Poorly disclosed 30$/day facility fee
Location Very Old hotel and very expensive
The location was the best! The hotel is okey, but the prices are not...
Nothing. Bed was super hard. Rooms are tiny.
The location was good. The hotel and the room was old fashion. The pictures of the rooms that you show in your website doesn´t match the real ones. Also I had to pay an extra $100 for facilities fee.
I love this hotel.
Location Staff were not very friendly. Man at desk checking me in was quite short with me, he kept asking me for a voucher, I kept telling him I didn't have one. He obviously wasn't listening to me. He never said hello, welcome, please or thank you. I realize it was check in time so it was busy, but don't work in this industry if you can't deal with people more appropriately. I actually found all the staff quite stand-offish, except the gentleman at the bag check. I had no cold water for my shower, and there was a tag from previous visitor on the floor in the bathroom. I left a bag in one of the rooms, when I called half hour later, I spent 20 minutes on phone, being put on hold. I finally just went to hotel and asked security to get it.
Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.
The location was awesome It was so small and incredibly expensive for what you get. There were families being evicted in adjacent rooms. Don't know the story there, but not your typical "4 star" experience.
Location is great. Price wasn't bad. Even though I booked and prepaid for our stay, they charged us 23 per night for "facility fee". When I asked what was for, they said "it's a required fee for wifi". I tried to say we didn't need wifi, but the gentleman said "sorry, it's a required fee". There is also some construction going on, which woke us up at 730am. When look outside, there was a cord. They didn't alert us about construction, and neither told us to make sure our curtains were closed. Rooms are also a bit outdated and small.
Bathroom walls poorly painted, TV very small, no fridge (refrigerator). In itself very expensive for poor quality.
2 bathrooms for one room made it extra convienent. Clean rooms. Ask for a room with a view. You can't go wrong. Didn't have any issues with anything.
Atmosphere Prices of food
Very good location, with many coffee shops and small restaurants nearby. What I would expect from a NYC hotel, of cheaper value. The shower is part of your bedroom with a clear wall, giving 0 privacy,to shower or use the restroom. Stayed with my mom and it was quite uncomfortable. The bedding consists of a bottom sheet and a duvet, that does not extend the length of the entire bed, so your shoulders are exposed. The hotel restaurant, we did not visit, had avert very limited menu. When we asked for things for the room to be fixed or changed to the cleaning staff, she responded " I know, talk to management". Also very thin walls, you will hear your neighbors tv, our we're quite so that's not a complaint, just a statement.
That facilities fee is a real kick in the pants...and the fact that they tax the facilities fee...whether or not you actually use the wi/fi, etc is borderline crooked.
Location. Close Columbus circle. Lobby. Room was extremely small. Bath and Toilet was extremely small too. Bedding was tared which made me don't want to sleep in the bedding. I slept on the bedding. Don't recommend you to stay. I can not believe that I payed almost $250 for this kind of room.
Good location, staff was helpful. The bathroom is so small you had to crawl around the commode to get to the shower. The faucet in the sink was dripping, The room had in adequate lighting, and the clock was set for an incorrect time.
Clean, but very small room! A/C was very uncomfortable.
A comfortable place to sleep and a great location. It's akin to staying with a friend albeit one who charges you ~$300 per night. Rooms are very small with noisy air conditioning
The hotel was beautiful inside veryour. The feel was cozy. The room I stayed in was right next to the elevator and the water machine. I heard people all night long using elevators and water. Asked for another roI'm was told nothing available. There is a 30 dollar charge per night and I don't know what it's for. Will not be staying there again.
The room was small, but very clean and comfortable. The location was great. The Hudson is near the subway and Central Park. Would stay there again.
Location for the price was great Bathrooms not the cleanest and tiny
The room was very small with about 3 1/2 ft on one side of the bed and 2 1/2 on the other. We had a very hard time keeping the room temp adjusted since the air seemed to blow on the head of the bed. My wife eventually slept with her head toward the foot of the bed. The bathroom is so small I am not sure how someone large could sit on the toilet. My knees were 2 1/2" from the wall and I am 5'9".
staff attitude staff - "see through" of tasks rooms un-maintained
Wifi speed was decent at 10Mbps. There were literally no employees in the lobby so it took me a while to figure out there were kiosks for a self-serve check-in. Employees or better signage would have fixed that. Once in the room (tiny @ about 80 sq ft), the brochure mentioned that linens are changed every three days rather than with every check in which explains the pubic hair and the stains in the bed. It took housekeeping over an hour to come and change the bed. The bed was practically a fold out couch with a futon cushion that was not very comfortable. The toilet was covered in urine, the office chair in the room was missing wheels, the ice machine was broken, the carpet was filthy, and there appeared to be a transvestite rave going on at 4:30 in the afternoon.
The price and the restaurant menu were great. I thought the mattresses were terrible. I just don't like sleeping on a futon-like mattress. It was very hard, no give.
Ultra futuristic look, clean, efficient, fun No free parking, costs $60 for 24h
The patio diner and bar was great! We could of used more purple lights and also Kleenex!
I liked the view. Also the greeters at the first level were very curtious! No fridge. Also the 4th level desk person wasn't very nice! She seemed more like we were a burden on her than a guest.
price and location. Men that checked us in and got cabs for us food service. Food great service horrible. Ate at hotel twice and service horrible both times.
Small rooms as though it was built for an aeroplane. Compact but with the essentials. FYI No fridge.
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly
Great place. Clean rooms that use space in the best ways possible. The shower had great water pressure and the beds were so comfortable! We even got our room upgraded. It really felt very futuristic to stay was a place we got to show off. Checking in was a bit difficult as the computer didn't recognize our reservation at first, but a staff member quickly helped us out. Checking out was a breeze though the staff member helping us check out bags into Yobot despite us not needing help imposed a forced tip.
The beds were super comfortable and the decor was amazing ! I live in New York and I felt like a tourist there . The lounge needs to stay open later . I wanted to enjoy it more .
Enjoyed the decor and atomosphere - great location and a great stay! Free happy hour and solid breakfast to get you going. Someone tried to come into our room at 8AM but we had the deadbolt on - never found out who it was or why they would come in with a 12AM check out.
It feels as if you have your own apartment. Element has thought of everything. The full sized fridge, nth silverware and the dishwasher. The most notable feature at Element is the staff. They are truly focused on getting everything that you desire to you and somehow seem to always go above and beyond. Great for locals and for tourists. Room service was missed.
Clean and comfortable bedroom, nice bathroom, location is very good, near Port Authority, Subway, Times Square. The elevators are just 3 for more than 30 floors, what makes it difficult to get in in the morning, when everybody is trying to leave. I took more than 10 minutes to get one since it always skipped our floor. The reception desk staff was fine, but just that, they were not friendly enough to make you feel they really cared for your stay. I asked about the value for a late checkout since there was a transaction in my credit card, and they just said that they did not know about any transaction according to the value I showed to them. After the checkout, that was the value of my late checkout.
Clean, friendly staff, safe location, near Penn Station and Bus/Subway station. High speed elevators were quick and fully functional yet compact room, quality continental breakfast included. All rooms sleep 2 persons. Booked through booking.com and charge for room was not to occur until stay, instead the room was charged immediately, one month before stay. While Elements is a non-smoking hotel, you may encounter some large dogs. Rooms suitable for 2 persons only, would be crowded with a large dog as well.
My husband and I always enjoy the Element, it's got everything we need. We stay there 2 times a year while we work trade shows at the Javits.
The location is convenient to many points of interest 3 elevators for a 40 story building equals 5 to 10 minute waits for the elevator. The included breakfast is worthless as the space is so crowded and trashed by 8:30 that it is unusable. The kitchenette in the room has no value for a weekend stay and the space it takes up means there's no room for your suitcase.
Loved - the location although a bit shady at night due to the gay strip club two doors down, all the free food and drinks although it wasn't the best tasting at least they offered and thats more than you can say for any other hotel in the surrounding areas, the kitchenette came in handy Hated - the elevator situation too many people not enough elevators, the fact that they used a pasenger elevator as a service elevator to hual trash from the guests room...it was filled completely to the top with trash bags and we had to stand there and watch and wait as they got it all out and sprayed and wiped down the elevator so we could finally get back to our room, I did not like seeing so much of the inner workings of the hotel in plain view
Free continental breakfast in NYC !!!! nuff said
Breakfast, laundry facilities, nice rooms and bathrooms, kitchenettes, view, location Too few elevators for the number of guests. Spent 20+ minutes waiting for the elevator.
Rooms were clean, beds very comfortable, maid service timely, toiletries excellent, service excellent, fitness room spacious, and outstanding location - one block from Times Square, next door to subway stop to SoHo and 2 block from subway going uptown, near great restaurants a block away, and a block or two from most of the major theaters . We have now stayed here three times in the past 4 years - not willing to risk staying somewhere else Nothing not to like, except it can be pricey depending on the day of the week you stay ($300-$400/night), but it is worth it.
for the buffet breakfast they write down 18% tip???
Clean room, comfortable bed, nice walk in shower (no tub). Subway entrance right outside. WiFi wasn't free unless you sign up to rewards club.
Nice hotel friendly people The parking people they are affiliated with are ripoff scam artists! DO NOT PARK THERE
The staff are awesome! It feels like a very contemporary and trendy hotel. From the "less is more" interior design, to the clean lines of the rooms, the high tech features in the bathroom, lighting fixtures, even the alarm clock is an iPad! How cool is that? All of these things add to what some might call a European look, or contemporary. I really felt at home there, being a professional photographer/graphic designer, it hit home with me on all kinds of levels. The location is great! just minutes from Times Square. We will be back! Are you ready for the negative? Ok, here it comes...the pens. The pens they use at the front desk just don't go with the rest of the decor. I think they either need something in brushed aluminum or mat black.
Wonderfully supportive staff, friendly and helpful. Room was simple but hip and elegant, fresh and clean. And perfect location for my event at the Javits. I'll definitely book at the Cassa Times Square again in the future :)
The hotel is one of the best we've stayed in everything was clean nice and the bathroom was great along with the comfortable beds. Usually when we go to hotels I'm a little skeptical about the cleanliness of the room and bed and I cover the pillows with my own bedding but this place was awesome didn't have to do any of it. Would stay again and the noise level in time square wasn't bad at all. Paid 75 dollar deposit and the one refunded me 53.00 and couldn't really explain the charge.
The rooms were spacious and very modern. the hotel was right by times square The hotel is not finished yet but when it is it will be even better
Okay gym Clean, modern room No Restaraunt
Spacious, modern rooms. Great location. Service was OK but not as professional as other hotels (e.g. housekeepers never said hello in the hallways, front doorman usually waved at us when we walked through the door, but rarely actually opened it for us. Was turned off by the front desk person telling us that they normally charge $150 (!!!) for early check-in. That's ridiculous. She waved it for us because her manager wasn't there, but I've never heard of such a thing before. The $75 deposit is also weird. It's understandable given the iPad in the room, but even that seems anachronistic these days. Who doesn't have a cell phone that provides the same functionality?
Great staff, very attentive
Easy walk over to Times Square. The room was beautiful and I really felt like I got a great deal staying here! It's New York so of course it was a tight fit, but our family of four in the double deluxe room never felt too crowded. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the neighborhood was close enough to Subways and other destinations, but far enough from all the action and noise. Will definitely remember this place the next time I visit New York! The only issue that ever came up was the shower would leak a bit into the hallway floor.
The bathroom was very undesirable!! From the door not shutting all the way (sitting at the desk you could see the person sitting on the toilet because there was that much of a gap) to the shower that everyone can see your shadow in - so uncomfortable with others in the room
Near Times Square, cleanliness and open room with large window...
Location Noisy in room heater.
Impossible to sleep depending where your located in the hotel. If your on the same side as the club good luck getting any sleep at all. I could here the music and the DJ better than I could hear our room TV. Had to keep AC and TV on in attempt to drown out the music.
Location was excellent
Good price and location AC unit was extremely loud, impossible to sleep well with it on, and it was humid hot summer in NYC. Major bummer. No towels in pool area had to call 3 times, there is barely any staff around ever. People seem to be here to crash for parties or work, not really a vacation hotel.
The mini bar The maids
Nothing The hotel was too expensive The room was very small It was dirty
Proximity to various NYC highlights is very nice. I understand parking in NYC is difficult, but a better alternative could be achieved.
A staff member member became rude with us in the hotub area. We were compted $50 in room service because of it. Other than that, the place was great!
Can't beat the location Spa and hot tub need to be heated up in the morning
The outside seating area attached to our room and the internal attrium. Staff were very helpful. We booked a suite. Very small room with only a bar mounted above the credenza to hang clothes. I had to make a conference call the next down so went to a common seating area downstairs It was dirty with several chairs stained with spilled drinks. Very loud club which didn't close until 4:00am. Good for young folks less so if you are a little older.
I usually stay on the lower Eastside when I travel to New York for the restaurants and art galleries. I selected the out purely on the basis of economics and the desire to do something slightly different. Although there are no art galleries and only a handful of restaurants in this neighborhood it is walking distance to time square and the theater district. If shows are your game, this place is pretty awesome. However for 160 bucks a night with good sheets and a recently renovated modern bathroom I do not feel inconvenienced at all. You can easily take the blue line subway down to Chelsea or Greenwich Village and as long as the weather wasn't as terrible as it was during snowstorm Jonas during my stay you can easily walk east across to the Bowery once you have moved south a bit by train. There's a charming coffee and breakfast place right next-door to the hotel which was friendly and provided healthy food options. The staff at the hotel although not the most polished was extremely helpful during the storm. They were able to extend my stay since I was stranded with all flights canceled for 2 days without gouging me. I had a problem with my television remote which they expeditiously repaired and I appreciated the attentiveness and speed. The hotel restaurant was, meh, just fair, certainly not awesome as compared to most restaurants in New York, but they get points for being the only place open on the night of the storm. And again at bargain-basement prices for the room one as little right to complain.
Liked that 4 of us could have a room where we each had our own bed and tv and be fairly close to great destinations. The place is right beside a night club and the room we were given initially was right beside the club. You could feel and hear the music in the room all night. There was also an "emergency exit" door right outside our room that was used by service personnel. The door banged constantly with people coming and going. Seriously the bang was so loud it made us jump every single time - this was every 15 minutes or so the entire night. None of us slept (myself, my 63 year old mom and my 18 year old daughter). One of the Tv's didn't work at all and another had a bad picture - we asked for it to be looked at - never happened. No way to lock the door from the inside and no "do not disturb" sign. We complained about the room but of course they couldn't do anything other than move us for the 2nd night and offer free breakfast (which was actually brunch starting at 10 am which needs its own whole other review). Room was dirty - carpet, sheets...Then the second night we did have a quieter room. While we were getting ready for our show there was a knock on the door followed by a male employee walking right in - no waiting for us to let him in - just walked right in to fill soap in the shower??? What if we had been naked? So bad it was laughable. At least we all have a funny story to tell. A tv and 2 lights didn't work in this room either. Awful awful place. People were nice but didn't follow through on the service at all.
The cleanliness of the room and the bathroom and the location (near to time square) which we can find several metro lines. The noise resulting from the street (trucks, klaxons all night long). It was almost impossible to sleep even with earplugs.
The staff were very professional, and helpful. The hotel is nice to bring our dog to, the staff went out of their way to cater to him. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. There was a very noisy club next door that made it difficult to sleep. Also I thought that for the price we paid the hotel could have offered free WiFi in the rooms.
We brought our dog with us, and they were very welcoming and accommodating...he got treats, a new leash, and they even offered a dog bed! And, they didn't give us a hassle when we wanted to leave the dog in the room while we went to dinner. I think the dog had as great a time as we did! The location wasn't the greatest if you are looking for "things to do" right there in the neighborhood, but for our needs, it was perfectly fine!
On Sunday nites, club next door is so loud well into the nite making it virtually impossible to sleep. All light fixtures lack dimmers and all contain very high wattage cold fluorescent bulbs Lighting in room is horrible. Hvac is not well regulated. Room would get very cold and the only option is too turn off and wait for it to get unbearably hot
Proximity to business event. Room location: too noisy; not conducive to getting appropriate rest during a business trip. Front desk: did not accommodate our request upon arrival. We were moved to a room 2 floors higher, same room location, same noise level.
There were comfortable beds, nice tv's in the room as well as a brilliant shower. The hotel is next to a junction so you get awoken very early every morning but i was put on the second floor next to it.
Amazing room with a view of the Hudson River. Excellent service from staff. The evening wine reception is a nice touch.
Very nice soap and shampoo Toilet paper poor, coffee stand in the morning moved away very early. At 9:30 it was already moved away. from the five opportunities we could only use 2.
Nice view from the bar, nice room.
Good location, 10 minute walk to Times Sq. No coffee/tea making facilities in room. Drinks expensive.
The View at the bar on the 16th floor! The view from our room, the food, service, location
Great welcome. Staff always willing to help. Rooms very comfortable. Great view. Fantastic design, furnitures, deco. Room cleaning was average.
Good central location to transportation that we use while in the city. Known entity. Have to pay large fee for Wifi when even coffee shops offer it for free. Big gouge. Only one usable electrical outlet in room. You charge your phone or you have AC, but not both. Other outlets are hidden behind furniture.
The fact that there was only decaf coffee pods in the room. People staying in a hotel do not always want just decaf. The room we stayed in had no bathtub and I was very disappointed with that.
the concierge service was excellent!! got me on the right subways. especially Diana
I loved the character of this hotel and the executive king suite is absolutely beautiful very clean, had a super comfy bed absolutely loved this hotel. Would absolutely return again!!!! Nothing I didn't like
Very clean rooms. Proximity to Times Square, subways and restaurants. Will definitely stay here the next time we visit New York.
The location was great, the rooms were clean, and we had generally no problems. The elevators can be kind of finicky and slow.
The room I stayed in had been renovated recently and while not the Taj this place was charming. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was raining one morning and they loaned me a nice big new umbrella. I was working a lot and so I didn't mind that there wasn't a giant pool on the roof with deck chairs. If go back for sure. Nothing I can think of. I mean it's an old stately hotel. The dining room was a bit long in the tooth. But I liked the place.
Hotel has no ambience, no place to sit and relax outside the room. No lounge or fireplace, no lobby bar, no hotel restaurant. Rooms are decent size, but bedding is thin and uncomfortable, air conditioning/ heating is difficult to control, rooms are separated from one long noisy corridor by thin doors. Housekeeping is great, but very noisy if you are on anything but PST and want to sleep past 730AM. The breakfast "cafe" is a single basement common room where you self serve a mediocre breakfast, even coffee and juice from dispensing machines. Whoever owns this hotel cares little about the guest experience, period. That is evident from the basic design of EVERYTHING. But Hotel location is good. If you must stay here, get a room on the north side facing the back of the "tenements" on 49th. A little kid babble from those homes is better than listening to police and fire sirens all night. Pretty much everything could be improved except the location.
Nice clean new rooms. Friendly staff! The elevators were a little slow but we had no problems. There was a problem with getting a package delivered to the hotel wires got crossed by staff?
The location was great (easy taxi access, and walkable throughout the theater district) and the price was good. I had frequent trouble with my key card, the hot water faucet in the shower fell off - but that may have just been bad luck
We selected an ADA access double double executive room, which was spacious, extra nice since space in NYC is at a premium. The location is away from the madness of Times Square, but so very close that you are not hiking to see the shows. The shower was probably my favorite feature, with a fixed shower head and separate hand-held unit. I wish all units had those, not just the ADA ones. The beds are very comfy, and the linens fresh. I had just seen that Daily Mail report of beds being remade instead of getting fresh sheets, so I was paying attention to that! The best part of a stay at the Belvedere is the staff. To a person, they are all knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant. I can't wait to see them all again on my next stay. The elevators are in desperate need of performance overhaul; they are very, very slow. Good thing there are four of them!
Family vacation with a 10 & 12 yr old. The location was good for us. The size of the hotel room was comfortable, actually larger than I expected for NYC, and it had a mini fridge and microwave which was great with kids. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The bathroom was small but that's what I expected and my only real complaint was the water pressure. I literally had to run around the shower to get wet and getting the the shampoo and conditioner out my hair was a challenge. Overall I would stay again without a doubt.
Great Hotel. Highly recommended. Nice rooms, friendly staff and excellent service. Continental breakfast included, and it was not bad at all. Great location near Times Square. Next to the bus stop if you travel through Newark airport. Yes, the breakfast room is small, but it was not a major problem.
Location was perfect, price was affordable, room was clean and comfortable, Skyroom rooftop bar was fantastic. Staff was a bit brusque, room was small and cramped ( first time staying in NYC)
the rooms were comfortable hot water ran out
Very helpful staff and great location. Excellent breakfast.
Hotel was great location, clean and spacious room for Manhattan. The staff was discombobulated and one shift didn't seem to know what the other shift was doing. We were locked out of our room twice because they mixed up our reservation even though it was pre-paid. Each time it happened requiring is to come to front desk immediately and disturbing our morning like it was our fault. They couldn't seem to wrap their heads around a simple reservation and the inconvenience they were causing. No apologies for it either. If this had not happened, this would be the best hotel in Manhattan.
Close to all the possible scenic spots + bus/train station Long line on breakfast and only 3 elevators for all the floors ( 32 floors with atleast 5-7 rooms in each floor).
The staff was super helpful and the rooms were very clean and nice. The breakfast was great and there was plenty of food. The location is excellent. You can easily walk to any location in Times Square and we enjoyed the fact that the hotel was not on a busy street, so street noise was extremely low. I would highly recommend this hotel. There was a lot of traffic in the lobby in the evening because of a hot new club "The Sky Room" that is on the top of the hotel. However, the Sky Room staffing did an EXCELLENT job of getting hotel guests on the elevators before the club hoppers. We also were never disturbed by the club in the slightest. This isn't really a negative comment :)
Great value for this area of Manhattan. Staff didn't seem to communicate between one shift and the next. They confused and crossed our reservation and double charged us making us get three sets of re-keyed room keys. Pain in the total a$$.
NO PARKING AND THE PARKING GARAGE THEY ASSOCIATE RATES WITH IS $35 every 24hrs!!
Room Airconditioner was efficient but was too noisy at night - probably needed maintenance to fix noisy fan which appear to be out of balance.
Staff was very friendly, it was in close proximity to GCT, price was reasonable, room was clean and comfortable Construction on the street was a bit disruptive for sleeping. Reserved a room with a King bed, but was stuck with a double
My one night stay room was upgraded. It wouldn't affect me much but the large room, thoroughly clean, and the great ventilation made for a good night's sleep. The location in the city is perfect for Hell's Kitchen / restaurant row dining. Unlike other inns or hotels I've been to around the city, this one seemed exceptionally clean and new. Staff was friendly and helpful. The check out time (noon) is also a huge plus. The front lounge seems ideal for getting some work done or catching up with a friend (with comp. coffee, tea, hot chocolate). I'm very pleased with the inn, surprised even that it met and surpassed initial expectations, and will definitely stay again. I reserve one star for facilities only because I stayed for one night and didn't get to see much. Otherwise, perfect!
For the city, the room was nice sized. The lady I was traveling with is obsessed with bed bugs and insisted we flip up the mattress for inspection, lol. Mattress and linens were imaculate. Bath was clean. Breakfast was decent. A bench to smoke outside would have been lovely.
Friendliness of staff complimentary breakfast was fantastic something for everyone and even a limo supplied for the return trip to airport at the same cost of a taxi Nothing to complain about
great location--the quiet side is actually pretty quiet for being so close to Times Sq/free coffee/tea/chocolate in lobby at all times breakfast offerings could be better
All the staff were great! Breakfast was great. Also the location was perfect. 5-10 minute walk to everything! There wasn't really anything.
The location was perfect for us. We needed to catch an early plane the next day and we were able to get there within 20 minutes. The rooms were clean as well as to be expected for a NYC hotel. They weren't anything spectacular. The real issue I had was the staff at the front desk. They had an attitude when checking us in and when we first walked up, we had to wait for the ladies to finish their conversation before anyone would assist us. The conversation wasn't even work related. If you want a place to stay for a night or two then it's okay.
Great stay awesome price, good position and comfy atmosphere. My favorite part is the 24 hour coffee bar, feel like home
The attitude of the staff was excellent The fire escape staircases are at the center of the building, not at the ends
Friendly helpful staff. Clean. Good location.
Excellent locationa nd value. We have stayed in the city many times and foudn this hotel have great amenities as well as a staff that is exceptional
I liked the proximity to Times Square. The rooms were comfortable and Hampton inn staff were able to satisfy my requests. They have free breakfast and had coffee, tea, and hot chocolate free 24 hours. I also liked that our luggage was stored meanwhile we explored the last couple hours in New York. It was expensive for 2 nights since the stay was from 12/31/15-1/2/16. Some of the staff could have been friendlier to other people. Breakfast had long lines and the dinning area was not big enough to fit everyone. Overall, this is a pretty good hotel. Would stay here again.
Staff was friendly & helpful; room was clean; breakfast was good. Room was just adequate in size & was a little dark. Desk area could have been brighter to facilitate work.
The staff was outstanding and did everything they could to make my stay the best possible. The room was very clean and nice and had many added accoutrements that I had not expected. Overall my stay was excellent and I would recommend this hotel for business and pleasure!
Close to subway stop A lot of noise in room hardwood floors and thin walls, makes for a noisy experience especially with the exit doors being slammed by housekeeping all day. Could hear full conversations in the rooms from neighbors
Great value! We had an enjoyable weekend visit to NYC with a group of friends. We stayed in a Premium Room with 2 Queen beds, and a pull-out sofa. It also had a mini-fridge and wet bar area. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable with tons of windows. The location of the hotel was convenient to our weekend plans at MSG. Hotel lobby staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would certainly recommend it to friends.
The location is awesome! The cleanliness and comfort of the room fit my needs well Front staff in evening is less than eager to communicate about the room availability and rates. I reserved the room via Kayak and the concept seemed foreign to the staff.
The best service and kindness help from the front desk lady impressed me , as the door keys were not working she took us to our room personally,
I didnt like anything about it. I reserve a room with 2 Queen Size bed when we get there it wasn't reserve for us awful experience the man in the front desk he suggest his going to look for another hotel but we were so tired we just need to relax.
Front desk was wonderful, just things beyond their control occurred. Shower in our room squirted from wall even after repair man tried to fix, had to change rooms, delay in getting extra towels from housekeeping--the biggest and most noticeable is the cleaning staff does not know how to properly clean a room, wood floors not swept in rooms and the space between glass showers and sink have never been cleaned--whole bars of used soap, hair ties, wrappers and etc in the space-- just totally gross-- room 306!! They really need a lesson in how to clean a room!!!
LOVED the place. By far the best value in the city! the room was perfect for our family! The bar and lounge in the lobby ROCKED! Roman, the bartender was great! The entire staff was super friendly! 5 STARS !!
I have stayed at the Tryp several times (perhaps 8-10x) over the past few years. Overall, the room size is good, price is good, nice little bar downstairs. Decent accommodations for the money. The staff was so horrible this time around. Just overall not accommodating. There was no hot water on the coldest day of the year. My husband took a freezing cold shower and the just put their hands up like oh well!
The hotel has a lot of things going for it, judging by our recent visit. The property is very clean, the location close to Times Square and Hell's Kitchen is convenient, and there is a subway stop on the same block. The room was very spacious and comfortable. All in all, it was a great stay. The only thing to point out is if you're a light sleeper, earplugs may be needed. We were on the ninth floor but could still hear cars blowing their horns and there is a police station next door, so sirens can frequently be heard.
close to penn station I stayed for 4 nights. very loud and i'm talking about car trucks passing by it's people banging on trash cans and construction. The hotel is next door to a police station. room are good size but decor is modern cheap looking with dispensers for shampoo and body wash glued in the shower. I would not stay there again.
I like the new trend of wood floors, as used here. Seems cleaner. The rooms are very attractive, but less functional than others. The beds are very comfortable. There are lots of places to plug in devices (regular outlets and USB) in several places. Elevators are plentiful and efficient. Loved having a Keurig coffeemaker. I interacted little with staff, but all I encountered in the hallways were friendly. A little off the beaten track, which is good in the city. And right next to a police precinct, which made me feel extra safe. There was no drawer-storage in my room (the closet is elevated, so you can put things on the floor of that, plus belowe the closet are two cubbies - one with the iron/board and one with a safe, but not really convenient for clothing). There was no countertop space in the bathroom for cosmetics, etc. No minibar, which is a sign of 4* and up, to me. And all that is provided are paper coffee cups. Some people may like that they may be cleaner, but I like glass glasses, and ceramic cups. Since I brought a bottle of wine, I asked in the bar if I could have a wine glass to take to my room and the bartender said he wasn't allowed to give one to me. I had a problem turning my TV off with the remote (it would just come back on) and a late night call to the front desk was no help ("Just turn the volume all the way down.") I eventually found a power button on the TV, but the desk clerk should have suggested that. At check-in, the clerk was not unfriendly, but when he handed me my keycard, he didn't really explain anything about the facility (breakfast, etc.) like people usually do.
I was really pleased about the accommodations on the hotel. Full kitchen was really useful. Personnel was kind in general (as long as a problem did not arise). I did not like the eggs for breakfast. Couple of packages were not received by hotel.
El servicio es excelente, como también las facilidades. La realidad es que me encantó todo. Vuelvo a quedarme aqui.
For the cost I don't see how you can charge what you do for these rooms when you can stay at the one at Times Square for the same amount and have a suite. You can barely walk by another person in these rooms. You charge WAY TOO MUCH for them!!!
Internet only in the lobby
Great Location, comfy bed, staff was very nice and friendly. Linen was dirty no complimentary items in bathroom one face towel in bathroom no water to make coffee Early morning construction no fridge in room small room
Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was good sized with a large shower, but there was virtually no counter space and it was impossible to use the faucet and sink without splashing water outside the sink. The room had almost no drawer space. Two narrow and deep drawers and one letter drawer. Closet also very small. If you are staying more than a day or two, you will have to still live our of your suitcase. Speaking of suit cases - no place to put them to get them out of the way. Very poorly designed room/bathroom/furniture for counter space and drawers. Broken safety rail in shower - very dangerous! Nice breakfast - but constantly running out of plates, bowls, etc.
The staff was above and beyond professional, courteous, and thoughtful. The room was comfortable, very clean, and just the right size for a weekend get away with my grandson. He was very impressed and "wowed" -and for an eight year old that was all that mattered! That we only had two nights to spend!
Got in late after the Bruce Springsteen concert and the front desk associate gave my friend and I each a bottle of water. Extra cookies on check out -- which are amazing by the way! Issue with two blow dryers.
The staff at the DoubleTree South Times Square is AWESOME! Friendly, helpful, bent over backwards to make my stay comfortable. Small room, ice machines not on every floor. SLOW elevators!
We got our cookie, so we had that going for us... which was nice. Staff was curt and unwilling to accommodate a booking error that occurred. It didn't really seem like my business mattered much there. Won't be making any future reservations here.
We were there during the blizzard and the staff did a great job, especially like the restaurant!!!
I can't say enough about how friendly the staff was!! Amazing Small rooms , but that's typical of many Manhattan hotels
Misinformation from concierge on where to park when we arrived at midnight. Construction noise outside our window all night with no warning or apology from hotel staff. Place is pretty crowded and dingy. Was not aware that Hilton did not give points if booked through kayak
Comfy bed with soft sheets, nice staff The ice machine didn't work
Fantastic hotel, great location. Staff were great many thanks ti them. Ideal location next to Port Authority Bus Terminal and Subway Station. Street not seedy in our opinion, felt safe always. No complaints great stay. Many thanks.
Hotel was good. A little dated but clean and comfortable. Good value for NYC. Close to times square. Great view of the empire state building. Staff was excellent. Very friendly. They even got my a room on a higher floor for the views. Excellent customer service.
staff and location both excellent loved everything
Central location, clean, modern bathrooms, comfortable beds. Noisy but it's downtown Manhattan so it's to be expected.
The hotel was small with a standard foyer but the room was surprisingly roomy with a good bed and layout.
The staff, were brilliant. So nice and helpful. Room was great, and very clean everyday. Only problem (which wasnt overly bad) is, it is right next door to the New York Parole Office, and not as close to Time Square Centre as I thought.
Beds very comfortable, nice new hotel in reasonable location, walking distance to times square.. and shopping. No Fridge in room ,noisy airconditioning, did not receive requested early morning wake up call. On check in had booked and paid for king bed, got 2 doubles as king not available, thereby reducing space in already small room.
comfortable bed, clean, good location, friendly and professional employees
The room was small, but larger than many other hotel rooms in Manhatten. It is quite adequate for two people. The closet was large, with a small coffee maker. The bed was very comfy and included pillow top mattress, down comforter, and down pillows. Desk, Internet connection, and flat screen t.v. Everything was new and very clean. There is also a computer provided for guest use in the lobby. The location is directly across from the Port Authority bus terminal. The street includes two adult DVD stores and is located in a side street that may scare some people. On the plus side, we were ten minutes from Time Square and there were people everywhere so we did not feel unsafe walking to or from the hotel.
Nice room and view. Great Location
After the maid cleaned my room, she left the room open and did not close the door.
Very friendly Chargers for everything you need!
We had to change our rooms 3 times because it was dirty. Settled on a room at 1am and then the next morning pulled the sheets back and saw stains on the bed. horrible experience.
Our room was large and very comfortable. The hotel was conveniently located. The lobby was crowded, worn and dated. There were huge boxes lining our hallway that made it difficult to get to our room with luggage.
Location, bar The hotel needs a major renovation. Decor is dated, building appears worn out. Insulation was combining out of door. Hallways were dark and carpet dingy. Bed squeaked. Smell of smoke the first night
Location!! Room was clean and staff nice. We had and adult and child friend in the city we were visiting. We didn't use the pool until one day we wanted to have them join us. We were told that they would be $75 a person to swim. I thought that was outrageous since we hadn't used the pool yet and I'm quite sure not everyone staying in the hotel takes advantage of the pool. We decided to go to their building which had a much better facility 44 floors up on the park to swim. We weren't charged a thing to use for the day. I understand a charge of some sort but $75 for 1 adult and $75 for 1 child is ridiculous. I also can't speak to the food in the hotel because we always ate other places, but we found that everything else with our stay was more than adequate.
The room (mostly the bathroom) smelled so strongly of bleach that I got a terrible headache. It was bad enough that It didn't matter what deal I could get- I could not tolerate it another day. Other than that, everything was great. If smells don't bother you, it's a great place! I am VERY sensitive to smells.
Perfectly located if you are on a short tourist visit to NYC. A little renovation can help up lift quality of stay.
Rooftop pool and central location excellent; staff extremely helpful. Manager Joe Cecala great. The lobby bar is not romantic.
Older hotel, with older finishings. But large rooms for a city hotel. Everything clean and comfortable. Nice lounge to grab a snack or drink. Rooftop pool was a neat experience for our 14yr old and great value for Midtown. Discounted parking wasn't bad at 30.0p/day and the hotel kept our bags after check out. No complaints
The proximity to Central Park was nice. The room had old appliances ( toilet, air conditioning unit) and reeked of cigarette smoke.
