years - not willing to risk staying somewhere else Nothing not to like, except it can be pricey depending on the day of the week you stay ($300-$400/night), but it is worth it.
for the buffet breakfast they write down 18% tip???

Clean room, comfortable bed, nice walk in shower (no tub). Subway entrance right outside. WiFi wasn't free unless you sign up to rewards club.
Flexible with checkout, very helpful staff. For the price, breakfast and internet should be included.

Location was awesome, and we were upgraded to a deluxe room with sweet views. Definitely worth it. Parking was confusion as address given online did not match where to valet park, which was awful because traffic around Time Square is insane sometimes.
Took the wife to NYC for a romantic getaway, and wanted to stay in the Times Square area to be close to theaters. This property was perfect for us! Clean, modern rooms with everything we needed, and all within a short walk to the heart of Times Square. we would stay here again in a heartbeat. On the check in website, I made request for highest floor possible with a great view away from the elevator. We ended up on the 29th floor, corner room at the end of the hall which was everything I asked for. At check in I also requested late check out and was allowed 2.5hours which was perfect for our departure to the airport. this Hilton and its staff were top notch. Thanks! Room was cool, had to crank the thermostat to 80 to get warm . This could have been due to havering a corner room with lots of windows. Housekeeping, unfortunately, turned the heat back to 67 each day so the room was cool'ish when we got back each evening. Not a huge concern.
Hotel was excellent - perfect location if you want to be in the middle of the action in NYC. Staff was courteous and extremely helpful. Room size was great, room was clean and comfortable. Excellent value!

Everything was very good. At the "check in" counter, the man in charge was very helpful, enabling me to get a room without having to wait. I appreciated his efforts very much.
Location is great and NYC atmosphere is why you head to this area. Hotel is going through renovations and rooms were not clean. Bathroom had mold and tub was missing shower parts. Not what we expected.
The location was perfect for going to time square and all the local tourist attractions within walking distance to everywhere..check in was very easy and they were very professional. There is nothing that I didn't like

Close to Times Square Hotel room was quite and comfortable Good competitive pricing When you check bags into the bell hop they keep them outside in the lobby. Nothing disappeared but it made me a little uneasy.
The room size was good for NYC. The staff was friendly. The location is good if one wants to be close to the theater district. We couldn't turn the heat off. We tried turning the temperature as low as it could go and it was still blowing warm air.

I loved how they all treated me and my almost 2 yrs old daughter. They loved her Gia! Everybody paid attention to her, played w her, made us feel like at home! We ll be returning again for sure! There was nothing not to like! Hotel is excellent and I suggest to everybody!

Great location for the whole city. Getting to and from was very easy and made our stay in the city that much better. The hotel is very decorative on the exterior and lobby but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Very plain room but if your there to see the city it is just fine.
- Excellent Location - Around the corner from the times square / Walgreens tower, H&M etc. etc. - Clean sheets and towels. - Really good Bloody Mary's. - Most of the staff were polite and friendly. I'm not the type to give bad reviews.. BUT - I found boxer briefs from previous guests in the drawer of the night table, on top of the bible. Disgusting. It really made me question the importance of sanitation and thoroughness of the cleaning crew. - Not a good sleep. The beds were hard and the pillows were thin and flat. - The fridge and mini bar were missing from my room. - There were unknown charges to my account. And I tried to contact the hotel to question these charges, I was redirected many times. And I was always sent to a voice mail. Eventually, they told me they would investigate and that they would call me back. They didn't. When I called back the account billing personnel (Deborah, I think) was extremely rude and sarcastic, she redirected my call before I was even done speaking.
